Groove Armada

Groove Armada are an English electronic music duo from London, composed of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay. They achieved chart success with their singles "I See You Baby" and "Superstylin'". The group has released eight studio albums, four of which have charted in the UK Albums Chart top 50.

History

Groove Armada first formed in the mid-1990s after both Cato and Findlay had been introduced by Cato's wife and soon started their own club, also called Groove Armada, after a 1970s discothèque.

By 1997 they had released a few singles, including "4 Tune Cookie" and the song that first brought them minor fame, "At the River", which sampled "Old Cape Cod" by Patti Page (used in the film Die Hard 2). The song went on to be one of Groove Armada's best-known tracks and has been found on numerous chill out compilations.

Their first album, Northern Star, was released in 1998 on Tummy Touch Records, and was followed by a second, Vertigo, in 1999, which had a more mainstream and 'polished' sound, thus making the UK Album Chart's upper 20 and being certified silver in the UK. It also included "At the River" which was re-released as a full-fledged single. An album of remixed tracks from Vertigo entitled The Remixes followed in 2000, along with their contribution to the Back to Mine mix album series.

Axact

Axact (Urdu: ایگزیکٹ‎) is a Pakistani software company that runs numerous websites selling fake academic degrees. As of May 2015, it was being investigated by Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency. The company also owns the media company BOL Network and sells fake degrees and theses to foreign students.

History

Axact was founded by Shoaib Ahmed Shaikh, who serves as its chairman. It is based in Karachi, and has over 2,000 employees. According to Shaikh, the company was founded in 1997 with fewer than 10 employees working in a single room. In a 2013 interview with Newsweek magazine he further described it as the world’s leading IT company and said that Axact had eight broad-business units and products, more than 5,200 dedicated employees and associates globally and as many as 8.3 million customers worldwide. The company website said in 2015 that the company had 10 diverse business units that offer more than 23 world class products, more than two billion users, and a global presence across 6 continents, 120 countries and 1,300 cities with more than 25,000 employees and associates.

Edge Hill University

Edge Hill University is a campus-based public university situated in Ormskirk, Lancashire, England. The institution was opened on 24 January 1885 as Edge Hill College, the first non-denominational teacher training college for women in England, before admitting its first male students in 1959. In 2005, Edge Hill was granted Taught Degree Awarding Powers by the Privy Council and became Edge Hill University on 18 May 2006.

Edge Hill was named University of the Year in 2014 in the 10th annual Times Higher Education Awards. The University had been shortlisted three times previously, 2007/8, 2010/11 and 2011/12 making it the only university to be shortlisted four times in seven years. In 2015 the university was named the Times Higher Education's Best University Workplace after claiming the number one spot in all four key markers of a contented workforce in the Times Higher Education (THE) Best University Workplace Survey.

The university's campus is situated in Ormskirk in West Lancashire and was named the safest campus to live at in the North West and the fifth-safest in the country by The Complete University Guide. A focus on sustainability has resulted in Edge Hill winning a Green Flag Award as well as a commendation in the 2011 Green Gown Awards made by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges.

Hill

A hill is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain. It often has a distinct summit, although in areas with scarp/dip topography a hill may refer to a particular section of flat terrain without a massive summit (e.g. Box Hill, Surrey).

Terminology

The distinction between a hill and a mountain is unclear and largely subjective, but a hill is universally considered to be less tall and less steep than a mountain. In the United Kingdom, geographers historically regarded mountains as hills greater than 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level, which formed the basis of the plot of the 1995 film The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain. In contrast, hillwalkers have tended to regard mountains as peaks 2,000 feet (610 m) above sea level: the Oxford English Dictionary also suggests a limit of 2,000 feet (610 m) and Whittow states "Some authorities regard eminences above 600 m (2,000 ft) as mountains, those below being referred to as hills." The Great Soviet Encyclopedia defines hill as an upland with a relative height up to 200 m (660 ft).
