A knifeman slashed a man's throat at a busy London tube station and allegedly shouted 'this is for Syria' before being Tasered by police in what has been described by Scotland Yard as a terrorism attack.
The victim suffered serious knife injuries at Leytonstone underground station shortly after 7pm.
Eyewitnesses claimed they could hear 'this is for Syria' and 'all of your blood will be spilled' during the terrifying attack.
After reportedly slashing his victim's throat, the man allegedly threatened several other passengers before being confronted by a number of un-armed police officers.
The officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, who continued to wave the large knife.
One of the officers reportedly shouted 'drop it, drop it you fool' before shooting him with the Tazer.
A bystander shouted at the man: 'You ain't no Muslim bruv.'
The incident has now been handed over to the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command.
The victim suffered serious, non life-threatening knife wounds while two others were injured.
Head of Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism unit, Commander Richard Walton said; 'We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant.
'The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
'I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7pm who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321.
'Anyone who may have captured video or photographic footage of the incident is also urged to make contact with the Counter Terrorism Command via the Anti Terror hotline.'
A number of police raced to the man and quickly handcuffed him.
Following the attack, Transport for London ceased all services between Liverpool Street and Woodford / Newbury Park while the scene was examined.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: 'We were called at 7:09pm to reports of an assault at Leytonstone underground station.
'We sent a number of resources to the including our joint response unit, an incident response officer, an ambulance crew and London's Air Ambulance to the scene.
'We treated a man for stab wounds.
'He was taken as a priority to hospital escorted by the doctor from London's Air Ambulance.'
A Twitter user has been telling of the bloodshed and horror that unfolded at the station.
The commuter was on their way to a Christmas dinner with his workmates when he saw people running frantically.
They wrote: 'I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn't believe my eyes.
'What I saw was I guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor. I was so scared I ran for my life.
'After a good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him.'
The stabbing comes at time of great tension in Europe following the Paris terror attacks last month.
The coordinated attack on the French capital, in which 130 were killed, as well as the launch of British airstrikes on ISIS locations in Syria, sparked fears that terror groups could launch lone wolf attacks on Europe.

Leytonstone tube station is on the Central Line of the London Underground, on the boundary of Zones 3 and 4. Towards London the next station is Leyton, while going east from Leytonstone, the line divides into two branches. On the direct route to Woodford and Epping the next stop is Snaresbrook, and on the Hainault loop it is Wanstead.
The station was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway on 22 August 1856. In turn it became, from 1862, part of the Great Eastern Railway system and then in 1923 part of the London & North Eastern Railway before being transferred to London Transport in 1947. This formed part of the "New Works Programme 1935 - 1940" that was to see major changes at Leytonstone with the station becoming the junction of the existing Epping branch, newly electrified, with the new tube tunnel running under Eastern Avenue towards Newbury Park. This work saw a complete reconstruction of the station along with the removal of the level crossing at Church Lane and its replacement by an underbridge. The work stopped in May 1940 due to wartime priorities; further delays were caused by the station buildings being hit by a German bomb in January 1944. During the war, the new tunnels were used as an aircraft component factory; the part closest to Leytonstone was a public air-raid shelter.

Leytonstone is an area of east London and part of the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It is a high density suburban area, located seven miles north east of Charing Cross in the ceremonial county of Greater London and the historic county of Essex. It borders Walthamstow to the northwest, Wanstead (in the London Borough of Redbridge) to the north, Leyton to the south, and Forest Gate (in the London Borough of Newham) to the east.
The main thoroughfare in Leytonstone, High Road Leytonstone, which runs the length of Leytonstone to Stratford is an ancient pathway dating to pre-Roman times. Roman archaeological features have been found in the area.[citation needed]
The name Leytonstone — in early documents Leyton-Atte-Stone — may derive from the large stone standing at the junction of Hollybush Hill and New Wanstead; in the 18th-century an obelisk was mounted on top of it, and it has been claimed that it is the remains of a Roman milestone.[citation needed]

Eyewitnesses claimed the knife attacker shouted 'this is for Syria'
Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism Command is investigating the attack
Police urged the public to remain calm, but vigilant for further incidents
A knifeman slashed a man's throat at a busy London tube station and allegedly shouted 'this is for Syria' before being Tasered by police in what has been described by Scotland Yard as a terrorism attack.
The victim suffered serious knife injuries at Leytonstone underground station shortly after 7pm.
Eyewitnesses claimed they could hear 'this is for Syria' and 'all of your blood will be spilled' during the terrifying attack.
After reportedly slashing his victim's throat, the man allegedly threatened several other passengers before being confronted by a number of un-armed police officers.
The officers ordered the man to drop his weapon, who continued to wave the large knife.
One of the officers reportedly shouted 'drop it, drop it you fool' before shooting him with the Tazer.
A bystander shouted at the man: 'You ain't no Muslim bruv.'
The incident has now been handed over to the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command.
The victim suffered serious, non life-threatening knife wounds while two others were injured.
Head of Scotland Yard's Counter Terrorism unit, Commander Richard Walton said; 'We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant.
'The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
'I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7pm who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321.
'Anyone who may have captured video or photographic footage of the incident is also urged to make contact with the Counter Terrorism Command via the Anti Terror hotline.'
A number of police raced to the man and quickly handcuffed him.
Following the attack, Transport for London ceased all services between Liverpool Street and Woodford / Newbury Park while the scene was examined.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: 'We were called at 7:09pm to reports of an assault at Leytonstone underground station.
'We sent a number of resources to the including our joint response unit, an incident response officer, an ambulance crew and London's Air Ambulance to the scene.
'We treated a man for stab wounds.
'He was taken as a priority to hospital escorted by the doctor from London's Air Ambulance.'
A Twitter user has been telling of the bloodshed and horror that unfolded at the station.
The commuter was on their way to a Christmas dinner with his workmates when he saw people running frantically.
They wrote: 'I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn't believe my eyes.
'What I saw was I guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor. I was so scared I ran for my life.
'After a good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him.'
The stabbing comes at time of great tension in Europe following the Paris terror attacks last month.
The coordinated attack on the French capital, in which 130 were killed, as well as the launch of British airstrikes on ISIS locations in Syria, sparked fears that terror groups could launch lone wolf attacks on Europe.

Trains at Ongar station as seen between the early 1980's and 2014.
The 2014 footage was filmed as part of the Epping Ongar Railway's "End Of Tube" event commemorating it being 20 years since London Transport closed the railway line between Epping and Ongar.
2014 footage includes two trains - one comprises a diesel locomotive and preserved ex-British Railways Mk1 and Mk2 passenger carriages, the was the preserved ex-London Transport 1960 tube stock "Craven" train. This is painted in 1938 tube stock red and cream livery and comprises two driving motor (DM) cars from 1960 plus one original 1938 tube stock trailer car. As the Epping-Ongar route is no longer electrified the train is powered by some Schoma diesel engines which were at the far end of the train and are not seen in this film.
This film also shows the same train taking part in the April 1990 celebrations of it being 125 years since the Loughton - Ongar railway first opened.
Also seen in this film are some 1962 tube stock trains as filmed over several visits in the 1980's. This includes both silent super 8 film (with authentic sound taken from videotape filmed elsewhere) and 35mm still images.

I took a little walking tour in North London around the Highgate postcode: N6, around Highgate village and the surrounding area and made this video for anyone interested in the area.
This tour briefly shows the following areas and things:
- Highgate tube / underground station
- Jacksons Lane theatre and arts centre building (on Jackson's Lane, as viewed from Archway Road)
- Poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge ("the sage of Highgate")'s house, at number 3 The Grove, Highgate, which was also the residence of LB Priestley.
- The Flask pub, where poets like Lord Byron, Shelley and Keats are said to have visited when they came by to see their fellow literary friend, Coleridge
- Highgate village centre
- Highgate school (where TS Eliot taught French and Latin)
- The picturesque Gatehouse Inn where Charles Dickens and Lord Byron are said to have visited for a drink.
- Pond Square (which no longer contains any ponds)
- Highgate's URC church
- Highgate High Street (featuring local shops and pubs like The Highgate Pantry, Grazyna, The Village Jewller, The Prince of Wales pub, Oxfam, BBC3 hairdressers, The Angel Inn, Limone, Face it and The Highgate Bookshop)
- Some classic red double decker London Buses
- Waterlow Park (featuring its tennis courts, wild blackberries, its 3 ponds: lower, middle and upper pond, its duck, pigeon and turtle residents, dog visitors, its playground, its Kitchen garden compelte with beautiful display of sunflowers and lots of veggies and flowers in the vegetable patch, Lauderdale House and its gardens including a little fountain)
- Saint / St Joseph's RC Church
- Highgate cemetery (shown here only very briefly - there are videos on youtube that concentrate and specialize on Highgate cemetery tours. This place is famous for its celebrity graves. Highgate cemetery burials of celebrities include: Karl Marx, Michael Faraday, Douglas Adams, George Eliot, Jacob Bronowski, Sir Ralph Richardson and Christina Rossetti.)
- Views over London from up on Highgate Hill (like in the famous "London song" by The Kinks.) The views shown are looking eastwards towards Crouch End and also looking Southwards from near Holly Lodge Estate, down towards central London, like in the song by Ray Davies where the lyrics are: "If you're ever up on Highgate Hill on a clear day, You can see right down to Leicester Square". So if you ever heard that song and wondered "where is Highgate hill?" this video shows you a bit of it and the surrounding area. In this video I'm not sure if you can quite make out Leicester Sq, but you can see the London Eye, the BT tower and a few other bits from the London skyline.

A masked gang wielding shotguns and crowbars have been captured on CCTV carrying out a terrifying house raid in broad daylight - after pulling up to the property in a Porsche.
In shocking footage recorded on cameras outside the property, the four thugs were seen pulling up the flash cars in Romford, Essex, before smashing their way into the house while the occupants were at home.
The gang arrived at the house in the black convertible Porsche and a black Mercedes on Monday afternoon before charging towards the front door.
Meanwhile, one of the burglars started smashing up an external CCTV camera, flashing an expensive watch at the lens in the process.
But the raiders were also filmed on a second CCTV camera, which recorded them crashing through the front door with their crowbars. The group then made off with two watches.
The three people who lived in the property were at home at the time. Police said the residents, who are in their 20s and 30s, sustained minor injuries from the broken glass

Police say a man sustained “serious” stab injuries after the attack at Leytonstone tube station, with two others dealt minor injuries.
The Met Police said they are now treating the stabbing as a "terrorist incident" and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
On Twitter, people claiming to be eye-witnesses said that the suspect shouted about Syria, saying “all of your blood will be spilled”.
It is understood that the victim’s throat was slashed, but it is believed that at this stage he will survive the attack.

Commander Richard Walton, who leads the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said: "We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant.
"The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
"I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7pm who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321.
"Anyone who may have captured video or photographic footage of the incident is also urged to make contact with the Counter Terrorism Command via the Anti Terror hotline".

Scotland Yard said they rushed to the scene at 7.05pm this evening and arrested a man after bringing him down with a taser.
The man is currently in custody at an East London police station.

One person said on Twitter: “So I was going to Leytonstone station dressed to go to Christmas dinner with people from work.
“As I walked down I just saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn't believe my eyes.
“What I saw was I guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor. I was so scared I ran for my life.

Paramedics said one man was taken as a priority to hospital escorted by the doctor from London's Air Ambulance.

A KNIFEMAN slashed a commuter’s throat with a machete at a London Tube station last night – and screamed: “This is for Syria”.
Police confirmed they are treating the attack in the ticket hall of Leytonstone Underground, East London, as a terrorist incident. A suspect was tasered and detained by officers.
The victim was stabbed in front of terrified passengers, including children, just after 7pm. He suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Two other people were also injured.
Witnesses claim the knifeman screamed: “This is what happens when you f***with mother Syria, all of your blood will be spilled”.
The attackers words raise fears the incident may have been in revenge for recent British airstrikes in the war-torn country.
Commander Richard Walton, who leads the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “We are treating this as a terrorist incident. I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant.
“The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Leytonstone underground station earlier this evening at around 7pm who saw anything suspicious to call the anti-terror hotline on 0800 789 321.
“Anyone who may have captured video or photographic footage of the incident is also urged to make contact with the Counter Terrorism Command via the Anti Terror hotline”.
A video supposedly of the incident, filmed by a shocked onlooker, shows a large pool of blood near the ticket barriers and bloody footprints nearby, while the alleged attacker has a stand off with police.
In the video, the knifeman, wearing a grey top and beige trousers, approaches and gestures towards two people in the station.
As they come closer to him, he lashes out with his knife and appears to slash one of them in the neck area.
Moments later a uniformed police officer arrives on the scene and fires his Taser at the man, but the alleged attacker fails to drop to the floor so has to be hit by the Taser again.
In the background, voices, thought to belong to the police, shout “drop the knife, drop the knife”.
Terrified passengers, some with children, can be seen running across the east London Tube station away from the scene.
Witness Laurynas Godvaisa, 21, from Lithuania took to Twitter to relive what happened.
He said: “I saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw a guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor.
“ I was so scared I ran for my life. After good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him. And as he was coming out this is what he said: ‘This is what happens when you fuck with mother Syria all of your blood will be spilled.’”
In another video, the alleged attacker can be seen being arrested by two officers, while another moves a frantic woman away from the scene, shouting “get back.”
In the background an onlooker can be heard shouting: “You ain’t no Muslim, bruv, you ain’t no Muslim.”
Music producer and DJ Twiggy Garcia tweeted: “Someone got there throat slashed at Leytonstone station this evening in a revenge attack for Syria. Stay safe peeps.
“My brother witnessed the attack, he’s fine, and he’s from the road so it’s not his first rodeo.”
Evitri Payet tweeted: “Horrifying what’s happened at Leytonstone. There’s a guy shouting at him “you’re not muslim” so, so true No religion promotes this nonsense.”
And another Twitter user posted: “’You ain’t no Muslim’ damn right, just an evil human being. “

A video supposedly of the incident, filmed by a shocked onlooker, shows a large pool of blood near the ticket barriers and bloody footprints nearby, while the alleged attacker has a stand off with police.
In the video, the knifeman, wearing a grey top and beige trousers, approaches and gestures towards two people in the station.
As they come closer to him, he lashes out with his knife and appears to slash one of them in the neck area.
Moments later a uniformed police officer arrives on the scene and fires his Taser at the man, but the alleged attacker fails to drop to the floor so has to be hit by the Taser again.
In the background, voices, thought to belong to the police, shout “drop the knife, drop the knife”.
Terrified passengers, some with children, can be seen running across the east London Tube station away from the scene.
Witness Laurynas Godvaisa, 21, from Lithuania took to Twitter to relive what happened.
He said: “I saw a lot of people running but I ignored it and kept walking to get my train, but suddenly what I saw I couldn’t believe my eyes. I saw a guy with a knife and a dead guy on the floor.
“ I was so scared I ran for my life. After good 10-15 police came and got the guy and arrested him. And as he was coming out this is what he said: ‘This is what happens when you fuck with mother Syria all of your blood will be spilled.’”
In another video, the alleged attacker can be seen being arrested by two officers, while another moves a frantic woman away from the scene, shouting “get back.”
In the background an onlooker can be heard shouting: “You ain’t no Muslim, bruv, you ain’t no Muslim.”
Music producer and DJ Twiggy Garcia tweeted: “Someone got there throat slashed at Leytonstone station this evening in a revenge attack for Syria. Stay safe peeps.
“My brother witnessed the attack, he’s fine, and he’s from the road so it’s not his first rodeo.”
Evitri Payet tweeted: “Horrifying what’s happened at Leytonstone. There’s a guy shouting at him “you’re not muslim” so, so true No religion promotes this nonsense.”
And another Twitter user posted: “’You ain’t no Muslim’ damn right, just an evil human being. “

A knifeman launched a terrorist attack on the London Underground last night, seriously injuring one man and wounding two other people, as he screamed "this is for Syria".
Scotland Yard declared they were treating the attack at Leytonstone station, east London, as "a terrorist incident".
This is the first terrorist attack on British soil since the murder of fusilier Lee Rigby on May 22, 2013.
Police were called to the station after reports of a stabbing in the ticket hall on Saturday at around 7pm.

The incident began at 7.06pm with reports of a stabbing, it is believed the assailant then went through the exit gate and there is footage of him appearing to threatening other people with a knife.
Dramatic mobile phone footage showed him appearing to attack a man as police arrived on the scene carrying Tasers.
Officers can be heard telling him to "drop it, drop it you fool" before Tasering him.
Panicked passengers, including some young families with children, fled the station as police appeared to kick a weapon from his hand as he lay on the floor of the ticket hall.
The man was arrested at 7.14pm and taken to a police station for questioning by Scotland Yard's anti-terrorism detectives.
The Metropolitan Police said one man suffered "serious knife injuries" but was not thought to be in a life threatening condition.
Two other victims received "minor injuries" in the attack.
Commander Richard Walton, the head of the Met's Counter Terrorism Command, said: "We are treating this as a terrorist incident.
"I would urge the public to remain calm, but alert and vigilant. The threat from terrorism remains at severe, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely."

Police have appealed to witnesses who had been recording the attack as it happened on their mobile phones to pass the footage on to them urgently via the anti-terror hotline.
Detectives were believed to be investigating reports that the attacker declared that he was acting in response to the war in Syria.

A fresh wave of RAF strikes hit a key oil field held by the so-called Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant inside Syria yesterday.

'He was taken as a priority to hospital escorted by the doctor from London's Air Ambulance.'

The man then appears to drop something with his right hand just seconds before an officer arrives and kicks it away with his foot.
Another officer then demands the man roll onto his front, which he does and is then handcuffed by two of the policemen.

In the footage the man is seen standing past the barriers in the ticket hall of the tube station in a stand-off with three police officers.
At one point the man appears to lunge towards the officers, who scream for commuters to get back.
As the camera pans away, he disappears out of view before screams are heard and he is seen lying on the floor.

One onlooker shouts: "stupid idiot", as police call for him to "put it down".
The man then appears to drop something with his right hand just seconds before an officer arrives and kicks it away with his foot.
Another officer then demands the man roll onto his front, which he does and is then handcuffed by two of the policemen.
A third in the background screams at passers-by to "get out", before one onlooker shouts out "You ain't no Muslim bruv" three times.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed the force was called to the station just after 7pm
One person, who claims to have witnessed the attack, took to Twitter to reveal details of the horror.

With 2014 marking the 25th anniversary since the peaceful* breaching of the Berlin wall I've revisited and remixed my films from my visits to that city in the historic weeks and months after the simply stunning events.
At the time it seemed incredible - not just that this was happening but that it came to pass without a major war between the Eastern and Western nations.
This compilation film includes: .the wall, the death strip, Checkpoint Charlie, trains, trams, the M-Bahn, ghost stations in East Berlin through which West Berlin trains travelled non-stop, and much more.
Mostly filmed in April 1990, a few scenes come from December 1989. Some scenes could have seen me arrested and imprisoned (for espionage) had I tried to film them before the breaching of the wall.
