Su letra es de Khalil Mardam Bey y su música de Mohammed Flayfel, que también compuso el himno nacional de la Autoridad Nacional Palestina, así como muchas otras canciones populares árabes. Fue adoptado como himno oficial en 1936 y dejó temporalmente de serlo cuando Siria formó parte de la República Árabe Unida junto con Egipto en 1958. Entonces se decidió que el himno nacional de la RAU sería una combinación del himno Egipcio y "Homat el Diyar". Although the name of the anthem is "Guardians of the Homeland", which is a metaphor for the Syrian army, only the first stanza in fact talks about said army. The stanza breakdown is as follows: The first stanza is about Syria's army, and its role in defending the nation and in defending the citizens' integrity and Arabness. The second stanza is about Syria's scenery and terrain, where it talks about Syria's plains, mountains, and sunlit skies. The third stanza is about Syria's people, their hopes, martyrs, and flag. Der Text stammt von Khalil Mardam Bey (1895-1959), die Melodie von Mohammed Flayfel (1899-1985). ●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ஜ۩العربية۩ஜ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬● من ويكيبيديا، الموسوعة الحرة النشيد العربي السوري [1] هو النشيد الوطني الرسمي للجمهورية العربية السورية تم تبنيه منذ العام 1938 م، ويعرف النشيد أيضا باسم نشيد حماة الديار نسبة إلى الكلمتين اللتين يبدأ بهما النشيد. توقف استخدام النشيد كنشيد رسمي خلال فترة الوحدة مع مصر وتمت الاستعاضة عنه بنشيد آخر هو مزيج من النشيد الوطني المصري آنذاك (نشيد الحرية) والنشيدالوطني السوري { حماة الديار } ، وكان هذا المزيج هو النشيد الوطني الرسمي للجمهورية العربية المتحدة، وبعد الانفصال في 1961 م تم الرجوع إلى نشيد حماة الديار كنشيد وطني رسمي [[سوريا|للجمهورية العربية السورية]]. قام بكتابة كلمات النشيد الشاعر خليل مردم بك وأما الموسيقى فهي من تأليف محمد فليفل (الأخوين فليفل) تم تبنيها بعد إطلاق المسابقة التي أجريت لاختيار النشيد الوطني لسوريا عام 1938 م، وقد رُفِض لحنه في البداية، لكن النشيد كان قد انتشر في أنحاء البلاد، فرأت الحكومة أن تتبناه، وكافأت فليفل بمنحه وسام الاستحقاق السوري [2]. وعلى الرغم من بدء الاحتجاجات في آذار / مارس 2011 واعتماد المظاهرات ومن ثم المعارضة السياسية والمسلحة لعلم الانتداب كبديل عن العلم الحالي إلا أن أي من الطرفين (السلطة والمعارضة) لم يستخدم بشكل رسمي أي نشيد آخر كنشيد وطني.
