Corcovado National Park and specifically Sirena biological research Station is the best place in the world to see this species. Throughout a 2.5 days stay we saw at least 7 or 8 individuals throughout the park, in over 10 encounters, even right near the research station where visitors reading a book or relaxing on a hammock enjoyed watching it. Not that reading a book or relaxing on a hammock is my choice activity in Corcovado National Park (why would you come this far to one of the most remote and biodiverse regions in the world to read a book?) but to each his own.
Regardless, this is a nice representation of some of the exotic wildlife encounters you can expect on the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica

Zoo Tycoon 2 carries the same game-play as Blue Fang Games' original video game Zoo Tycoon, which is to create and operate a zoo by creating exhibits and aquariums, keeping guests and animals happy, and maintaining employees, finances, terrain, and scenery. "Baird's tapir" , also known as the "Central American tapir", is a species of tapir native to Mexico, Central America and northwestern South America. It is one of four Latin American species of tapir.
Baird's tapir is named for the American naturalist Spencer Fullerton Baird, who traveled to Mexico in 1843 and observed the animals. However, the species was first documented by another American naturalist, W. T. White. The tapir is the largest land mammal in Central America.
Like the other Latin American tapirs , the Baird's tapir is commonly called "danta" by people in all areas. In the regions around Oaxaca and Veracruz, it is referred to as the "anteburro". Panamanians, and Colombians call it "macho de monte", and in Belize, where the Baird's tapir is the national animal, it is known as the mountain cow.
In Mexico, it is called "tzemen" in Tzeltal; in Lacandon, it is called "cash-i-tzimin", meaning "jungle horse" and in Tojolab'al it is called "niguanchan", meaning "big animal". In Panama, the Kunas people call the Baird's tapir "moli" in their colloquial language , "oloalikinyalilele", "oloswikinyaliler," or "oloalikinyappi" in their political language , and "ekwirmakka" or "ekwilamakkatola" in their spiritual language .
Baird's tapir has a distinctive cream-colored marking on its face and throat and a dark spot on each cheek, behind and below the eye. The rest of its hair is dark brown or grayish-brown. This tapir is the largest of the three American species and the largest native land mammal in both Central and South America. Baird's tapirs average 2 m in length but can range between 1.8 and, not counting a stubby, vestigal tail of 5 -, and 73 - in height. Body mass in adults can range from 150 to. Like the other species of tapirs, they have small, stubby tails and long, flexible proboscises. They have four toes on each front foot and three toes on each back foot.
