CNN is set to host the first Democratic presidential primary debate tonight, October 13, from the Wynn Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. There will be no “undercard” debate like the GOP has has for both of their debates; as there are only five candidates eligible for tonight’s event, the sole grouping of candidates will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. ET. The event is also presented by Facebook.
The live audience of about 1,500 people will watch as Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley, Jim Webb, and Lincoln Chafee take the stage.
The Democratic debate will be hosted by 360 host Anderson Cooper, who will be joined by Don Lemon asking questions that have been chosen through Facebook. Additionally, CNN will also feature Dana Bash and Juan Carlos Lopez as well.
Cooper will begin his coverage at 8:00 p.m. ET and the debate will run from 8-11 p.m. ET. Beginning at 11 p.m., Cooper will host a post-debate Special edition of 360 at 11 p.m. ET.
Mediaite will be covering the debate as it happens live tonight. Find out how to watch the show live online for free here.

The Republican Party platform is staunchly against progressive policies aimed at protecting women’s freedoms. They’ve voted against abortion rights, equal pay, and birth control access (to name a few.) All of these protections under the law are intended to give women equal rights…so does that mean republicans just kinda hate women? And where do so-called “family values” come into play?

When it comes to getting money out of politics, the American people are more united than on perhaps any other issue. Cenk Uygur, John Iadarola (Think Tank), Ben Mankiewicz (Turner Classic Movies), and Jimmy Dore, (The Jimmy Dore Show Podcast), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"A recent Bloomberg poll showing 78 percent of Americans in favor of overturning the Supreme Court's 2010 Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ruling received no coverage on national nightly news programs for ABC, CBS, NBC or PBS, nor Sunday morning political talk shows on ABC, FOX, or NBC. The court decision is once again having an enormous impact on the presidential election, with hundreds of millions of dollars expected to be raised and funneled into political super PACs through 2016.
Bloomberg Finds Overwhelming Majority Of Americans Polled Disapprove Of Citizens United Ruling
Bloomberg Poll: "78 Percent Of Those Responding Said The Citizens United Ruling Should Be Overturned." According to a September 28 article by Bloomberg Politics, a new national poll found that "78 percent of those responding said the Citizens United ruling should be overturned.””*

WTF? American exceptionalism?

And now 'The Donald' is thinking of running for president. There is no hope left, if America gets a Republican president the world is 'sunk.'

Republicans have weighed in on who they believe should be the next Speaker of the House. Their suggestions are just as bad as you would expect them to be. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian (The Point), hosts of the The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
"Presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) floated his pick for the next House speaker while campaigning in Sioux City, Iowa: Mark Levin, the conservative talk radio host who worked for the Reagan White House.
"I think the next speaker should be Mark Levin,” Cruz said at a rally Western Iowa Community College on Monday, according to a report by Iowa newspaper Quad-City Times.
The House speaker race is in disarray after House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)dropped out of the race on Thursday. Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL) and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) are still in the running as more Republicans are voicing support for Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the high-profile chairman of the Ways and Means Committee. Ryan has repeatedly said he doesn't want the position.
Levin said Tuesday doesn't want the position either.”*

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson was viewed less favorably by a significant portion of Republicans after his claim to have been offered a scholarship to West Point was disputed, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
But in one positive sign for the neurosurgeon turned top-tier candidate, a majority of those polled said the controversy did not affect their view of him.
After hearing the report questioning Carson's recollections about the scholarship, 39 percent of Republicans said they had a less favorable view of him, with 26 percent saying it was “somewhat” less favorable and 13 percent saying it was “much” less favorable.
The majority of Republicans polled, 51 percent, said the issue made no difference and an additional 10 percent said it gave them a more favorable view.
Donald Trump, the front-runner in the Republican race, has taken an aggressive stance in attacking Carson, who now rivals him for the lead in several polls. Trump has pointed to the West Point story as problematic for Carson and said he is not sure Carson has been honest about his past.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll also found that it caused concern among those who identify as independent. Among independents, 19 percent had a somewhat less favorable view of Carson and 17 percent had a much less favorable view.
The online poll had a 6 percent credibility interval for Republicans and 10 percentage points for independents. It was conducted between Nov. 9 and Nov. 11.
Carson, who has topped a few recent national polls of Republican presidential candidates and is holding onto second place in the Reuters/Ipsos poll, has been the subject of intense scrutiny in recent weeks. Parts of his biography were called into question by publications that sought to verify stories in his 1990 autobiography “Gifted Hands.”
In the book, Carson detailed having received a “full scholarship” to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. His campaign later said while he never applied or was accepted, he had been told by leadership in the ROTC program that he would have been accepted had he applied. West Point provides education and housing to all students for free.
Carson has pushed back against efforts by the media to discredit his biography. He has accused the press of lying about his past.
But the West Point story is not the only one that has surfaced. CNN published a report questioning Carson’s account of violent episodes in his youth. A Wall Street Journal report questioned two additional stories, including one in which he helped hide white students during riots at his high school and another in which he was deemed the most “honest” student in a Yale course after taking a fake exam.
Questions also were raised on Thursday about Carson's relationship with a Pittsburgh dentist who was convicted of felony healthcare fraud. Carson, calling the dentist his "very best friend" asked the judge to be lenient in sentencing him.

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson shrugged off an angry rant from rival Donald Trump on Friday after the bombastic billionaire tested the patience of the party's base by saying Carson had pathological tendencies similar to a child molester.
The fallout from Trump's nasty broadside reverberated in Orlando where Trump and Carson, the two front-runners, were among a host of candidates speaking at the Florida Republican Party's Sunshine Summit.
“I expect that kind of thing," Carson said in Greenville, S.C., when asked about Trump's comments. "That's what's been going on in our country for years... and I don't expect it to change any time soon but I don't have to get into it.”
The day-long speechfest also put on display the increasing tensions between two up-and-coming challengers for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz, who clashed on Thursday over immigration.
Cruz, of Texas, had blasted Rubio, of Florida, as favoring amnesty for illegal immigrants by sponsoring a 2013 legislative effort in the Senate.
Speaking to reporters in Orlando, Rubio said Cruz had supported a legal pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants and promoted an amendment to that effect, and now claims he did not.
"He bragged about how his amendment would bring people out of the shadows," Rubio said. "He's changed his position. He has a right to change his position."Rubio and Cruz were among the candidates appearing in Orlando, along with three other candidates: Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
Trump, frustrated that Carson has stolen the lead from him in polls of Iowa Republicans, launched a diatribe against the retired neurosurgeon at a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Thursday night. Iowa will hold the first nominating contest on Feb. 1 on the road to the November 2016 election.
Trump said Carson has a "pathological" temper, alluding to compulsive behavior similar to that of a child molester.
"If you're pathological, there's no cure for that," Trump said. "If you're a child molester, there's no cure. They can't stop you."
At one point, Trump flipped his belt buckle over to try to cast doubt on a frequently cited anecdote from Carson, that he tried to stab someone as a child but the person's belt buckle prevented injury. Carson says the incident helped turn him to the Christian faith.
"Give me a break," Trump said. "How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe that crap?"
While Trump has made a number of outlandish statements with no penalty from Republican voters, turning on Carson in such a bitter way could mark a turning point for the New York mogul whose take-charge attitude has kept him at the top of the polls for months.
Trump kept up the attention on Carson's past with an Instagram video showing TV footage of Carson talking about the knife incident. Words on the screen say: "Violent criminal? Or pathological liar? We don't need either as president."
Carson refused to respond in kind, in keeping with his generally laid-back manner.
"It's up to the people of Iowa and they will decide if they want to listen to the usual politics...or if they want to do something different," he said.
Rubio, asked about Trump's comments about Iowa, said Iowa voters are "some of the nicest" people in the country. Another Republican candidate, Carly Fiorina, sounded off on Facebook about Trump's comments early on Friday.
"Anyone can turn a multi-million dollar inheritance into more money, but all the money in the world won't make you as smart as Ben Carson," she said.

Carly Fiorina
For the second debate in a row, Fiorina was once again the breakout star of the night, taking on Republican front-runner Donald Trump with finesse and capturing the crowd with polished, zinging answers and an impassioned charge against abortion.
Fiorina earned perhaps the biggest applause of the night as she skewered Planned Parenthood.
Fiorina dodged an early opportunity to hit Trump but didn't make that mistake again when she was asked to address the businessman's recent comments about her appearance to Rolling Stone, in which he suggested her face would make her unelectable.
Fiorina takes on Trump
New York journalist and CNN contributor Errol Louis said after the debate that Fiorina was "the clearest winner."
Marco Rubio
Rubio proved Wednesday night why so many GOP elites have long considered him a top contender for the Republican nomination: He can weave his strong handle of policy with a compelling personal narrative.
Rubio took on Trump differently than Fiorina or Bush, dispatching the front-runner without attacking him directly, instead steering the debate toward his strengths.
When Trump pointed out Rubio's voting absences in the Senate, Rubio refused to retort with an attack of his own.
Jeb Bush
"You know what? As it relates to my brother, there's one thing I know for sure. He kept us safe," Bush told Trump to one of his strongest applause moments of the night. "You remember the fire fighter with his arms around it? He sent a clear signal that the United States would be strong and fight Islamic terrorism, and he did keep us safe."
And he also successfully tackled Trump over the billionaire's suggestion that Bush's Mexican-American wife was the reason for his support for comprehensive immigration reform.
"To subject my wife into the middle of a raucous political conversation was completely inappropriate, and I hope you apologize for that, Donald," Bush said. "Why don't you apologize to her right now." Trump declined.
Chris Christie
"While I'm as entertained as anyone by this personal back-and-forth about the history of Donald and Carly's career, for the 55-year-old construction worker out in that audience tonight who doesn't have a job, who can't fund his child's education, I've got to tell you the truth. They could care less about your careers, they care about theirs," Christie said. "Let's start talking about that on this stage and stop playing -- and stop playing the games."
Earlier in the night, Christie suggested the problem with the debate was "we're fighting with each other up here" over how to approach defunding Planned Parenthood even though "we agree."

Donald Trump
Trump stumbled in responding to Fiorina's deft answer to his comments about her face, awkwardly calling her "beautiful" after suggesting her looks would keep Americans from voting for her.
Former Bush aide and CNN political commentator Ana Navarro spoke highly of the move.
And when Bush attacked him for a "lack of judgment" and "lack of understanding about how the world works," Trump resorted to an oft-used tactic of tying Bush to his brother's presidency suggesting that "your brother's administration gave us Barack Obama because it was such a disaster ... that Abraham Lincoln couldn't have been elected."
Bush's quick answer -- that his brother kept the country safe -- knocked Trump off balance as the crowd roared in approval.
And as he faced questions over foreign policy and his flubbed response to conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who was one of the debate's questioners, Trump smartly pivoted to Hewitt, insulating himself from further attacks from his rivals.
Conservative analyst Mercedes Schlapp said Trump was silent for more than 30 minutes of discussion n serious policy issues.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The Republican Party's jam-packed presidential class faces off Monday night in New Hampshire, where more than a dozen White House hopefuls aim to warm up for the first full-fledged debate of the primary season.
The forum will bring together almost all of the 17 major Republican candidates for president for a debate-lite event, which unlike Thursday's nationally televised debate in Cleveland doesn't have a cut-off for participation.
"It's a great event because it has all the candidates on stage at the same time," said Steve Duprey, New Hampshire's representative to the Republican National Committee. "It treats all candidates equally."
In all, 14 Republican presidential candidates are scheduled to participate, a group that includes seven current or former governors, four senators, a businesswoman, a retired neurosurgeon and one former senator.
Billionaire businessman Donald Trump, who has dominated the GOP primary in recent weeks, is among the three major candidates who decided not to join.
The event will be broadcast live on C-SPAN and local television stations in Iowa and South Carolina — states that, along with New Hampshire, will host the first three contests in the presidential primary calendar next February.
Trump declined to attend the New Hampshire event, citing criticism from the local newspaper host, yet he is expected to play a prominent role in Thursday's formal debate, where only the GOP's top 10 candidates — as determined by national polls — will be allowed on stage.
The New Hampshire meeting comes amid new movement on politically charged issues.
Just hours before the 7 p.m. forum begins, the Senate is scheduled to vote on a GOP-backed bill to strip funding from Planned Parenthood, reviving a debate on social issues that some Republican officials hoped to avoid in 2016.
Three of the four senators participating in Monday's event — Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky — will do so via satellite from C-SPAN's Washington studio, so they don't miss the high-profile vote.
Also on Monday, President Barack Obama unveiled new emissions limits on power plants designed to address climate change, an issue that energizes conservatives and liberals alike.
The candidates will appear on stage one at a time Monday night, answering several questions each from local radio host Jack Heath. The questions are based on submissions from newspaper readers in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina. Immigration and the economy emerged as the most popular topics in the reader submitted questions, said Trent Spiner, executive editor of the New Hampshire Union Leader.
As the candidates take turns on stage, their rivals will sit side-by-side in the audience. The format is different than the various forums the candidates have attended this year, when they give individual speeches and leave to speak to the press or greet voters instead of watching each other.
Spiner said the speaking order will be determined randomly.
Fourteen ping pong balls adorned with each candidate's face will be drawn from a jar one at a time to set the order. After the initial round of questions, all the candidates will return to the stage for several more specific questions, giving them a chance to distinguish themselves from the rest of the field, Spiner said.
A camera will be fixed on the line of candidates in the front row, offering viewers a chance to see how they are reacting to their opponents' messages.
Those on the bubble include South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, former technology executive Carly Fiorina, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Slavoj Zizek examines the right & left in american Politics.
The left-right political spectrum is a system of classifying political positions, ideologies and parties. Left-wing politics and right-wing politics are often presented as opposed, although a particular individual or group may take a left-wing stance on one matter and a right-wing stance on another. In France, where the terms originated, the Left has been called "the party of movement" and the Right "the party of order." The intermediate stance is called centrism and a person with such a position is a moderate.
There is general agreement that the Left includes: progressives, communists, social-liberals, greens, social-democrats, socialists, democratic-socialists, left-libertarians, secularists, feminists, autonomists, anti-imperialists, anti-capitalists, and anarchists.

Cenk hosting. The Pope spoke to Congress today and Cenk admits he kind of loves him. Reading through some of his progressive stances that clearly line up with Catholic belief. After the speech, the Pope greeted the huge crowd from a balcony and while standing next to him, Boehner couldn’t hold back tears. Video of this crying session as well as one moment where Marco Rubio appeared to be crying during the speech. Cenk doesn’t believe Rubio was crying when the subject was on immigrants. Just late last year, Rubio criticized the Pope for his stance on America working toward an agreement with Cuba. One Republican Congressman refused to attend the Pope’s appearance, claiming that since he’s acting like a Leftist politician, he’ll treat him like one.
Ana joins Cenk for SCS. After Kanye West mentioned that he wanted to run for president one day, Vanity Fair followed up on that assertion in a new interview. He pointed out that he’s really going to do it and needs to do his research in the next 5 years. He also said that Ben Carson is a brilliant guy, which prompted Cenk to determine that Kanye isn’t very bright. A young Mexican girl fought through adoring crowds to get a note to the Pope during his visit. Her letter detailed her concerns over deportation of her parents even though she’s an American citizen. Cenk can’t get over how this girl didn’t write this sophisticated letter. Former UFC fighter David Abbott is challenging Ronda Rousey to a match.

Earlier this year, VICE News filmed with a republican youth movement in Ireland called Na Fianna Éireann (“Warriors of Ireland” in English), a small group of around 30 boys considered to be hardline dissidents. They support a violent IRA splinter group known as the Continuity IRA, and believe that a renewed armed struggle is needed to free Ireland from British occupation in the North.
Considered “junior terrorists” by some, the Na Fianna sees itself simply as Ireland’s true republican boy scouts, training with the main aim of being ready for a new resistance — a fight that they believe is inevitable.
VICE News followed Na Fianna members as they carried out "bush training" in the mountains, and attended their Easter Rising march through Dublin, to get an idea of what the young face of dissident republicanism looks like, in an age where support for political violence in Ireland has all but ended.

Our favorite economic and trends analyst in the world, Gerald Celente from the Trends Journal returns to SGT Report to discuss the current state of affairs in the United States and beyond. SGT Report contributor Mark S. Mann also joins in on the conversation.
As for our elected "representatives", the Republicans and Democrats, Gerald says, "They're murderers and thieves. They murder millions of people in the name of bringing 'freedom and democracy' to a country near you, and steal our money in the name of too big to fail bailouts, loan guarantees, special tax breaks and other dirty deals - and the people KNOW IT."
As we dive deeper into the interview, Mark asks Gerald about Benjamin Netanyahu's recent speech in front of the US Congress and the $6 BILLION in "aid" the US government gives to Israel annually, Gerald explains that Israel is a nuclear power and an apartheid state - and sounding a lot like Dr. Ron Paul, Celente explains, "I'm against giving money to Israel as I am against giving it to any other country. This country is rotting in front of us. The infrastructure stinks. The country's going downhill. I don't want my money going to Israel, to Italy, to Ireland, I don't want it going any where. And when you talk about Israel, the people try to attack you with this cheap BS line of 'anti-Semitism,'. Let's get this straight: Israel's a country, it's not a religion."
Buckle up as we spend the next half-hour with the number one trend's forecaster in the world.

The republican race for the 2016 presidential election has been full of extreme rhetoric from Donald Trump & Ben Carson, but have the outlandish characters of the GOP and the polarizing political speech gone too far to give America leadership? Republican thinker David Spencer discusses how polarization from the right and left, Citizens United, growing Asian & Latino demographics, and the economy have complicated the election. Is Republican stubbornness could be killing the party in the long run, and what Bernie Sanders means for the GOP is weighed in this uncensored Media Mayhem interview, hosted by Allison Hope Weiner.
GUEST BIO:
Dave Spencer’s journey towards practical politics was shaped by his background and a critical turning point in his life. Born in New York as a member of the Rockefeller family, he grew up around a culture of political interest and involvement and being part of a family that is one of the pillars of philanthropic giving in America. But a devastating car accident at age 19 cost Dave a leg and the use of an arm. This life-changing injury required a physical, mental and emotional adjustment to deal with the realities of his disability, while also leading him to pursue a positive, pragmatic approach to seeing the world.
As part of his healing journey, Dave began sharing his experiences with others as a volunteer motivational speaker for amputees and trauma victims at medical facilities throughout the Bay Area. He broadened that outreach during six years of work for the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, with a focus on children and community service. Working with young people inspired Dave to found BayKids, a nonprofit organization that serves children through self-empowerment programs. After earning an MBA at Stanford, he created a wellness center in San Francisco located in The Presidio National Park. Dave’s passion for politics led him to become a member of the Executive Committee of the California Republican Party.

On this Wednesday, November 5th edition of the Alex Jones Show, Alex runs down the results of the November 4th midterm election as Republicans take over the Senate and expand their majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans have vowed to dismantle aspects of the Obama agenda, primarily his disastrous health care fiasco, and confront his imperial presidency. Former Rep. Ron Paul warns Republican gains will result in expanded war in Syria and Iraq. The esteemed former congressman also points out the two party system is in fact a monopoly locking out outsiders and dominating the political landscape in America. Others predict the election foretells the extinction of the two party system and the final chapter of the hegemony of a dinosaur political class.
