The Chronicles Vlog #4 is a multi-part mini-series documenting our two-week long adventures in Japan. This series is filled with a ton of random, interesting content and we not only travel to Tokyo for the Tokyo Auto Salon 2015 event, but also tour various tuning shops in throughout. In this series you will also follow us from Tokyo to Osaka and everyone in-between.
For the ninth installment in this mini-series, we continue our evening with our Osaka friends to a private gathering of Civics at a local parking area off the highway. The meet features Civics from throughout Osaka who are friends and supporters of Car Make Across. The guys have some fun on the highway but nothing crazy. We tried to get as much footage as we could of the cars cruising the highway but don't expect any sort of racing as there was really none of that. After the meet, you follow us for a bit on the road as we head to dinner with friends. Since there were individuals present that needed to have their identities protected, we cut filming during the dinner.
*I am not a videographer and this wasn't meant to be a visual masterpiece of any sort. I am merely capturing bits and pieces of my life for you guys to see.

Storefront for Art and Architecture
97 Kenmare Street, New York
With George Baird, Kenneth Frampton, Reinhold Martin
A discussion on architecture, planning, and the built environment in conjunction with the launch of Writings on Architecture and the City, George Baird’s collection of critical essays.
About the Participants:
George Baird is founder of Baird Sampson Neuert Architects, former Dean and Emeritus Professor at the University of Toronto’s Daniel School of Architecture, and the RAIC’s 2010 Gold Medalist for his career-long contributions to Canadian architecture and cities. From his pioneering application of post-structuralist theory to architecture in Meaning in Architecture, 1969, (Charles Jencks co-editor) to the reflections on Hannah Arendt in his 1995 Space of Appearance, Baird’s writing, editing and teaching has probed the essence of creation and city-dwelling. Similarly, his professional practice from the 1975 urban design study On Building Downtown for the City of Toronto, to Governor-General’s award-winning buildings demonstrate a rare ability to transfer abstract ideas to the contingencies of city-building and construction.
Kenneth Frampton is a British architect, critic, historian and the Ware Professor of Architecture at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University. Frampton’s influential publications include Modern Architecture: A Critical History, in its 5th edition this year, and Labour, Work and Architecture, amongst many others.
Reinhold Martin is Associate Professor of Architecture in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University, where he directs the PhD program in architecture and the Temple Hoyne Buell Center for the Study of American Architecture. He is a member of Columbia’s Institute for Comparative Literature and Society as well as the Committee on Global Thought.
About Storefront Salon:
Storefront Salon is a monthly intimate and informal gathering at Storefront’s gallery to promote dialogue connecting art and architecture to broader contemporary issues. These facilitated discussions are open to everyone, and will bring together Storefront’s members, network, and the community to discuss and dissect the role of culture in the most recent and relevant public debates.

Friday May 8th, 6-7pm.
Storefront for Art And Architecture Gallery Space, 97 Kenmare, New York.
Over the last decade art museums have restaged many performances and dances, mostly from the 1960s and 1970s. Not quite live, not quite dead, these reenactments have introduced a zombie time into these institutions. Sometimes this hybrid temporality, neither present nor past, takes on a gray tonality, not unlike that of the old photographs on which the reenactments are often based, and like these photos the events seem both real and unreal, documentary and fictive. Sometimes, too, the spaces that are proposed to present this undead art are imagined as gray: along with the white cube for painting and sculpture and the black box for projected-image art, “gray boxes” are envisioned to maintain such work in this state of suspended animation. These and other phenomena will be discussed.
Hosted by Hal Foster with the participation of Sarah Oppenheimer and Julian Rose.

For awhile many of us have been excited by the prospect of Decentralized Autonomous Organization. The power of decentralized systems can exist in the real world and already do in nature. With tools like Ethereum and SwarmOps coming out, soon we'll be able to organize Global Decentralized Movements. This thursday we'll be exploring 3 DAO's, how they'll work, and how we can support each other.
• DAO #1: The Decentralized Dance Party - Gary Lachance
If you haven't heard of this yet do yourself a favour and click here. The DDP has been blowing people's minds for over 5 years, and the time has finally come for them to release The Official DDP Field Manual which will Open Source their glorious decentralized parties. Their goal is to create a simultaneous Global Party for World Peace. They'll be issuing Peace Bonds and win the Nobel Peace Prize for Partying, two times in a row!
• DAO #2: Coinfest- Andrew Wagner
CoinFest started in 2013 as a relatively small gathering of 100 or so Bitcoiners, celebrating the adoption of Bitcoin at a Waves Coffee House in Vancouver. It was conceived as a way to incentivize cryptocurrency acceptance while educating the public about its importance and use. Its popular success prompted the Bitcoiniacs (now CoinTrader) to place the world’s first Bitocin ATM there, which we again celebrated. By 2014, CoinFest was growing in popularity, and that year it took a new direction: CoinFest spread across Canada and now internationally, exemplifying the border–defying and decentralized nature of crypto. Vancouver lead the way again by booking multiple venues simultaneously for a less centrally organized variety of exhibits, as Satoshi would have wanted.
• DAO #3: The Decentral Network- Cameron Gray
The Decentral Network is the idea that anyone in the world can create their own Decentral space and effectively become Nodes in The Decentral Network. The goal of Decentral Nodes may vary but with the general consensus they should spread decentralization ethos, community, and commerce to the cities, and towns they're situated in. Decentral Vancouver has helped build up a strong cryptocurrency community in Vancouver, with plans to do more outreach to teach developers and grassroots organizers about Blockchain Technology. With Nodes all over the world we can connect our cities to the decentralized tradenet economy that is forming.

wn.com/Salon Talks W Matin Field Of La'Zooz The Decentralized Ridesharing App

Theater practitioners have been incorporating emerging new technologies for centuries. Just as the electric light replaced gaslamp, projected images have become increasingly integral to our storytelling, enhancing our work in many ways. This lively conversation with some of the festival artists using video in their plays will delve into questions such as: Beyond providing realistic or mood backdrops; what does projection contribute to a theatrical event, especially the close-up? What is the emotional or narrative impact? Are digital natives more drawn to this element? Does video bring an “interiority” to the theatrical experience?
This panel will be led by festival participant and Head of Duende CalArts Marissa Chibas, and includes panelists Peter Flaherty (head of the video design program in the CalArts Theater School), Daniel Jáquez, Director & Thomas Ontiveros, Video/Projections/Lighting Designer of INTAR’s Patience, Fortitude and Other Antidepressants, Javier Gonzalez, Artistic Director of Caborca Theater, and Justin Nestor, Associate Artistic Director of Theater Mitu.
