PALMYRA, SYRIA — A new video from the bloodthirsty death cult ISIS allegedly shows 25 captured Syrian soldiers executed at the site of ancient Roman ruins in Syria.
The so-called Islamic state gained control of the Syrian town of Palmyra — home to ancient Roman ruins considered archaeological treasures by the United Nations — sometime around May 21.
While some predicted the fundamentalist group would destroy the ruins, ISIS leadership reportedly announced that as the ruins themselves were not "idols" or statues depicting human or animal forms, so the site was spared. Though, a famous statue of a lion and statues at the ruins featuring human faces were reportedly wrecked with sledgehammers.
In a video reportedly released on July 4, the ancient Roman ruins became the backdrop of a murder scene in which 25 ISIS followers who appeared to range in age between 12 and 20 are seen hurting 25 captured Syrian soldiers on to the amphitheater's stage.
After a long reading of the "justifications" for executing the soldiers, the video then shows all 25 soldiers killed by a gunshot to the back of the head. The execution was public and open to all males, including young children.
The new video comes hot on the heels of other sensational ISIS videos that seem to be competing for some sort of "most barbaric" execution competition. Other recent clips from the group have shown victims drowned to death, blown up with a bazooka, beheaded and shot.
For their part, ISIS released video and images showing alleged harsh prisons in Palmyra when it was under the control of the the Syrian regime. ISIS maintains it has liberated the people of the area from the Assad regime, though reports claim up to 400 men, women and children were butchered by the extremist group as they "liberated" Palmyra.

Syrian Army & Russian Air Force in Battle of Palmyra
On 30 September 2015, Russia started military intervention in the Syrian Civil War, consisting of air strikes primarily in north-western Syria by Russia against militant groups opposed to the Syrian government, including al-Nusra Front (al-Qaeda in the Levant), the Islamic State and the Army of Conquest. The Russian Air Force had significant ground support from the Syrian military, Iranian Revolutionary Guards, and allied militias. Prior to this intervention, Russian involvement in the Syrian Civil War had mainly consisted of supplying the Syrian Army. Russia intervened after a formal request from the Syrian government for military help against rebel and jihadist groups in Syria. Russian officials have acknowledged their objective is to help the Syrian government retake territory from various opposition groups, including groups backed and armed by the United States. The situation as it developed in October 2015 was widely assessed to be a proxy war between the United States and Russia.

(Beirut, AFP, 5 Jul 2015) - The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group on Saturday released a video showing 25 Syrian government soldiers being executed by teenagers in the ancient amphitheatre in the city of Palmyra.
The video documented an execution that reportedly happened shortly after the militant group captured the city on May 21.
It shows the soldiers in green and brown military uniforms being shot dead on the amphitheatre's stage in front of an enormous version of the group's black and white flag.
The executioners all appear to be children or teenagers and are wearing desert camouflage and brown bandanas.
The killings are carried out in front of a relatively sparse crowd of men and some children watching from the ancient theatre's seats.
ISIS reportedly carried out more than 200 executions, including of civilians, in and around Palmyra in the period when it captured the city.
The executions in the Palmyra amphitheatre were first reported on May 27 by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor, less than a week after ISIS captured the city.
At the time, Syria's antiquities director Mamoun Abdelkarim said he feared the killings could signal the start of "the group's barbarism and savagery against the ancient monuments of Palmyra".
"Using the Roman theatre to execute people proves that these people are against humanity," he told AFP.
The Greco-Roman ruins at Palmyra are listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, and the city's capture by ISIS prompted international concerns for the fate of its spectacular ancient treasures.
So far, ISIS is not reported to have damaged the actual ruins, although it has blown up and desecrated Muslim graves in the city and destroyed a statue outside the Palmyra Museum.
ISIS has regularly released videos of its mass executions, with slick production and gruesome violence that experts say is a key propaganda tool for the group.
__________________________________________________
(BBC News, 5 Jul 2015) - A video apparently released by the Islamic State group shows 25 men being shot dead in the ancient city of Palmyra, in Syria.
IS said the men were soldiers captured in the city of Homs. They were shot dead inside Palmyra's amphitheatre.
Stills from the video showed the killers to be young males, possibly even as young as 13 or 14.
IS captured the site and the neighbouring city of Palmyra in late May.
The video was distributed by accounts known to be linked with Islamic State militants. It is not clear when it was filmed.
The killings took place on a stage at the front of the amphitheatre before a large black IS flag.
Several hundred men in civilian clothes are filmed sitting on steps watching the shootings. Among them was a young boy.
In close-up shots of the men waiting to be killed, they appear to have been beaten on the face.
Days after IS claimed Palmyra, it executed 20 men in the same amphitheatre.
At the time, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said residents near the site were rounded up and forced to watch the killings.
In May, Mamoun Abdelkarim, Syria's head of antiquities, said: "Using the Roman theatre to execute people proves that these people are against humanity."
Mr Abdulkarim said most of the museum's antiquities had been transferred to Damascus before IS approached the city.
Since then, there have been reports that mines have been planted among some of Palmyra's ruins, and there were claims this week that militants destroyed an ancient sculpture outside Palmyra's museum.
Since capturing the city, IS has also taken control of a military airbase and a notorious prison nearby.
The ancient ruins are situated in a strategically important area on the road between the capital, Damascus, and the contested eastern city of Deir al-Zour.
Fighters with IS started claiming vast swathes of Syria and Iraq in 2014, aided in part by the insecurity generated by Syria's civil war.
More than 230,000 Syrians have died in the war, which began after President Bashar al-Assad's forces tried to put down anti-government protests in March 2011.

wn.com/2015 Syria I.S. Force Child Executioners To Murder 25 Men At Palmyra's Amphitheatre 5 7 15

Russian Su-34 bombers destroyed IS headquarters and a command post in the Aleppo province, Konashenkov said on Monday, adding that there had been “direct hits” on structures housing field commanders in Dayr Hafir and al-Bab.
Some 30 IS military vehicles including tanks were destroyed in the forested area near the city of Idlib in northwest Syria, according to the ministry.
“We have irrefutable intelligence, including [intercepted] communications between the militants in the area, [proving] the destruction and damage of the terrorists’ armored vehicles,” Konashenkov said.
Russia launched its anti-IS operation in Syria on September 30 after a request from President Bashar Assad. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also expressed concern about the number of Russian extremists in the country.
On Saturday, three days into the operation, Russia’s Defense Ministry said that, based on Russian intelligence, the militants were fleeing the area which had been under their control. It also stated that the strikes have significantly reduced the terrorists’ combat capabilities.

Travel video about destination Palmyra in Syria.
The ancient city of Palmyra is located in the Tadmur Oasis in the very heart of the Syrian savannah. Surrounded by arid desert it was once a proud and pulsating trading metropolisand everywhere can be seen relics of a bygone age that was full of myth and mystique. The influence of the legendary oasis city grew due to it having been regarded as a province of Rome. The Romans soon recognized the strategic importance of Palmyra as it was a vital centre of trade in the Near East. Palmyra’s fine buildings such as its Amphitheatre were typical of its impressive architecture. Most of the Tetrapylon has been restored. It towers high above the ancient ruins and the Great Colonnade was once the main street of the historic metropolis. Beyond the city walls in the Valley Of Tombs the mystic atmosphere of the former caravan city becomes apparent. Several well preserved mausoleums give the surreal looking desert landscape a truly ghostly atmosphere. The architecture of these multi-floored burial places are unique in the world. The view from the Arabian fortress extends across the picturesque ruins of the city to the endless horizons of the desert. The oasis and ancient remains of Palmyra look almost surreal as if in a dream yet the old ruins and the mighty fortress really do exist in very tangible and resplendent form.

Travel video about destination Syria.
Syria is an ancient country of culture located between the Mediterranean and the desert. Its ancient desert metropolises, old villages, impenetrable fortresses and biblical harbour towns have witnessed the rich and fascinating history of bygone times.Damascus is the capital of Syria and symbol of culture in the Near East and located a hundred kilometres from the Mediterranean coast. The Kalaa Citadel is situated on the periphery of the old town that was once surrounded by huge walls and it was from there that Saladin fended off the attacks of the Crusaders. The Khan As´Ad Pasha is often referred to as being the most beautiful caravansary in the Near East. Its inner courtyard is covered by eight mighty and partly painted cupolas each of which is supported by four pillars. Set amid the desert savannah of Syria are the proud remains of a unique and mysterious metropolis, Palmyra, a legendary ancient city that was built due to the existence of the Tadmur Oasis. The shortest and fastest route from the Mediterranean to Mesopotamia and Persia travels directly past the Tadmur Oasis thus it was only a question of time until an important trading post was founded there. Around a quarter of a million Bedouins live in Syria’s desert areas. They are nomads who speak Arabic and belong to the Muslim faith and their income is derived from sheep, goats and camels which produce both milk and meat. They travel the desert accompanied by their animals. Further north on the edge of the fertile Al Ghab Ditch is the ancient metropolis of Apameia, one of the most beautiful cities in the Near East. Apart from Bosra and Palmyra this huge city of ruins is one of the most important Hellenist regions in Syria. Syria is the Pearl Of The East. With deserts, wadis and mountains, castles and crusader fortresses, Roman ruins, palaces and mosques. A legendary country between both past and future whose cultural treasures still survive today.

Travel video about destination Delhi in India.
Delhi is the political and administrative capital of India and the largest democracy in the world, a melting pot of both culture and religion plus a constantly expanding metropolis that has more than ten million inhabitants. Built on the site of twelve former cities it is the gateway to India and has been the country’s centre of power for almost a thousand years.Jama Masjid, the Friday Mosque, is one of old Delhi’s main landmarks, bequeathed to the city by the Mogul king, Shah Jahan. Its huge inner courtyard accommodates twenty thousand. Raj Ghat is a memorial to the country’s former political leaders and once contained the funeral pyres of Mahatma Ghandi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Ghandi. Rajpath is the name of an impressive three hundred metre wide road flanked by green swathes and luxuriant fountains, remnants of British Imperial rule. The National Rail Museum contains an interesting collection of nostalgic locomotives, carriages and memorabilia and for those who do not wish to risk a journey on India’s present day over-packed trains, the museum provides the perfect opportunity to imagine how it must have been on the Indian railroads of old. The Safdar-Jang Mausoleum was built in the final years of Mogul rule and is an architectural monument of this golden era. It contains each design element of this epoch, with a terrace-like substructure, painted stucco and a dome. No other city in this huge and diverse country demonstrates the dramatic history of India with all the intensity of colour as Delhi.

Travel video about destination Damascus in Syria.
Damascus is the capital of Syria and is a symbol of culture in the Near East. A hundred kilometres from the Mediterranean coast, the strategically located city was once the capital of the Umayyad.Cannons, the busts of various presidents and military vehicles are displayed in the large courtyard of the Takiyeh Mosque, an ancient Dervish monastery complex. Built in 1554 and designed by Ottoman master architect, Sinan, it also includes an adjoining inn for the numerous pilgrims who travelled to Mecca. Damascus has always been much prized: by the pharaohs and the Babylonian monarch, Nebukadnezar, and later, Alexander The Great. Then came Persian, Roman and Islamic emperors followed by the Crusaders and Mongols. The Kalaa Citadel is situated on the periphery of the old town that was once surrounded by huge walls. It was from here that Saladin fended off the attacks of the Crusaders. The Romans built a fort here that was constantly extended with impressive walls and towers and located directly outside the city wall, the River Barada was also of strategic importance. Although the Mongols destroyed the inner buildings, the fortress walls survived. The Suq is an important part of every Islamic city, a market that originated in ancient times. Thousands of shops in numerous interconnected lanes form the commercial heart of Damascus. In the Gold Suq everything glitters, bracelets, rings and even a large variety of kitchen utensils. Damascus has for thousands of years been a place desired by the powerful. Yet it has managed to survive and is still the most beautiful capital city in the Near East.

Extravaganza: A spectacular display of Cesky Krumlov.
Located in the Czech Republic, Česky Krumlov is a unique and extraordinary city and was first settled in the fifteenth century B.C.Each nook and cranny of this unique gem surprises with something new to see and provides a wonderful insight into the history of Bohemia. For nearly three hundred years, and up until the beginning of the seventeenth century Bohemian Krummau was ruled by the Lords Of Rosenberg. It was a time of much prosperity that in turn gave rise to many new and magnificent buildings in the centre of the town. In 1992 it was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and since then it has shined out in all of its former glory. Most of the restoration work on the town’s ancient dwelling houses, churches and monastery complexes has now been fully completed. Česky Krumlov Castle features a special attraction with a long tradition: since the end of the sixteenth century a number of bears have lived within the castle grounds! Indeed, the castle’s large moat provides more space for these wonderful creatures than they would have in any zoo. Česky Krumlov is popular with visitors from all four corners of the world and it is, without a doubt, one of the finest and most well preserved treasures of European history.

Take a tour of Ancient City of Bosra in Bosra, Syrian Arab Republic -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
The half-standing ruins of this dark-stoned city rise out of the southern Syrian landscape.
Nearly deserted today, Bosra has a great deal of history from thousands of years of habitation by different cultures.
The city is at least old enough to have appeared in historical documents from the fourteenth century BC.
Early in the first millennium AD, Bosra became a part of the Roman Empire, which is the strongest influence seen at work in the ruins.
Since then, it has been the territory of the Byzantine Empire and the Arabs who swept in during the seventh century.
Among the ruined city's Roman and Christian structures, the fortified amphitheater is probably the greatest.
This deep, stadium-like building is mostly intact and gives a taste of what Bosra may once have been like.

Travel video about destination Petra in Jordan.
Hidden amid the Wadi Musa, the Valley Of Moses in South Jordan, is one of the most fascinating and mysterious ruins on Earth, the legendary rock city of Petra. A desert tribe, the Nabateans, once established a settlement in the shelter of the rocks and founded a splendid royal city that has survived to the present day.For many centuries their sanctuaries and dwellings that had been carved into the rock fell into oblivion until they were later rediscovered. Several ancient paths lead through one of the most fascinating metropolis’ of ancient times and a seemingly hostile desert world of rock yet full of the fascinating remains a legendary people. Before the Nabateans built this splendid rock city within the desert they first had to organise a supply of water. With great technical skill they succeeded in diverting the water from distant springs along the walls of narrow canyons and into the city. Even today Petra has a unique and magical atmosphere and both the local Bedouin tribes as well as those who visit cannot fail but be impressed by it. The legendary rock town of the Nabateans provides a remarkable insight into a bygone epoch of the Near East that continues to be full of historic mystique.
