Hudson River Brick Makers
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Hudson River valley was the world capital of brick making. Due to a variety of factors, the last Hudson River brick yard closed in 2002, ending three and a half centuries of brick making on the Hudson. Bricks are so common that they go unnoticed. This 1/2 hour documentary demonstrates that they are a prism by which we can examine diverse topics including technological innovation, urban planning, and immigration. "Hudson River Brick Makers also shows how the explosive building boom in New York City at the end of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries supported many brick making communities along the Hudson. THe film was directed by Jim Ormond for the Local History Channel and narrated by Ray Arrucci.

The 4th of July was here, and I decided to spend the day along the CSX River Line in the Hudson River Valley. The original plan was to head down to Peekskill in the evening to see their fireworks, but that plan ended up getting scrapped when my dad and I found that not only was there nowhere to park anywhere even remotely close to where the fireworks would be launched, but the park next to the river was pretty much filled to capacity, with everybody basically packed in like a can of sardines. I decided it wasn't worth the trouble, so we just started heading home. I was able to see plenty of fireworks being launched by various towns on the way, though.
1: CSX Q711 cruises past Mine Dock Road in Fort Montgomery with CW44AC 292, C40-8 7612, and CW44AC 106 on the point, pulling 65 cars.
2: Empire Service 284 runs along the edge of the river with P32AC-DM 707 leading the way, running 16 minutes late.
3: P32AC-DM 215 is on the point of Train 8831. Cab Car 6223 is at the end.
4: C40-8W 7339 and CW44AC 297 haul Q434 past Mine Dock Road with 112 cars in tow. This train would meet Q409 just north of the Mine Dock Park, which was waiting on the siding.
5: Q409 gets moving after letting Q434 pass, slowly picking up speed as it crosses Mine Dock Road. ES44AH 3174, C40-8 7607, and FURX GP38-2 5553 are on the point, hauling 94 cars.
6: Q710 glides through Milton with ES44AH 950, C40-8 7531, and CW44AH 5119 in charge, hauling 76 cars.

It's a bitter cold day and what do I do, I go and stand by the train tracks waiting for some trains to go. On January 9th, I made a trip out to the Hudson River Valley to catch some of the various trains that run along the banks of the river. I arrived kinda late in the day, but due to a snow storm, some of the normally morning trains got pushed back to the afternoon. I started the day at Iona Island, with a CSX autorack train with a few leasers tacked on coming through within minutes of being there, after a couple more trains, I moved up the river a little bit to Fort Montgomery with continuing success as two monster freights came through. After that, CSX traffic died down, and with the sun quickly disappearing, I moved across the river to Peekskill to catch some passenger trains with the sunset as a backdrop. And with the sun gone behind the mountains, I concluded an awesome day of railfanning. Locations are: Iona Island bird sanctuary, Bear Mountain NY, Mine Dock Rd Fort Montgomery NY, North Water St Peekskill NY.

Time Lapse - New Your City - Hudson River - Fast Clouds - Stock Footage

Snow Kiting From Poughkeepsie to Hudson, NY on the Hudson River
This is a video to document my snow kiting experiences in the beginning of March 2015 on the Hudson River. Because of cold conditions I was able to snow kite in four legs from Poughkeepsie to Hudson NY along the frozen Hudson River. With the right conditions snow kite touring on the frozen Hudson River offers real arctic adventure in the Hudson Valley.

2 - Wheel Rider #43 Hudson River Valley - Dyno Tuned Vaquero
Note: I referred to the old NY Central Rail Road's "west Shore" line erroneously - meant the Water Level route along the east bank of the Hudson and route 9D. Similarly, the tunnel I referred to as going under Sugarloaf was actually going through Breakneck Ridge.
The Vaquero received a dyno-tune to quell the decel popping. The result: significant power gains as well as better drive-ability and red

Dorrence Dance - Hudson Valley Dance Festival 2014
At the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, four members of Dorrance Dance treated the audience to an energizing tap number, excerpted from the company's recently premiered ETM: The Initial Approach. The tappers, each on their own wooden platform, became, as founder Michelle Dorrance described, "musicians with their bodies, head to toe." Pushing the boundaries of tap rhythmically, aesthetically and

Gallim Dance - Hudson Valley Dance Festival 2014
At the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, Gallim Dance showcased its vivid imagination and hyperkinetic physicality in Pupil Suite, choreographed by Artistic Director Andrea Miller, a 2014 Guggenheim Fellow. Eight Gallim dancers discovered their inner child as they frolicked, leapt and, in one section, even crawled across the stage on elbows and knees, in the humorous romp. Steeped in theatricalit

Paul Taylor Dance Company - Hudson Valley Dance Festival 2014
Closing the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, the venerable Paul Taylor Dance Company presented one of Taylor's best dances of the 21st century. Promethean Fire featured 16 dancers weaving themselves through intricate patterns, often doubling-back and twisting around each other in what some have called "building blocks in the human cathedral." The central duet, performed majestically by James Sam

KEIGWIN + COMPANY - Hudson Valley Dance Festival 2014
At the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, KEIGWIN + COMPANY presented an excerpt from one of founder Larry Keigwin’s signature dances, Mattress Suite. With a queen-size mattress as their prop, dancers Kile Hotchkiss and Emily Schoen explored the delight and despair of a couple's entanglements. Using the mattress as a wall, a springboard and a romantic escape for their remarkable pas de deux, Hotch

Four of the most sought-after world-class dance companies delighted a sold-out audience at the Historic Catskill Point on October 10, 2015, at the third annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival.
The evening in Catskill, NY, featured captivating performances by Brian Brooks Moving Company, The Chase Brock Experience, Jessica Lang Dance and Martha Graham Dance Company as they explored a range of human conditions from anger to harmony, from violence and terror to pure love and joy.
Performed in a converted 19th century warehouse on the banks of the Hudson River, Hudson Valley Dance Festival raised $125,555, setting a new record for the event.
Jessica Lang Dance opened the evening with a visually captivating Lines Cubed, a highly symmetrical piece inspired by the paintings of Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. Set on a stark white stage, Lang’s nine dancers - in colorful red, yellow, blue and black costumes that changed for each movement - explored the meaning of line and color through crisp, sharply coordinated geometric movements performed to changing electronic music.
Martha Graham Dance Company, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, presented Rust, created by renowned Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato. Rust illustrates the modern plagues of terrorism, torture and violence and the need to stir public awareness to their horrors. In the harrowing, demanding piece, an all-male quintet explored the viciousness and emotional heaviness of the theme set to the slashing music of composers Arvo Pärt and Pedro Alcalde.
Brian Brooks Moving Company showcased the athletic Torrent, a restaging for eight performers of a piece originally commissioned by Juilliard Dance and choreographed for 24. Set to Max Richter’s version of Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” the expansive, windswept piece found the dancers playing with lines and forms as they danced solo, in pairs, trios and as a company.
Closing the evening was The Chase Brock Experience, which carries the name of its founder known for his astonishing Broadway and independent dance choreography. The company premiered Splendor we only partially imagined, a zen, highly kinetic and colorful piece that shifted from a slower romantic pace to energetic tribal rhythms while finding joy and delight in every movement.
Following the performance, VIP ticket buyers joined the cast for a special reception at the Catskill Mill, a property stretching from Main Street to the Catskill Creek that is being renovated into a complex devoted to craftsmanship.
The money raised helps Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS provide grants to AIDS and family service organizations nationwide, including seven based in the Hudson Valley. The area organizations receiving grants in 2015 are Alliance for Positive Health in Albany, Animalkind in Hudson, Community Hospice in Catskill, Hudson Valley Community Services in Hawthorne, Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center in Kingston, Matthew 25 Food Pantry in Catskill, TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal) in Congers.

Engine - 6.2L SOHC 2-valve Flex Fuel V8 engine (F-250/350)
No other heavy-duty pickup delivers more standard gas horsepower and torque than the 6.2L V8 in the Ford Super Duty®.*
• Best-in-class standard gas 385 horsepower and 405 lb.-ft. of torque*
• Single-overhead-cam design and dual-equal variable cam timing — advanced features that help optimize power through the entire power range
• E85-capable: run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (85 percent ethanol, 15 percent gasoline), or any mix of the two
• For conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) or propane autogas, the CNG/Propane Gaseous Engine Prep Package is available for F-250 and F-350 models.**
• A Super Duty with the CNG/Propane package can be upgraded with aftermarket upfits to bi-fuel capability, enabling it to run on either unleaded gasoline or natural gas
Transmission - TorqShift® Heavy-Duty 6-speed SelectShift™ Automatic
The Ford 6-speed TorqShift® SelectShift® automatic transmission is engineered for high-torque performance and dependability. Big, strong gears can easily take on the heavy torque demands of either the standard 6.2L gas V8 or the available 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel. Fewer rpm are required because the torque converter locks up at lower speeds.
The available live-drive power takeoff (PTO) provision features split-shaft capability.* An output gear is connected directly to the engine crankshaft to power an aftermarket PTO anytime the engine is running, whether you’re in motion or at a stop, and lets you use applications like a salt spreader, tree-trimming equipment and many others. Split-shaft capability allows multiple accessories to be operated at the same time with the vehicle stopped.
Airbags — Safety Canopy® System with roll-fold side-curtain airbags
In addition to the driver- and passenger-side front airbags and front side-impact airbags, Super Duty® Chassis Cab provides the Safety Canopy® System with its state-of-the-art roll-fold technology.* All Chassis Cab models include six standard airbags.
Trailer Sway Control
Trailer sway control (TSC) builds on the AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™(RSC®) system to help maintain trailer control through selective braking and adjusted engine power.39 The result is noticeable stability and control, which provides greater driver confidence when towing large loads.

The beauty of the Hudson River Valley was a legendary subject for artists during the nineteenth century. They portrayed its bucolic settings and humans in harmony with nature as the physical manifestation of God’s work on earth. More than a hundred years later, those sentiments would be tested as never before. In the fall of 1962, Consolidated Edison of New York, the nation’s largest utility company, announced plans for the construction of a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant at Storm King Mountain on the Hudson River, forty miles north of New York City. Over the next eighteen years, their struggle against environmentalists would culminate in the abandonment of the project. Robert D. Lifset offers an original case history of this monumental event in environmental history, when a small group of concerned local residents initiated a landmark case of ecology versus energy production. He follows the progress of this struggle, as Con Ed won approvals and permits early on, but later lost ground to environmentalists who were able to raise questions about the potential damage to the habitat of Hudson River striped bass. Lifset uses the struggle over Storm King to examine how environmentalism changed during the 1960s and 1970s. He also views the financial challenges and increasingly frequent blackouts faced by Con Ed, along with the pressure to produce ever-larger quantities of energy. As Lifset demonstrates, the environmental cause was greatly empowered by the fact that through this struggle, for the first time, environmentalists were able to gain access to the federal courts. The environmental cause was also greatly advanced by adopting scientific evidence of ecological change, combined with mounting public awareness of the environmental consequences of energy production and consumption. These became major factors supporting the case against Con Ed, spawning a range of new local, regional, and national environmental organizations and bequeathing to the Hudson River Valley a vigilant and intense environmental awareness. A new balance of power emerged, and energy companies would now be held to higher standards that protected the environment.

Fast Moving time lapsed clouds going by over New York and Hudson River.
The Hudson River is a 315-mile (507 km) river that flows from north to south primarily through eastern New York in the United States. The river originates in the Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York, flows through the Hudson Valley, and eventually drains into the Atlantic Ocean, between New York City and Jersey City. The river serves as a political boundary between the states of New Jersey and New York, and further north between New York counties. The lower half of the river is a tidal estuary occupying the Hudson Fjord, which formed during the most recent period of North American glaciation, estimated at 26,000 to 13,300 years ago.[2] Tidal waters influence the Hudson's flow from as far north as Troy.

The result: significant power gains as well as better drive-ability and reduced popping. this ride was through some of the most beautiful areas anywhere, along the the Hudson River at Bear Mt, Breakneck Ridge, Sugerloaf Mt, and Storm King MT.

At the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, four members of Dorrance Dance treated the audience to an energizing tap number, excerpted from the company's recently premiered ETM: The Initial Approach. The tappers, each on their own wooden platform, became, as founder Michelle Dorrance described, "musicians with their bodies, head to toe." Pushing the boundaries of tap rhythmically, aesthetically and conceptually, Dorrance showed why The New York Times called her "the brightest choreographer in tap today."
Transforming the 19th century warehouse on the banks of the Hudson River into a one-of-a-kind performance space, Hudson Valley Dance Festival raised $121,125. The evening featured memorable performances by Dorrance Dance, Gallim Dance, KEIGWIN + COMPANY, Paul Taylor Dance Company and Pontus Lidberg Dance.
The money raised at Hudson Valley Dance Festival will help Broadway Cares provide grants to several AIDS and family service organizations based in the Hudson Valley. Among the area organizations awarded grants in 2014 were AIDS Council of Northeastern New York, TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal), Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, Animalkind and Matthew 25 Food Pantry.

Steeped in theatricality, the dancers used every muscle – from exaggerated facial expressions to subtlest of finger movements – to engage the enthralled audience.

Closing the 2014 Hudson Valley Dance Festival, the venerable Paul Taylor Dance Company presented one of Taylor's best dances of the 21st century. Promethean Fire featured 16 dancers weaving themselves through intricate patterns, often doubling-back and twisting around each other in what some have called "building blocks in the human cathedral." The central duet, performed majestically by James Samson and Parisa Khobdeh, ultimately rose to deliver the piece's message of inspiration and renewal.

Using the mattress as a wall, a springboard and a romantic escape for their remarkable pas de deux, Hotchkiss and Schoen deftly leaped and embraced through the reality of a couple's ultimate inability to connect.

The Hudson River valley has been a place of contradictions since its first settlement by Europeans. Explored by an Englishman who claimed it for the Dutch, the region soon became home to the most vibrant trading outpost for the New World colonies – the island of Manhattan – even as the rest of the valley retained the native beauty that would inspire artists from James Fenimore Cooper to Thomas Cole.
Join author Vernon Benjamin in an examination of the sense of place of Greenwich Village in its relationship to the Hudson Valley historically, including land uses and political, cultural and aesthetic ties, focused on individuals and groups associated with both areas from the DeLanceys and Bayards through William James, artists, and Native and immigrant populations.
We’ll explore the Native American footprints, the Village as a retreat from epidemics in the “city” proper, the rise of its fashionable identity, the bohemian or artistic communities that developed, and a continuing history of Greenwich Village as a desirable and stylish adjunct to the city proper.

"The British army's summer push down the Hudson River Valley seemed
unstoppable - but their supply lines were thinly stretched."
STOP THE BRITISH ADVANCE TO ALBANY
PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:
DESTROY 3 BRITISH FORT WAGONS
Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs is the first official expansion pack for the real-time strategy game Age of Empires III.
Act 1: Fire
Nathaniel Black (loosely based on Joseph Louis Cook) and his uncle Kanyenke are trying to discourage the Mohawk and the Seneca from fighting in the American Revolutionary War. However, they are ambushed by a group of Mohawks and head to an Oneida village nearby. From there they counter-attack and destroy an enemy Town Center, thus causing their enemies to flee. When Nathaniel and Kanyenke return to their village, they find that the Mohawk and a group of Hessian mercenaries led by Colonel Sven Kuechler, have raided the village and captured Nathaniel's mother, Nonahkee. They rescue Nonahkee, but Kuechler and his main army escape. After this, the Iroquois Confederacy shatters. Nathaniel's village supports the colonists, and Nathaniel heads to Boston where his men help defend a redoubt on Breed's Hill from the British. After George Washington takes command a series of defeats drives the colonials back across the Delaware, where they are joined by Nathaniel. Here Washington leads a small force, including Nathaniel, across the Delaware where they attack a Hessian encampment at Trenton and defeat the rearguard of the army at Princeton. This is followed by another victory at the Battles of Saratoga. However, the army is once again defeated at Brandywine and Germantown and is forced to camp for the winter at Valley Forge, where they suffer greatly from the cold. This leads Nathaniel to use most of his family's fortune to supply the army throughout the winter. The next scenario is the fictional battle of Morristown, where Nathaniel gets his chance for revenge on Kuechler, who leads an attempt to destroy the capitol building of Morristown. Using artillery shipments he receives from Washington, Nathaniel sneaks around the Hessian flank and relieves Morristown. Refusing to accept defeat, Kuechler joins the fight with Nathaniel and is killed. After Kuechler's death, Nathaniel is said to have fought at Charleston, Camden, and King's Mountain. As the tide begins to turn the French join the war and help the revolution gain a victory at Yorktown, where Nathaniel is instrumental in capturing several redoubts. With the revolution won, Nathaniel returns home a poor man having spent his family fortune on the outfitting his volunteers and supplying the troops at Valley Forge. During the epilogue video of the campaign (where Nathaniel is at Yorktown), the "Old Coot" from Act 1 in the previous game (Morgan Black), can be seen watching his great-grandson's victory.
