According to Katerina Peristeri who was the head of the Amphipolis tomb excavation, the monument was a funerary heroon (hero worship shrine) dedicated to Hephaestion, the close companion of Alexander the Great.
Peristeri and her head architect Michalis Lefantzis said they had found three inscriptions with the word "PARELAVON" (meaning "received") and Hephaestion's monogramme.
Archaeologists have also so far unearthed:
Two marble sphinxes approximately that guard the main entrance to the tomb, missing their heads and wings.
Two female statues of the Caryatid type in the antechamber
A marble door, typical of Macedonian tomb doors, broken into pieces in front of the doorway to the third chamber
A mosaic in the third chamber which depicts Persephone abducted by the god Pluto, ruler of the underworld, wearing a laurel wreath and driving a chariot drawn by horses led by the god Hermes, the conductor of souls to the afterlife
The head of the eastern sphinx in the third and last chamber
Fragments of the wings of the sphinxes in the third chamber
An eight square meter vault and a marble door in the third chamber
The skeletal remains of 5 unidentified people
It is believed that the Lion of Amphipolis, a monument found decades ago, stood at the top of the tumulus at Casta Hill.

Archaeologists are clueless as to whose skeleton the INFANT is.
500 Skeletal Human Bones found belonging to 5 Humans. Many animal bones were also found. This was the main reason for the delay in releasing the SKELETON Information. It was because the GRAVE of CHAMBE 3 contained 5 HUMAN SKELETONS.
Of the 5 HUMAN SKELETONS FOUND: The 4 skeletons had BURIAL whereas one MALE Skeleton was CREMATED.
The WOMAN's skeleton is about 60+ years of age and was 157 cm tall. (She was age and height of ALEXANDER the GREAT"S mother, OLYMPIAS.
The 2 men who were BURIED were 167cm and 163 cm tall. The second of these two men had many CUT MARKS from sword/lance fights. These two MALE Skeletons were between 35 and 45 years of age.
The 3rd MALE Skeleton was CREMATED in the Ancient Greek Tradition. That is the Crematory fire was NOT HOT enough to consume the BONES. The bones remained after the CREMATION of the FLESH. NOE: ALEXANDER the GREAT WAS CREMATED and WAS LATER TAKEN to MACEDONIA, AMPHIPOLIS GREECE to be reburied.
AMPHIPOLIS TOMB LATEST - 5 PEOPLE, 1 Woman, 3 Men and 1 Newborn.
The information in the video is my bried translation of the Greek Ministry of Culture's Press Releases of Jan 19 and Jan 21, 2015.
The images of the Skeletons are pictures of Public Domain of the Press Releases of Jan 19 and Jan 21, 2015.
DNA tests are being performed by Forensic Experts as to the lineage of the 5 HUMANS.
It is my hunch that the WOMAN'S SKELETON MAY in fact be the skelton of ALEXANDER'the GREAT'S mother, OLYMPIAS. It is not inconceivable that the CREMATED SKELETON could be that of ALEXANDER the GREAT, who was CREMATED and originally buried in Egypt but then his officers voted and decided to rebury him in MACEDONIA of GREECE, and especially in the AMPHIPOLIS area where ALEXANDER had VOWED to build a TEMPLE. Alexander's remains were moved to Macedonia,Greece when the 2 Kings of the GREEK EMPIRE had decided to rule from Northern Greece.

Recenet findings in Amphipolis Tomb. Archaeologists believe Alexander the Great could logically and possibly be buried in Amphipolis, since it was the place from which he began his conquest of Asia. It is also the place where his mother, Olympiada brought back his wife Roxanne and their small child, Alexander the IV, after his death in India in 323 BC.
Alexander the Great conquered the PERSIAN EMPIRE with ONLY 3 BATTLES: Granikus, Issus, and Gavgamila (Havila) all within 3 years.
Let us remember, that ALL THIS WAS PROPHECIED IN THE BOOK OF DANIEL (Daniel CH 8) where the Archangel Gabriel informed the Prophet Daniel of the future "little goat with the small horn coming from the West, that is Greece).
Therefore, it is logical that his mother and his wife would wish his body to be buried here in Amphipolis as its final resting place.
Cassander, who married Alexander the Great's sister, Thessaloniki, had Roxanne and her 12 year old son murdered in oder for him to gain the throne of Alexander the Great in Macedonia. He also had Alexander's mother murdered. It is said that cassander could not pass a statue of Alexander the Great without feeling faints (from all the injustice he had done to Alexander's wife and heir and mother).

wn.com/Amphipolis Tomb Recent Findings, Alexander The Great, Importance Of Amphipolis

The Amphipolis Tomb (also known as the Kasta or CastaTomb) is an ancient Macedonian tomb discovered in Amphipolis, Central Macedonia, in northern Greece in 2012 and first entered in August 2014. The tomb is dated around 300-325 B.C., and it is the largest burial monument ever discovered in Greece.
Archaeologists have so far unearthed:
The skeletal remains of 5 unidentified people
It was originally presumed that the Lion of Amphipolis, a monument found decades ago, stood at the top of the tumulus at Casta Hill but now experts claim that the lion was too heavy to have stood at the top of the tomb.

The Ministry of Culture of Greece has yet to inform the publis regarding the recently found SKELETON of the AMPHIPOLIS TOMB. The next PR statement is to be given Nov. 29th.
AMPHIPOLIS TOMB shows ALEXANDER the GREAT connection.
The "MYSTERIOUS FEMALE STATUES" of KLODONES Caryatids guarding the TOMB indicate that this tomb can only belong TO ONE PERSON. And this peron can ONLY BE OLYMPIAS, Alexander the Great's mother.
Olympias did partake in the mysteries of the Dionysian Cult and together with the KLODONES Priestesses of that cult.
These images of the AMPHIPOLIS TOMB STATUES PROVE that they are NOT CARYATIDS, but that THEY ARE IN FACT "KLODONES" which used to take part in the Dionysian Mysteries, of drinking and frenzied orgies together with SNAKE-WORSHIP.

Why has Amphipolis captured the imagination of contemporary Greeks to such an extent? In this joint public lecture, Dr. Karavas discussed the overall significance of Amphipolis (as a site) from the times of its foundation down to late antiquity by focusing on its main historical “highlights” while Professor Plantzos endeavored to explain the intricacies of classical appreciation and reception in contemporary Greece by way of an introduction to modern-Greek culture politics, or Amphipolitics, as a more appropriate description might be in the present circumstances. Spring semester students will be visiting the site with one of the speakers in the video, CYA professor John Karavas, and will explore in person its rich material wealth and tradition.

It is believed that the Lion of Amphipolis, a monument found decades ago, stood at the top of the tumulus at Casta Hill.

Archaeologists in Greece have found an ancient skeleton and grave in the northern city of Amphipolis.
Speculation is running wild about who could be buried there.
Decorative bone and glass fragments that adorned the coffin suggest the tomb was a very prominent figure perhaps connected to Alexander the Great.
A lot of marble indicates it was expensive to build.
The tomb in Amphipolis has been gradually unearthed over the last two years.
The ministry of culture said it's the biggest tomb foun…
