The coelacanths constitute a now rare order of fish that includes two extant species in the genus Latimeria: the West Indian Ocean coelacanth (Latimeria chalumnae) and the Indonesian coelacanth (Latimeria menadoensis). They follow the oldest known living lineage of Sarcopterygii (lobe-finned fish and tetrapods), which means they are more closely related to lungfish, reptiles and mammals than to the common ray-finned fishes. They are found along the coastlines of the Indian Ocean and Indonesia.[1][2] Since there are only two species of coelacanth and both are threatened, it is the most endangered order of animals in the world. The West Indian Ocean coelacanth is a critically endangered species.

The song covers the California 7th grade standards on Earth & life history. The song and video are part of thesis I'm doing about the impact of music in science education as part of a Master of Science Communication at the University Otago in New Zealand (which began thanks to a Fulbright scholarship). Fossils (from Latin fossus, literally "having been dug up") are the preserved remains or traces of animals (also known as zoolites), plants, and other organisms from the remote past. The totality of fossils, both discovered and undiscovered, and their placement in fossiliferous (fossil-containing) rock formations and sedimentary layers (strata) is known as the fossil record.
The study of fossils across geological time, how they were formed, and the evolutionary relationships between taxa (phylogeny) are some of the most important functions of the science of paleontology. Such a preserved specimen is called a "fossil" if it is older than some minimum age, most often the arbitrary date of 10,000 years ago. Hence, fossils range in age from the youngest at the start of the Holocene Epoch to the oldest from the Archaean Eon, up to 3.4 billion years old. The observations that certain fossils were associated with certain rock strata led early geologists to recognize a geological timescale in the 19th century. The development of radiometric dating techniques in the early 20th century allowed geologists to determine the numerical or "absolute" age of the various strata and thereby the included fossils.

Rupam Islam (born 25 January 1974) is a playback singer, song writer, composer and the lead singer of the band Fossils. He is a recipient of National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. He won the award in 2010, for his work in the film Mahanagar @ Kolkata. Rupam has been selected to be a member of the Government of West Bengal's cultural committee for music (Bangla Sangeet Academy).
Born on 25 January 1974 in a family of musicians, Rupam’s musical journey started fairly early under the tutelage of his parents, renowned musicians of their time: late Nurul Islam and late Chhandita Islam. By the age of 4, he was performing on stage with his parents' choir group Jhankar Shilpi Goshthhi. By 9, he was an empanelled child artiste of Aakashvani and Doordarshan and had performed at all leading auditoriums of Kolkata.
Education went hand-in-hand with music, and he graduated from Asutosh College, an affiliated college of the University of Calcutta with honors in English literature. He completed his Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed) and joined Taki Boys Mulitipurpose School where he taught English to primary school students for eleven years before voluntarily retiring in 2006 to concentrate on his career in music.

Dinosaurs are so 65 million years ago. In the Fossil Fighters: Frontier game, you are tasked with collecting and battling alongside vivosaurs. These giant beasts are just as prehistoric as dinosaurs, but have a lot more bite! Explore and dig through a fully 3D world and battle your collected vivosaurs with friends, against them or on your own!

Putin vows 'extremely tough' action on Syria threats

President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian military to take "extremely tough" action against any threat to its forces in Syria. Any targets threatening its forces must be "immediately destroyed", he said. Mr Putin did not elaborate but Turkey and Russia are currently locked in a spat over the downing of a Russian jet by Ankara ... Mr Putin made the comments at a meeting of top defence officials. ....
