The other day President Obama said we can’t discriminate which refugees we accept based on religion. Rush Limbaugh was very offended. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Rush Limbaugh reacted to President Obama‘s big speech at the G20 summit today by saying he was tougher in it against Republican rivals than he’s ever been against ISIS.
In his speech, Obama addressed the Paris attacks, combating ISIS, and admitting Syrian refugees into the United States. And on that last point, the presidentripped Republicans trying to keep refugees out.
Limbaugh said he was “tougher on Republicans than he ever is on ISIS,” and found it disturbing that the president would dismiss the idea of American leadership because it’s a slogan used by the right.
He argued that for years Obama has “questioned the whole concept of America winning as a phony premise” and said there’s an “arrogant condescension” when he talks about it.”*

Appearing on Broadway for one night only: Barack Obama, in a solo comedy act roasting the Republican Party.
The president left a crowd of more than 1,300 in stiches on Monday night at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, home to the hit musical "Hamilton" about Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. The cast staged a special performance for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser, with Obama as the encore
Deviating from his typical fundraiser spiel, Obama said the 2016 Republican presidential candidates seem to "occupy a different reality" in which the country has taken a perilous turn since he took office nearly seven years ago.
"According to them, everything was really good in 2008, when we were going through the worst economic crisis in our lifetimes," Obama said. "This, apparently, was the golden age that I messed up."
And they're so glum," Obama added, barely containing his feelings about the GOP cast of characters seeking his job. "They're really so frustrated."
Tweaking Republicans who question climate change, Obama likened it to having 99 out of 100 doctors tell someone they have diabetes and having that person brush it off as a conspiracy.
All 99 of those doctors got together — with Obama — to try to prevent me from having bacon and doughnuts," Obama said to laughter in the ornate Times Square theater. "It'd be funny — except this is about climate change. This was an analogy."
He recalled incredulously how a GOP senator stood on the floor of the Senate with a snowball to question global warming, and whipped out a phrase perhaps borrowed from one of his daughters. "It's cray!" he said.
As the 2016 race has picked up steam, Obama has largely stayed on the sidelines, only occasionally offering his own commentary. Instead, he's been trying to lay the groundwork for Democrats to make a persuasive economic case in the general election.
He seemed to let loose at Monday's performance, which drew roughly 1,300 donors who paid between $500 and $10,000 a pop.
Before the curtain fell, Obama took a last jab at the Republican field over foreign policy, mocking claims by Donald Trump and others that relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin would improve if they were elected.
"And then it turns out they can't handle a bunch of CNBC moderators," Obama quipped, poking fun at candidates' complaints about last week's GOP presidential debate. "If you can't handle those guys, I don't think the Chinese and the Russians are going to be too worried about you."

The GOP assault on CNBC (along with the idea of critical analysis of candidates’ policy positions) continues. Both the RNC and the candidates are trying to figure out how to better control future debates. John Iadarola (Think Tank), Jimmy Dore (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), Cara Santa Maria (Talk Nerdy), and Elliot Hill (The Lip TV), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"The Republican National Committee on Friday pulled out of a planned Feb. 26 debate with NBC News amidst a revolt by candidates after Wednesday’s CNBC debate.
"While debates are meant to include tough questions and contrast candidates’ visions and policies for the future of America, CNBC’s moderators engaged in a series of 'gotcha' questions, petty and mean-spirited in tone, and designed to embarrass our candidates," RNC Chairman Reince Priebus wrote in a letter to NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack.
Since CNBC is an NBC Universal property, "We are suspending the partnership with NBC News” for its Feb. 26 debate.
Priebus’s email panned CNBC for "inaccurate or downright offensive" questions, specifically singling out a question to Donald Trump, who was asked whether he was running a "comic book" version of a presidential campaign.”*

The Republican Party platform is staunchly against progressive policies aimed at protecting women’s freedoms. They’ve voted against abortion rights, equal pay, and birth control access (to name a few.) All of these protections under the law are intended to give women equal rights…so does that mean republicans just kinda hate women? And where do so-called “family values” come into play?

Ben Carson West Point controversy divides Republicans: Reuters/Ipsos poll

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson was viewed less favorably by a significant portion of Republicans after his claim to have been offered a scholarship to West Point was disputed, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
But in one positive sign for the neurosurgeon turned top-tier candidate, a majority of those polled said the controversy did not affect their view of him.
After hearing the report questioning Carson's recollections about the scholarship, 39 percent of Republicans said they had a less favorable view of him, with 26 percent saying it was “somewhat” less favorable and 13 percent saying it was “much” less favorable.
The majority of Republicans polled, 51 percent, said the issue made no difference and an additional 10 percent said it gave them a more favorable view.
Donald Trump, the front-runner in the Republican race, has taken an aggressive stance in attacking Carson, who now rivals him for the lead in several polls. Trump has pointed to the West Point story as problematic for Carson and said he is not sure Carson has been honest about his past.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll also found that it caused concern among those who identify as independent. Among independents, 19 percent had a somewhat less favorable view of Carson and 17 percent had a much less favorable view.
The online poll had a 6 percent credibility interval for Republicans and 10 percentage points for independents. It was conducted between Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.
Carson, who has topped a few recent national polls of Republican presidential candidates and is holding onto second place in the Reuters/Ipsos poll, has been the subject of intense scrutiny in recent weeks. Parts of his biography were called into question by publications that sought to verify stories in his 1990 autobiography “Gifted Hands.”
In the book, Carson detailed having received a “full scholarship” to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. His campaign later said while he never applied or was accepted, he had been told by leadership in the ROTC program that he would have been accepted had he applied. West Point provides education and housing to all students for free.
Carson has pushed back against efforts by the media to discredit his biography. He has accused the press of lying about his past.
But the West Point story is not the only one that has surfaced. CNN published a report questioning Carson’s account of violent episodes in his youth. A Wall Street Journal report questioned two additional stories, including one in which he helped hide white students during riots at his high school and another in which he was deemed the most “honest” student in a Yale course after taking a fake exam.
Questions also were raised on Thursday about Carson's relationship with a Pittsburgh dentist who was convicted of felony healthcare fraud. Carson, calling the dentist his "very best friend" asked the judge to be lenient in sentencing him.

Trump vs Carson takes center stage at Orlando Republican summit

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson shrugged off an angry rant from rival Donald Trump on Friday after the bombastic billionaire tested the patience of the party's base by saying Carson had pathological tendencies similar to a child molester.
The fallout from Trump's nasty broadside reverberated in Orlando where Trump and Carson, the two front-runners, were among a host of candidates speaking at the Florida Republican Party's Sunshine Summit.
“I expect that kind of thing," Carson said in Greenville, S.C., when asked about Trump's comments. "That's what's been going on in our country for years... and I don't expect it to change any time soon but I don't have to get into it.”
The day-long speechfest also put on display the increasing tensions between two up-and-coming challengers for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who clashed on Thursday over immigration.
Cruz, of Texas, had blasted Rubio, of Florida, as favoring amnesty for illegal immigrants by sponsoring a 2013 legislative effort in the Senate.
Speaking to reporters in Orlando, Rubio said Cruz had supported a legal pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants and promoted an amendment to that effect, and now claims he did not.
"He bragged about how his amendment would bring people out of the shadows," Rubio said. "He's changed his position. He has a right to change his position."Rubio and Cruz were among the candidates appearing in Orlando, along with three other candidates: Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
Trump, frustrated that Carson has stolen the lead from him in polls of Iowa Republicans, launched a diatribe against the retired neurosurgeon at a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Thursday night. Iowa will hold the first nominating contest on Feb. 1 on the road to the November 2016 election.
Trump said Carson has a "pathological" temper, alluding to compulsive behavior similar to that of a child molester.
"If you're pathological, there's no cure for that," Trump said. "If you're a child molester, there's no cure. They can't stop you."
At one point, Trump flipped his belt buckle over to try to cast doubt on a frequently cited anecdote from Carson, that he tried to stab someone as a child but the person's belt buckle prevented injury. Carson says the incident helped turn him to the Christian faith.
"Give me a break," Trump said. "How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe that crap?"
While Trump has made a number of outlandish statements with no penalty from Republican voters, turning on Carson in such a bitter way could mark a turning point for the New York mogul whose take-charge attitude has kept him at the top of the polls for months.
Trump kept up the attention on Carson's past with an Instagram video showing TV footage of Carson talking about the knife incident. Words on the screen say: "Violent criminal? Or pathological liar? We don't need either as president."
Carson refused to respond in kind, in keeping with his generally laid-back manner.
"It's up to the people of Iowa and they will decide if they want to listen to the usual politics...or if they want to do something different," he said.
Rubio, asked about Trump's comments about Iowa, said Iowa voters are "some of the nicest" people in the country. Another Republican candidate, Carly Fiorina, sounded off on Facebook about Trump's comments early on Friday.
"Anyone can turn a multi-million dollar inheritance into more money, but all the money in the world won't make you as smart as Ben Carson," she said.

Carly Fiorina
For the second debate in a row, Fiorina was once again the breakout star of the night, taking on Republican front-runner Donald Trump with finesse and capturing the crowd with polished, zinging answers and an impassioned charge against abortion.
Fiorina earned perhaps the biggest applause of the night as she skewered Planned Parenthood.
Fiorina dodged an early opportunity to hit Trump but didn't make that mistake again when she was asked to address the businessman's recent comments about her appearance to Rolling Stone, in which he suggested her face would make her unelectable.
Fiorina takes on Trump
New York journalist and CNN contributor Errol Louis said after the debate that Fiorina was "the clearest winner."
Marco Rubio
Rubio proved Wednesday night why so many GOP elites have long considered him a top contender for the Republican nomination: He can weave his strong handle of policy with a compelling personal narrative.
Rubio took on Trump differently than Fiorina or Bush, dispatching the front-runner without attacking him directly, instead steering the debate toward his strengths.
When Trump pointed out Rubio's voting absences in the Senate, Rubio refused to retort with an attack of his own.
Jeb Bush
"You know what? As it relates to my brother, there's one thing I know for sure. He kept us safe," Bush told Trump to one of his strongest applause moments of the night. "You remember the fire fighter with his arms around it? He sent a clear signal that the United States would be strong and fight Islamic terrorism, and he did keep us safe."
And he also successfully tackled Trump over the billionaire's suggestion that Bush's Mexican-American wife was the reason for his support for comprehensive immigration reform.
"To subject my wife into the middle of a raucous political conversation was completely inappropriate, and I hope you apologize for that, Donald," Bush said. "Why don't you apologize to her right now." Trump declined.
Chris Christie
"While I'm as entertained as anyone by this personal back-and-forth about the history of Donald and Carly's career, for the 55-year-old construction worker out in that audience tonight who doesn't have a job, who can't fund his child's education, I've got to tell you the truth. They could care less about your careers, they care about theirs," Christie said. "Let's start talking about that on this stage and stop playing -- and stop playing the games."
Earlier in the night, Christie suggested the problem with the debate was "we're fighting with each other up here" over how to approach defunding Planned Parenthood even though "we agree."

Donald Trump
Trump stumbled in responding to Fiorina's deft answer to his comments about her face, awkwardly calling her "beautiful" after suggesting her looks would keep Americans from voting for her.
Former Bush aide and CNN political commentator Ana Navarro spoke highly of the move.
And when Bush attacked him for a "lack of judgment" and "lack of understanding about how the world works," Trump resorted to an oft-used tactic of tying Bush to his brother's presidency suggesting that "your brother's administration gave us Barack Obama because it was such a disaster ... that Abraham Lincoln couldn't have been elected."
Bush's quick answer -- that his brother kept the country safe -- knocked Trump off balance as the crowd roared in approval.
And as he faced questions over foreign policy and his flubbed response to conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who was one of the debate's questioners, Trump smartly pivoted to Hewitt, insulating himself from further attacks from his rivals.
Conservative analyst Mercedes Schlapp said Trump was silent for more than 30 minutes of discussion n serious policy issues.

Republican Presidential Debate 2015 Full GOP Republican Debate FOX Business Network Full Republican Presidential Debate 2015 GOP Debate FOX Business Network All told, the candidates spent no time attacking a reasonably well-moderated debate, and although there were a few intra-candidate attacks, none seemed particularly notable. Marco Rubio was polished. Rand Paul played a bigger role than he has in previous debates. Donald Trump was relatively reserved. Ben Carson certainly helped himself with his performance. Carly Fiorina acquitted herself okay, too. I can't see this debate stopping Jeb Bush's slide or doing anything significant for John Kasich. On foreign policy, the interventionism of the field as a whole is intense. On domestic policy, all have aired tax plans that have no chance of becoming law. The winner: Americans, because this debate lasted about two rather than three hours. —Conor Friedersdorf
11:20 pm: Takeaway from Milwaukee: Brace for a new round of Rubio-rising stories. He came into this debate with momentum and he performed to expectations. His trendline is up and will keep going up, though questions remain about his ability to turn elite opinion into votes. Jeb was practically a nonfactor. He is just not good at this, and besides a couple of prescripted answers, he did nothing to stand out. The Jeb-death-watch narrative will also continue after this. Trump was sort of subdued, but he's never that good in debates. Same with Carson—his voters don't care that he's borderline incoherent on any substantive questions. Kasich, as usually, seems to have infuriated base conservatives while appealing to moderates and liberal Republicans. Cruz was also strong. Like the last debate, he and Rubio are going to get the buzz out of this.
In a lot of ways this debate ratifies the status quo going in. No game-changers in that sense. Rand Paul showed up for the first time, but it's not clear he has much of a constituency in this party. —Molly Ball
11:18 pm: At the start of the debate, I wondered whether Jeb Bush’s decision to hire a media trainer would show on the debate stage and it did, a little bit. Bush’s delivery seems to have improved, but maybe not enough to get him out of his low polling digits. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio again delivered a strong performance. What the two didn’t do is go head-to-head like they had in the last Republican debate. Maybe because doing so just wouldn’t work. It certainly didn’t for Bush then and it’s unlikely it would have for Rubio tonight. And it also may answer the question my colleague Russell Berman noted earlier: Will Bush leave his Super PAC to do the dirty work? Looks like that’s a strong possibility. —Priscilla Alvarez
11:16 pm: Trump: "I'm self-funding my campaign...the United States can be better than ever before." —Molly Ball
11:15 pm: Rubio: "The 21st century can be a new American century." —Molly Ball
11:15 pm: Rubio, remembering why he's here tonight, unlike some of his competitors: "I ask you for your vote." —Marina Koren
11:14 pm: Cruz: "If we get back to the free-market principles and constitutional liberties that built this country, we can turn this nation around." —Molly Ball
11:13 pm: In contrast, Spain needs a divider-in-chief to amicably part with the Catalonians and Basques. —Conor Friedersdorf

Slavoj Zizek examines the right & left in american Politics.
The left-right political spectrum is a system of classifying political positions, ideologies and parties. Left-wing politics and right-wing politics are often presented as opposed, although a particular individual or group may take a left-wing stance on one matter and a right-wing stance on another. In France, where the terms originated, the Left has been called "the party of movement" and the Right "the party of order." The intermediate stance is called centrism and a person with such a position is a moderate.
There is general agreement that the Left includes: progressives, communists, social-liberals, greens, social-democrats, socialists, democratic-socialists, left-libertarians, secularists, feminists, autonomists, anti-imperialists, anti-capitalists, and anarchists.

Earlier this year, VICE News filmed with a republican youth movement in Ireland called Na Fianna Éireann (“Warriors of Ireland” in English), a small group of around 30 boys considered to be hardline dissidents. They support a violent IRA splinter group known as the Continuity IRA, and believe that a renewed armed struggle is needed to free Ireland from British occupation in the North.
Considered “junior terrorists” by some, the Na Fianna sees itself simply as Ireland’s true republican boy scouts, training with the main aim of being ready for a new resistance — a fight that they believe is inevitable.
VICE News followed Na Fianna members as they carried out "bush training" in the mountains, and attended their Easter Rising march through Dublin, to get an idea of what the young face of dissident republicanism looks like, in an age where support for political violence in Ireland has all but ended.

On this Wednesday, November 5th edition of the Alex Jones Show, Alex runs down the results of the November 4th midterm election as Republicans take over the Senate and expand their majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans have vowed to dismantle aspects of the Obama agenda, primarily his disastrous health care fiasco, and confront his imperial presidency. Former Rep. Ron Paul warns Republican gains will result in expanded war in Syria and Iraq. The esteemed former congressman also points out the two party system is in fact a monopoly locking out outsiders and dominating the political landscape in America. Others predict the election foretells the extinction of the two party system and the final chapter of the hegemony of a dinosaur political class.

Our favorite economic and trends analyst in the world, Gerald Celente from the Trends Journal returns to SGT Report to discuss the current state of affairs in the United States and beyond. SGT Report contributor Mark S. Mann also joins in on the conversation.
As for our elected "representatives", the Republicans and Democrats, Gerald says, "They're murderers and thieves. They murder millions of people in the name of bringing 'freedom and democracy' to a country near you, and steal our money in the name of too big to fail bailouts, loan guarantees, special tax breaks and other dirty deals - and the people KNOW IT."
As we dive deeper into the interview, Mark asks Gerald about Benjamin Netanyahu's recent speech in front of the US Congress and the $6 BILLION in "aid" the US government gives to Israel annually, Gerald explains that Israel is a nuclear power and an apartheid state - and sounding a lot like Dr. Ron Paul, Celente explains, "I'm against giving money to Israel as I am against giving it to any other country. This country is rotting in front of us. The infrastructure stinks. The country's going downhill. I don't want my money going to Israel, to Italy, to Ireland, I don't want it going any where. And when you talk about Israel, the people try to attack you with this cheap BS line of 'anti-Semitism,'. Let's get this straight: Israel's a country, it's not a religion."
Buckle up as we spend the next half-hour with the number one trend's forecaster in the world.
