Philippine Scout Rangers | World's Deadliest Special Elite Forces | Military Documentary Channel.
PHILIPPINE SCOUT RANGERS: The Scout Rangers, known officially as the First Scout Ranger Regiment, is a Philippine Army Special Operations Command unit, and specializes in anti-guerrilla warfare. The regiment has been boasted as one of the world's best anti-guerrilla fighters.[1]
The Scout Ranger Regiment was born on November 25, 1950 under the command of former AFP Vice Chief of Staff and Defense Secretary Rafael M. Ileto.[2] Named after both the Alamo Scouts and the US Army Rangers, the unit was created due to a growing need to counter the Hukbalahap Guerrillas and its rebellion with a force trained in small unit actions.[2] Scout Rangers participated in the December 1989 coup attempt against the Corazon Aquino - Aquino Administration.[3] Led by Captain Danilo Lim, Major Abraham Purugganan and Lieutenant Colonel Rafael Galvez, some 2500 rangers took over Makati in the most destructive coup attempt against the Aquino Administration,[3][4] which left hundreds of civilians and soldiers dead, and hundreds more injured.
Scout Rangers played a major role in capturing the MILF rebel camp during the all out war against the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
With the rise of guerrilla and terrorist activities in the Philippines, the Scout Rangers have teamed up with the Light Reaction Battalion to take on more responsibility in internal security duties.[5]
Their headquarters, where the scout ranger school is also located is in Camp Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan. The land was donated by 1902 - 1906 Governor of Bulacan Province - Pablo Tecson (Pablo Ocampo Tecson) of San Miguel, Bulacan.

I certainly understand that a lotta people don't want to plan their vacations too much, wanna be a bit more spontaneous, wanna rock n roll. I understand it, I do it myself, but you want to plan a few things.
You want the right gear. Waterproof backpack. If a laptop, then a small one. Swimsuit. Micro-towel. Focus on nice, lightweight stuff. Get wrinkle free and you won't have to worry about ironing.
There's great adventure here, but you wanna be able to pack light and fast. Packing light will make everything easier. It's one of the best Philippines travel advice tips to remember.
One of the bags that you hang around your waist for your phone, wallet, cash, etc.
If you can buy it in your country, you can buy it here. You can buy Macbooks, bottled water, batteries, etc.
Everything you can get here, so pack light. And everything's cheap here. Laundry is cheap so you won't have to do any laundry.
2 or 3 changes of clothes. MAYBE a change of pants but not really necessary. This is the second video in the Philippines travel guide series.

B Adventure, Travel Series: Philippines 2015. Season 2, Episode 1. Guide, tips, and advice. Hanging out in Makati Manila, popular CBD and tourist area. The Fort Strip Taguig City, Manila, is the popular nightlife district with plenty of nightclubs, lounges, and restaurants. More detailed info and links below.
The Clipper Hotel, Makati Manila.

Cruising around Makati Manila.
Buddha-Bar, Makati Manila.
Taguig City, Manila. Also called The Fort, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Bonifacio High Street. There was a food festival market, dog show, and live band that night.
Travel Tips:
Everyone spoke English and generally very friendly.
Its important to have photo ID for flights, hotels, and if police ask.
Its common for taxi drivers in Manila and every other city to try rip you off, or overcharge foreigners. Ask them nicely to put the meter on, or negotiate the price from the start. Ask locals what it costs to your location. If you are not comfortable, don't use that taxi. Don't be afraid to move on and find another taxi!
Shopping mall culture, locals love the mall for the aircon and to get out of the heat.
Locals often inflate prices for foreigners and tourists. Haggle and negotiate nicely. Be tough, but be respectful and polite. Shop around, you can often get a better price. Ask around about local fair pricing for things you want to do.
"Tip" can also mean bribe, so don't be afraid to ask what you're paying for upfront. Locals often do things to try help you, but then expect a tip.
The average basic worker earns PHP200 - 300 a day. So tipping PHP 20 - 50 is fine.

A brief documentary about Manila, the capital city of the Philippines. Every year, more than 5.5 million tourists take their vacations in the Philippines, and often Manila is their very first stop.
Nearly 16 million people live in the Metro Manila area, which is made up of many smaller cities, including Makati, Pasay, Pasig, Paranaque, Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and more.
Manila is where big business takes place, where major investments are made, and where residential and commercial real estate is never-ending. Many tourists enjoy the malls, the restaurants, the museums, the nightlife, and even the beautiful Manila Bay. Probably, the biggest tourist attraction is the SM Mall of Asia - the 3rd largest mall in the world.

B Adventures, Travel Series: Philippines 2015. Season 2, Episode 19. Guide, tips, and advice. More detailed info and links below. I was sick with the flu and cough. So just sharing travel tips while I recover. I ended up extremely sick for a month. Other Australian travellers I knew in the Negros region were also extremely sick so we suspect something was going around. Dumaguete City, province of Negros Oriental. It is the capital, principal seaport, and largest city of the province. Nicknamed "The City of Gentle People". Shopping and eating out can be cheaper compared to larger cities if you know the local culture and language.
B Adventures Facebook Page.

Travel Tips:
Everyone spoke English and generally very friendly.
It is important to have photo ID for flights, hotels, and if police ask.
It is common for taxi drivers in Manila and every other city to try rip you off, or overcharge foreigners. This includes motorbikes, or pedicabs/trike taxi. Ask them nicely to put the meter on, or negotiate the price from the start. Ask locals and your hotel what it costs for transport to your destination. If you are not comfortable, don't use that taxi. Don't be afraid to move on and find another taxi!
Shopping mall culture, locals love the mall for the aircon and to get out of the heat.
Generally you will notice ash and dust particles in the air as burning trash and charcoal BBQ cooking is quite common. Also if there is a lot of vehicle traffic in that city from jeepney buses, motorbikes, trucks and cars.
Locals often inflate prices for foreigners and tourists. Haggle and negotiate nicely. Be firm and confident, but always be respectful and polite.

How to behave in social situations in Manila.
Here are a few customs and etiquette to be aware of during your visit to the Phillipines. Filipinos value honor. The concept of hiya or shame requires one to behave in a manner that will not shame the person or the family. Handshake is common when meeting someone. If elders are present, acknowledge them first. Address people formally indicating their profession or using their last names. In discussions Filipinos tend to be non-confrontational. People will not directly say no.
In making appointments, Filipinos tend to be more forgiving. If you arrive 15 to 20 minutes late, unless you are attending a business function. If you ever receive a gift, open it afterwards, not in front of the person who gave it to you. When it comes to tipping, 10 percent of the bill is typical in most situations, unless it is already included. In that case you can give a small change. Most of all, Filipinos try their best to be hospitable. When visiting their homes you may be invited to a meal even if it was not planned. I am Roselyn Cantos showing you metro Manila.

With the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit set to start this week, US officials said American President Barack Obama will definitely confront his Chinese counterpart President Xi Jinping over Beijing’s occupation and reclamation activities in the hotly-disputed West Philippine Sea.
According to US National Security Advisor Susan Rice, China’s activities in the region will be a “central issue” which Obama will raise in the forum.
US Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes also revealed the US President will visit an American frigate docked at a Philippine naval facility on the sidelines of his trip.
The visit will most likely take place in Subic.
“President Barack Obama is going to a coastal facility in the Philippines to showcase our maritime cooperation with the Philippines,” Rappler quoted him as saying.
“The visit showcases US maritime security assistance to the Philippines and the region,” he continued. “And clearly in our alliance with the Philippines and our focus in the region, we have been committed to maritime security, to principles like freedom of navigation, and to the peaceful resolution of disputes. And again, this event will be an opportunity for the President to showcase some of that maritime security assistance.”
Paris Terror Attacks Also Up for Discussion
Aside from the dispute, an analyst pointed out world leaders would also likely bring up the November 13 Paris terror attacks.
“One cannot separate the economic and the non-economic in today’s interconnected world,” said Milken Institute’s Curtis Chin. “That’s as true in the battle against ISIS as in the search for a peaceful resolution to the many territorial disputes with China that haunt development in the [West Philippine] Sea.”

During opening weekend I visited the Asia Society Museum in NYC to see for myself the wonderful gold artifacts from the Philippines that depict our rich heritage and precolonial history prior to the arrival of the Spaniards. In old Spanish texts from Francisco Alcina, the most well known chronicler of the Bisayans to Antonio Pigafetta, the scholar who joined Ferdinand Magellan when they first landed in our shores, the mention of gold was very much prevalent throughout the islands. Our ancestors, from the slaves to the nobility, wore gold, most being passed down from generation to generation as bahandi, or heirlooms. From gold necklaces, bracelets, rings, armlets, to even sashes, belts, and the hilts of their daggers were made of gold. Their religious objects from bowls to figures of deities were also intricately designed and made of gold. They would often bury these gold objects so the dead person can wear them in the afterlife. It was also a form of acceptance in the afterlife as among the Bisayans according to Francisco Alcina in his 1668 records, the god of happiness and of Saad, the resting place of the souls, once upon receiving the soul from the primordial sea goddess Magwayen on a bangka, he would ask them a question. Surrounded by the ancestors he would ask if they were that certain person who died. However if the soul did not have with them any gold or bahandi, they would not recognize them. From records we know that the Spaniards often ransacked known burial sites for the purpose of taking these gold buried with the dead.
To see the gold artifacts yourselves I invite anyone who can come to NYC and the Asia Society Museum to come and take a step back in time. The exhibit runs from September 11 2015 - January 3, 2016 and is located at:

Jayson Castro was at his absolute best down the stretch against Star on Saturday, November 14, to lead his Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters past the Hotshots, 91-86, in Lucena City, Quezon.
Castro, who finished with a game-high 33 points, scored 7 points in the game’s final two minutes, with each point coming at a critical time to help his team avoid a late collapse against the pesky Hotshots.
The game went down the wire with Talk ’N Text ahead just 81-78 with 2:49 left. After a few empty possessions between both squads, a layup by James Yap off a spin move cut the lead to one.
Castro then responded with a floater with 1:43 to go to make the count 83-80. After Ian Sangalang hit a hook shot to trim the deficit to one again, Castro came back down with a 3-pointer for a 4-point lead.
The “Best Point Guard in Asia” then stole the ball and attacked Mark Barroca on offense, leading to a floater for an 88-82 lead.
The Tropang Texters again looked like they had the game in hand when top overall pick Moala Tautuaa threw down a dunk to make the count 90-82 with 30.8 seconds to go, but Star responded with 4 quick points thanks to a Yap basket and Marc Pingris free throws.
After Troy Rosario split his charities to make it a 91-86 game, Yap missed a long 3-ball to seal the loss with a few seconds remaining.
Talk ’N Text’s win improved their record to 3-1, putting them in a 5-way tie with Alaska, San Miguel, GlobalPort, and Rain or Shine for the top seed in the league standings.
Star fell to 2-3.
The Tropang Texters will be back in action on Friday, November 20, against the NLEX Road Warriors. Star, on the other hand, will face Meralco on Saturday, November 21

Philippine Marine Force Recon Documentary - Swift Silent Deadly - BBC Documentary Channel
The Philippine Marine Corps Force Recon Battalion (Marine Corps Recon) is the Philippine Marine Corps' elite ground forces unit for unconventional warfare and special operations. It specialises in sea, air and land operations, like its counterpart in the Naval Special Warfare Group of the Philippine Navy, ranging from reconnaissance, close combat, demolition, intelligence and underwater operations in support to the overall naval operations.
As the spearhead of the Philippine Armed Forces, Marines of the Marine Corps are "the first to fight" and elements of the Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance Battalion lead the way.
What makes it different from the Naval Special Warfare Group is that it utilizes strategies and tactics mastered by the Philippine Army's 1st Scout Ranger Regiment and Special Forces units.
They also make use of mechanised operations in support of other AFP combat operations as specially inclined with the conduct of special and classified military actions.
All Force Recon Marines are usually airborne and Scout Ranger qualified and most importantly; must finish the Force Reconnaissance Course to qualify.
Like most of the AFP special operations units, the best members of Force Recon Battalion are handpicked to undergo VIP security training and assigned to the Presidential Security Group.

Like many of its Asian neighbors, the Philippines has been site of rapid economic growth over the past two decades. Following a period of martial law and strict control over rural provinces, peasants and farmers began moving to the nation's capital, Manila, in the 1980s looking for better lives. However, many of these people remained on the margins of both society and the city itself. As the population boomed, slums began cropping up.
VICE Japan traveled to Manila in order to investigate conditions in one such slum inside Navotas Cemetery, where 6,000 men, women, and children currently live amid the graves and excavated human bones.

VICE Japan traveled to Manila in order to investigate conditions in one such slum inside Navotas Cemetery, where 6,000 men, women, and children currently live amid the graves and excavated human bones.

Season 3 Episode 5
Philippine Airlines Flight 434 (PAL434, PR434) was the route designator of a flight from Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Pasay City in the Philippines, to New Tokyo International Airport (now Narita International Airport), Narita, in Japan, with one stop at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Cebu, in the Philippines.
On December 11, 1994 the Boeing 747-283B with tail number EI-BWF was flying on the second leg of the route, from Cebu to Tokyo, when a bomb planted by terrorist Ramzi Yousef exploded, killing one passenger and damaging vital control systems. It was a part of the unsuccessful Bojinka terrorist attacks. 57-year-old Captain Eduardo "Ed" Reyes,[1] an experienced veteran pilot, was able to land the aircraft, saving the plane and all the remaining passengers and crew. The flight crew also consisted of First Officer Jaime Herrera and Systems Engineer Dexter Comendador.[2]
Authorities later discovered that a passenger on the aircraft's preceding leg was Ramzi Yousef.[3][4] He was later convicted of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.[4] Yousef boarded the flight under the fake Italian name "Armaldo Forlani",[2] an incorrect spelling of the name of the Italian legislator[5] Arnaldo Forlani.
At the time of the bombing, Philippine Airlines had 12 other Boeing 747-200 aircraft in operation
