The local arm of Transparency International, the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), has encouraged investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to release his latest corruption exposé following reports that there is pressure on him not to show the video.
Anas Aremeyaw Anas in a yet-to-be-released video filmed more than 30 judges and about 100 court officials taking bribes.
Some of the indicted judges have tendered in their resignation letters and also handed over official vehicles in a bid to avoid the imminent embarrassment, but the judicial council has reportedly rejected their letters.
Others are also reported to be making attempts to secure an injunction to stop the documentary from being aired.
The journalist has come under intense pressure since the news broke, from high-profile personalities to convince him to abandon the move to expose the rot in the country’s judiciary.
However, the Executive Director of the GII in an interview with Citi News urged Anas to go ahead with the public showing of the video.
“Anas did the investigations with a purpose, and he spent money doing it. He does not need to ask us whether he should release it or not. If it is not released, will he achieve the aims of the investigation? So Anas should be able to take a decision to release it. In any case, one of the tools of fighting corruption is naming and shaming so there should be nothing wrong with releasing it.”
Mr. Azeem said attempts by influential persons in society to cover up their ills hamper the fight against corruption.
“If it is released, it will put pressure on the authorities to act promptly on it. In any case, part of the information is already out there and some names have already been mentioned out there so why don’t we put them in the public domain so that the people can defend themselves?”
Meanwhile, reports in some quarters of the media say the Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, is initiating disciplinary action against the implicated judges.
The Judicial Council will be investigating the judges at the lower courts while those in the High Courts will require the President to instruct the Chief Justice to set up a committee to look into the conduct of the judges.
The two-year investigative piece titled ‘Ghana in the Eyes of God – Epic of Injustice,’ is set to premiere at the Accra International Conference Centre on September 22.

For Years Scientists have done extensive research into the mixing of genes or cells from different species, e.g. adding human (and other animal) genes to bacteria and farm animals to mass-produce insulin and spider silk proteins, and introducing human cells into mouse embryos.
Para humans have been referred to as "human-animal hybrids" in a vernacular sense that also encompasses human-animal chimeras. The term parahuman is not used in scientific publications.
The term is sometimes used to sensationalize research that involves mixing biological materials from humans and other species.

References Nevertheless, mixtures between biological species are relatively rare in nature, and most such entities would be less 'fit' than their progenitors. With respect to animal-human mixing, no evidence of any entities being born has ever been recorded but new developments in crossing the species barrier may no longer limit animal-human mixtures to the domain of mythology. Indeed, procedures have recently been developed by scientists which mix human and animal biological elements to such an extent that it questions the very concept of being entirely human. For example, concern for animal-human mixtures was raised in 2001 by the UK Animal Procedures Committee which indicated in its Report on Biotechnology that though questions may exist as to the likely fate of such animal-human mixtures, there may be a deeper repugnance at the thought of their very existence. Indeed, The Regulation of New Biotechnologies and published in 2004, that the crossing of the animal-human boundary was, in some respects, quite complex and subtle but that the mixing of human and animal tissues and materials was not by itself objectionable. In other words, in the context of therapy and preventive medicine, the President's Council accepted that the transplantation of animal parts to replace defective human ones could be considered as ethical. Moreover, the Council had no overriding objection to the insertion of animal-derived genes or cells into a human body - or even into human fetuses.

Well in order to inculcate the habit of eating traditional Ghanaian foods, members of the Burma camp Arakan Methodist/ Presbyterian Church have organised a food bazaar. Study in Ghana, West Africa with ThisWorldMusic (www.thisworldmusic.com) and experience the best in traditional African music, arts and culture! People come from around the globe for the educational opportunity to study in Ghana, which is also known to many academics as the 'Gateway to Africa.' They come for the good food, friendly people, lively culture and historical sites like Kakum Park, Cape Coast Castle and Kejetia Market in Kumasi.
Many university study abroad students also enjoy studying in Ghana because English is the official language and because the country is very safe for foreigners. In the capital city Accra, musicians and dancers can learn about Ghanaian highlife music, kpanlogo (sometimes spelled panlogo) African drumming, hip-life music, and other forms of music, art and drumming of Africa. People enjoy eating indigenous African food such as fufu, banku and tilapia fish with jollof rice. Other people who travel to Ghana go to Kumasi, the former seat of the Ashanti Kingdom, where there is still an active African chief.
Ghana was formerly called the 'Gold Coast' and to this day there is active gold mining that takes place. In addition, they recently discovered oil, which may change the nation someday from a developing country into an industrialized country. Oil companies have recently started offshore oil drilling near the Ghanaian city of Takoradi, which is the capital of the Western Region. The potential for economic growth is quite astounding, and greater than at any other time in Ghana's history. Those on summer study abroad programs and others who study in Ghana know about this growth phenomenon from studying Nigeria, which is also in West Africa though not right on the Gulf of Guinea. Since Ghana is on the Atlantic coast, it borders Togo on one side and Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) on the other.

STORYLINE
US President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that the United States was not trying to expand its military influence in Africa by building new military bases on the continent.
The US Defence Department created United States Africa Command last October to consolidate operations that had been split among three other regional commands, none of which had Africa as a primary focus.
Several African countries, including Libya, Nigeria and South Africa, have expressed deep reservations about the command, claiming it could signal an unwanted expansion of American military influence or turn Africa into another battleground in the global war on terror groups.
Ghana's President, John Kufuor, raised the issue with Bush during their meetings at Osu Castle, a centuries-old building that was once a hub of
slave-trading and now is the seat of government.
"We do not contemplate adding new bases," Bush told a news conference in Ghana's capital, Accra.
"In other words the purpose of this is not to add military bases. I know there's rumours in Ghana, 'all Bush is coming to do is try to convince you to put a big military base here'. That's baloney. Or as we say in Texas, that's bull," Bush added.
During the news conference, the US leader also commented on recent parliamentary elections in Pakistan and declared that they were "a part of the victory on the war on terror".
"There was a victory for the people of Pakistan. And that is, there were elections held that have been judged as being fair and the people have spoken. I view that as a significant victory," he said.
Final results from this week's parliamentary poll were expected later on Wednesday, but with the count nearly complete, two opposition parties have won enough seats to form a new government, though they will likely fall short of the two-thirds needed to impeach Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.
Ghana has boosted its economy and cut its poverty markedly, although many people here remain poor.

STORYLINE:
US president George W. Bush left Ghana, flying to formerly war ravaged Liberia on Thursday before going back to Washington, as part of his Africa tour that included visits in Benin, Tanzania and Rwanda.
In a country teeming with resources the world covets, US President George W. Bush sought to soothe African fears about American interests on the continent.
He said the US isn't aiming to make Africa into a base for greater military power or a proxy battleground with China.
The desire for Africa's vast raw materials - oil, gold, diamonds, minerals, crops and more - has a long and often violent and exploitative history.
That's especially true in Ghana, a tropical, sweltering, resource-rich nation on the shores of West Africa, the first place in sub-Saharan Africa that Europeans arrived to trade, first in gold, then slaves, and now the site of a new offshore oil discovery.
Bush sought to deal with suspicions about the creation of a new US Military command dedicated to Africa.
African nations such as Libya, Nigeria and South Africa have expressed fears that the plan signals an unwanted expansion of American power on the continent or is a cover for protecting Africa's oil on behalf of the US.
Ghana's President, John Kufuor, raised the issue with Bush during their meetings at Osu Castle, a centuries-old building that was once a hub of
slave-trading and now is the seat of government in Accra.
Bush denied rumours of new military bases and instead said the new command - the US Defence Department created United States Africa Command last October - was aimed at more effectively reorganising US military efforts related to Africa under one hierarchy, and to strengthen African nations' peacekeeping, anti-terror, anti-trafficking and other efforts.
Bush added that Ghana's President, John Kufuor, bluntly told him in private that "you're not going to build any bases in Ghana."
On China, Bush made his argument clear: that the United States is the better and kinder partner, because it aims to improve African lives while nations like China focus on commercial opportunity to the exclusion of almost everything else.
In an indirect swipe at Beijing, Bush suggested that African leaders set standards such as the employment of African workers or keeping value-added processes on the continent for countries seeking to do business here - and promised the United States would meet them.
But there is no question that American economic interests also matter here.
On energy alone, a fifth of US oil comes from Nigeria.
Ghana's oil discovery last year matters, even if it won't rival that.
Ghana was the first African nation to receive a compact from Bush's Millennium Challenge Corporation, one worth 547 (m) million US dollars
over five years to expand markets for crops.
Gahna, a stable, relatively well administered democracy that has largely avoided ethnic clashes and played a busy peacekeeping role on the continent under Kufuor's leadership.
Ghana also has cut its still-persistent poverty and is known for press freedoms but it is still dependent on foreign aid, including millions each year from the United States.

This week on Keeping It Real, Adeola celebrates the Nigerian president as soldiers seem to be winning the war against terrorism. Unfortunately, her celebration was cut short with the news that Boko Haram had struck again, this time attacking the army barracks in Maiduguri.
From Australia, Adeola shows you a set of twins who share everything from one cell phone, to one bed, and of course dating the same man.
Nigeria is back to petrol scarcity, and Adeola wonders when exactly this would be over in a country known as one of the largest oil producers in the world.
In South Africa, police brutality continues as a Nigerian man gets harassed and striped naked on the street.
In Ghana, a Pastor and some members relocate to the bush to avoid sinners until the coming of the Lord. Find out why Adeola thinks she would not be allowed in their camp.
Adeola also celebrates 13-year-old Fuseina Mumuni of Ghana, who is now the youngest FIFA player, drafted to play for the U-17 Black Princesses of Ghana among other stories.

The Central African Republic's capital of Bangui has seen its Muslim population drop from 130,000 to under 1000 over the past few months. Over the past year, thousands across CAR have been killed and nearly a million have been displaced. The United Nations recently stated that the entire Western half of the country has now been cleansed of Muslims.
CAR has never fully recovered from France's colonial rule, and it has only known ten years of a civilian government - from 1993 to 2003 - since achieving independence in 1960. Coup after coup, often with French military involvement, has led many to refer to the country as a phantom state. The current conflict has now completely erased the rule of law and order, and left the UN and international community looking confused and impotent.
In March 2013, the Séléka, a mostly Muslim rebel alliance, rose up and overthrew the corrupt government of François Bozizé, while bringing terror and chaos across the country - pillaging, killing and raping with impunity. In response, mostly Christian self-defense forces, called the anti-balaka, formed to defend CAR against Séléka attacks.
Clashes grew more frequent throughout 2013 as the Séléka grew more ruthless. In December 2013, French and African troops went in to disarm the Séléka and staunch the bloodshed. The anti-balaka, seizing on a weakened Séléka, then went on the offensive.
CAR had no real history of religious violence, and the current conflict is not based on any religious ideology. The fighting, however, turned increasingly sectarian in the fall of 2013, with revenge killings becoming the norm. And as the Séléka's power waned, the anti-balaka fed their need for revenge by brutalizing Muslim civilians.
"Too few peacekeepers were deployed too late; the challenge of disarming the Séléka, containing the anti-balaka, and protecting the Muslim minority was underestimated," Human Rights Watch said in a recent statement.
The bloodshed has not stopped. The UN is still debating whether or not to send peacekeepers. Even if a peacekeeping operation is approved, it will take six months for troops to be assembled.

A bomb attack on a peace demonstration in the Turkish capital Ankara killed almost a hundred people, and has worsened the country's political crisis.
Elections planned for November 1st will be held amid growing claims that the governing AKP party of President Erdogan shares responsibility for stoking division and chaos.
Is Turkey on the brink of civil war?
Have your say: quadriga(at)dw.com
Our guests:
Alan Posener - is an Anglo-German author and regular commentator for the Berlin based newspaper “Die Welt”. He says: Some people would like to see civil war in Turkey – Kurdish and Islamic terrorists, possibly elements of the military. In this situation, the elected and legitimate government deserves support."
Malte Lehming - is head of the Op-Ed pages at the German daily the Tagesspiegel. He says: "Turkey - and it's ruling AKP party - is fighting four wars at the same time: against Isis, the PKK, the refugees and losing its majority in the elections on November 1st. Turkey, he believes, is increasingly vulnerable to regional turmoil and risks further destabilization."
Deger Akal - is a Berlin-based freelance journalist who has worked in the Turkish capital Ankara as a correspondent for various newspapers and TV channels. She is currently an editor at DW's Turkish desk. She says:"Turkey is very unpredictable and Western support is vital."

Ghana Travel Guide - Ghana is a very friendly country, ideal for first time travellers to Africa, the people are generally very helpful and welcoming. While their laidback attitude and lack of organized tourist sights/trips can be a little annoying to begin with, before you have been there for very long you realize that it is one of the delights of this country.
There is archaeological evidence which shows that humans have lived in what is present day Ghana from about 1500 BC. Oral tradition has it that many of Ghana's current ethnic groups such as the multi-ethnic Akan, the Ga and the Ewe arrived around the 13th Century AD.
The Travel Industry in Ghana is growing very quickly, and more tour operators are seeing increased requests for Ghana as a travel destination. Ghana is also rich in gold. This is a stable country with great potential for growth.

Partial Transcript:
So one thing I noticed when I went to Accra in Ghana is that it was very dirty. There was a lot of litter on the streets. A lot of trash on the streets. And there is big ditches on the side of the roads. There are big gutters and they're open. There's like slimy green brown water in them and they smell like feces and urine and there's trash in them. It's really disgusting. And then sometimes, actually, very often I saw people going to the bathroom in these gutters on the sides of the roads.
When I went to Accra one thing that surprised me as soon as I got out of the airport, it was amazing, but I saw people, especially a lot of women walking around with big containers or plates on there heads, and just walking, carrying these big large objects on their heads. I've seen National Geographic and documentaries about Africa before, but somehow it didn't strike me that I would see this in Accra. I thought Accra was a really developed city or whatever, but no, it's right there in Accra. I thought that was something I would see in the really rural areas of Africa or something. But it was quite common and very interesting, and that was one of my wonderful experiences about traveling to Ghana was seeing that.
Also, when I went to Accra a lot of people offered their help, especially men. On the street they would come up to me. They would ask me where I was from and where I was saying. They told me that if I needed anything they would help me out. When I first got to Accra I thought wow these people are really friendly. And the way they approached me was in a very friendly manner. But actually, I'd say almost everybody, except for 1 guy I met, everybody, every guy who approached me, what they wanted was, they did want to help me out, but they also expected some money in return. And they'd also say to me like "You're my brother. You're going to be my brother until I die." So they'd make me feel like I was their friend, but then they are expecting some compensation. So, I kind of want to do things by myself and I didn't want to be like a tourist. And even though I needed help sometimes I didn't feel like paying anybody to be my tour guide so I just kind of closed of those contacts and relationships as soon as possible.
Another thing that was interesting to me is the handshake. When you meet someone, a man or a woman. It's kind of hard to explain because there's not two people here. You shake their hand and then when you pull away from the handshake you snap your finger against their middle finger so your two middle fingers snap. I thought that was a really cool and personal way to great people.
Another thing to expect is to get sick. I mean get really sick. Like vomiting and diarrhea. The food tasted good. When I looked at it it didn't look dirty, but man did I get sick. I mean I got really sick. I'm actually going to talk about this more in a different video. Just to briefly give you a heads up expect to get sick in Ghana.
Okay another thing is the customer service. Ghana doesn't really have a big tourist infrastructure. You know, I saw tourist there but it's really kind of sparse in terms of services for tourists. When you go to hotels and stores and you're taking taxis or tro tros and buses don't expect any kind of customer service. Don't expect people to bend over backwards for you or to be polite. They just don't have that sense of customer service. I'm not saying that the Ghanaians are bad people, that's just not part of the culture yet.
I mean if you go to somewhere like here in Japan, the sense of customer service is very high. People who work in the service industry here are very enthusiastic about providing great customer service, but in Ghana that kind of sense just doesn't exist because they don't really have... like I said they don't have a big tourist infrastructure there yet and there's not a lot of tourists going there and they haven't quite realized that they can actually make a lot of money from tourism. But you know, it's going to happen in the next 100 years or so.
And then finally one thing that kind of shocked me and that you should expect when you go to Accra and Ghana is that there's really no stores there. Not the kind of stores that you're used to in the United States or in Europe. Accra is the biggest city in Ghana and the most developed city in Ghana. But beside for a few select, maybe foreign owned supermarkets, there's no stores like you're used to in the west. People just do their businesses out of a container. You know the kind of containers that are carried on the back of trucks and trains. They set up a shot in a container, or there's a little hut and they usually canned food, dried goods. They only sell usually one thing. This hut sells fruit, this one sells vegetables, this one sells canned goods, this one sells sunglasses. Don't expect to be able to go shopping and go to stores and stuff cause you won't find it there.
wn.com/Some Things To Know Before Traveling To Ghana

Travel video about nature park Keoladeo Ghana in India.
Around five kilometres beyond the city of Bharatpur is one of the most fascinating wildlife reserves on the Indian subcontinent, Keoladeo Ghana. Accompanied by the park’s experienced guides, the first leg of our journey travels across a well-worn route toPython Point that, due to its population of Tiger Pythons, most assuredly lives up to its name. Despite the picturesque landscape the local maharajas were more interested in the region’s wildlife, especially the population of wild duck In the middle of the 19th century the maharajahs recognized the merits of this newly created habitat and officially declared it to be their very own hunting grounds. Unlike today, the numerous water birds of Keoladeo Ghana were not protected but instead were hunted for sport. The park’s varied scenery is quite remarkable. Low-lying forests, shrubberies, swampland and savannah-like grasslands influence the external appearance of this fascinating nature reserve. In the north east of the park the dry forests consist mainly of the babul tree, a unique variety of acacia tree, and rose apple. For many visitors the remoteness of the park is in stark contrast to life in India’s lively, noisy and hectic cities. However, this world famous bird sanctuary is located close to civilization and also to a good network of roads. Yet motor vehicles are few and far between in Keoladeo Ghana where the bicycle rickshaw is the most common means of transport. Few bird sanctuaries in the world provide visitors with such a variety of bio-diversity and scenic beauty as does the Keoladeo National Park

VICE travels to West Africa to rummage through the messy remains of a country ravaged by 14 years of civil war. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of Liberia's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. The former child soldiers who were forced into war have been left to fend for themselves, the murderous warlords who once led them in cannibalistic rampages have taken up as so-called community leaders, and new militias are lying in wait for the opportunity to reclaim their country from a government they rightly mistrust.

Accra is the capital and largest city of Ghana, with an estimated urban population of 2.269 million as of 2012. It is also the capital of the Greater Accra Region and of the Accra Metropolitan District, with which it is coterminous. Accra is furthermore the anchor of a larger metropolitan area, the Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA), which is inhabited by about 4 million people, making it the second largest metropolitan conglomeration in Ghana by population, and the eleventh-largest metropolitan area in Africa.
Accra stretches along the Ghanaian Atlantic coast and extends north into Ghana's interior. Originally built around a port, it served as the capital of the British Gold Coast between 1877 and 1957. Once merely a 19th-century suburb of Victoriaborg, Accra has since transitioned into a modern metropolis; the city's architecture reflects this history, ranging from 19th-century architecture buildings to modern skyscrapers and apartment blocks.
Accra serves as the Greater Accra region's economic and administrative hub. It is furthermore a centre of a wide range of nightclubs, restaurants and hotels. Since the early 1990s, a number of new buildings have been built, including the multi-storey French-owned Novotel hotel. The city's National Theatre was built with Chinese assistance. In 2010, the GaWC designated Accra a Gamma-minus-level world city, indicating a growing level of international influence and connectedness.
The central business district of Accra contains the city's main banks and department stores, and an area known as the Ministries, where Ghana's government administration is concentrated. Economic activities in Accra include the financial and agricultural sectors, Atlantic fishing, and the manufacture of processed food, lumber, plywood, textiles, clothing and chemicals.
