The International Monetary Fund’s decision to include China’s yuan currency in its special drawing rights basket won’t amount to a whole lot for investors, according to one expert. ‘It’s not like when a stock gets added to the S&P; 500, where all of a sudden there are fund managers that need to buy it,’ said Greg Anderson, head of FX strategy at BMO Capital Markets, based in New York. ‘Nobody needs to go out and buy renminbi tomorrow because it was put in the SDR basket - no one buys the SDR basket, but it’s a symbol that the IMF approves of what the reformers have been doing with the currency.’ The yuan’s reserve status puts it on similar footing as the dollar, euro, pound and the Japanese yen, currencies already included in the prestigious basket. But with this, the pressure is on for China to become transparent and allow its currency to trade more freely. ‘The reformers in China have won a big victory,’ Anderson said. ‘I think it is an important step along the path towards what I think everyone wants them to get to eventually, which is a freely traded and floating currency.’ TheStreet’s Scott Gamm has details from New York.

Of course, the issue of differentiations would be at the core of our concern for the Paris agreement. And we would like to see that the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities would be clear, stable in the Paris agreement and be reflected in all the places in the Paris agreement," said Liu.
Sticking to the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities," the emerging and developing countries have demanded the developed countries fulfill their obligations in reducing emissions and helping developing countries tackle climate change, Liu said.
He noted that the Chinese delegation "has actively and constructively participated in the negotiations" during the Paris climate conference.
Referring to the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC), Liu said that the INDC was determined and submitted by individual countries and it was not just China’s request for differentiation but a request from all members of developing countries.
"We share that position. This is the position of developing countries. We are in the same situation with most developing countries, because I think our contribution has been very ambitious. But I think with regard to our ability, our national conditions to accomplish that contribution, we still have some difficulties. We need to do our best to conquer these difficulties. That's why I speak for the process. There needs to be more encouragement, but we should avoid any punitive measures. So I think it will be quite legitimate, quite reasonable, to insist on some kind of differentiation in that process," Liu said.

The Dallas Morning News reprinted an article from The New York Times titled:
“3 worker rights leaders held in China crackdown.”
The article noted labor rights advocates in China have been arrested. The Communist government made the arrest fearing “labor rights” will upset the social order in China. The article illustrated another example where the Communist government in China has converted China’s nickname “The Middle Kingdom” to “The Magic Kingdom.”
The article indicated a number of those arrested by Communist authorities “had disappeared.” This modus operandi is emblematic of the Communist thuggery. The same “disappeared” faith has befallen Communist Party victims in East Turkestan (Xingjian) among the Muslim population and in Tibet with Buddhists Tibetans.
Remember: “Made in China.”

China's President Xi and Obama discuss climate change by phone
China's President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday that their countries should step up efforts to reach a climate change deal, state media ...
China's President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday that their countries should step up efforts to reach a climate change deal, state media said, as leaders try to bridge gaps between rich and developing countries at talks in Paris.
Negotiators from 195 countries remain divided over fundamental issues, including which countries would be expected to shell out the hundreds of billions of dollars required to help developing nations shift from fossil fuels to lower-carbon energy sources.
That sticking point has accentuated backroom tension between the United States and China, the world's two largest carbon emitters, over what U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has called the "minimalist" approach by countries that could make a greater financial contribution.
Chinese negotiators have avoided discussion of specific details but have indicated there is room for compromise.
"As the Paris climate summit negotiations near their end, China and the United States must strengthen coordination with all parties, and work together to ensure the Paris climate summit reaches an accord as scheduled," Xi told Obama in a telephone call on Friday.
"This will be beneficial for the international community," China Central Television (CCTV) cited Xi as saying.
"The United States is willing to maintain close coordination with China to achieve success at the Paris climate summit," the broadcaster cited Obama as saying.
Xi and Obama met at the start of the U.N. climate talks on Nov. 30, and pledged cooperation to reach an agreement.
Negotiations are taking longer than planned to overcome disputes and will last an extra day into Saturday, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.
Many participants remain haunted by the calamitous failure to get a deal in Copenhagen in 2009, the last time the world tried to reach a consensus on dealing with climate change.
China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying called on all countries to "narrow differences".
"At the moment, there's still some distance to cover before reaching a final consensus on the deal," Hua told a regular news briefing.

China took a bold action on Tuesday, resulting in the biggest one-day drop in the value of its currency since a massive devaluation in 1994. Martin Jacques: Understanding the rise of China
http://www.ted.com Speaking at a TED Salon in London, economist Martin Jacques asks: How do we in the West make sense of China and its phenomenal rise? The author of "When China Rules the World," he examines why the West often puzzles over the growing power of the Chinese economy, and offers three building blocks for understanding what China is and will become.

Beijing and Washington are not mere ships passing each other in the South China Sea – they are the two countries vying to play the commanding role in Asia. While China seeks to redress what it sees as violations of its sovereignty, Washington does have policy options, but are any of them effective?

Chinese markets plunged on Monday in the biggest loss since the financial crash of 2007.
There is growing concern among investors that the world's second-biggest economy is declining more than previously thought. The government has injected $100 billion into banks to help spur the economy.
Earlier, China's central bank devalued the yuan in a move seen as a bid to help exports.
But what is causing this decline? And what are the ramifications for the global economy?

Crackdown: The report on Uigher protests that broke relations between China and Australia
Xinjiang province has long been the site of ethnic tensions between the Uighur population and Chinese rule. Amid fears that fanatical Uighurs are aligning with foreign extremists, the state crackdown is fiercer than ever.
"A normal person wouldn't raise a butcher's knife to the elderly and children. Can we still call them human beings?", asks policeman Ainiding Memtimin. In May he was on the scene when a group of extremists threw explosives into a busy Urumqi marketplace, killing 39 people. A Uighur himself, like most locals he is baffled by such drastic violent acts. Yet the tensions that have simmered in this region are sitting on a knife edge. "Injustice is everywhere here, but we can't talk about it", says one Uighur farmer in a snatched interview. On Xinjiang's highways, cars are now being stopped for full airport-style security checks. The government keeps a close eye on religious institutions and veils for women and beards for men are actively discouraged. Teaching in the Uighur language is disappearing in schools and it's almost non-existent at universities. And it isn't just the Uighurs feeling the crackdown; enormous numbers of Han Chinese have been pressed into the province to water down the Uighurs' presence and influence. In some towns, payments are being offered for inter-marriage. But is China's central government using a sledgehammer to crack a nut? This report doggedly pushes past the press restrictions and government minders to tackle this difficult question.

Revolution and its sizzling Economic Revolution. But you haven't heard about its other great social upheaval - the Chinese Sexual Revolution - and like everything in that country it's happening at warp speed. It's China's version of the 60s revolution - on steroids.
China's Sexual Revolution is the world's first glimpse - often using secret cameras - into this forbidden new China. It's a surprising portrait of the Chinese today: the new free love generation that's left their parents in shock; the booming sex industry that's creating an HIV crisis; the new generation of career women and feminists that suddenly wants it all - while millions of men feel left out.
This long untold story goes back to the days of Chairman Mao, who made sexuality a great taboo. He ordered everyone to wear unisexual Mao suits, and forbid women from wearing sexy clothing, getting stylish haircuts, or even wearing make-up. Men and women were expected to be comrades - not lovers - though Mao himself enjoyed an emperor's sex life, seeking virgins to retain his "youthö".
China's sexual libido was bottled up for 50 years, but now its bursting loose, with dramatic effects on marriage, personal freedom and the government itself.

China took a bold action on Tuesday, resulting in the biggest one-day drop in the value of its currency since a massive devaluation in 1994. The country devalued the Yuan by 1.9% -- a fall it said was due to changes aimed at making the way it sets exchange rates more market-oriented. It comes just after new data released showed a weakening of trade in the world’s second largest economy. Ameera David weighs in.
Then, Ameera is joined by CCTV business reporter Shraysi Tandon. Shraysi tells us what she thinks is the main drivers behind the decision to devalue the Chinese currency and gives us her take on if the government is panicking.
After the break, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at the new agreement struck between Greece and it’s European creditors. The deal includes securing €86 billion to Greece over a three-year period, as long as they impose a number of economic reforms, like deregulating the natural gas market.
Afterwards, Ameera and Erin Ade talk about Google’s new parent company, Alphabet. Erin tells us why Google is reorganizing and explains why some people have compared the move to Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward Harrison continue the discussion on China.

Most international law experts believe that China's so-called "indisputable sovereignty" over its maritime claim in the South China Sea has little merit, and is illegal under the United Convention on the Law of the Sea. The United States said that China's expansive claim increases the risk of confrontation, undermines regional stability, and dims the prospects for diplomacy, and paved the way for "US pivot" to Pacific. Philippines declares the claim is illegal and violates Philippines' and other nations' sovereign rights under UNCLOS. The Vietnamese president said that it has no legal foundation and scientific basis and rejected China's assertion. China defends its claim citing historical basis, most of which were taken from its imperial archives and ancient records. It has recently intensified its claim in the South China Sea which many believe to be a "gunboat diplomacy" against its weaker maritime neighbors.
South China Sea is composed of three main areas: Spratlys, (the biggest); Paracel, (the next biggest); and Scarborough Shoal (the smallest). All of them are being claimed by People's Republic of China and Taiwan. Spratlys is also being claimed partly by the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, and Indonesia; Scarborough by the Philippines; and Paracel by Vietnam.
CORRECTION: Indonesia is not a claimant of the Spratlys. Natuna Islands, an Indonesian territory in the northwestern waters of Borneo and which China also claims is not part of the Spratlys.

The Qin empire was founded at end of a war between a few powers that had lasted for more than two centuries. And it was the result of a development that created a highly centralized bureaucratic state out of a loose feudal system. While the rule of the two Qin emperors endured not even two decades, it marks nonetheless the beginning of a more than two thousand years long history of a centralized state with an emperor being the head of thousands of officers in a state with a likewise uniform culture.
Literature, thought, religion and philosophy
Apart from his great achievements that were actually the base for the foundation also of the Han empire, the First Emperor was blamed to have burned the books (fen “burning” might be a writing error for the character jin “prohibiting”) and buried alive the (Confucian) scholars. The only books that were not forbidden, are writings about medicine, herbs, divining and agriculture. Inspite of later slanderings by Han time scholars which made him not only a murderer but also a bastard of a merchant, arts and thinking were still going on under the First Emperor and prepared the great flourishing of literature and philosophy under the Han Dynasty.
Although the practical polity of the Qin rulers was legist and thus severe, bureaucratic and austere, the inscriptions in the steles the First Emperor had erected, also show that Confucian thinking like filial piety, humanity and righteousness of the ruler was still going on. The emperor himself was very interested in Daoist practices to prolong his life or to gain immortality. He sent out an expedition to search for the islands of immortality called Penglai. Generations of scholars tried to find out what country was meant with “Penglai” , some say, Japan, some even argue Penglai was America. After the proclamation as the First Emperor, he changed the official colors to black according to the theory of the Five Elements and their cosmic influence. Metors, flood and drought was a heavenly hint to him as well as it has been to the former Zhou kings. A comprehensive anthology of philosophical thinking around 250 BC is the “Spring and Autumn collection of Master Lü” Lüshi Chunqiu, compiled by the chancellor Lü Buwei.
Like the Zhou Dynasty, the Qin Dynasty’s homelands were in the far west, between nomadic tribes, giving it probably more warfare energy than the people of the states in the Yellow River basin. One king of Qin is said to have died from an injury sustained during a contest in lifting a bronze vessel.
Hundred Schools of Thought
In the turbulent Spring and Autumn Period (770-476BC) and Warring States Period (475-221BC), many schools of thought were flourishing. The four most influential schools of thought that evolved during this period were Confucianism, Taoism, Mohism, and Legalism. There were also other schools like Yin & Yang, Eclectics, Logicians, Coalition persuaders and Militarism. The hundred schools of thought showed the fierce political and class struggles for survival among regional wars between the rising landed class and slaveholder class. The flouring thoughts intensified activities and debates in the intellectual and ideology system in ancient China and exerted great influence on Chinese culture.
Confucianism
Confucius was the founder of Confucianism. He advocated a set of moral code on basis of five merits: benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness. Among them, benevolence was considered as the cornerstone, which stands for faithfulness, filial piety, tolerance and kindness. He also requested people to keep in good harmony with each other and establish a community ruled by standard manners and behavior.
Mencius (372-289BC) was a Confucian in the Warring States Period (475-221BC). He repeatedly tried to convince rulers that the ruler should cultivate moral perfection in order to set a good example to the people and the ruler who governed benevolently would earn the respect of the people. He held the view that human nature was fundamentally good as everyone is born with the ability to recognize what is right and act upon it. He also believed that people were more important than rulers.
Thank You!
God Bless!!!
