Daniel Van Buyten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdaːnijɛl vɑn ˈbœytə(n)]; born 7 February 1978 in Chimay) is a Belgian footballer who plays as a defender and also as an emergency striker for Bayern Munich, following a June 2006 transfer from Hamburg. His father, Franz, was a Belgian popular catcher/wrestler in Europe from 1960 to 1980. His mother, Renate, is a German.

In the 2003–04 season, Van Buyten, then of Olympique Marseille, had a short term loan spell in England with Manchester City but did not make a full time move to the Premier League.

In June 2006, Bayern Munich announced it had acquired Van Buyten from rivals Hamburg, and signed him to a contract lasting through the 2009–10 season. Van Buyten had a highly successful first season at the Bavarian club, forming a centre-back partnership with Lúcio. Van Buyten scored his first goal for Bayern Munich against Energie Cottbus on 9 December 2006. Bayern ran out 2–1 winners and it was Van Buyten's goal which secured the win. Van Buyten then scored his second goal for the club in the loss to Borussia Dortmund. However, Van Buyten's most valuable contribution came against Milan on 3 April 2007, in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final. Van Buyten scored two away goals to level the match and giving Bayern Munich the advantage in the tie (see below). The two close range efforts doubled his tally to four goals for the season.

Daniel (Hebrew: דָּנִיֵּאל, Modern Daniyyel Tiberian Dāniyyêl ; Arabic: دانيال, meaning in Hebrew "God is my Judge") is the protagonist in the Book of Daniel of the Hebrew Bible. In the narrative, when Daniel was a young man, he was taken into Babylonian captivity where he was educated in Chaldean thought. However, he never converted to Neo-Babylonian ways. By Divine Wisdom from his God, Yahweh, he interpreted dreams and visions of kings, thus becoming a prominent figure in the court of Babylon. Eventually, he had apocalyptic visions of his own that have been interpreted as the Four monarchies. In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim (BC 606), Daniel and his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were among the young Jewish nobility carried off to Babylon. The four were chosen for their intellect and beauty to be trained as advisors to the Babylonian court,(Daniel 1) Daniel was given the name Belteshazzar, i.e., prince of Bel, or Bel protect the king!(not to be confused with the neo-Babylonian king, Belshazzar). Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were given the Babylonian names, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, respectively.

Eden Hazard (born 7 January 1991) is a Belgian international footballer who currently plays for French club Lille in Ligue 1 and the Belgium national team. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger. Hazard is known for his creativity, speed, and technical ability and is described as a "fearless, explosive attacking midfielder who can change the game with a turn of pace or a dribble". He has also been described as "a defender's nightmare" and has earned critical acclaim for his playing style, which has led to the media, coaches, and players drawing comparisons to FIFA World Player of the Year winners Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Hazard is the son of former Belgian footballers and began his football career in Belgium playing for local clubs Royal Stade Brainois and Tubize. In 2005, he moved to France joining first division club Lille. Hazard spent two years in the club's academy and, at the age of 16, made his professional debut in November 2007. In his first full season as a starter, he won the National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) Young Player of the Year award becoming the first non-French player to win the award. In the 2009–10 season, Hazard captured the award again becoming the first player to win the award twice. He was also named to the league's Team of the Year. Since making his debut in 2007, Hazard has become an integral part of the club under manager Rudi Garcia racking up over 190 appearances. In the 2010–11 season, he was a part of the Lille team that won the league and cup double and, as a result of his performances, was named the UNFP Ligue 1 Player of the Year becoming the youngest player to win the award. Hazard was also given the Bravo Award by Italian magazine Guerin Sportivo for his performances during the 2010–11 season.
