NEW YORK (AP) It took almost the whole game, but the Rockets finally took a lead and held it.
Trevor Ariza's tiebreaking 3-pointer with 1:14 left in overtime and Marcus Thornton's two free throws with less than a second left lifted Houston to a 116-111 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
James Harden led Houston with 26 points. Thornton and Clint Capela each had 18 and Ariza finished with 16.
Arron Afflalo had 31 points for the Knicks, who played without leading scorer Carmelo Anthony because of an illness. Kristaps Porzingis added 20 points and 13 rebounds.
The Rockets, after scoring the first four points of the game, didn't lead again until overtime.
"It was a lesson in perseverance," said interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff. "We got down, but we didn't give in. It is a credit to our guys' mental toughness and fortitude."
Langston Galloway and Jose Calderon each missed potential game-tying 3-pointers in the final minute of overtime.
"I think the shots we got at the end were good shots," Galloway said. "I thought I had a good look, but it was just a little short."
The Rockets erased a 14-point, fourth-quarter deficit and tied the game on Thornton's 3-pointer with 32 seconds left.
Lance Thomas missed a long jumper for the Knicks and Harden did the same for the Rockets and the game remained tied at 101 after regulation.
"We fought. It wasn't an easy game," Harden said. "Guys had confidence in their shots and knocked them down. "
Houston went ahead 108-103 in the extra session, with Dwight Howard slamming down a lob pass over Porzingis, but the Knicks tied it at 111 on Galloway's short jumper with 1:31 left before Ariza hit from behind the arc.
The Knicks led by 15 late in the first half and were still ahead 91-77 on Derrick Williams' 3-pointer with 8:04 left in the fourth quarter.
"The momentum of the game changed," Knicks coach Derek Fisher said. "NBA games are long and we had some untimely turnovers. They really started to attack us in transition and we couldn't stop that in the fourth quarter."
The Knicks committed 21 turnovers in the game, eight in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Howard added 14 points and Capela had 11 rebounds for the Rockets.
Thomas finished with 15 points, Kevin Seraphin had 14 and Williams added 12 for the Knicks.

WASHINGTON (AP) Just over eight months ago, Carmelo Anthony underwent surgery on his left knee. On Saturday night, in his third regular-season game since then, he had a terrific performance against the Washington Wizards.
Anthony scored 37 points to ruin the Wizards' home opener as the New York Knicks beat Washington 117-110.
"It felt good. It's been a while since February. I keep saying it, but it's been a while for me to kind of have this experience," Anthony said.
Anthony was 11 for 18 from the field - hitting eight straight shots at one point - and hit four of his five 3-point attempts.
"It was just one of them days that - even this morning at shootaround things were just feeling good. I worked out a little bit after shootaround, things felt good; before the game, things felt good. So it was just one of those days," Anthony said.
"I'm never surprised, but I'll take it. At this point, you build it, it'll come."
Washington failed in its attempt to start a season 3-0 for the first time since 2005-06.
Bradley Beal, who scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half, led Washington while John Wall had 25.
The Knicks (2-1) won their second road game of the season. They won a total of seven road games last season.
Anthony missed his first two field goal attempts - then hit the eight straight - including four 3-pointers - before his next miss.
After his first 3-pointer, he trotted over to Washington owner Ted Leonsis, who was seated near his team's bench, and the two bumped fists.
"He's just a good guy. I'm just showing my respect for him," Anthony said.
Otto Porter, who tried to defend Anthony, found it frustrating.
"It's all about his rhythm. Once he gets his rhythm, he's hard to defend," Porter said. "He's a different player this year."
"The commitment to defend is not there," Wizards coach Randy Wittman said. "I've got to change that."
The game was physical, featuring 62 fouls and three technicals. It was an extraordinarily long regular-season game, 2 hours, 38 minutes.
"The physical nature of the game - I thought that brought the best out of Melo," New York coach Derek Fisher said. "There was a composure and a poise to everything he did."
MOURNING SAUNDERS: Wittman was not on hand for the start of the game because he was attending the memorial service for longtime NBA coach Flip Saunders in Minnesota.
Wittman returned for the start of the second quarter. He said he didn't consider staying away.

NEW YORK (AP) The boos that thundered through Brooklyn in June have been replaced by a much sweeter sound at Madison Square Garden.
"Por-zing-is! Por-zing-is!"
Rookie Kristaps Porzingis scored a season-high 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and the New York Knicks beat the Charlotte Hornets 102-94 on Tuesday night.
Less than a week after he just missed beating the Hornets when his 3-pointer was ruled after the buzzer, Porzingis couldn't be denied by Charlotte defenders or the clock in the 20-year-old Latvian's biggest moment in the NBA.
"It's still a learning process for him but tonight was a big game, a big way to step up and take control of the game offensively, knock down shots, be aggressive out there, and I'm pretty sure it'll be the first of many," Knicks star Carmelo Anthony said.
Knicks fans weren't ready to embrace Porzingis on draft night, when boos rained through Barclays Center after the slender, 7-foot-3 forward was taken with the No. 4 pick. But they sure are ready now - maybe even quicker than the confident Porzingis imagined.
"Sooner or later, yeah. I wasn't expecting it to be right now," he said. "But with the hype and being in New York City, it happens that quick."
Anthony added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Knicks. Arron Afflalo scored 16.
Kemba Walker scored a season-high 31 points for the Hornets, but reigning Eastern Conference player of the week Nicolas Batum had only one basket and four points.
Batum averaged 25.5 points last week, and one of the Hornets' victories came when they edged the Knicks 95-93 after video review waved off Porzingis' apparent winner.
Porzingis made both 3s he attempted in this one and all seven free throws.
"He made two 3s I believe and he was on the offensive glass against us tonight. He played great," Hornets coach Steve Clifford said.
The Hornets charged back behind Walker, a New Yorker who's had plenty of big nights here in high school and while playing for Connecticut, cutting it to four as the Knicks' offense stalled down the stretch.
But Anthony blocked Batum's 3-point attempt and former Knicks star Jeremy Lin shot an airball on another before Porzingis grabbed a rebound and was fouled, hitting both free throws to make it 100-94 with 11.3 seconds left.
"We missed shots, but we got some good-looking shots," Walker said. "We got it down to four, but unfortunately they just didn't drop."

Lin finished with 13 points but Charlotte had its four-game winning streak over the Knicks snapped.

TORONTO (AP) While the New York Knicks credited Carmelo Anthony's leadership, the Toronto Raptors had questions about his foot - specifically whether it was out of bounds on a pivotal play in the game.
The referees instead called Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry for a foul on Lance Thomas, the recipient of Anthony's subsequent pass with the Knicks leading by one. Thomas converted both free throws with 17.2 seconds remaining and the Knicks held on to hand the Raptors their first home loss of the season, 111-109 on Tuesday night.
"When we came in we reviewed the play," crew chief Ed Malloy said afterward. "We did see Anthony step out of bounds and should have awarded the ball to Toronto."
Anthony scored 25 points to help the Knicks to their third road win in four attempts this season - after registering just seven such wins over the entirety of last season - and was in no mood to revisit the past.
"I don't want to see it, I'm getting out of here," he said. "Ain't no need for me to look back and watch it, it's over with. I don't even know if I did it. Probably, but we're getting out of here with the win."
While Raptors coach Dwane Casey said he saw the Knicks star step out of bounds with his own eyes, Toronto forward DeMar DeRozan, who scored a season-high 29 points in the loss, said the Raptors should still have pulled out the victory.
"All night there were a lot of things we were definitely frustrated about," he said. "We still had a chance to pull it out. I missed a free throw, and even though I missed a free throw we got the ball back and missed a layup. Just a combination of things."
Chief among them would have been Toronto's 23.5 percent shooting from beyond the 3-point arc, compared to New York's 47.8 percent conversion rate from the same distance, which accounted for 33 points. Thomas went 3 for 3 from 3-point range as part of the 17 points he added off the bench.
"He's another guy who adds value to what we are and he helped us win this game tonight," coach Derek Fisher said of the backup forward, while acknowledging that his team wasn't great on the night.
"We were fortunate to get out with the win giving up 60 points in the paint and fouling as much as we did; those are areas that we're really trying to improve in a major way."

Kristaps Porzingis Full Career Highlights vs Hornets - 29 Pts, 11 Reb, (2015.11.17) THE FUTURE!

The Charlotte Hornets have been outrebounded in five straight games.
No team exposed that weakness better than the New York Knicks did last week.
The Hornets managed to survive a big disparity on the boards to extend their win streak over the Knicks to four heading into Tuesday night's rematch at Madison Square Garden.
Charlotte (5-5) has seen its average rebound margin dip to minus-3.2 after being outrebounded by an average of 12.6 in a five-game stretch in which it is 3-2.
"We have to have everybody coming back to rebound," coach Steve Clifford said. "Everybody's gotta come back to rebound, so that way, it's our only chance. If you hit and block out, the other guys can't (rebound). We're just not doing that."
The Hornets overcame a 52-33 edge on the glass by the Knicks in last Wednesday's 95-93 home win. New York averages 15.5 second-chance points for one of the league's best marks, but was held to a season-low 10 that night.
Rookie Kristaps Porzingis had a season-high 15 rebounds in that contest, which will be remembered for his 3-pointer that was ruled to have come after the final buzzer. The Knicks stormed the court in celebration when he hit the shot.
Nicolas Batum scored a team-high 24 points in that game for Charlotte to start a three-game stretch in which he is averaging 28.3 on 57.4 percent shooting. He scored 33 - two off his career high - in Sunday's 106-94 home victory over Portland.
"Maybe," said Batum when asked whether this was his best career stretch. "My role is different right now and we're winning games. It's not like I'm playing great and we don't win."
The Frenchman had a huge effort in the wake of the attacks in Paris, and a countryman stepped up Sunday for the Knicks. Kevin Seraphin had 12 points in 14 minutes in a 95-87 win over New Orleans.
Seraphin is a little-used reserve who had not seen more than nine minutes of action for New York before he scored six points in nine minutes in the fourth quarter alone.
"He was ready," said Carmelo Anthony, who is averaging 26.6 points in his last five games. "He was a big part of our run that we made in the second half. To see him, and what he's dealing with emotionally and mentally, be prepared today when his number was called was big."
New York (5-6) is averaging 41.7 bench points for one of the league's best marks.
The Knicks limited Al Jefferson to four points on 2-of-10 shooting in the last meeting. That was part of a three-game stretch in which the Hornets big man totaled 19 points on 28.6 percent shooting before he scored 29 and made 13 of 17 shots versus the Trail Blazers.
"He's hard to guard 1-on-1, we know that," Hornets guard Jeremy Lin said. "Coach made it a priority in terms of talking about when and where to get him the ball."
Jeremy Lamb, averaging 13.3 points to rank among the league's best reserves, missed the Hornets' practice Monday with a shoulder injury.
Charlotte is seeking to win five straight over New York for the first time.

NEW YORK (AP) Derrick Williams scored 21 points and Carmelo Anthony added 18 to help the New York Knicks remain unbeaten in the preseason with a 94-88 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
Isaiah Canaan had 18 points and Christian Wood had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the 76ers. Wood is an undrafted rookie out of UNLV.
76ERS: Robert Covington finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
KNICKS: Langston Galloway finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
SIEDLINED: Joel Embiid, Pierre Jackson, Carl Landry, Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas and Tony Wroten all did not dress for Philadelphia. Arron Afflalo (sore left hamstring), Kristaps Porzingis (strained left quad) and Kevin Seraphin (sore right knee) all did not dress for New York.
KRISTAPS PORZINGIS ON THE MEND: New York hopes to have Porzingis back in the lineup on Friday.
"He strained his left quad similar to the quad injury he had in the summer in predraft, but just not as severe," Fisher said. "We're not nearly as concerned as we were at that time."
OKAFOR DRAWS STOUDEMIRE COMPARISON: Philadelphia head coach Brett Brown sees flashed of Amar'e Stoudemire in Jahlil Okafor's game.
"At times he reminds me of Amar'e who was a big spin guy and Jahlil likes that move," Brown said.
CHRISTIAN WOOD IMPRESSING 76ERS COACHING STAFF: Despite going undrafted this year, Wood has a chance to make Philadelphia's final roster.
"If you look at where he was projected to go prior to the season, he fell out toward the end of the year for whatever reason," Brown said. "They had projected him to be quite a high draft pick. I look at him and I see a bouncy, young athlete that can shoot. I think you have to look at something like that."
UP NEXT: The 76ers host the Wizards on Friday. The Knicks host the Celtics on Friday.

Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.
We try our best to cover all of the top attractions including fine arts, entertainment, festivals, dining, architecture and museums as well as focusing on lesser known off the beaten path attractions to cover all forms of tourism. If you only have time to visit only one city in the United States it ought to be NYC, USA:

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. You can ride roller coasters, stroll down the boardwalk, enjoy some beach time, and then head over the Nathan's Famous hot dogs. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. Strawberry Fields is a section of Central Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

New York, the Big Apple for the locals, is the largest city of the United States. Its most famous sight is the monumental Statue of Liberty, but there are the famous skyscrapers like the Empire State Building or the Rockefeller Center, while the twin towers of the World trade Center are sadly missed. Along the streets cabs hunt for customers. The lung of the city is Central Park, the paradise of joggers and dog owners. The Wall Street is the center of the world of money, while the Broadway is the same for Arts. Famous theatres, museums, the cafes and clubs of Greenwich Village and the renewed places of the old docks await the visitors here.

Here are some Things to do in NYC :) This 1st of a "Things to do in NYC" is the BASICS. I will do more in depth videos on neighborhoods like Harlem, Brooklyn, Lower East Side which will include shopping, entertainment, eating, all that :) But for now I hope you find this helpful and excited about exploring NYC. I didn't "forget" to list anything. This is just the first video and trust their are a million things to do. Sorry for not including Brooklyn. I rarely go out there and didn't have footage to include in this video. But here goes!
As for the things I listed check them out here:
Statue of Liberty, is located on Ellis Island. It's since been reopened
http://www.statuecruises.com/choose_tickets.aspx
Central Park is cliche and a MUST! Check out the Boat House this summer and rent a paddle boat for $12/hr. Cash only and a $20 deposit is required
http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.com
Magnolia Bakery has an amazing to die for Banana Pudding that used to be so secret which is now another MUST HAVE while in town
http://www.magnoliabakery.com
Katz Deli is a historical landmark that happens to be famous for their sandwiches. Try the pastrami if you're into that...I'm not :/ Yes this is a tourist destination but it's a part of NYC's history hence a MUST!
http://katzsdelicatessen.com
Patricia Field is a NYC fashion fixture! Made famous for her costume designing in The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and the City: the Movie and sequel, her boutique is another MUST. I love playing dressup here and splurging on accessories!
http://www.patriciafield.com
Need to get around? Rent a bike! I have yet to try this but it seems fabulous! Save your feet and cover more ground. These bikes and bike spots are all over the city. A perfect way to burn calories and see more of the city faster.
http://citibikenyc.com
Caracas! This happens to be a fav spot of mine! It's uber small and the lines can be long but I love the food. Yes it's fried and oh so good! I've never had an Arepa until I came here and the prices are perfect for us budget minded peeps Try it! just read their yelp reviews!

Summer in NYC isn't really summer until you get your butt on a rooftop. My pick was Jimmy Rooftop. Sunday's after 3pm are bomb! Amazing music courtesy of DJ Cato. I believe it is doorman discretion, which means, dress your best and don't travel with a bunch of dudes. You get an amazing view of the sun setting over the Hudson River and you get to splash around in the pool if you so choose. I chose this spot because I used to work here and loved it!

Yes! Go to Church! After you party it up Saturday night or Sunday afternoon bring your sinful behind to this awesome church! You don't have to be religious to attend. This is a non-denominal church and people from all over the world come here for the amazing sermons and not to mention the interior. This Church is a converted theatre and a must see. Now go and pray!
http://www.tscnyc.org
My spot! We in my hood now. You MUST go to Orange Beauty Supply! I used to buy all my hair products here when I had hair and you def need to buy a wig here. I take all my gurls here and hook them up with a fabulous synthetic or human hair wig just cause!
Apollo!!! You MUST go here on amateur night! It's historical! You either boo or cheer for the talent on stage. You must have an opinion! Quiet indifference is not tolerated :)
A real life YouTube comment board in live action! I've been here countless times and it's a great way to get the energy up!

Apollo!!! You MUST go here on amateur night! It's historical! You either boo or cheer for the talent on stage. You must have an opinion! Quiet indifference is not tolerated :)

New York is the most populous city in the United States and the center of the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world.
The most important places to visit in New York are: Brooklyn Bridge (built in 1883, it is one of the oldest suspension bridges in America and continues to inspire the people of New York City), Wall Street (the bull here makes everyone happy. See where billions are won or lost in seconds), Central Park (one of the world's greatest urban parks. Get involved in an outdoor activity or watch New Yorkers go about their exercise routines), Empire State Building (an American icon, which was built remarkably during the Great Depression. Ride to the top for unmatched city views), Times Square (best experienced at night. First time visitors are simply in awe amidst the bright neon lights), Statue of Liberty (this is one landmark you must visit. The ultimate symbol of New York City).
If you want to save time and money, the most important New York travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

I revisited New York for a week (but I actually lived there for 9 years.. and I know this: gife in New York City revolves around three things: time, speed and efficiency. In fact a lot of Manhattanites live by daily mental check lists and feel like they never have enough time to everything they want and need to do. Today I'm going to share with you my top 5 travel tips for surviving the Big Bad Apple (aka New York City).
1. Bring comfortable and practical shoes. Now I know a lot of you have probably watched Sex & the City and the women in that TV show always wear high heels. That's because they were taking taxi cabs everywhere. Unless you're taking taxi cabs everywhere , be prepared to walk. A lot. you'll be walking up and down stairs, you'll be taking the metro and the bus all around and you'll be walking blocks and blocks and BLOCKS! Being from Hawaii I was practically born in flip-flops and when I moved to New York, I realized they just didn't work there.
2. Don't stop in the middle of a busy sidewalk or at the entry of a subway station. I like to think of busy New York sidewalks as kind of like the pedestrian version of the German Autobahne. If you're going to stop on the sidewalk or when you emerge from the subway station pull off to the side so other people can pass you by. Simple as that.
3. It is a well-known belief that New Yorkers happen to be very impatient, therefore, next tip is if you're waiting in a checkout line, have your wallet ready when you get to the cash register. The last thing you want to do is wait until you get to the very front, have the cash register ring you up your purchase, tell you what it is and then you... open your bag to look for your wallet. You might not make the cashier or the people behind you very happy. Remember, good customer is not a requirement in New York city. It's an option.
4. Now a lot of people think that New York City is an expensive place to live as well as to visit. That can't be furthest from the truth. The two things that tend to be expensive in New York City are rent and a hotel room. Outside of that you'll find that Manhattan actually has a lot of free activities, like concerts in Central Park, or Shakespeare in the park. You have street markets and street vendors who sell things at a very discounted rate. You don't need to rent a car, you can always take public transportation. In fact, you can buy daily, weekly and monthly unlmited metro passes. If you love to eat, there's always hole-in-the-wall restaurants with good food, for cheap! Also if you love shopping, New York doesn't have sale tax on clothes.
Now last, where to find toilets. New York isn't really known for having a whole lot of public toilets and if it did, I don't know if you'd actually really want to use them. People can be dirty. But if you really had to go and were looking for a spot to go in, then my best suggestion is: Mc Donald, Starbucks, public museums as well as the New York public libraries. some parks migh have them but I wouldn't count on them. One handy app I have is Sit n Squat. It's downloadable for free by Charmin and it will help you locate the nearest toilet whether paid or free on your phone.

So nun aber eins nach dem anderen.
Ich selbst reise sehr gerne, und man kann auch sagen
sehr viel. Egal ob Privat oder Beruflich, ich bin mehrmals
pro Monat unterwegs.
Auto, Bahn, Flug, Hotel. Immer auf der Jagd nach Schnäppchen.
Denn ich will beim reisen sparen.
"Low Cost Weltenbummler" nennt.
http://promo.ag2014.16759.digistore24.com/
Wir hatten sofort einen sehr guten Draht zueinander, und arbeiten
schon fast 1 Jahr eng zusammen.
zittern!
Seit nunmehr 14 Jahren reist Ralf (fast) umsonst um die Welt.
Hier mal Beispiele ..
.. 10 Tage Mauritius im 5 Sterne mit Halbpension für 400 Euro
.. 1 Woche Mallorca im 4,5 Sterne Hotel mit All Inklusive für NULL Euro
.. 8 Wochen Mietwagen in den USA mir 4175 Dollar Rabatt
Glauben Sie nicht? Dann schauen Sie mal hier:
