Paul Vario (July 9, 1914 – May 3, 1988) was a caporegime, a made man in the American Mafia. A fictional character based on Vario named Paul Cicero was featured in the film Goodfellas.
Paul Vario was born in New York City, where he later became a member of the Lucchese Crime Family. In 1925, at age eleven, Vario was sentenced to seven months in juvenile detention for truancy.
Nicknamed "Paulie," Vario stood six foot three and weighed 250 pounds. He was deceptively strong despite his girth, and would intimidate underlings and enemies just by his sheer size. During his adult years, Vario was arrested for loan-sharking, burglary, tax evasion, bribery, bookmaking, contempt of court and assault.
Vario allegedly had a very violent temper. One night Vario took his wife, Phyllis, out to dinner. While they were sitting at the table, the maitre d' accidentally poured wine on Phyllis' dress, then tried to dry it with a dirty rag. An enraged Vario hit the maitre d' twice and chased him to the kitchen. The maitre d' and several waiters with knives and heavy pans blocked the door. Later that evening, Vario sent two carloads of men armed with baseball bats and pipes to assault the waiters after the restaurant closed.
Marcus Tullius Cicero (/ˈsɪsᵻroʊ/; Classical Latin: [ˈmaːr.kʊs ˈtʊl.li.ʊs ˈkɪ.kɛ.roː]; Greek: Κικέρων, Kikerōn; 3 January 106 BC – 7 December 43 BC) was a Roman philosopher, politician, lawyer, orator, political theorist, consul, and constitutionalist. He came from a wealthy municipal family of the Roman equestrian order, and is widely considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists.
His influence on the Latin language was so immense that the subsequent history of prose in not only Latin but European languages up to the 19th century was said to be either a reaction against or a return to his style. According to Michael Grant, "the influence of Cicero upon the history of European literature and ideas greatly exceeds that of any other prose writer in any language". Cicero introduced the Romans to the chief schools of Greek philosophy and created a Latin philosophical vocabulary (with neologisms such as evidentia, humanitas, qualitas, quantitas, and essentia) distinguishing himself as a linguist, translator, and philosopher.
Cicero is a monthly German magazine focusing on politics and culture. The magazine which has a liberal-conservative political stance is based in Berlin.

The first editor-in-chief of the magazine was Wolfram Weimer, who also served as the editor of the daily newspaper Die Welt from 2000 to 2002. Alexander Marguier was the editor-in-chief of Cicero until 2010.Michael Naumann worked for the magazine as an editor-in-chief between 2010 to 2012. The current editor-in-chief of the magazine is Christoph Schwennicke who was appointed to the post in May 2012. The magazine has eleven editorial staff. Among its columnists are Bela Anda, Philipp Blom and Amelie Fried.
In 2011, the magazine initiated the pencil heads project which covered the carved busts of leading politicians like Barack Obama into the lead of Cicero-branded pencils. These pencils were sent to their likenesses in special boxes to promote the magazine's interviews with major leaders.
A cicero /ˈsɪsəroʊ/ is a unit of measure used in typography in Italy, France and other continental European countries, first used by Pannartz and Sweynheim in 1468 for the edition of Cicero's Epistles, Ad Familiares. The font size thus acquired the name cicero.
It is 1⁄6 of the historical French inch, and is divided into 12 points, known in English as French points or Didot points. The unit of the cicero is similar to an English pica, although the French inch was slightly larger than the English inch. There are about 1.063 picas to a cicero; a pica is 4.23333333 mm and a cicero is 4.5 mm.
Cicero (and the points derived from cicero) was used in the early days of typography in continental Europe. In modern times, all computers use pica (and the points derived from pica) as font size measurement – alongside millimeters in countries using the metric system – for line length and paper size measurement.

Goodfellas. 1990. Such a brilliant film. With some incredible actors. Directed by Martin Scorsese. Note: I do NOT own this material. These cuts are made out of respect and love and if the original owner wants them removed, please just ask. I only want to pay respect to the different TV shows that I was raised on and remember fondly. #Goodfellas #MafiaMovie #GangsterTelevision
To close out this year's festival, the cast of Martin Scorsese's mob classic GOODFELLAS celebrated the film's 25th anniversary with Jon Stewart. In this clip, actor Paul Sorvino discusses his character in the film Paul Cicero. Sorvino reveals how difficult it was for him to “find the spine of that character.” He tells the audience that “once you find that spine, it makes all the decisions for you.” He explains the intricacies of the role, describing how the externals of the role were quite easy but the real challenge was the “inner life” and the “bifurcation of the character" he strived to portray. Sorvino shares how he was so close to quitting the role, telling the audience “I’m a poet, I’m an opera singer, I’m an author, Im a sculpture, none of it is gangster” and “when i was trying to ...
Watch Ray Liotta's reaction when he's slapped by Paul Sorvino. I don't think he was expecting it or thought it would be so hard.

I hope I'm dreaming, 'cause this can't be awake
I hope I'm dead, just for my sake
Who knew all this would come, from a dirty gun
Son of a bitch who thought he was a cowboy
The mad hatter bashes your face again
Look into his eyes to see where evil lives
Bullet through window, and down the rabbit hole
This is one fucked up fairy tale
(Chorus:)
Hey you! Black and blue,
Don't end up like Alice
Hey you! Black and blue,
Watch out, you'll end up like Alice
You'll get what's coming, you and your children
The wicked witch has OD'ed on pills again
And the Dragon, lights up a cigarette
He's blowing smoke right into your face again
It's off with her head, her snakes are seething
The big bad wolf is rabid and teething
Bullet through window, and down the rabbit hole
This is one fucked up fairy tale
CHORUS
Little pig, little pig
Put her down
She's slapped around, choked and drowned
