in a rural area of saitama, japan, architect hidetoshi sawa of tailored design lab has completed a two-storey timber dwelling for a young family. neighbored by fields and farmhouses, the architects sought to develop a design that opened up onto the surroundings, taking advantage of the unspoiled views.
a large roof both frames the landscape and shelters the family inside an open communal living room, placed to the south of the plot. in contrast, more private programs, including bedrooms, bathrooms and storage areas, are located to the north, establishing gradual layers of seclusion.
made of 2×12 rafters spaced 455mm apart, the 45-degree pitched roof rests on a simple 105x105mm wooden framework and uses structural plywood to ensure that the building is resistant to earthquakes. from the upper level, a fully glazed gable presents views of the rural landscape, bathing the entirety of property in natural light.

Saitama Prefecture (埼玉県, Saitama-ken?) is a prefecture of Japan located in the Kantō region of the island of Honshu. The capital is the city of Saitama.
This prefecture is part of the Greater Tokyo Area, and most of Saitama's cities can be described as suburbs of Tokyo, to which a large amount of residents commute each day.[citation needed]
Saitama Prefecture was formerly part of the old Musashi Province.
In the fifth year of the Keiun era (708), deposits of copper were reported to have been found in the Chichibu District of what is now Saitama Prefecture.
The Saitama area was historically known as a fertile agricultural region which produced much of the food for the Kantō region. During the Edo period, many fudai daimyo ruled small domains within the Saitama area.
After World War II, as Tokyo expanded rapidly and modern transportation allowed longer commutes, the lack of available land in Tokyo led to the rapid development of Saitama Prefecture, whose population has nearly tripled since 1960. Most of the cities in the prefecture are closely connected to downtown Tokyo by metropolitan rail, and operate largely as residential and commercial suburbs of Tokyo.

This time, it came to the "Honkawagoe Festival" Cityscape is a place to leave the Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture of the most Edo period (17th and 18th centuries) in the Kanto. This festival has been carried out in mid-October every year.
Festivals, cuisine, culture, now of Japanese life, city old and new streets, the it is possible to experience a time not so much. The Shinjuku and Akihabara was different again "normal Japan" is I want to once experience.
And because it arrives in about one hour until Honkawagoe Station Seibu Shinjuku Line coming out from Shinjuku, it is relaxed and fun go while watching the everyday Japanese cityscape from the train.

Saitama Kawagoe - 川越 - 4K Ultra HD : Located outside of Tokyo and just barely 30 minutes away from Tokyo central train station, Kawagoe has been made famous over the centuries for its Kurazukuri buildings (warehouses) from the Edo Period and its many suppliers of commodities to the people of Tokyo. Thanks to its many businesses and its strategical purpose, past Shoguns installed many of their most loyal men and lords in Kawagoe and its castle to secure this strategic business hub.
Today however, Kawagoe has lost its purpose and became, with time, a nice little tourist attraction outside of Tokyo that offers many nice souvenirs and Japanese treats. While it still features some stunning Edo designed buildings, the main historic street is today unfortunately disfigured by the wrath of heavy traffic. The non-stop onslaught of buses and trucks all day long annihilate any hope of enjoying this otherwise truly fantastic and well preserved “Little Edo”.
