Through The Wormhole Season 3 - Episode 09 (Will Eternity End)
Many religious traditions have predicted that our world will come to an apocalyptic end. Scientists agree that Earth can't last forever, but disagree on whether the universe and time itself can ever disappear. Some may hope for eternity, but the possibility of never-ending time has mind-bending implications for the present.

Oaxaca has woven itself into the fabric that makes up the inviting and heartbreakingly beautiful country that is Mexico. The state of Oaxaca is known for its art, cuisine, spiritual/religious traditions, and its mezcal. Mezcal is an ancient Mexican, agave based distilled alcoholic beverage. For centuries now, mezcal has been handcrafted by small-scale producers. A village can contain dozens of production houses, called fábricas or palenques, each using methods that have been passed down from generation to generation, some using the same techniques practiced 200 years ago. The simplicity of the practiced techniques i

*** Vat Purnima is being carried out in India. It's a tradition where married women fast, get together, tie threads around a banyan tree and offer prayers. All this is performed for the long life of their husbands. Karva Chauth is a similar, a one day Hindu festival where married women fast from sunrise to moonrise for the safety and longevity of their husbands. Are traditions like these sexist? ***

The 29th Annual Holocaust Memorial Program at Oregon State University is proud to present an all star panel discussion on the evolution of religious rights and their connection with and impact on human rights.

On the one hand, we have many historical and contemporary examples of the two projects working hand in hand, which we see in declarations of rights coupling freedom of thought, belief, conscience, and religion. Five Spanish traditions discovered by a foreigner while being a language assistant in Spain. The magic and spectacular images of festivals, parties and religious events can only be discovered while living in Spain. He highlights the Three Kings funny parade in Christmas time, the outstanding religious Easter processions, the fireworks and bonfires on San Juan’s Eve, San Fermin’s running of the bulls and the Correfocs (Fireruns) in which “devils” jump, dance and run surrounded by fireworks.

Today I have decided to talk about two important traditions in the whole world.
The first is The Ramadan.
The Ramadan is one of the most important traditions and holidays in the Islamic Religion.
The Ramadan is a religious celebration that takes place during de nineth month in the Arabic Lunar Calendar. In this celebration, the arabian people, whom are muslims (I have to say that not all the arabian people are muslims), have to do some sacrifices in honor to Ala

The simplicity of the practiced techniques in the mezcal industry can be done by almost any person from every walk of life, not matter their education. Oaxaca is the third poorest state in Mexico, being in that current economical standing point, it has become very difficult for not only the national government, but the state government to fund simple infrastructural projects. Although Oaxaca gets an extensive amount of rain during the wet season (early summer through late fall), the city does not have the structures or sanitation necessary to catch the water and use for domestic purposes and so this precious resource just becomes run off.
Water for Oaxaca is a non-profit, student led partnership. Our mission is to build a simple, yet great product that will aid the water situation of Oaxaca. Our product must be simple enough to be operated and maintained by anyone, but still has the functionality to purify water. In process of creating our product, our crew's mission is to recycle and reuse as much as possible and to also use materials that will not worsen the current environmental crisis. We will strive to use materials that can be easily improvised; we want our materials to be used in an abundance of ways after our product can no longer be used for it's soul purpose.

The 29th Annual Holocaust Memorial Program at Oregon State University is proud to present an all star panel discussion on the evolution of religious rights and their connection with and impact on human rights.
How has the promotion of religious rights figured into the larger effort to protect and advance human rights? Today’s distinguished panel explores this complicated question. On the one hand, we have many historical and contemporary examples of the two projects working hand in hand, which we see in declarations of rights coupling freedom of thought, belief, conscience, and religion. On the other hand, we have examples of religious freedoms for some being yoked to religious (and other) oppression for others.
Our panel explores the historical, philosophical, legal, and experiential dimensions of this question.
Dr. Stuart Sarbacker's (comparative religion; Indic religions and philosophical traditions) talk is focused on religious freedom in the context of Eastern faith traditions.

( Their God).
The most important thing, which muslims must do, during the whole month of this celebration is the fasting. Fasting means that They have to leave of eating during all the day. The fasting begins when with the sunrise and It finishes with the sunset, every day during the whole month. The tradition says that They do that to purify their souls. It is more than a religious celebration, a spiritual tradition, but It has to be celebrated for all the muslim people every year.
Well, the other Important celebration that I Chose for mi video which is not into the bibliografy sent by You. But in my own case, of being colombian I consider it a very important celebration, not only for all the colombian people, also for the whole world and It is the Barranquilla Carnival.
The Barranquilla Carnival is a social celebration that has its origen in 1888 when it was introduced by European culture. The Barranquilla carnival takes place during the last two weeks from february until the first days in March from every year.
The main objective from this Holidays is to continue with an ancient tradition using the dance, the theater, the music like cultural expresions from the people that is the best represention from our identity like Colombians in other parts of the world.
I consider that the two Holidays about I made reference are interesting for me because They represent the richness cultural from the people, their traditions, their differences respect to other cultures in the world.

Another candid, tangential, winding discussion that sort of picks up from where I left off with my "Side Effects of Being Human" video published prior to this one.
Topics discussed range from offering my support for those who are often depressed during the holidays for various reasons, the possible origins of religious traditions, my thoughts and views on the holidays and much more. Unfortunately I don't really hit on the main points of this video until more than half-way through as I went off-topic quite often after the reviews.
My modest beer reviews include Christmas Ale by Breckenridge Brewery and 2XMAS by Southern Tier Brewing Company.

Water for Oaxaca Project summary
Water for Oaxaca Project summary
WaterforOaxaca.Weebly.com
Oaxaca has woven itself into the fabric that makes up the inviting and heartbreakingly beautiful country that is Mexico. The state of Oaxaca is known for its art, cuisine, spiritual/religious traditions, and its mezcal. Mezcal is an ancient Mexican, agave based distilled alcoholic beverage. For centuries now, mezcal has been handcrafted by small-scale producers. A village can contain dozens of production houses, called fábricas or palenques, each using methods that have been passed down from generation to generation, some using the same techniques practiced 200 years ago.

Are traditions where women pray and fast for their husbands long life sexist? (Nihal, 3/6/15)
