During the current wave of violence, many of the Palestinian attackers have come from East Jerusalem. The tension began with rumors Israel wanted to take over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the Eastern part of the country. Rumors the Israeli government denies. The Al-Aqsa compound is revered by Jews as the Temple Mount, and is the third holiest site in Islam, a national symbol for Palestinians. Israel took control of East Jerusalem including the holy sites in 1967, and this annexation is not recognized internationally.

On Wednesday, a 38-year-old Palestinian man drove a minivan into two groups of pedestrians in East Jerusalem, killing an Israeli border police officer and injuring at least 13 people.
The motorist, identified by Israeli authorities as Ibrahim al-Akri, rammed a crowd waiting at a light rail stop, and then plowed into others at the next intersection. After the second collision, he exited the vehicle and attacked bystanders with an iron bar before he was shot and killed by police.
Al-Akri was reportedly a Hamas operative who was recently released from prison. Hamas has claimed responsibility for the attack.

East Jerusalem represents the eastern half of Jerusalem and is viewed by Palestinians as the capital of Palestine. It became the focus of Palestinian settlement around the Old City of Jerusalem in the period after the Second World War and Israeli independence in 1948. Since East Jerusalem fell under Israeli control in the Six Day War of 1967, a large number of Jewish neighbourhoods have also been settled. East Jerusalem is the location of the first campus of the Hebrew University [1] on Mt Scopus, Although the university area and the military base near it were always under Israeli control, even prior to 1967. Despite the high level of coexistence, the area remains a point of contention in Arab-Israeli relations, somewhat intensified since the outbreak of hostilities in the last few years.
Between the negotiations at Camp David and Taba, various options were explored to give the Palestinians more of a presence in East Jerusalem, which they claim as their capital. The peripheral villages and neighborhoods to the north and south of the city might have been ceded, although the Palestinians might receive less than full sovereignty over them - "functional autonomy," "administrative control" or "limited sovereignty."
In Taba Israel considered ceding some parts of the core areas as well: some of the "Holy Basin" between the Old City and the Mount of Olives, downtown East Jerusalem, the Sheikh Jarrah Quarter, and in the Old City the Muslim and Christian Quarters. The Temple Mount/Haram issue remained unresolved, with Israel prepared to cede "functional sovereignty" (though not official) to the "upper" area of the mosques, while retaining sole sovereignty over the "lower" Western Wall.

STORYLINE:
Israeli bulldozers destroyed six buildings, including at least three homes, in contested east Jerusalem on Tuesday, resuming the
demolition of Palestinian property after a halt aimed at encouraging peace talks.
Jerusalem house demolitions are a volatile issue because of conflicting Israeli and Palestinian claims to the city's eastern sector.
Israel sees it as part of its capital city, while Palestinians want it for their own future capital.
The municipality said none of the structures razed were homes, and that all had been illegally built and were not populated.
The demolitions were carried out by a court order, the municipality said in a statement.
But Palestinians disputed those claims, saying three of the demolished structures were homes and one was a warehouse.
Two daybeds and bags crammed with children's clothing and kitchen utensils were strewn outside one of the buildings.
Basem Isawi, 48, an unemployed contractor, stood amid the rubble of his unfinished home, forbidding his six children to come out of the nearby house where they currently live to see what had happened to it.
Isawi said he built the almost-finished home illegally for about 25-thousand US dollars because he was convinced the municipality would deny him a permit.
He had been notified of the impending demolition but did not know when it was slated to happen, he said.
"We watched them destroy the house, and we couldn't do anything," Isawi said.
Police said the demolitions were carried out without incident.
Since October, no houses had been demolished in the eastern sector of the city until Tuesday.
The demolitions seemed to indicate a move away from the unofficial freeze on them, which Israel imposed after much criticism from Washington.

Recent months' reprisal killings in and around Jerusalem can be traced to June.
That is when three abducted Israeli teenagers were found murdered, and more crimes followed.
Already heavy security was tightened amid fears of another Intifada uprising but there was a slight easing of pressure last Friday.
After weeks of on-again-off-again lockdown around the al Aqsa Mosque, Muslims were allowed to pray.
Hard-right Jews had been demanding praying rights themselves at their own holy sites in …

There have been further clashes between Palestinian youths and Israeli security forces after Benjamin Netanyahu's government advanced plans to build more than 1,000 new settler homes in East Jerusalem.
Speaking at the opening of the Knesset's winter session, the Israeli Prime Minister vigorously defended Israel's right to build.
"The French build in Paris, the English build in London, the Israelis build in Jerusalem," he said.
But Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem is not recognised, mean…

When you think of traveling to Israel visiting religious sites in Jerusalem or basing yourself in Tel Aviv may initially come to mind. However, when exploring Israel it is paramount to set aside enough time to get off the beaten path and explore more of the country. Fortunately, for us, we were able to make two separate trips to Israel experiencing as much food, culture, historical and modern attractions as we possibly could.
The following is a list of things to do in Israel with a focus on the top attractions in this travel guide:
1) Regardless of whether you can swim (or not swim) well you will most certainly float when visiting the Dead Sea. Covering yourself in gooey mud and joining others floating is one of the top attractions in Israel.
2) No trip to Israel would be complete without sampling the local cuisine and especially the street food. With this in mind we walked all the way from our hotel room in Tel Aviv to Jaffa - an ancient city renowned for its amazing hummus and other street food. Aside from just hummus we were able to try Shaksouka, cheese stuffed pastries, malabi and kanafeh.
3) Having the opportunity to take a tour of the West Bank (or Palestine) is an eye opening experience. Media coverage, from the perspective of the west, often depicts this area as being quite unruly and poor; however, a tour there really dispels a lot of myths. We had the opportunity to eat falafel, walking around the streets and get a real sense of what life is like in this region. Some highlights included visiting Sheppard's Field, the Jordan River and oldest city in the world - Jericho. To end our trip we drank beer at the West Bank Palestinian brewery.
4) Getting off the beaten track a little we visited Rosh Hanikra. Known as the window to the Mediterranean we were treated to breathtaking views and an amazing sunset.
5) Aside from just eating our way around Jaffa, we took the time to properly explore it on foot. One of the top highlights was visiting a traditional flea market,
6) Taking the cable car up to visit Masada was a welcome relief considering how hot it was on the day we visited. As we wandered about we visited an old water cistern and Byzantine church. From our vantage point we had amazingly unobstructed views of the Dead Sea.
7) Caesarea! The ruins of the ancient city once given from Agus Caesar to Harrod the Great was an experience we'll never forget. Walking around in the Hippodrome allowed me to visualize what the old chariot races must have been like.
8) One of my favorite meals in Israel was prepared by a Druze family. This amazing feast, in the form of a buffet, featured kebabs, olives, chicken and stuffed cabbage just to name a few.
9) Wondering wear to rest your sleepy head while traveling in Israel? Look no further than the Fauzi Azar Inn in Nazareth. This converted Arab Mansion offers a charming stay. Best of all is that free cake and coffee is available throughout the day and the buffet breakfast is amazing.
10) One of the more frontier attractions was visiting Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We toured around the Banias Reserve and Mount Bental.
11) Considering how tasty the food is in Israel it would be a shame to leave without knowing how to recreate these delectable delights back home in your own kitchen. Fortunately, for us, we were able to take a cooking class at Dan Gourmet in Tel Aviv. We learned how to make Lahmacun and charred eggplant amongst other dishes.
12) Have you ever wondered how olive oil is made? Visiting an olive press answered our all of our questions and made us appreciate the craft of making this high quality cooking oil. For the best vantage point of Nazareth we headed to Mount Precipice for panoramic 360 degree views. Finally, we visited Haifa to check out the famous Bahá'í gardens.

A walk around the old city of Jerusalem during December 2010.
Please ONLY post comments relevant to travel and refrain from ANY political comments, positive or negative. They will be deleted. There are plenty of other Youtube videos which would welcome political commentary.
Jerusalem is located on a plateau in the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea, is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
During its long history, Jerusalem has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times. The oldest part of the city was settled in the 4th millennium BCE. In 1538, walls were built around Jerusalem under Suleiman the Magnificent. Today those walls define the Old City, which has been traditionally divided into four quarters - known since the early 19th century as the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters. The Old City became a World Heritage site in 1981. Modern Jerusalem has grown far beyond the Old City's boundaries.
Simply wandering the streets of the Old City while capturing the ambiance, historical sites, smells and different people will leave you with unforgettable experiences and a lifetime of amazing memories. Every person should visit Jerusalem at least once. I shall never forget my visits there. Neither will you!

Come to Dubai, the ancient City of Gold, for your next vacation.
Modernity and antiquity collide in this vibrant city. Shop at the same spice market locals have been visiting for generations, then visit the stores in the Gold Souk, a jewelry-centered traditional marketplace. For a more modern shopping experience, go to the Dubai Mall, home to over 1200 stores, an underwater zoo, and KidZania®, a “city” where children can roleplay various careers.
To soak up some of the legendary Dubai sunshine, simply step outside. Take in the view of the city from the observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. Continue your Dubai tour by wandering through the exotic buildings and resorts, or visit some of the public beaches. If you’d like to try something a little different and don’t mind paying a small fee, you can also attend local hotel beaches even if you aren’t staying there.
You can’t finish your Dubai sightseeing without a trip into the desert itself. Ride a camel, go sandboarding, or just stand out on the dunes and marvel at the beauty of it all.

Jerusalem Travel Guide: Located in the Judean Mountains between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea, Jerusalem is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It is the holiest city in Judaism and the spiritual center of the Jewish people since the 10th century BCE, the third-holiest in Islam and is also home to a number of significant and ancient Christian landmarks. It is also a city with a very violent past, as it was fiercely contested between Christianity and Islam during the brutal Crusade era. While the city has had a large Jewish majority since 1967, a wide range of national, religious, and socioeconomic groups are represented here. The walled area of Jerusalem, which until the late nineteenth century formed the entire city, is now called the Old City and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. It consists of four ethnic and religious sections — the Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim Quarters. Barely one square kilometer, the Old City is home to several of Jerusalem's most important and contested religious sites including the Western Wall and Temple Mount for Jews, the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslims, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for Christians.
Surrounding the Old City are more modern areas of Jerusalem. The civic and cultural center of modern Israel extends from western Jerusalem toward the country's other urban areas to the west, while areas populated mostly by Arabs can be found in the northern, eastern and southern districts.
Archaeological findings prove the existence of development within present-day Jerusalem as far back as the 4th millennium BCE, but the earliest written records of the city come in the Execration Texts (c. 19th century BCE) and the Amarna letters (c. 14th century BCE). According to Biblical accounts, the Jebusites, a Canaanite tribe, inhabited the area around the present-day city (under the name Jebus) until the late 11th century BCE. At that point (c. 1000s BCE), the Israelites, led by King David, invaded and conquered the city, expanding it southwards and establishing it as the capital of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah (the United Monarchy). It was renamed at this time as Yerushalayim (Jerusalem), a name by which it is still referred to today.
King David's reign over Jerusalem ended around 970 BCE when his son Solomon became the new king. Biblical sources state that within a decade Solomon started to build the first of two Holy Temples within city limits — Solomon's Temple (or the First Temple), a significant site in Jewish and Christian history as the last known location of the Ark of the Covenant. The period of the First Temple was marked by the division of the United Monarchy at the time of Solomon's death (c. 930 BCE) when the ten northern tribes, originally part of the Monarchy, split off to form the Kingdom of Israel. Under the leadership of the bloodline of David and Solomon, Jerusalem continued to act as the capital of the southern par of the split, the Kingdom of Judah. Later, with the Assyrian conquest of the Kingdom of Israel in 722 BCE, Jerusalem became the center of a Judah strengthened by the great number of Israeli refugees. In approximately 586 BCE, the Babylonians conquered the Kingdom of Judah including the city of Jerusalem, and the First Temple Period came to an end.
In 538 BCE, after fifty years of Babylonian captivity, the Jews were given permission from Persian King Cyrus the Great to return to Judah so they could rebuild Jerusalem and construct the Second Temple. The construction was completed in the year 516 BCE, seventy years after the destruction of the First Temple. Jerusalem regained its status as capital of Judah and center of Jewish worship for another four centuries, with a considerable portion of that period under Hasmonean rule. By 19 BCE, the Temple Mount was elevated and construction began on an expansion of the Second Temple under Herod the Great, a Jewish client king under Roman rule. In 6 CE, the city, as well as much of the surrounding area, came under direct Roman rule as the Judea Province. Still unchallenged, the Roman rule over Jerusalem and the region came to an end with the first Jewish-Roman war, the Great Jewish Revolt, which resulted in the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE. Jerusalem once again served as the national capital for the people of the region during the three-year rebellion known as Bar Kokhba's revolt. The Romans succeeded in sacking and recapturing the city in 135 CE and as a punitive measure, the Jews were banned from Jerusalem.

Dramatic video footage has emerged showing the moment a security guard gunned down the terrorist who murdered Rabbi Yeshayahu Krishevsky in Jerusalem, after plowing his car into a bus stop and emerging wielding a knife.
The attacker - named as Alaa Abu Jamal, a resident of Jabal Mukhaber in eastern Jerusalem - also injured another man before being killed. The attack was the second deadly terrorist incident in the capital Tuesday, and the fourth terrorist attack nationwide, following a deadly shooting and stabbing attack aboard a Jerusalem bus, and two separate stabbings in Ra'anana.
The quick-thinking security guard who shot Abu Jamaal likely saved many other lives, as dozens more innocent bystanders looked on.
The footage shows the terrorist - apparently still dressed in the uniform of the Bezeq telephone company where he was employed - scrambling to his feet after his initial attack, only to be shoved into a wall by a pedestrian and immediately shot by the security guard.
A second shot rings out a few seconds later, followed by a commotion as the cameraman relays what he's seeing over the phone.
Border police arrive shortly after, and several additional shots are heard.

A border police officer been wounded in a terrorist stabbing attack at Ammunition Hill in Jerusalem.
After some initial confusion and reports of a second casualty, police and paramedics clarified that the single victim was evacuated to hospital with light injuries, after managing to fend off the terrorist and shoot her.
The terrorist who carried out the attack, an Arab woman from eastern Jerusalem, has been hospitalized and is in critical condition.
Police also arrested an Arab man suspected of acting as her accomplice, close to the scene of the attack.
Initial reports had suggested the attack was a shooting, but presumably the shots which were heard were from police responding to the stabbing
According to a police statement: "A border police officer noticed a female terrorist who drew his suspicion along Haim Bar Lev Road and called out to her to stop.
"The terrorist continued walking and when she realized he was approaching her she turned to face him with a knife and stabbed him."
"The officer, who acted with great professionalism, managed to aim his weapon and neutralize her," the statement added.

A member of an Israeli anti-settlement group on Monday criticised an announcement by Israeli officials to approve the building of new apartments in an east Jerusalem settlement.
Hagit Ofran, Settlement Watch Director at Peace Now, said the decision by Jerusalem's Planning and Building Committee to approve construction of 500 housing units in Ramat Shlomo was "another proof that (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu is building settlements instead of building peace."
"This plan is not only adding more oil to the fire in the tensions that are already in Jerusalem, but it also makes it harder to get to a two-state solution," said Ofran.
East Jerusalem is home to the city's most sensitive Jewish, Christian and Muslim holy sites.
Israel says the whole city will forever be its capital, citing historical, religious and security reasons.
The international community, including the United States, does not recognise Israel's annexation of the eastern sector of Jerusalem.
The Palestinians seek that part as their future capital and oppose any Israeli construction there.
Palestinian protesters have been clashing regularly with Israeli security forces in east Jerusalem for months, and violence has particularly risen in recent days at a key Jerusalem holy site.

Palestinians on Tuesday condemned Israel's move to push forward with plans to build new apartments in an east Jerusalem settlement.

STORYLINE:
Muslim worshippers attended Friday prayers on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza and Istanbul.
Religious authorities in most Middle Eastern countries declared Friday to be the start of Ramadan, a period devoted to dawn-to-dusk fasting, prayers and good deeds.
Under heavy security, worshippers reached Jerusalem from West Bank checkpoints like Qalandyia and Bethlehem and made their way to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in East Jerusalem.
Their access to Jerusalem is controlled by Israel and subject to restrictions.
In Istanbul, scores of Turkish men spilled onto the streets to perform Friday prayers when a nearby mosque's courtyard overflowed with those observing the occasion.
With high temperatures and days at their longest of the year, this year's Ramadan is expected to be the toughest in the Middle East for more than three decades.
Despite the hardship, for many Muslims it's the most anticipated part of the year - a time of family togetherness and religious devotion, a break from routine.
Muslims believe God revealed the first verses of their holy book, the Quran, to the Prophet Muhammad during Ramadan.

1. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arriving at meeting with ambassadors from Asia-Pacific region
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister:
"Jerusalem has been the capital of the Jewish people for 3000 years. All Israeli governments have built in Jerusalem, we're not going to change that, that's a natural thing. I want you to ask any of you to imagine that you would limit construction in your own capital. It doesn't make sense. And I think that for us the important thing is that we are committed to our capital, we're committed to peace and we're going to build in Jerusalem for all its residents."

STORYLINE:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday explained his decision to push forward with plans to build 2,612 housing units in East Jerusalem, where the Palestinians hope to establish a capital, saying Israelis building in the Jewish capital is "a natural thing".
Netanyahu was referring to a planned settlement at Givat Hamatos while speaking ahead of a meeting with the Asia-Pacific ambassadors to Israel.
"All Israeli governments have built in Jerusalem, we're not going to change that," said Netanyahu.
He appealed to those present to "imagine that you would limit construction in your own capital."
"It doesn't make sense," he added.
Netanyahu announced the plans to build thousands of homes in settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem in response to the UN General Assembly's decision last month to upgrade the Palestinians' status to a non-member observer state.
The Palestinians are particularly concerned about the plans to build thousands of apartments in E-1 and Givat Hamatos, on Jerusalem's eastern and southern edges.
Critics say the settlements would cut off traditionally Arab east Jerusalem from the West Bank and destroy hopes of establishing a viable Palestinian state alongside Israel, with Jerusalem as a shared capital.
E-1 would also drive a deep wedge between the northern and southern West Bank.
Israel annexed east Jerusalem after capturing it 45 years ago, and claims the area as part of its capital.
While the annexation is not internationally recognised, Netanyahu has said he will never agree to divide the holy city.
Israel's recent announcements of new settlement construction came after prolonged conflicted between Israel and Palestine after the Israeli Defence Force killed a leading Hamas military official in response to weeks of rocket fire from Gaza.
Israel launched a campaign of airstrikes on Gaza and Hamas retaliated with further rocket attacks, some reaching as far as Tel Aviv and the areas surrounding Jerusalem.
The US has harshly criticised the construction plans, while the UN Security Council is expected to discuss them on Wednesday.

Thousands of Jordanian protesters and Palestinian refugees gathered near the Israeli borders on Friday to mark the forty-sixth anniversary of the occupation of the eastern part of Jerusalem.
The protest was organised by Global March to Jerusalem (GMJ), a group of international marchers setting out from the surrounding countries of Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.
The dispute over Jerusalem lies at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is the most sensitive issue in peace talks.
Israel says the entire city of Jerusalem is its undivided capital.
Palestinians want east Jerusalem - captured by Israel in the 1967 MidEast war and site of key Jewish, Muslim and Christian holy sites - as the capital of a future state.
Israel annexed the eastern part of the city after the 1967 war, and today, nearly 200-thousand Jewish Israelis live in east Jerusalem neighbourhoods.
The annexation is not internationally recognised.

A private Jewish group has taken over two buildings in largely Arab east Jerusalem, a move that might led to clashes with Palestinian residents of the area, local Arab residents said on Monday.
Elad, a non-profit organisation that buys up Arab properties in east Jerusalem and settles Jews in them, bought the two buildings "more than a few months ago", a member of the group's board of directors said.
Several Jewish families have moved in since last Wednesday, a day after the centrist Kadima Party won the Israeli elections.
Jewish organisations, often funded by wealthy American Jews, have bought up dozens of properties in Arab areas of Jerusalem, sparking rioting and generating animosity among the Palestinian residents of the disputed city.
Israel says all of Jerusalem is its capital, while Palestinians demand the eastern half of the city for the capital of a future state.
The fate of the city and its holy shrines has been one of the major obstacles in Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking efforts.
The two buildings most recently settled by Jews are on the Mount of Olives, about 100 metres (yards) from an ancient Jewish cemetery.
Security guards armed with assault rifles and walkie-talkies guard the three-story buildings.
Refusing to talk to the media, the Jewish men who live there sat chatting on Monday on the balcony, a metal gate at the entrance shut with a heavy padlock and chains.
Overlooking an Old City shrine holy to Jews and Muslims that is at the epicentre of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the new Jewish residents believe they are reviving biblical Jerusalem, which has been largely empty of Jews for hundreds of years.
Ali Abulhawa, lives next door to the new Israeli residents.
At 2 a.m. last Wednesday (2300GMT Tuesday), a group of Jews came to the neighbourhood with a suitcase full of dollars, he said.
They offered the Palestinian who owns the ground-floor apartment the money, but he refused to sell them his portion, Abulhawa said.
In general, the new neighbours do not bother Abulhawa.
There were some clashes when they first moved in, he said, but now the situation has basically returned to normal.
Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, whose Kadima Party won last week's parliamentary elections, has said he would be prepared to give up some east Jerusalem neighbourhoods under his plan to draw Israel's final borders.

Of course the Swedish draft was extreme, it was phrased in an extreme manner, and we welcome the fact that the responsible counties in the EU managed to balance the text."

"It is definitely something to build on, it's a good day for justice, it's a good day for feeling of justice, and for international legitimacy, for international law. It is not end of the road, it's an important station along the road. We definitely need to build on it, we need to continue to work with the international community, we need to continue, most importantly, on getting ready for the state, building our capacity for statehood, completing the task of institution building which is something worth taking very very seriously as Palestinians. In addition, of course, we definitely need to do everything possible to see reunification of our country."
6. Exterior of Palestinian Prime Minister's Office
STORYLINE:
An EU statement calling for Jerusalem to be the joint capital of Israel and a future Palestinian state received mixed reactions in Israel and the Palestinian territories on Tuesday.
Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said the statement by EU foreign ministers ignored the refusal by the Palestinians to return to the negotiation table, which he said was "the main obstacles for resuming peace negotiations."
Palestinians have said they will not return to moribund peace talks until all settlement is halted, including east Jerusalem, not just in the West Bank as proposed by the Israeli government.
All settlement of occupied territory - as both the West Bank and east Jerusalem are internationally regarded - is deemed illegal under international law.
In Ramallah, Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad welcomed the announcement, calling it "definitely something to build on."
"It is not end of the road, it's an important station along the road," he said.
European Union foreign ministers called on Tuesday for the resumption of talks between Israel and the Palestinians and urged them to make Jerusalem the shared capital of two nations.
Israel had strongly objected to an earlier Swedish draft resolution which explicitly stated that east Jerusalem - the disputed part of the holy city - should be the capital of a Palestinian state, and warned the move would damage the EU's ability to be a Mideast mediator.
EU foreign ministers dropped that reference from the resolution, but reiterated that the bloc would not recognise Israel's unilateral annexation of the eastern part of Jerusalem.
"The EU will not recognise any changes to the pre-1967 borders including with regard to Jerusalem, other than those agreed by the parties," said the ministerial statement.
It was referring to the Six Day war 42 years ago in which Israeli forces captured and occupied east Jerusalem and the West Bank from the Jordanian army.
"If there is to be a genuine peace, a way must be found (through negotiations) to resolve the status of Jerusalem as the future capital of two states," it said.
It also is the site of the Al Aqsa Mosque, the third-holiest site in Islam.
