Harmonix has given us an exciting briefing on its blog detailing a big update for Rock Band 4, as well as its plans for future improvements and additions. December 8 will see a host of minor improvements; there are various bug fixes, as well as some calibration improvements that will require you to recalibrate as soon as as the update is finished. For serious players there are some new features that will offer some competitive gratification. You’ll now have an activity feed that shows you whenever you top a friend’s high score for a certain song, and you can send along a little taunt just to let them know that you rock harder than they do. Full combos (finishing a song without missing a note / with no extra strums) will also now be recorded and celebrated which has never been done before, despite the challenge.
More casual players have been asking for an auto-kick function when playing the drum kit, allowing you to focus on hitting the correct drum pads without worrying about that pesky pedal. Some people just lack that limb independence and Harmonix wants y’all to have fun, too. The update will contain some other little features, as well as a new gameplay mode that Harmonix will reveal a little bit closer to the time of the update. For a full list of fixes and additions you can check out the blog post here.
