Kikosi cha Simba SC kilikuwa; Peter Manyika, Emery Nimubona/Hassan Kessy dk46, Samih Haji Nuhu/Mohammed Hussein ‘Tshabalala’ dk46, Juuko Murudhid, Said Issa/Hassan Isihaka dk46, Abdul Banda/Justuce Majabvi dk46, Simon Sserunkuma/Peter Mwalyanzi dk46/, Awadh Juma/Said Ndemla dk46, Kevin Ndayisenga/ Ibrahim Hajib dk67, Danny Lyanga/Mussa Mgosi dk68 na Issa Abdallah/Mwinyi Kazimoto dk46.
URA: Bwete Brian, Massa Simon, Sekito Sam, Samuel Senkoom, Kasozi Bob, Agaba Oscar, Kagimi Sadiq/ El Kanah Mkugwa dk67, Kyeyune Said, Oniamucha Villa, Kalanda Frank/Ronald Kigonyo dk72 na Lutimba Yayo/Jimmy Kulaba dk51/Deo Otieno dk72.

A Chinese national and restaurant owner known as the "Ivory Queen" has been arrested and charged with smuggling more than 700 tusks worth nearly $2.5 million in Tanzania.
Yang Feng Glan is being accused of acting as the essential link between East African poachers and Chinese buyers, according to the NGO Elephant Action League. Yang is reportedly a Beijing native who also happens to serve as secretary-general of the Tanzania China-Africa Business Council. She has confessed to the crimes and faces 20 to 30 years in prison.
According to The Citizen, Tanzania's largest English-language newspaper, Yang has been operating in Tanzania for 14 years. In that time she has financed elephant poachers and supplied traders in illegal ivory.
Rampant poaching has devastated Tanzania's native elephant population. The country has lost around 85,000 elephants, 60% of its elephants, to poaching between 2009 and 2014.
"Tanzania has had the most serious elephant poaching of any country in recent years with few prosecutions, so this is an important case," said WildAid CEO Peter Knights. "But as well as arresting the smugglers, corrupt officials who enable this trade need to be prosecuted."
Tanzania is considered to be the largest source of poached ivory in the world and China is the largest importer of smuggled tusks. This year, China has taken some efforts to reduce its ivory consumption by holding high-profile public ivory destruction.

Tanzania will go to the polls this week. The current President Jakaya Kikwete will step down after elections. South Africa's ANC has a long history with Tanzania, as many struggle heroes lived in that country during the dark days of Apartheid. It is difficult to talk about South Africa's struggle for liberation without talking about the fight for better formal education for the citizens. The education issue became a priority for the African National Congress, ANC after the 1976 Soweto uprising. ANC decided to set up education facilities outside South Africa to benefit exiles. In Tanzania the facilities were set up in Morogoro district in 1978. Sarah Kimani returned there to see how life was for the exiles and what became of the facilities after the exiles left Tanzania in 1992.

In 1963 Jomo Kenyatta led his country to independence aligning the economy with capitalism and the west. This was a departure from a trend to the socialist policies adopted by other newly independent African countries including Kenyas neighbour, Tanzania then under the stewardship of Julius Nyerere. A famous meeting between the two leaders highlights the different economic paths the two countries would take and ultimately who would come out tops.

Tanzania's gross domestic product has expanded by 32 percent after the state rebased its calculation to incorporate new sectors in the economy, including big discoveries of natural gas. According to the national bureau of statistics, its gdp stood at 69.8 trillion tanzanian shillings after the rebasing, up from a previous estimate of 53 trillion shillings. Farming remains tanzania's economic mainstay, while tourism, mining, communications and financial services are the other key sectors. Tanzania has also made big natural gas discoveries, with revenues expected to give a boost to the economy by 2020. The base year for calculations was changed to 2007 from 2001 and the nbs said gdp growth for 2013 was subsequently revised up to 7.3 percent from 7 percent previously. The rebasing comes just months after kenya’s rebasing efforts, which saw the country’s ecopnomy revised up by 25 percent to 53.4 billion dollars in 2013.

For incredible home cooked Tanzanian food in Dar Es Salaam, you should go to Grace Shop. Details here http://migrationology.com/2013/12/grace-home-style-tanzanian-food-one-of-the-best-lunches-you-can-eat-in-dar-es-salaam/
While I was in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, I was able to eat at quite a few local restaurants, some of them good, while others weren't the best. On one of my last days in the city, I got tipped by a friend to eat at a small local restaurants known simply as Grace Shop. It wasn't even much of a restaurant, but more of a small kiosk located in the spread out neighborhood of Oysterbay, just barely onto the Peninsula. I normally would never come to this area looking for good Tanzanian food as it's sort of an expat area, but I sure was surprised this time.
So Grace Shop is a located in a Pepsi painted little kiosk, and at first when I walked up, I didn't even known if I had come to the right place - one reason was because I saw a bunch of wedding gowns in the store window. But I peeked my head inside, and sure enough, there were tables set up and the food was about to be ready to be served. Who would have known that a wedding gown rental store could serve such good Tanzanian food? The restaurant is pretty small, housing only a few tables on the inside and a couple of tables outside. For the lighting, I chose to sit outside and enjoy the cool outdoor breeze, with what would soon by one of the best Tanzanian food meals I've ever enjoyed in my life.
When we arrived, the food wasn't quite ready for lunch, I my anticipation grew as we waited. It didn't take more than a few minutes before I noticed a wheelbarrow pulling up to the back of the restaurant. This was something new for me... being served out of a wheelbarrow - and Tanzanian street food! The food is actually cooked in the house behind Grace Shop, and then it's transported to the little restaurants front to be sold. When the food was ready, it was all unloaded into the back little kitchen room and ready to be served. Everyday for lunch, there are numerous Tanzanian food dishes all laid out and you can pick and choose whatever looks the best. I wanted to eat everything, but of course I had to make up my mind and pick a few things.
I began this Tanzanian food meal with a big scoop of beef pilau, which was rice cooked with huge chunks of beef and oil. Then I chose a deep fried salted fish. From there, the servers piled on all the side dishes like vegetables and beans and sauces, and all sorts of other delicious items. My plate of Tanzanian food was colorful and smelled so amazing I could hardly wait. It was definitely one of the best, if not the best Tanzanian food, home-cooked, meal I've ever had in my life. Everything was spiced and salted to perfection. The rice was oily and had a hint of cinnamon, the fish was salty and crispy, the beans were hearty, and the fresh veggies were fresh and full of flavor. Even the chili was banging hot! Sometimes Tanzanian food can be good, and other times not so good, but this was one of the best Tanzanian food lunches I've ever eaten!
How to get to Grace Shop, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania:
Grace Shop is located in the Oyster Bay part of Dar Es Salaam, just behind the Kenya High Commission. From Ali Hassan Mwinyi, turn onto Kaunda Drive, make your first left (it's Bongoyo Road), and Grace Shop is about 200 meters up the road on your right hand side.
Open hours -- Eat there for lunch, food should be ready around noon
Price -- 5,000 TZS ($3) for my monster plate of food that included both beef and fish, other plates can cost just 3,000 TZS ($1.82)

Grandma's Massaman Curry in Ayutthaya | Food Travel Vlog 4

Massaman curry is one of the most well known Thai dishes… but it’s not often my favorite dish… but then Grandma made it for me: http://migrationology.com/2014/09/grandmas-massaman-curry-ayutthaya/
So like I mentioned, Thai massaman curry is usually not my favorite dish in Thailand - mainly because it’s usually prepared quite sweet, and it’s also usually quite oily. However, it is one of the most famous dishes in Thailand, and a food that many people love - in fact - a few years back, CNN.com named it as one of the best Thai dishes, or foods, in the entire world!
But anyways, Ying and I were in Ayutthaya filming for the Thai food TV documentary, and one day we went over to Grandma’s house (it was the house of a Grandma of a friend of someone on our TV filming crew) - so it was really cool to be able to film, and eat, at a local home. Ayutthaya is not just a city, but it’s a province in Thailand, so we weren’t right in Ayutthaya town, but were about 30 km outside of the town in a smaller town known as Ban Phaen (บ้านแพน). As soon as we arrived, and I saw the view of the home overlooking the calm water, I was excited.
Our first step was to go to Ban Phaen Market (ตลาดบ้านแพน), which was just about a 10 minute walk from the house. I went along with Grandma’s daughter to the market to find all the ingredients we needed to make an authentic recipes for Thai massaman curry. Grandma, formerly sold massaman curry and other curries at the market in Ayutthaya, but she hadn’t sold in many years. She knew many original and authentic Ayutthaya recipes, included one for massaman chicken.
After buying all the ingredients and spices we needed for the chicken massaman curry recipe, we then headed back home and started cooking. The first step was to prepare the curry paste (เครื่องแกงมัสมั่น) - which included chopping and roasted a bunch of different spices and herbs like shallots, garlic, galangal, dry chili, kaffir lime peel, and fingerroot (among many more things which you’ll see in the video). Then we used those roasted ingredients to pound a beautiful massaman curry paste. Next, we boiled chicken with peanuts and simmered it on low heat. In the meantime, we took the massaman curry paste and cooked it along with thick coconut cream until it turned into a beautiful, almost gravy like, sauce. We then added the coconut paste mixture to the chicken, threw in a bunch more spices like Siam cardamom and bay leaves, and simmered the massaman curry (แกงมัสมั่นไก่).
Here’s something I didn’t know (and the reason there was already a full post of massaman chicken curry cooked and ready when we arrived in the morning): massaman is better the next day, and it should be cooked one day, left to set, and eaten the next day. So in order to film and eat all in one day, Grandma had cooked a pot the previous day, so we could eat it the same day.
On this day, not only did I have an amazing time and a local Thai cultural experience, but I definitely gained a new appreciation for Thai massaman curry. It’s a complex dish, one that’s often shortcutted these days, but if made correctly can be very delicious. Massaman curry (แกงมัสมั่นไก่) is a blend of cultures, a fusion of Thai ingredients and Persian / Middle Eastern spices, all blended together in a harmony.
Grandma made an authentic, no-shortcuts, recipe for massaman curry, an original Ayutthaya dish. It was so much better than just about every other massaman dish I had ever had previously - you just can hardly find the home-cooked quality at any restaurant as you would find at Grandma’s house.
It was a wonderful day, a great cultural experience, and marvelous food!

In Tanzania, the public health system is overloaded. Four out of every 10 people turn to the private sector for their care, where quality can be inconsistent. PSI’s Familia network addresses this problem, reaching low-income clients with high quality maternal and child health services.
Using a model called social franchising, PSI applies commercial franchising strategies to privately-owned clinics. Social franchising benefits clients, who get improved services, health workers, who gain valuable training in business and medical skills, and PSI, which gets increased health impact – our measure of success.
Today, PSI works with business owners all over the world, reaching 10 million people every year. Learn more at http://psi.org.

In this video, American teachers visited a Tanzania UNICEF-supported healthcare center and primary school to learn about the work UNICEF does for children around the world.
At the healthcare center, mothers are provided with prenatal appointments, recordings of a baby’s weight and other services to prevent malnutrition in children. At the primary school, the focus is to train teachers and teach the kids about the importance of sanitation. The schools have a water pump to provide them with clean, safe drinking water and the students are growing their own food to get more nutrients to fight-off disease.

Health workers experience various challenges that affect their willingness to show up to work. The objective of this PSA will be to involve citizens in the supervision and encouragement of health workers to do their job better and attend patients well.
Twaweza means "we can make it happen" in Kiswahili. It is a ten-‐year, citizen-‐ centered initiative that seeks to foster conditions through which millions of people can get information and make change happen in their own communities directly or by holding their governments to account. The message of this PSA has a common 'Ni sisi' philosophy in resolving health issues.

Tanzania's tourism attractions including spectacular scenery, historical and archaeological sites, Parks teem with wildlife, unpolluted beaches, and the rich cultures of the 158 ethnic groups. The southern and northern highlands boast a number of impressive mountain ranges, typically rising 500m to 1,000m above their surroundings. Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru in the northeast are ancient volcanoes rising to 5,895m and 4,500m respectively. The coastline is over 804km long with the nearby Islands of Unguja (also known as Zanzibar), Pemba and Mafia. The Islands offer an array of natural, cultural, historical and archeological attractions. Other natural resources are Lake Victoria, the world's second largest lake and the source of the Nile.
Tanzania is a land of contrasts and majesty, Africa at its most wild and unexplored. There is the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the sun-kissed beaches of Zanzibar, the vast herds of game grazing on the Serengeti plains and the slow volcanic eruption of Ol Donyo Lengai. With so much natural wealth, it’s no wonder that Tanzania has something for everyone.
In this section you will find the top ten destinations in Tanzania, listed below in order of popularity. Reading it evokes the best Africa has to offer — wonder, adventure, challenge, relaxation — but this list is really only the beginning. While Tanzania’s most famous and world-renowned destinations are the highlights that bring visitors to our country from around the globe, there’s much more to see and do than most people think. In ‘places to go’ we explore all the main destinations and venture far off the beaten track to give you an informed overview of all the places of interest in our country, from little-known but spectacular Swahili ruins on the southern coast to the hunter gatherer tribes of the northern highlands. You will find information on safari circuits and national parks and reserves to help you plan your safari itinerary, while the towns and cities section provides interesting and useful information whatever your interest. Not convinced that Tanzania really has it all? One look at the islands will certainly fix that. Finally if you would like to see some of the world’s greatest natural features then take a look at mountains and volcanoes or lakes. Whatever your desire – Tanzania has it all.

Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa, bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the north; Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south.
Do in Tanzania
============
1 - Safari While you are in Tanzania you may organize your safari to Serengeti and other National parks at an affordable price. If there's one trip that will change your perspective on life, it's an African safari. Contact some of the tour operators for Safari Details.
2 - Cultural Tours Touring Tanzania for culture is interestingly great as it encompasses more than 150+ ethnic groups. There is plenty of traditional food, cultural practices (such as hunting with bushmen, beeskeeping, traditional medicine) that one enjoys within the boundaries. You will also get to visit a number of locations that normally people would be completely unaware of. If you happen to be a person who loves to explore the world and meet new people in order to gain knowledge about different customs, a cultural tour is definitely the best type of vacation for you.The services are not expensive and can turn out to be cheaper than expected provided you get the right information on where to stay, best tour companies and just knowledge of what you want. This way, it will save you time and costs as well.
3 - There are loads of National Parks for those wanting to watch Tanzania's wildlife. You can gain entry for around $100 US and benefit from a tour (and perhaps a night's accommodation). The better parks, though packed with tourists, are found in the north of the country. Ruaha National Park is the best in the south (locals actually say this is the best park, especially if you want to see wild animals as opposed to semi-tame ones in the northern parks). Don't just be sucked into the tourist circuit in the north; the south offers great parks and towns (base yourself out of Iringa), and you will feel less of a tourist and more of a guest if you travel this way.
4 - Scuba diving in and around Pemba and Zanzibar is another good experience.
5 - You can also visit numerous historical Slave Trade sites, which could make for an interesting, if a little depressing, excursion.
6 - Beaches: Did you know that Tanzania has some of the best, most unspoiled beaches in the world? They are stunning, with their white sand, palm trees, and cool Indian Ocean water!
7 - Kayak the beautiful coastal waters with a tour operator.
8 - Tanzania has two of the best Stone Age sites in the world: Isimila Gorge (near Iringa) and the earliest known examples of human art among the rock paintings, near Kolo, north of Dodoma -- some of which are reckoned to be around 30,000 years old.
9 - Kilimanjaro is one of Tanzania's main attractions. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. Many visitors come to Tanzania to summit this great mountain. The main peak is estimated to be 5895m high making it a real challenge for mountaineers.

About Starkey Hearing Foundation
Starkey Hearing Foundation uses hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world. Disabling hearing loss affects more than 360 million people, including 32 million children, worldwide, yet many do not have access to the hearing devices that can help them. As a member of Clinton Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to provide more than one million hearing aids to people in need this decade and currently gives more than 175,000 hearing aids annually. In addition to giving the gift of hearing through worldwide hearing missions, Starkey Hearing Foundation promotes hearing health awareness and education through the Listen Carefully campaign and provides hearing instruments to low-income Americans through the Hear Now program. Started as the philanthropic effort of Starkey Hearing Technologies, Starkey Hearing Foundation was founded by William F. Austin in 1984. For more information visit www.starkeyhearingfoundation.org.
