This provides a ground to reopen the road between Ithriyah and Salamiyah inside the Hama province. Nonetheless this success looks badly amid the ISIS counter actions in another sector. SouthFront: Analysis & Intelligence remembers 7 other IRGC members, mostly from Ansar Corps, have been martyred in Syria in the last days according to the confirmed reports. Russia has been continuing diplomatic efforts to set a wide coalition aimed to conduct anti-terror operations in Syria and Iraq instead of trying to overthrow Assad by supporting militant powers in the region. On October 23, Russia and Jordan made an agreement to set a coordination center in Amman. The center will be used to share information on the counter-terrorism operations. Russia, Iran, Iraq and Syria already have a Baghdad-based center used for the same goal. This activity is hardly facing a joint counter-strategy from the US-led powers and regional elites. On the one hand, Western media, think tanks and experts argue that Russia doesn’t fight ISIS. On the other hand, same think tanks and experts believe that without the direct Russian military involvement, the Islamic State had all chances to break the back of the Syrian forces by the end of 2015. In this case, ISIS had to launch attacks west of Palmyra against the T4 Airbase, Homs city and Qusayr while Al Nusra and other so-called "moderate rebels" were advancing in northern Latakia, Aleppo city, and northern Damascus. Then ISIS had to exercise a death blow to the dispersed government forces by attacking south of Homs. Thus, the establishment of a Russian airbase in Latakia in September 2015 smashed these plans by preventing both "moderate terrorists" and ISIS from advancing along Syria’s central corridor. Nonetheless, it seems that a part of Western elites aren’t happy by this result. They prefer to see Syria divided among ISIS militants, Al Nusra and other terrorist groups. Nonetheless, the Pentagon has offered a new strategy to regain the initiative in the Middle East. As SouthFront: Analysis & Intelligence forecasted, the strategy will include coordinated offensives involving Syrian and Iraqi Kurdish forces, the Iraqi army and Iranian-backed Shia militias supported by the US Air Force. Ash Carter, the US defense secretary, and senior officials are expected to outline the strategy to Congress next week. We remember, Iraqi forces retook the town of Baiji in the Salaheddin province on Tuesday. Baiji is located about 180 kilometers south of the major city of Mosul, which fell to the ISIS militants in June 2014. The town, which is home to Iraq’s largest oil refinery, has been the scene of fierce clashes between terrorists and pro-government forces over the past weeks. Ghalioun walking away STORYLINE: Less than a week away from the so-called "Friends of Syria" meeting, hundreds of Syrian opposition members on Tuesday signed a "statement of pledge" outlining their vision for the country's future. Until now the opposition has appeared riven by differences and has failed to present a united front against Syria President, Bashar Assad, adding to the chaos. The opposition leaders, who met in Istanbul, attempted to resolve their differences and reassure international backers who are frustrated by the lack of cohesion. "The new Syria will be a free republic based on a constitution that does not discriminate among citizens based on religion or race or gender, and respecting human rights," said Syrian National Council (SNC) member, George Sabra. "Immediately after being formed, the interim government will be committed to conduct free and transparent elections, to form a junior assembly and to prepare a draft constitution," he added. After the meeting, the Syrian National Council's President Burhan Ghalioun said the opposition to Assad's regime is finally beginning to act as one body. "We talked about the need for signing together, meaning all the members of the opposition...Fortunately, there was an agreement and today everyone was united in this conference." A conference is scheduled for Sunday in Istanbul at which Turkey, the United States and their European and Arab partners will discuss ways to further isolate and pressure Assad, as well as measures to support the Syrian opposition. Some reports indicate that the debate among dozens of countries will include whether the opposition SNC and affiliated groups should be declared as the sole, legitimate representative of the Syrian people. Syria accepted a cease-fire drawn up by UN envoy Kofi Annan on Tuesday, but the diplomatic breakthrough was swiftly overshadowed by intense clashes between government soldiers and rebels that sent bullets flying into Lebanon. Opposition members accuse Assad of agreeing to the plan to stall for time as his troops make a renewed push to kill off bastions of dissent. The UN said on Tuesday that the death toll in Syria's year-old uprising has grown to more than 9,000. Activists reported fresh violence on Saturday that killed more than two dozen people. The UN estimates more than 9 thousand people have been killed since the uprising to oust Assad began a year ago. The leader of Syria's foreign-backed opposition says Russia has not yet come up with a clear outline for its proposed peace talks between Damascus and the opposition. The leader of the so-called Syrian National Coalition was speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with Arab League officials in the Egyptian capital Cairo. Earlier, Russia proposed a plan to mediate talks between the government of President Bashar al-Assad and opposition officials in Moscow next month. Damascus has expressed readiness to take part in the meeting to find out a solution out of the crisis without foreign interference. Russia falls out with Turkey On top of all the events in Syria, cracks are appearing in the relationship between Russia and Turkey. On Tuesday 6th of October CNN posted the following news story: "Russian involvement in the 4½-year-old Syrian civil war seems to be escalating, with NATO's secretary general confirming Tuesday a second incursion by Russian planes into Turkish airspace and saying Russian ground troops were in Syria as well. "Russian combat aircraft have violated Turkish airspace," Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, according to NATO's website. "This is unacceptable." Stoltenberg elaborated at a news conference. "We also have seen two of them, two violations of Turkish airspace," he said. "Intelligence that we have received provides me with reason to say it doesn't look like an accident." The first violation of Turkey's airspace is reported to have happened Saturday. The second was Sunday, officials said. In addition, the Turkish air force said in a statement that an MiG-29 fighter jet of an unidentified nationality had interfered Monday with eight Turkish F-16s on the Turkey-Syria border. The Turkish air force reported the jet put its planes under a radar lock for four minutes and 30 seconds. Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952, and alliance rules say that an attack on any of the 28-member states should be treated as an attack on all." The King of the North Things are certainly heating up then. The amazing thing is that we see in Bible prophecy an outline of the conflict which will unfold before the Lord Jesus returns and Turkey is a key location. In Daniel 11 we read at the start of the chapter how that, after Alexander the great was to die that the Greek empire would split into four. The prophecy picks up on two of these four divisions, one to the North of Israel (called “the King of the North”) and one to the South (called the “King of the South”). It explains, in extraordinary detail, how these two areas and their occupying powers would war against each other down through time. History teaches us that the territory of “The King of the North” consisted of the area of Turkey, Iran, Syria and Pakistan. The Southern territory belonging to the “King of the South” was largely the area of Egypt. In verse 36 though, another character is introduced, in addition to the “King of the North" and the “King of the South". He is simply known as "the king". As you follow the prophecy through, you will find that this describes the rulership of the two territories when one occupying power was in control of them both. This is the time when the Roman Empire controlled the north and the south and so there was no "king of the north" and "king of the south" - there was just "the king". The capital of the Roman Empire at this point was Constantinople and so it's logical to conclude that "the king" is the power holding Constantinople or modern day Istanbul in Turkey. This has subsequently been taken over, after the fall of the Roman Empire by the Ottoman Turks. In verse 40 we read of the time of the end. We read of a revival of the occupying power of “The King of the North” - the propehcy states: "and the king of the north shall come against him (the power in Istanbul) like a whirlwind”. Here then, God has revealed that an occupying power which controls all the territories of the king of the north will come against the territory of Istanbul. Russia will become the King of the North Because of the prophecy of Ezekiel 38 we expect the occupying power of the King of the North to be none other than Russia and so it is hugely significant that Russia has troops on the ground and planes in the air in this area as well as leading the coalition of Syria, Iran and Iraq. This is all the territory of the King of the North. We expect that Russia's influence in the region will become greater and greater. The next step in fulfilling the prophecies is that, at some stage Russia will invade the remnants of the power of “the king” in Istanbul. We are unsure exactly when or why this might happen but things are certainly moving in that direction.

In turn, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said army setbacks were part of normal warfare. Battles have been raging around the hospital on the southwestern outskirts of Jisr al-Shughour, where army forces and allied fighters have been holed up since the extremists’ offensive began. Government forces have endured a series of setbacks on the battlefield and Islamist fighters have edged closer to Assad's stronghold in the coastal areas. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is actively supporting a hardline coalition of Islamist rebels against Bashar al-Assad’s regime that includes al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria. The country is focusing its backing on the combined Jaish al-Fatah, or the Army of Conquest, a command structure for the jihadist groups in Syria that includes Jabhat al-Nusra, an extremist rival to Islamict State which shares many of its aspirations for a fundamentalist caliphate. It threatens to trump Washington’s own attempt to train so-called “pro-Western opposition fighters”, announced by President Barack Obama a year ago but finally launched only last week. The number of fighters involved is small and, crucially, the State Department insists that they would take the field against Isis and not against the regime. However, official Washington’s attitude has to be examined apart from its real interests. Many refer arising of terroristic entities such as al-Qaeda and Islamic State with US’s activity in the region. The Army of Conquest is the coalition, whose formation was announced in March, comprises a range of mostly jihadist and Islamist groups including Al-Qaeda affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra, Jund al-Aqsa and the powerful Islamist Ahrar al-Sham. Its command center is established in Idlib, northern Syria. Turkish officials admit giving logistical and intelligence support to the command headquarters. Although they deny giving direct help to al-Nusra, they acknowledge that the group would be beneficiaries. Turkish officials claim that bolstering Ahrar al-Sham will weaken the influence of al-Nusra. Material support – arms and money – have been coming from the Saudis, say rebels and officials. Syria will face greater instability and control by extremist groups as soon as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's momentum in fighting off rebel groups is decreased. U.S. security officials attribute the gains of militants in part to their wide battleground experience and ability to use advanced tactics. There are also marks that extremists have become more coherent in their organization. The U.S. is continuing to argue that it supports only moderate rebels. Meanwhile, U.S. officials pointed out that they still had trouble identifying moderate partners, while al Qaeda affiliate al Nusra and Islamic State were tried to take advantage of any cracks in the government's control. In account of these facts, question arises. If US has troubles with identifying ‘moderate rebel groups’ and its training of “pro-Western opposition fighters” is failed, which entities is U.S. supporting now? The Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov met his U.S. counterpart John Kerry, on Tuesday, in the Russian city of Sochi. Addressing the media after the talks, both diplomats stressed that they were on common ground with regards to many issues, including the situation in Syria and the threat of Islamic State terrorists in the region, as well as the Iranian nuclear deal. They also discussed the developing conflict in Yemen. The Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergei Kislyak added that the discussion between the ministers and President Putin will help define priorities and outline a future course in the relations between the two countries.
