Boston (pronounced /ˈbɒstən/ or locally /ˈbɔstən/ (
listen)) is the capital of and largest city in Massachusetts, and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. The largest city in New England, Boston is regarded as the unofficial "Capital of New England" for its economic and cultural impact on the entire New England region. The city proper, covering only 48.43 square miles, had a population of 617,594 according to the 2010 U.S. Census. Greater Boston as a commuting region is home to 7.6 million people, making it the fifth-largest Combined Statistical Area in the United States.
In 1630, Puritan colonists from England founded the city on the Shawmut Peninsula. During the late 18th century, Boston was the location of several major events during the American Revolution, including the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Several early battles of the American Revolution, such as the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston, occurred within the city and surrounding areas. Through land reclamation and municipal annexation, Boston has expanded beyond the peninsula. After American independence was attained Boston became a major shipping port and manufacturing center, and its rich history now helps attract many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone attracting over 20 million every year. The city was the site of several firsts, including America's first public school, Boston Latin School (1635), and the first subway system in the United States (1897).

Fallout 4 's gameplay is similar to that of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, the previous two main entries in the series. Returning features include a camera that can switch from first person to third person view and the ability to roam anywhere on the map. Fallout 4 is supposed to feature more appealing gameplay, a layered armor system, base-building, a dynamic dialogue system featuring 111,000 lines of dialogue, an in-depth crafting system which implements every lootable object in the game, and much more. Enemies such as mole rats, raiders, super-mutants, deathclaws, and feral ghouls will return to Fallout 4, along with the companion Dogmeat, who is incapable of dying.
Players have the ability to roam anywhere on the map, or leave a conversation at any time. They have the ability to customize weapons; the game includes over 50 base guns, which can be crafted with a variety of modifications, such as barrel types and laser focus, with over 700 modifications available. Power Armor has been redesigned to be more like a vehicle than an equipable suit of armor, and can also be modified, adding items such as a jetpack or selecting separate types of armor for each part of the suit. A new feature to the series is the ability to craft and deconstruct settlements and buildings. Players can select some in-game objects and structures, and use them to freely build their own structures. In addition, the towns can be powered with working electricity, using a dynamic power line system. Merchants and non-player characters can inhabit players' towns, for which players must provide sustenance by growing food in makeshift patches and building water spouts. Players can build various defenses around their settlements, such as turrets and traps, to defend against random attacks.
The Pip-Boy, a computerized wristwatch, allows the player to access a menu with statistics, maps, data, and items. Players can find game cartridges, which can be played on the Pip-Boy. Another returning gameplay feature is the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.), which plays an important part in combat. While using V.A.T.S., real-time combat is slowed down, and action is played out from varying camera angles in a computer graphics version of "bullet time". Various actions cost action points, limiting the actions of each combatant during a period of time, and the player can target specific body areas for attacks to inflict specific injuries; head shots can be used for quick kills or blinding, legs can be targeted to slow enemies' movements, and opponents can be disarmed by shooting at their weapons. Unlike in previous games, in which the player had a random chance to inflict a critical hit, they can now be done at will with a button press. However, the option requires a recharge afterwards.

HOUSTON (AP) The Boston Celtics were playing their fifth game in seven days on Monday night.
With the energy and hustle they showed in a blowout win over the Houston Rockets it was certainly hard to tell.
Isaiah Thomas scored 23 points and the Celtics used a 32-point third quarter to pull away and cruise to a 111-95 win over the slumping Rockets.
Avery Bradley was asked how they're able to keep playing with such intensity in such a tough stretch of games.
"This is the NBA," he said. "If you can't, you shouldn't be in the NBA honestly."
It is the third straight win for the Celtics and gives Houston a four-game losing streak for the first time since the team dropped seven straight in January 2013.
Coach Kevin McHale doesn't feel like he's getting 100 percent from his team.
"At times, I wouldn't say full effort all the time, no," he said. "Things aren't going our way and we hang our head. We haven't put together really good basketball all year long."
Boston led by 4 after a 3-pointer by James Harden with 3 1/3 minutes left in the third quarter. The Celtics closed out the quarter by scoring 15 straight points to take an 87-68 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Celtics rode the momentum from their strong third quarter into the early part of the fourth quarter and used a 13-4 run to open the period and extend the lead to 100-72. Bradley scored seven points with a dunk and a 3-pointer to lead the team in that stretch.
McHale pulled most of Houston's starters after that.
Bradley finished with 21 points and made four 3-pointers and Jae Crowder added 16 points.
Trevor Ariza led Houston with 19 points and Harden had 16.
The Rockets led by as many as 15 in the first quarter, but the Celtics got going in the second and it was tied 55-55 at halftime.
"We were more locked in, hands were up, more deflection oriented," coach Brad Stevens said of Boston's play after the first quarter.
Houston was up by 1 after a dunk by Ariza in the third quarter. The Celtics scored the next eight points to take a 67-61 lead with about 5 1/2 minutes left in quarter.
Houston had three turnovers in that span and went more than 2 1/2 minutes without scoring. Ariza finally broke the drought with a 3-pointer with 5:22 left in the third. But the Rockets shooting woes would soon return, allowing the Celtics to build the lead.
Bradley made 3-pointers on consecutive possessions near the end of Boston's big run, causing the visitor's bench and the few Celtics fans in the crowd to go wild. The players on the bench jumped up and down and held three fingers in the air.
Houston missed six straight shots and had a turnover as Boston built the lead and the Rockets managed just 13 points in the quarter.

Unfortunately, the city was thrust onto the world stage in 2013 for all the wrong reasons when three people were killed and more than 100 maimed during a terrorist attack during the Boston Marathon. Despite this, the city has rallied together and has proved it will stand staunch in the face of violence.
Founded in 1630, a stroll through the city is like reading pages from a history book. Key moments in the country's history from the American Revolution to the abolition of slavery are celebrated and encapsulated in numerous buildings and monuments. The best way to appreciate what the city has to offer is to pound its winding network of streets and diverse neighbourhoods - it's so compact and easy to navigate on foot and driving around the city is a nightmare.
From upmarket Beacon Hill and studenty Harvard to the Italian North End, Irish-influenced Southie' and Back Bay, with its shops and cafes. Like London, each district has its own charms and attractions. In fact, many visitors consider Boston to be one of the most European cities in North America.
Needless to say, it's attractive, enhanced by its natural waterfront setting -- Boston has a historic harbour and the meandering Charles River. In addition, numerous parks and a hot and sunny climate mean there is plenty to satisfy outdoor-lovers in the summer from bike rides to picnics and concerts. Whale watching cruises and the chance to go bird-watching in one of the city's 30-plus islands, which make up a national park, mean there are plenty of natural gems too close. As one of America's oldest cities, and the capital of Massachusetts, Boston's modern, vibrant streets echo its revolutionary past. Beyond being a historic milestone, Boston is also a thriving metropolis, rich with culture and hidden beauty.
Unfortunately, the city was thrust onto the world stage in 2013 for all the wrong reasons when three people were killed and more than 100 maimed during a terrorist attack during the Boston Marathon. Despite this, the city has rallied together and has proved it will stand staunch in the face of violence.
Founded in 1630, a stroll through the city is like reading pages from a history book. Key moments in the country's history from the American Revolution to the abolition of slavery are celebrated and encapsulated in numerous buildings and monuments. The best way to appreciate what the city has to offer is to pound its winding network of streets and diverse neighbourhoods - it's so compact and easy to navigate on foot and driving around the city is a nightmare.
From upmarket Beacon Hill and studenty Harvard to the Italian North End, Irish-influenced Southie' and Back Bay, with its shops and cafes. Like London, each district has its own charms and attractions. In fact, many visitors consider Boston to be one of the most European cities in North America.
Needless to say, it's attractive, enhanced by its natural waterfront setting -- Boston has a historic harbour and the meandering Charles River. In addition, numerous parks and a hot and sunny climate mean there is plenty to satisfy outdoor-lovers in the summer from bike rides to picnics and concerts. Whale watching cruises and the chance to go bird-watching in one of the city's 30-plus islands, which make up a national park, mean there are plenty of natural gems too close. However, autumn is also a popular time to visit, when trees in the city burst with flaming reds, browns and yellows, part of the legendary New England fall foliage.
A recommended spot to see the city in all its glory is from the Skywalk Observatory, on the 50th floor of the towering Prudential building.
