David Cameron again made the case to bomb Syria as a way to solve the refugee crisis.
Jeremy Corbyn calls says before military is contemplated the UK should lead in setting up an urgent summit on Syria and the region involving the EU, the US and Russia.
Corbyn asked:
“At the Home Minister, Interior Minister summit next Monday, will Britain now sign up to be part of a European wide response to assist refugees from all parts of the world and ensure they have somewhere safe to go, and Britain will play a much greater role in it than it does at the present time; including sorting out the misery and desperation of people living in those camps in Calais and other places – they are human beings too, who need help and support.
If I may add to this, [will he] say anything about the welcome remarks by the Foreign Secretary during his visit to Tehran in which he indicated that because of the new relationship with Iran, there was a possibility of a wider political involvement in bringing about some degree of progress, possibly even a solution to desperate crisis facing Syria of a summit involving all the nations of that region, plus Britain, USA and Russia.”

In his one of his first speeches since being elected Labour leader on Saturday, he addressed a rally about rights for refugees held in Parliament Square, Westminster.

Jeremy Corbyn wins Labour leadership contest
Jeremy Corbyn has promised to lead a Labour "fight back" after being elected the party's new leader by a landslide.
The veteran left winger got almost 60% of more than 400,000 votes cast, trouncing his rivals Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.
He immediately faced an exodus of shadow cabinet members - but senior figures including Ed Miliband urged the party's MPs to get behind him.
Mr Corbyn was a 200-1 outsider when the three month contest began.
◾Follow the latest updates and reaction to Corbyn's victory
But he was swept to victory on a wave of enthusiasm for his anti-austerity message and promise to scrap Britain's nuclear weapons and renationalise the railways and major utilities.
He told BBC News he had been a "bit surprised" by the scale of his victory but his campaign had showed "politics can change and we have changed it".
He will now select his shadow cabinet - but without a string of existing members including Ms Cooper, Tristram Hunt and Rachel Reeves - who have all ruled themselves out.
He has also hinted that he wants to change the format of Prime Minister's Questions - he faces David Cameron across the despatch box for the first time on Wednesday - suggesting other Labour MPs might get a turn.
The Islington North MP won on the first round of voting in the leadership contest, taking 251,417 of the 422,664 votes cast - against 19% for Mr Burnham, 17% for Ms Cooper and 4.5% for Ms Kendall. Former minister and Gordon Brown ally Tom Watson was elected deputy leader.
Corbyn supporters chanted "Jez we did" as he took to the stage, putting on his glasses to deliver his acceptance speech.
The leftwinger, who has spent his entire 32 year career in the Commons on the backbenches, promised to fight for a more tolerant and inclusive Britain - and to tackle "grotesque levels of inequality in our society".
He said the leadership campaign "showed our party and our movement, passionate, democratic, diverse, united and absolutely determined in our quest for a decent and better society that is possible for all".
"They are fed up with the inequality, the injustice, the unnecessary poverty. All those issues have brought people in, in a spirit of hope and optimism."
He said his campaign had given the lie to claims that young Britons were apathetic about politics, showing instead that they were "a very political generation that were turned off by the way in which politics was being conducted - we have to, and must, change that".
Mr Corbyn added: "The fightback now of our party gathers speed and gathers pace."
His first act as leader was to attend a "Refugees Welcome Here" rally, joining tens of thousands of people marching through central London in support of the rights of refugees.
Addressing cheering crowds in Parliament Square, he delivered an impassioned plea to the government to recognise its legal obligations to refugees from Syria and elsewhere and to find "peaceful solutions to the world's problems".
"Open your your hearts. open your minds, open your attitude to suffering people, who are desperate and who are in need of somewhere safe to live," added the new Labour leader.
Singer Billy Bragg then led the crowd in a rendition of socialist anthem The Red Flag.
Mr Corbyn earlier told supporters his first day at the helm of his party in Parliament would be spent opposing government plans to "shackle" trade unions by imposing higher thresholds for strike ballots.

Hello dear Sir or Madam! Our news is packaged information about current events happening somewhere in the world - USA, Russia, China, Ukraine, Syria, Korea, UK, France, Germany etc. Our news moves through many different media. Common topics for our news reports include war, politics, and business, as well as athletic contests, quirky or unusual events, and the doings of celebrities.
Some information about news history - government proclamations, concerning royal ceremonies, laws, taxes, public health, and criminals, have been dubbed news since ancient times. Humans exhibit a nearly universal desire to learn and share news from elsewhere, which they satisfy by traveling and talking to each other. Technological and social developments, often driven by government communication and espionage networks, have increased the speed with which news can spread, as well as influenced its content. The genre of news as we know it today is closely associated with the newspaper, which originated in China as a court bulletin and spread, with paper and printing press, to Europe. The development of the electric telegraph in the mid-19th century revolutionized news by enabling nearly instantaneous transmissions, and by empowering a cartel of news agencies which consolidated the world news system. In the 20th century, the style of news and its impact on national populations expanded considerably with constant live broadcasting of radio and television, and finally, with the popularization of the internet.

7/7 led to wars abroad and loss of freedoms at home ... but do we know what really happened that day?
For the London media 7/7 is 'done and dusted', but for Tony Gosling, who helped cover the IRA London bombing campaign for the BBC, nothing could be further from the truth
Monday 6th July 2015
BRISTOL -
At lunchtime of 7th July 2005 the Guardian's Mark Honigsbaum was in the London Hilton Hotel opposite Edgware Road underground station uploading an audio report to the Guardian website. Mark had been talking to dazed and injured passengers as they emerged from the smoke and chaos below and listening back to the Guardian's first report of the day is unsettling.
Despite the official story of Mohammad Sidique Khan blowing himself up in the carriage, Honigsbaum says 'We believe there was an explosion this morning under the carriage of a train'. 'The tiles, the covers on the floor suddenly flew up, raised up,' he went on, derailing the Metropolitan Line carriages into the path of an oncominng train.
A former officer in Israel's SAS, the Sayeret Matkal, Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was due to be arriving at a Great Eastern Hotel conference just as Shehzad Tanweer's Liverpool Street tube bomb was going off below the hotel. Netanyahu was reported that morning by Amy Teibel on Associated Press' Jerusalem Desk to have 'changed plans due to a warning' from Scotland Yard, and thankfully Bibi had not left his hotel.
The Israeli embassy have since denied having any warning but Israeli government Press Officer Dan Sheham told journalists, including the Scottish Sunday Herald's foreign affairs editor David Pratt, embassy security was 'beefed up' around 7am that day. The four simultaneous bombs, three on tube trains and one on a bus were supposed to have been a surprise attack.
An Israeli firm also had access to London's tube tunnels, winning a CCTV contract when parts of the Underground were privatised a few months before the attacks. Verint Systems looked like a good bet but someone didn't do due diligence because the fraudster chairman Kobi Alexander, of Verint's parent company, Comverse Technologies, was on the run. He was evading the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) somewhere in Africa after disappearing with $13m of company money.
Leeds based bombers Mohammad Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer were both trustees of the Iqra bookshop in Bude Street, Beeston. The shop was managed day-to-day by former Royal Navy SBS special forces soldier Martin McDaid who ran a terror training camp in the Lake District in his spare time. Speaking on the BBC's Newsnight programmed Iqra youth worker Mark Hargreaves, said McDaid had a hidden agenda in grooming young Muslim men to be terrorists. ....
....Technology has made it too easy to control the news
The end result of the 1990s 'purge' is a more sophisticated version of the Josef Goebbels school of journalism where theatre becomes news. Ridiculous anomalies, such as BBC presenter Jane Standley's 9/11 announcement on BBC World of the collapse of World Trade Centre Building 7, twenty minutes before it actually happened and with WTC7 still clearly standing behind her, are labelled 'conspiracy theory' and simply ignored.
On July 8th the article Mark Honingsbaum had written on the afternoon of the bombings appeared in The Guardian newspaper where he describes the bombs as exploding in the carriages making no reference to floor tiles being 'raised up'. When I noticed this a few months afterwards I called him up to ask about the anomaly. After a pause he said, 'Well Tony, all I can say is not everything I submit as copy ends up in the next day's newspaper'.
Or as a certain former Indian propaganda broadcaster for the BBC, George Orwell wrote, in Nineteen Eighty-Four: ''He who controls the past, controls the present, he who controls the present, controls the future. On the big stories London's mainstream media has become little more than a mouthpiece for unelected and unaccountable intelligence services working with their Goliath-like co-conspirators, the overmighty banks and multinational corporations of the Transatlantic elite.
Only by fighting for a Hillsborough style, victim-led enquiry into the 7/7 London Bombings can England get and give true closure to the injured survivors and the families of the 52 murdered victims. To whom, one day, we may even be adding the four alleged bombers.

After finding itself painted into a corner, the Obama administration appears to be doing both when it comes to Syria. However, it is unclear whether either approach will generate the desired outcomes. In the meantime, Russia and its allies have taken matters into their own hands.

STORYLINE
The Philippine government said Syrian rebels failed to release 21 Filipino UN peacekeepers on Friday and stuck to their demands for the repositioning of Syrian government forces before any handover.
The 21 peacekeepers were seized on Wednesday near the Syrian village of Jamlah, just a kilometre (less than a mile) from the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, where the UN force has patrolled a cease-fire line between Israel and Syria for nearly four decades.
A spokesman for the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, Raul Hernandez, said the rebels had been expected to free the peacekeepers early on Friday.
"I don't know exactly know what happened, why the expected release did not happen, but the demand is still there," for the Syrian forces to pull back, he told reporters in Manila.
He said that the Philippine government was continuing to "work with all stakeholders for the expeditious release of our peacekeepers".
The rebels demand that Syrian troops pull back from the area around Jamlah, the village near the Golan Heights, which Israel captured from Syria in the 1967 Mideast war.
UN peacekeepers have been monitoring the armistice line since 1974.
Last week, rebels from the Martyrs of the Yarmouk Brigades, the group that is holding the peacekeepers, overran several Syrian army checkpoints in the area, according to the head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
However, there are still regime positions nearby because of the strategic importance of the area.
Rebels apparently fear that the regime will push to retake the territory if the peacekeepers are released, raising the possibility of a prolonged standoff.
The peacekeepers said in videos posted online that they were being treated well.
However, a rebel spokesman seemed to suggest the hostages were also serving as human shields.

Benedict Cumberbatch was today awarded a CBE from the Queen at Buckingham - and took the opportunity to highlight the plight of Syrian refugees.
The British actor, who was joined by his wife Sophie Hunter, used the platform to discuss the 'humanitarian problem' of migrants who are drowning off the coast of Lesbos.
It follows a series of nightly appeals by the 39-year-old while he was playing Hamlet at the Barbican in which he attacked the government over the crisis, at one point allegedly saying: 'F*** the politicians'.
Defending the rant today, he told reporters today: 'As a new father, to see the footage and the photos that came to us in the summer, I think every single one of us with a heart realised this wasn't someone's else's problem somewhere else - this was all our problem.

Travel video about destination London in England.
London is an exciting and pulsating metropolis of the new millennium, a melting pot of both people and culture and a fascinating city of diverse contrasts.
The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created.
The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began.
Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex.
The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

A trip to London might as well be a trip through history. This city has long been a hub for finance, education, and culture, and is full of modern construction mixed with ancient buildings.
Your London tour must include St. Paul’s Cathedral, one of its most well-known churches. You’ll also want to see the Tower of London, the Palace of Westminster, and Westminster Abbey for exquisite examples of the city’s famous architectural landmarks. Walk or jog through numerous green spaces, among them Hyde Park and Green Park, in the center of London.
Continue your London sightseeing in the West End, where you’ll find ancient buildings converted into modern shops, restaurants, bars, and shows. You’ll find one of the largest theatre districts in the world here, and can take in a different play almost every night of the week.
For a real treat, climb aboard the London Eye, a giant, rotating Ferris wheel, and see the old and new parts of the city all at once.

Travel video about destination New England.
The city of Plymouth is the beginning of a journey through the north eastern region of America, New England, which is where the first European settlers landed in the 17th century after stepping off the Mayflower. The ‘Plimouth Plantation’ is a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers’ original settlement, with ‘settlers’ in original costume going about their daily routine. In the centre of Boston, Copley Square features the Trinity Church which contrasts with the modern Hancock Tower that dominates the skyline and Park Street Church was where, in 1829, William Garrison gave his first anti-slavery speech. In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground some of America’s most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. Portsmouth is a quaint little harbour town at the mouth of the Piscataqua River in which the fishing harbour still plays an important role and pretty brick houses are gems of colonial architecture that remain untainted by tourism. Brunswick is a deceptively small town situated at the mouth of the Kennebec River. The main attraction of this 270 year old town is Bowdoin College in which theologian Calvin Stowe taught, husband of Harriet Beecher Stowe who wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The fishing town of Rockland is one of the largest exporters of lobster in the USA. There’s nowhere better to enjoy fresher, tastier and more varied seafood than on this part of the coast. Indeed, three quarters of American lobsters and other fish are prepared here. Established in 1919, Acadia National Park extends across most of Mount Desert Island and it was private individuals, particularly the billionaire John Rockefeller, who gifted this land to the State. It is now a collection of conservation areas that assures the preservation of this unique East Coast combination of lakes and mountains. New England is the traditional face of the United States…and the heart of America’s past.

Take a tour of Beachy Head in England -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats.
In the English East Sussex county, lies a tranquil chalk headland, the Beachy Head.
The chalk formation started accumulating more than 65 million years ago, around the period known as Late Cretaceous.
Lying in the vicinity of the Seven Sisters chalks cliffs, this serene place is simply entrancing with gorgeous views of the sea, the sky, and the land.
There are two lighthouses built on the surroundings of this headland, because it posed a significant threat to ships.
Due to the continuous erosion of the cliffs, the Belle Tout lighthouse had to be shifted 17 meters inland.
Steep cliffs, pristine blue waters, green lands rest unruffled in the laps of nature set to spellbind you.

http://www.intelligencesquared.com/events/jasmine-revolution/
On the 16th May, with uprisings in Libya and Syria still in full swing, a student audience convened at the Royal Society for a debate organised by the International Debate Education Association (IDEA), the Open Society Foundation (OSF), IQ2, the British Council along with the International Herald Tribune, the events media partner. The motion: 'The Jasmine Revolution will wither in North Africa: it won't meet the expectations of youth'.
The debate begins with Egyptian youth activist Nora Ayman arguing for the motion. She asserts that conditions are not yet ripe for democracy to take hold in North Africa. Norman Stone, Professor of History at Bilkent University, Ankara, warns of a repeat of the 1848 revolutions, whose end saw much worse governments in power than there had been to start. British writer and commentator Douglas Murray highlights that the most ruthless dictatorships have comfortably withstood rebel advances and that without considerable Western intervention, a democratic future is still, unfortunately, just a dream.
First to speak for the opposition is Egyptian Ahmed Naguib, who argues that advances made in North Africa are so substantial a return to tyranny is unthinkable. Roger Cohen, columnist for The New York Times and the International Herald Tribune and a reporter in Tahrir Square during the uprisings, acknowledges that the challenges for North Africa are great, but nevertheless sees the proposition's case as pessimistic not realistic. Fawaz Gerges, Professor of Middle Eastern Politics and International Relations at the London School of Economics, explains that a psychological change has taken place across North Africa, and that the voices of those millions that are now awakened, cannot be ignored by the military.
First vote: 46 For, 75 Against, 55 Don't know
Final vote: 40 For, 148 Against, 12 Don't know

When you’re on the road with Pilot you’ll find some incredible foods along the way. Ian Wright’s guide to the world’s good & bad food is invaluable advice on tasty morsels not to be missed, and offerings to decline if you can.
Breakfast in bed just isn’t an option when you’re on the road, and unless pack your cornflakes you’ll have to get used to different ways to start the day. In Thailand its just not done to eat lightly in the mornings, and at the floating Damnoen Saduak Market in Bangkok traditional breakfast of fried peanuts, picked vegetables in a hot sauce washed down with a cool beer is the order of the day. The best way to sample a local breakfast in Japan is to stay in a ryokan, a traditional Japanese hotel. A wonderful way to do it in South India is floating down the Kerala waterways with a dish full of dumplings. There’s places where breakfast can be a health hazard, however, such as Jamaica where the poisonous fruit Akka is cooked to release its toxins – consume with care!
Finding food that’s tasty and safe isn’t always easy when you are away from home, and while some might prefer to forage in the jungle, you can always find the freshest foods in a local market. In Brazil’s Belem market in the Amazon basin you can buy almost anything imaginable – monkeys heads, bottled sakes and three toed sloths are all par for the course. Chinese markets also reflect the unique tastes of the people and the meat is so fresh you can even pet it before you purchase!
On occasions there’s really no option but to return to your hunter-gatherer roots, and Neil’s quite chuffed with the piranha he hooks in Peru. But it’s nothing compared to fishermen’s reports from Alaska’s Salmon River and in Iran’s Caspian Sea you can fish for caviar, an expensive delicacy well beyond the average traveller’s budget. The staple food for the Nomads of Mongolia is a bizarre little rodent called Marmot. Shilpa Mehta risks life and limb in the Philippines to get a taste of a unique regional delicacy – swallow’s saliva which sticks their nests together is a snip in the shops at $100 a gram.
Wherever your travels take you, there’s always somewhere to grab lunch on the go. Justine Shapiro puts healthy eating on hold in South West USA she simply wolfs down a slice of deep fried bread, and hand made toffee prepared on the streets of Ecuador is just too good to be missed. Jonathan’s appetite is somewhat spoilt by jellied eels forced on him in London but it’s a consoling thought that even in the Solomon Islands you can find good old traditional fish & chips if you try hard enough.
Sometimes the lunch options aren’t so great. Foul, a dish made from Flava beans is eaten for breakfast, lunch and tea in Syria and in Uzbekistan there’s mutton, mutton or mutton on the menu. In some places you’ll only hit on the hottest grub with the help of a local guide. Agar introduces Andrew to Betelnut in North India, and lasse, a popular beverage made of yogurt, cream and milk. Down South in Madras Justine is impressed by the thali, surprisingly a safer option than experiencing the unknown in some western countries, as Shilpa discovers the delights of pig’s snout in Spain.
Food is sometimes eaten not for its taste but for ritual reasons In Argentina a shocking custom involving the slaughter of a cow each week is common practice, and the beast is hung up for a few days before its eaten. During the religious festival of Ramadan Muslims fast during daylight hours and feast when the sun goes down. Mouldy shark meat is no less common in Iceland than seal hands and sheep testicles, but that far north you just have to make do with whatever edible options are open to you.
In the Pacific Islands the drinking of Kava root is an age old custom, just as tea drinking is an important social ritual not just in China but all around the world. Most countries have an alcoholic beverage of choice – be it Vietnam’s watery draft beer, Hungarian wine or pisco in Chile, which is sure to do the business. In Muslim areas such as the Middle East where alcohol is prohibited there’s a commendable juice bar on most street corners.
Around the world the greatest diversity of food is found at the dinner table - much is delicious, most intriguing, but in his time Ian has tasted some terrible dishes. They don’t get much worse than his top 5 all time worst meals in the world – including kangaroo tail in Australia, sheep eye in Kirghistan and everybody’s favorite pet, the guinea pig of Ecuador.
