Choir (architecture)

A choir, also sometimes spelled quire, is the area of a church or cathedral that provides seating for the clergy and church choir. It is in the western part of the chancel between the nave and the sanctuary which houses the altar and Church tabernacle. In larger medieval churches it contained choir-stalls, seating aligned with the side of the church, so at right-angles to the seating for the congregation in the nave (of which there would have been little if any in the Middle Ages). Smaller medieval churches may not have a choir in the architectural sense at all, and they are often lacking in churches built by all denominations after the Protestant Reformation, though the Gothic Revival revived them as a distinct feature.

As an architectural term "choir" remains distinct from the actual location of any singing choir – these may located in various places, and often sing from a choir-loft, often over the door at the liturgical western end. In modern churches, the choir may be located centrally behind the altar, or the pulpit.

Chorus effect

In music, a chorus effect (sometimes chorusing or chorused effect) occurs when individual sounds with approximately the same timbre, and very similar pitch converge and are perceived as one. While similar sounds coming from multiple sources can occur naturally, as in the case of a choir or string orchestra, it can also be simulated using an electronic effects unit or signal processing device.

Methods

When the effect is produced successfully, none of the constituent sounds are perceived as being out of tune. It is characteristic of sounds with a rich, shimmering quality that would be absent if the sound came from a single source. The effect is more apparent when listening to sounds that sustain for longer periods of time.

The chorus effect is especially easy to hear when listening to a choir or string ensemble. A choir has multiple people singing each part (alto, tenor, etc.). A string ensemble has multiple violinists and possibly multiples of other stringed instruments.

In spite of the name, most electronic chorus effects do not accurately emulate this acoustic ensemble effect. Instead, they create a constantly moving electronic shimmer.

Infernal is the sixth full-length studio album by the Swedish death metal band Edge of Sanity, released by Black Mark Production on February 5, 1997.

Dan Swanö's other band Nightingale did a cover version of the song "Losing Myself" on their album Nightfall Overture.

Artistic differences between Swanö and Axelsson were one of the main things that pushed the band apart, making Swanö leave after this album (although he did return but by then the band already had split which meant Swanö went by the band name's for the release of Crimson II).

Infernal (video game)

Infernal (formerly Diabolique: License to Sin) is a third person action game for Microsoft Windows, produced by Polish developer Metropolis Software and published by Playlogic International in 2007.

Infernal is a modern-style third person shooter, with major first-person shooter influences. Players control protagonist, Ryan Lennox, a former angel turned dark by unfortunate circumstances who has access to a number of unique demonic powers, including pyrokinesis, teleportation, and the ability to feed on the souls of fallen enemies.

The game has a metacritic score of 61/100 with mainly mediocre reviews saying it lacked polish and calling it last generation compared to current third person shooters of the time such as Gears of War and Resident Evil 4. On the other hand, some reviews said it had good graphics and called it "mindless fun."

A console port,Infernal: Hell's Vengeance was released on June 30, 2009 for Xbox 360.
