Traditionally, CSS stylesheets have a terrible opinion about style encapsulation: the only thing stopping one element’s style from stomping over another’s is a “well chosen class name”. The Shadow DOM fixes this by building a little castle and a moat around each element, so that styles can’t get in and out of the web component castle. But what happens if you _do_ want to style this custom element? How do you cross the moat? Custom properties, that’s how.

A polymer is a large molecule (macromolecule) composed of repeating structural units. These sub-units are typically connected by covalent chemical bonds. Although the term polymer is sometimes taken to refer to plastics, it actually encompasses a large class of compounds comprising both natural and synthetic materials with a wide variety of properties.
Because of the extraordinary range of properties of polymeric materials, they play an essential and ubiquitous role in everyday life. This role ranges from familiar synthetic plastics and elastomers to natural biopolymers such as nucleic acids and proteins that are essential for life.
Natural polymeric materials such as shellac, amber, and natural rubber have been used for centuries. A variety of other natural polymers exist, such as cellulose, which is the main constituent of wood and paper. The list of synthetic polymers includes synthetic rubber, Bakelite, neoprene, nylon, PVC, polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylonitrile, PVB, silicone, and many more.

The Shadow DOM fixes this by building a little castle and a moat around each element, so that styles can’t get in and out of the web component castle. But what happens if you _do_ want to style this custom element? How do you cross the moat? Custom properties, that’s how.

Lip Balm Recipe______________
If you don’t have all of the ingredients to make the lip balm, here are some things you can substitute with:
Vaseline
Melt an old lip balm
Melt a dollar store lip balm
Recipe
Beeswax - 1 Tablespoon
Shea Butter - 2 Tablespoons
Lanolin - 1 Tablespoon
Peppermint Oil - 5 Drops
Please adjust the recipe for the size of your container or jar. This recipe filled 4 jars, with some leftovers.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Bowl #1 - Add 4 cups of water and 1 teaspoon of food grade Sodium Alginate.
2) Mix it well with a hand blender for 2-3 minutes and let it sit for at least an hour or even a few hours...Wait for all the bubbles to be gone and it's a clear liquid.
3) Bowl #2 - Add 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon of Calcium Chloride and mix until it's dissolved. (should take a few minutes.)
4) If you want to add flavor and/or color you can add flavoring or food coloring to the calcium chloride mixture (bowl#2)
5) Bowl #3 - Fill up a bowl with water
6) Fill ice cubes or water ball mold with Calcium Chloride mix and add food coloring or flavoring if you want.
7) Freeze it
8) Take ice cube or ice ball and place it into Sodium Alginate bowl (Bowl #1) and GENTLY use a spoon to cover the entire ball with the liquid. Try not to move the ice ball too much and make sure you leave it in for a few minutes so that it has time to form a covering around the ice ball.
9) After a few minutes, gently take it out and place it in the water bowl.
10) Wait for ice ball to dissolve and you can then take the water ball out and eat/drink it.

Hey Guys! Today we're makig this cute miniature sodastream in time for the weekend! ^^ The flavor I chose is 'pink grapefruit', but you can of course make any flavor you want (not edible haha, just the colors).
I made the machine, a bottle of soda and a bottle of the concentrate or flavoring.
I used polymer clay, a tea light holder, wire, a pipette and resin. + Paint, food coloring and glue :)
This is just a fairly quick and simple version.

According to The Conversation, the major sources of mercury in Australian waters come from industries involved in water supply and sewage, metal manufacturing, oil and gas extraction, and mining. Mercury pollution seeps into waterways and gets turned into methylmercury by organisms in the water.
The toxic substance accumulates in the tissues of seafood and fish, with those at the top of the food chain containing potentially toxic levels, thus exposing people to it mainly through ingestion. As a neurotoxin, methylmercury attacks the brain and nervous system, causing problems for the kidneys and developing fetuses.
To combat this, researchers at Flinders University created a sulphur-limonene polymer using two waste products- sulfur and citrus peel — to act as a mercury trap. The dark red material works by attracting mercury, which binds firmly to the polymer, turning it yellow-green in the process.
With production costs relatively low, the non-toxic material may be used to coat pipes and as filters, or even in large-scale cleanup operations for heavily contaminated areas, reports Business Insider Australia.
