Jim Jum: Thai Hot Pot. Traditional Thai hot pot served in a clay pot over a bed of hot coals. The pot contains a delicious broth, made from soup stock, cilantro, lemongrass, kaffir lime, chili, galangal and Thai onion. It tastes a little like tom yum soup. Tasty morsels of seafood, meat and vegetables are dropped into the broth and it’s served with tasty dipping sauces. Jim jum is very popular in Thailand and it’s one of my favourite Thai foods. Jim jum is a really sociable way to eat, you can relax with your friends, cooking and eating while you chat. You can usually buy mixed platters of food to add to the jim jum, or individual plates of food. Some of the ingredients include morning glory, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, Thai holy basil, thinly sliced meats (such as pork, chicken, beef and liver), eggs, and glass noodles. It is really delicious and well worth trying when you travel Thailand.
