On November 24, 2015, the annual Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) Trans-Expo event took place in Montreal, Québec, Canada. This is where bus manufacturers and suppliers showcase their product for display for transit officials to see.
Alexander Dennis featured their newest version of their double decker bus product, the Enviro500 "Go-Anywhere" model, by "borrowing" OC Transpo's newest double decker bus (that is presently on order and delivery) for the Trans-Expo event. This is bus 8110, one of the 37 units that OC Transpo is expecting to receive (numbered 8101 to 8137).
Here is a walk around of the new bus. Note that there are slightly more seats on the lower level compared to the 2012 order (buses 8001 to 8075) due to the removal of the Maintenance Access Door.

On September 6, 2015, Hurdman Station was temporarily relocated slightly to the east in order build the future Hurdman Station for the O-Train Confederation Line, LRT conversion.
These two video clips were filmed on September 8, 2015, the first weekday of the temporary relocated station in operation. As seen in the first part of the video (AM rush hour), there were congestion issue resulting from this change and therefore caused major disruption in service. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
This was filmed while on Route 40 between Lycee Claudel and Lees Station going through Hurdman, with the perspective of going to/from the Southeast Transitway (also applicable to Routes 97 and 98). Regrettably, I'm unable to film from the perspective of the bus entering/exiting Hurdman via Riverside Drive/Industrial due to how the double decker buses are assigned to service on a regular basis.

Ottawa, Ontario's transit system, OC Transpo, has a "bus only" Transitway network. Hurdman Station is at an intersection of two Transitway branches just east of downtown. All buses passing through the station have to cross the intersection that I was taking video from. In the background is a layover area for buses that originate and terminate at Hurdman. Not shown in the background-left is another exit used by eastbound buses.
I shot this video on September 17th, 2012 from 3:15 to 4:00pm. In that 45-minute period, I actually ended up with 40 minutes of video, which gives you an idea of how many buses passed through the station after seeing the 10 minutes I lifted to post here.

Travelling with Rail transport - Crossing Canada on the Via Rail

The train trip started in Toronto, and took 3 nights and 2 full days. I arrived in Edmonton at the Via Rail station to meet my little brother and continue the Journey to my hometown.
The train journey across Canada was mostly spent relaxing and doing some wr

He blocked traffic, and tried asking for help, but the citizens of ottawa all wanted off. Luckily my friend helped the driver out on helping him get back to the turn he missed and helped guide him where to go.
The part where the driver realizes he misses the turn isn't recorded.

This is a special commemorative video of the 50th anniversary of the end of the streetcar system in Ottawa Canada.
Source and permission to use the video is from Raymond Langlois.
It has some never-seen-before footage taken WAY back in the 1950's of Ottawa Streetcars in action. It was taken by Lucien Dauphinais, a Montreal Tramways streetcar
operator, who came up to Ottawa on numerous occasions during the 1950's with his 8mm film movie camera.
Some of the colour footage is a little fuzzy, but it is still useful as it shows the street scenes in the late 1950s in Ottawa. Includes Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter scenes .
It also has scenes of the 1000 series streetcars in Ottawa, rare because only 4 of this type were made, and they were withdrawn from service some time before the end of the streetcar era in 1959.
Regular venue Streetcar service in Ottawa came to on April 30, 1959.
There was a final farewell parade of Ottawa streetcars held on May 2, 1959.
Some Ottawa streetcars (most of which were made in Ottawa by the Ottawa Car Company) can be found in various museums in North America. Most Notably: Expo Rail in Delson, Quebec (South of Montreal), the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport Maine, and the Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa. There are also the body of OTC streetcar 905, as well as the trucks and body of OTC streetcar 696 at the main OC Transpo Garage in Ottawa. Hopefully both of these streetcars will be fully restored at some time in near future.

http://www.euronews.com/2013/09/18/passenger-train-collides-with-bus-in-canadian-capital-fatalities-reported
Five people are reported to have been killed in a collision between a passenger train and a double-decker city bus in the Canadian city of Ottawa.
The front of the bus was sheared off by the collision on the track at a level crossing.
The train engine was derailed along with two of the carriages but all remained upright.
Ottawa Fire Services spokesman Marc Messier said fewer than six passengers on the bus were killed and around half a dozen more have been taken to hospital, at least three with serious injuries.
A police spokesman said the dead were the driver of the bus and four passengers.
Several witnesses, including two passengers on the bus, said it had been driven through a lowered level crossing barrier as the train was approaching.
The Canadian Press reported witness Pascal Lolgis as saying: "He didn't stop. He must have lost his brakes. Or he had an ... attack or whatever. He just didn't stop. He just keep going like that. Then he get hit."
VIA Rail, which operates the national passenger service in Canada, said there were no major injuries reported on the train. The crash occurred just before 9.00 am local time in the west end of Ottawa, Canada's capital city.

After a trip down Africa on a scooter, I returned to Canada in style. I jumped on the Via Rail train line across Canada on my return home. The train trip started in Toronto, and took 3 nights and 2 full days. I arrived in Edmonton at the Via Rail station to meet my little brother and continue the Journey to my hometown.
The train journey across Canada was mostly spent relaxing and doing some writing, but I also did a lot of reflecting about my past journey and my time spent in Africa. I spent a lot of time figuring out what the trip meant to me, where I want to be in life, and what travel means to me. Really, there is nothing better than being in a situation where you are forced to spend some time relaxing and reflecting.
Anyways, the adventure continues in Canada as I start season 2 of It's My Life 365 with a trip into Banff National Park. Stay tuned for that.

On a crisp January 21, 2012 with gorgeous blue skies we visited the Canadian parliament buildings in Ottawa. Focussing on the Centre Block, we started with a quick elevator ride up the Peace Tower from where we had an awesome 360 degree view all over the city. This portion of the parliament buildings was constructed between 1916 and 1927, after a fire ravaged the original building. Our free guided tour took us past the Commons and Senate chambers and introduced us to the intricate stone carvings and architectural details of this structure. The highlight was the Library of Parliament, the only portion of the original building not destroyed by fire. It was established in 1876 and contains over 600,000 items. On the north side of the Parliament buildings we enjoyed a magnificent view across the Ottawa River to Gatineau and the famous Museum of Civilization, Canada's most visited museum.
After our visit to the Canadian parliament buildings we embarked on one of Ottawa's favourite winter pastimes: skating on the Rideau Canal, the world's largest skating rink! The canal opened in 1832 and today is one of the city's most popular recreational zones. On a cold yet sunny winter day, hundreds of people were out getting exercise, warming up with coffee or hot chocolate, strengthening themselves with poutine (the lovely French Canadian fries with gravy and cheese), or eating Beavertails, a fried dough pastry that originated in Ottawa.
Following our invigorating exercise, we walked a few steps to the Chateau Laurier, a luxurious railway hotel and Ottawa's most prestigious hotel address. This venerable property was opened in 1912 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year. We sat down in Zoe's Lounge and enjoyed some snacks while accompanied by some piano music. At sunset we headed back to our bed and breakfast and enjoyed the view of the setting sun behind the Canadian parliament buildings.
Our abode for two nights was the historic Auberge King Edward where owner Richard Gervais and his lovely dog Sunny made us feel right at home.

On another sunny morning on June 10, 2010 after a reasonably restful sleep in my sleeper car on the train from Vienna to Rome, I left my compartment early in the morning to catch the final two hours of my train ride. I stepped out quietly to not wake my travel colleagues who were still sleeping. I saw the train station of Florence and the rolling hills of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio until we started rolling into the suburbs of Rome. One thing that amazed me right off the bat was the tremendous amount of graffiti that covered the train stations and even some of the train cars themselves.
Punctually at 9:05 am we arrived at Roma Termini, Rome's main railway station and an absolute nuthouse. More than 25 platforms service long-distance and local trains and people were buzzing about, arriving or looking for their train connections. I made my way to my hotel which was just minutes away from the train station, rested up for a bit and headed out for my first discoveries of Rome.
I decided to hop on one of the popular double-decker sightseeing buses to get the lay of the land and was whisked by 20 stops, all covering major destinations in Rome. It was impressive to ride past world-famous and well-preserved sights such as the Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, Castell Sant' Angelo and many more. The city was very hot and traffic was absolutely frantic. I don't think I have ever heard as many horns sirens in one place at the same time...
After my initial introduction I took a subway from Termini to the Piramide station and from there a commuter train to Ostia, Rome's ancient seaport. Here I boarded a local bus that would take me to the waterfront of Ostia which features a long sandy beach with a few beach huts. On the way back downtown I talked with a very nice couple from Sweden who were also enjoying a few sight-seeing packed days in Rome.
In the evening I walked around the Colosseum and explored the extremely well-preserved Arch of Constantine. After a brief dinner on the Via Cavour I strolled past the magnificent Papal Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and settled in for an ice cream on the nearby Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II before I headed back to the hotel to rest up for another action packed day of sightseeing.
