Cloverleaf Interchange Redditch
The 1st Cloverleaves started to appear as far back as the 1920s in America and Germany. Redditch's very own Cloverleaf Interchange or A448 (Bromsgrove Highway), A441 (Alvechurch Highway) and A4189 (Warwick Highway). is now only one of two that exist in the UK. Built as part of the Redditch New Town road system. The Road system was designed to allow the rapid flow of large volumes of traffic around various districts and into the town centre, whilst keeping fast moving vehicles separated from residential streets.

A huge #ThankYou to everybody that has supported Age UK BRWF’s and Age UK WMH’s #MinuteYourMoves campaign to help get us #MovingMore during lockdown!

Worcestershire coronavirus hotspots as cases begin to fall
New coronavirus hotspots have emerged across Worcestershire during lockdown, according to the latest data from Public Health England. Redditch is now the area with the highest infection rate, with 295 cases in the week before November 12, a rate of 346.0 cases per 100,000 people in the area. This has now dropped to 254 cases and an infection rate of 297.9 in the seven days before November 19. Public Health England's (PHE) map of England reveals where exactly in Redditch and other districts that coronavirus cases are rising and which neighbourhoods are being hit worst. For Redditch, areas such as Crabbs Cross, Webheath, Riverside and Church Hill North all recorded an infection rate higher than 350 and are among the highest in the county. Elsewhere it was actually the Wolverley,...

The Roman Road known as Icknield Street is prominent, running north to south through the eastern side of the town.
The Borough of Redditch is divided into several districts. To the east of the town are "New Town Districts" built in the 1970s and 1980s. To the west of the Borough are older "Former Village Districts" that dominate the south and west.
The Cross-City Line provides a regular train service via Birmingham New Street to Lichfield Trent Valley. Redditch railway station, the southern terminus of the line, was first opened as the terminus of the Redditch Railway on 19 September 1859, alongside what is now Clive Road. This first station stayed until 4 May 1868 when the last section from Alcester to Redditch of the Redditch and Evesham Railway was closed, at which point a second station was built alongside the junction of Bromsgrove Road and Plymouth Road.
Redditch is occasionally noted for its confusing road system dominated by a system of dual carriageways built when it became a New Town, including the only cloverleaf interchange in England at the junction of the A441 and the Bromsgrove-bound A448.
Bordesley Abbey remains of a former Cistercian abbey, later used as a Royal Swannery. Forge Mill Needle Museum exhibition of traditional needle making. Morton Stanley Park A public park in the village of Callow Hill with views of the Malvern Hills and wider Worcestershire. Redditch has 900 acres (3.6 km2) of public open space in Arrow Valley Country Park. Redditch was the home of the Royal Enfield motorcycle.

What are the poorest places in the UK? The last thing that’ll come to mind when the UK is mentioned is poverty. It’s not among the countries you’ll associate poverty with. This should be clearly noted as we begin. Yet, not every part of Great Britain has the affluence of London, Edinburgh, or Glasgow. Some places in the UK are poor. We’re here to show you the 10 poorest places in the UK.
These places are the same neighborhood with the biggest shortages of basic social infrastructure and facilities such as playgrounds, parks, pubs, shops, and sports centers. You’ll find some of them among the areas left behind in England, Wales, and Scotland. Authorities have to do something about these 10 poorest places in the UK.
10. Newport, Wales
We’re starting in Wales. One of the poorest places in the UK is a city and county borough in Gwent in Wales. We are referring to Newport which is situated on the River Usk close to the river’s confluence with the Severn Estuary. It is 19 kilometers northeast of Cardiff. Newport’s population of 145,700 at the 2011 census notwithstanding, all is not going on fine with the city. It can’t get past its nagging poverty.
Imagine this: of Newport’s 95 neighborhoods in Newport, 23 currently rank among the most deprived in Wales. Do the math, and you will find out that this is about 24 percent of the authority. That’s the biggest percentage of deprivation in the country.
9. Greenock, Inverclyde, Scotland
Wales doesn’t have a monopoly on poor places. Scotland has, at least, one of the 10 poorest places in the UK. You’ll find the ninth on our list in Inverclyde. This is Greenock, a town and administrative center in the Inverclyde council area. The town with a population of 44,248 is located in the west-central Lowlands of Scotland.
As proof of how gripping the poverty state of this town is, its population reduced by almost 3,000 within 10 years. In a report that shows how poor some parts of the nations are, Greenock tops the list. In the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation for 2020, Greenock has the highest number of deprived areas in Scotland.
8. Halton, England
England too has some of the poorest places in the UK and the first of these on this list is the eighth poorest place in the UK, Halton. The district and unitary authority that registers its name on this list has a borough status in Cheshire.
When you consider its ranking as one of the worst areas in England and Wales by a global children's charity that also ranks Halton as one of the worst areas in England and Wales to be a girl, you will understand why Halton slipped into the rank of the 20 most deprived areas in England. Other indices like life expectancy, children poverty which is 25 percent, health inequality, and unemployment rates are not in a positive light for this district.
7. Merthyr Tydfil, Wales
We’re back in Wales to find Merthyr Tydfil, the main town in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, as the seventh of the 10 poorest places in the UK. The town administered by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is about 37 kilometers north of Cardiff. Often called Merthyr, the town believed to be named after Tydfil, daughter of King Brychan of Brycheiniog, has a population of 43,820.
This town seems to be hitting above its weight as the go-to place for those looking for gloomy job news. As of March 2018, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent. Even though it's an iron producer, poor transportation service is the bane of this town that makes it so poor.
6. South Elmsall, England
South Elmsall is a small town and a civil parish lying to the east of Hemsworth with a population of 6,519. When it comes to safety, this town is among the most dangerous of small towns, villages, and cities in West Yorkshire. It’s faring badly in income deprivation, employment deprivation, education, skills and training deprivation, health deprivation, and disability. The 2021 overall crime rate in South Elmsall was 111 crimes per 1,000 people Living in this small town, you will be on a downward spiral of ill health and at the risk of premature death or the impairment of quality of life caused by poor physical or mental health.

Throughout January and February we sought the support of our communities to record their minutes of movement. From seated toe taps and heal raises, to walking and cycling, every minute counted! Each week, the minutes were collated to show how our communities are 'Moving More' and which district is 'Moving Most'! In this video, our Activities Coordinator, Fi Petts, announces which of our Districts has moved most!
To find out more about our campaign and how we plan to keep #MARCHingON please contact Fi@ageukwmh.org or Jo.Hughes@ageukbrwf.org.uk

Elsewhere it was actually the Wolverley, Cookley and Blakedown areas in Wyre Forest which recorded the highest infection rate at 461.2 per 100,000 people in the week before November 18. Bromsgrove also has a number of badly hit neighbourhoods such as Hagley, Rubery East and Alvechurch, Hopwood & Holt End. The most localised coronavirus case data PHE provides is in its MSOA (Middle layer Super Output Areas) maps, which can be searched by postcodes here. Here are the highest Worcestershire coronavirus hotspots as of November 18. Buy a present for a homeless child here Make sure you set delivery to the #BrumWish Campaign, and we will ensure the presents get to the kids. If you aren't on Amazon, you can donate money and we will buy, wrap and deliver a gift on your behalf.
