The Indian peafowl or blue peafowl (Pavo cristatus), a large and brightly colored bird, is a species of peafowl native to South Asia, but introduced in many other parts of the world.
The male peacock is predominantly blue with a fan-like crest of spatula-tipped wire-like feathers and is best known for the long train made up of elongated upper-tail covert feathers which bear colourful eyespots. These stiff feathers are raised into a fan and quivered in a display during courtship. Females lack the train, and have a greenish lower neck and duller brown plumage. The Indian peafowl lives mainly on the ground in open forest or on land under cultivation where they forage for berries, grains but also prey on snakes, lizards, and small rodents. Their loud calls make them easy to detect, and in forest areas often indicate the presence of a predator such as a tiger. They forage on the ground in small groups and usually try to escape on foot through undergrowth and avoid flying, though they fly into tall trees to roost.
The function of the peacock's elaborate train has been debated for over a century. In the 19th century, Charles Darwin found it a puzzle, hard to explain through ordinary natural selection. His later explanation, sexual selection, is widely but not universally accepted. In the 20th century, Amotz Zahavi argued that the train was a handicap, and that males were honestly signalling their fitness in proportion to the splendour of their trains. Despite extensive study, opinions remain divided on the mechanisms involved.
The bird is celebrated in Indian and Greek mythology and is the national bird of India. The Indian peafowl is listed as of Least Concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

Young Assamese dancers perform Bihu dance during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of BSF in Delhi.
The Bihu Dance is one of the most colourful folk dances of India. Bihu is generic to celebration in an agricultural society. For the people of Assam, Bihu is not only a festival, but also a time for celebration. The Assamese people celebrate three different Bihu festivals, Bohag Bihu or Rangoli Bihu, celebrated in Spring, Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu celebrated in Winter and Kongali Bihu or Kati Bihu celebrated in Autumn. The Bihu dance is a traditional heritage of Assam and the festival helps to strengthen the unity in diversity among the people of Assam. During the revelry, the banks of the Brahmaputra come alive with the rhythms of the dhol (drum) and pepa (flute).
The dancers perform in a circle beginning with a slower tempo, which gradually gains momentum. Drums, cymbals, hornpipes, harps and bamboo clappers, provide musical accompaniment. Though the dance is inspired by agricultural operations, the songs and the graceful dancing builds up an atmosphere of love and romance. The dance has been noted for maintaining authenticity and at the same time displaying the traditional Assamese handlooms and handicrafts in their beauty and glory. The costume worn by the women consists of a Gitigee (kind of headgear), Agoo (mekhala) and Lagu Richa (chaddar). Beautiful ornaments are their accessories. The men wear a Dhoti, Gomocha (Towel) and Chapkan (shirt).

Brunei, officially the Nation of Brunei, the Abode of Peace (Malay: Negara Brunei Darussalam, Jawi: نڬارا بروني دارالسلام), is a sovereign state located on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. Apart from its coastline with the South China Sea, the country is completely surrounded by the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is separated into two parts by the Sarawak district of Limbang. Brunei is the only sovereign state completely on the island of Borneo; the remainder of the island's territory is divided between the nations of Malaysia and Indonesia. Brunei's population was 408,786 in July 2012.
At the peak of the Bruneian Empire, Sultan Bolkiah (reigned 1485–1528) is alleged to have had control over most regions of Borneo, including modern-day Sarawak and Sabah, as well as the Sulu archipelago off the northeast tip of Borneo, Seludong (modern-day Manila), and the islands off the northwest tip of Borneo. The maritime state was visited by Spain's Magellan Expedition in 1521 and fought against Spain in 1578's Castille War.
During the 19th century, the Bruneian Empire began to decline. The Sultanate ceded Sarawak (Kuching) to James Brooke and installed him as the White Rajah, and it ceded Sabah to the British North Borneo Chartered Company. In 1888, Brunei became a British protectorate and was assigned a British resident as colonial manager in 1906. After the Japanese occupation during World War II, in 1959 a new constitution was written. In 1962, a small armed rebellion against the monarchy was ended with the help of the British.
Brunei gained its independence from the United Kingdom on 1 January 1984. Economic growth during the 1990s and 2000s, with the GDP increasing 56% from 1999 to 2008, transformed Brunei into an industrialised country. It has developed wealth from extensive petroleum and natural gas fields. Brunei has the second-highest Human Development Index among the Southeast Asia nations, after Singapore, and is classified as a "developed country". According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Brunei is ranked fifth in the world by gross domestic product per capita at purchasing power parity. The IMF estimated, in 2011, that Brunei was one of two countries (the other being Libya) with a public debt at 0% of the national GDP. Forbes also ranks Brunei as the fifth-richest nation out of 182, based on its petroleum and natural gas fields.

The First Annual Future of War Conference brings together a diverse, interdisciplinary collection of experts to discuss the profound social, political, economic, and cultural implications of the changing nature of war and conflict. The theme of the event is “How is Warfare Changing?,” which we explore through a consideration of three sub-themes: “How Are Emerging Technologies and Strategies Redefining the Practice of War?;” “Are We Living in a Forever War?;” and “Can We Better Understand How Warfare is Evolving by Reflecting on History?” The conference also launches the Future of War Project, which links New America, a DC-based think tank and civic engagement enterprise, and Arizona State University, one of the nation’s largest and most innovative public research universities.
CNN is the leading media partner for the conference and will live-stream panels on CNN.com. DefenseOne will also be a media partner for this event.

Travel video about destination South East Asia.
South East Asia is a fascinating, atmospheric and exotic world full of unspoiled nature and cultural treasures and a region in which both past and present live side by side and unite in a wonderful way. Myanmar, The Land Of Golden Pagodas: for decades the rulers of what was once known as Burma closed the country’s doors to the outside world and many of its fine religious sanctuaries were badly neglected but they have now gradually been given the respect that they deserve. Inlay Lake is home to the Inthas, one of the many tribes that came to Myanmar from various of South East Asia’s neighbouring countries. Throughout the area are the floating plantations of the Inthas on which tomatoes, cucumbers and beans are cultivated. A journey on the Shan State Express provides passengers with a fascinating insight into the life of the Shan people whose lives are dominated by agriculture. The north west of Myanmar is known for its many splendid sacred buildings such as Mingun’s Hsinbyume Pagoda that was built at the beginning of the nineteenth century. It was constructed according to the architectural rules of Hindu Buddhist cosmology and symbolizes the World Mountain of Meru.. One of Taiwan’s most important centres of arts and crafts is located in the west of the island, Lukang, an ancient and idyllic town full of age-old traditions whose large number of beautiful temples is most impressive. In Cambodia and around forty kilometres north of Phnom Penh is the former capital city of Udong. Today only the remains of the city’s former splendid buildings indicate that it was the last centre of Angkor’s power with hundreds of dwellings and temples. The ruins of Ayutthaya indicate the impressive dimensions of the former capital of ancient Thailand and one of the mightiest royal cities in South East Asia.
