"India India" rare Beatles song and pictures
This is a rare John Lennon song written during the Beatles famed 1968 trip to India accompanied by some great shots of the Fab. It's about coming to India and trying to follow his heart, but knowing that his heart was really back in England where his love waited. It is speculated that Lennon didn't release it at the time because it would have made public his feelings for Yoko while he was still

The Beatles visited Rishikesh in India in February 1968 to attend an advanced Transcendental Meditation (TM) training session at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Amidst widespread media attention, their stay at the ashram was one of the band's most productive periods. Their adoption of the Maharishi as their guru is credited by some as changing attitudes in the West about Indian spirituality, and encouraging the study of Transcendental Meditation. The Beatles first met the Maharishi in London in August 1967 and then attended a seminar in Bangor, Wales. Although this seminar in Wales was planned to be a 10-day session, their stay was cut short by the death of their manager, Brian Epstein. Wanting to learn more, they kept in contact with the Maharishi and planned to attend his ashram in October, but their trip was rescheduled due to other commitments.

This is a rare John Lennon song written during the Beatles famed 1968 trip to India accompanied by some great shots of the Fab. It's about coming to India and trying to follow his heart, but knowing that his heart was really back in England where his love waited. It is speculated that Lennon didn't release it at the time because it would have made public his feelings for Yoko while he was still with Cynthia Lennon.

Joe Johnson was born near Kennedy Airport in New York, a half dozen years before The Beatles landed in America for the first time. He and his family moved to South Florida to witness the magic of the Fab Four on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, and remembers the 8 days (a week) they spent in Miami.
Beatle Brunch is a fascinating hour of music and interviews with The Beatles and those in their immediate circle, including Manager Brian Epstein and Producer George Martin. Every week, you'll hear classic interview clips from the days of Beatlemania, plus the most up to date information about The Beatles today. The Show takes a trip inside the studio to hear a song under construction, or a journey to a faraway stage ... a flashback to a famous Beatles concert, or more recently one featuring Paul or Ringo, along with historic George and John. Listen to Joe Johnson's Beatle Brunch program every Sunday live on your local radio station or “On Demand” via The Beatle Brunch Club.
The idea for Beatle Brunch originated in the spring of 1992 when Joe purchased a new car that had an in-dash CD player. It was on a long drive to visit family that he brought along a stack of Beatles CD's and listened with the volume cranked. In the air-tight vehicle, through the 6-speaker sound system, their songs sounded fresh, new and exciting 22 years after The Beatles split. Joe wondered why local radio stations weren't featuring The Beatles in a regular radio program, and decided to do something about it. As Production Director, deejay and producer at Miami’s Majic 102.7 Classic Hits station, Joe proposed the idea of a one-hour show on The Beatles to his Program Director. He liked the idea and asked Joe to produce a demo of how that show might sound. Beatle Brunch debuted May 31st 1992 on 5 radio stations: Miami, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Rochester, NY; Baltimore, MD; and Laconia, NH. For the first 8 years, Joe built the market base of stations one-at-a-time, adding great cities like Boston, Pittsburgh and Detroit. Now Beatle Brunch is distributed by Dial Global Radio Networks (formerly Westwood One), the nation's largest radio syndication company and the show airs on more than 100 radio stations in their system. With his personal touch of grace and charm Joe builds his Beatle Brunch Family by mixing and mingling with all those who enthusiastically come together whenever he emcees Name that Beatles Tune and Beatles Trivia contests at Beatles Festivals and sponsored Beatles events all over the world.

THE LIGHT THAT HAS LIGHTED THE WORLD
by George Harrison.
I've heard how some people, have said
that I've changed
That I'm not what I was
How it really is a shame
The thoughts in their heads,
Manifest on their brow
Like bad scars from ill feelings
they themselves arouse
So hateful of anyone that is happy
or 'free'
They live all their lives,
without looking to see
The light that has lighted the world
It's funny how people, just won't
accept change
As if nature itself - they'd prefer
re-arranged
So hard to move on
When you're down in a hole
Where there's so little chance,
to experience soul
I'm greatful to anyone,
that is happy or 'free'
for giving me hope
while I'm looking to see
The light that has lighted the world

This track produced by George Harrison and featuring the London Radha Krsna Temple reached the No12 position in the UK singles chart in 1969. The album now known as "Goddess of Fortune" Has become a timeless classic loved by many.

HARE KRISHNA

HARE HARE
HARE RAMA
HARE RAMA
RAMA RAMA
HARE HARE
Srila Prabhupada says,
Rama and Krishna are names of God, and Hare is the energy of God. So when we chant the maha-mantra, we address God together with His energy. This energy is of two kinds, the spiritual and the material. At present we are in the clutches of the material energy. Therefore we pray to Krishna that He may kindly deliver us from the service of the material energy and accept us into the service of the spiritual energy. That is our whole philosophy. Hare Krishna means, "O energy of God, O God [Krishna], please engage me in Your service." It is our nature to render service. Somehow or other we have come to the service of material things, but when this service is transformed into the service of the spiritual energy, then our life is perfect.

Oh, won't you hear me lord
Help me lord, please
To rise a little higher, hmm
Help me lord, please
To burn out this desire, hmm
Hear me lord, please
Hear me lord, please
Oh, won't you please, please
Hear me lord
Oh, hear me lord
Hear me lord
Oh, won't you please, please
Hear me lord
My lord, my lord, my lord
(Hear me lord)
Now, won't you please (hear me lord)
My lord, my lord, my lord
Won't you please / (Hear me lord)
Oh, hear me lord, hear me lord
(Hear me lord)

The Hare Krishna Maha~Mantra performed by George Harrison and the London Radha Krsna Temple. This track reached No12 in the U.K, singles chart in 1969 and has become a "Classic" along with the Album now known as "Goddess of Fortune". George Harrison, a powerful Hare Krishna Siksha Guru is loved and admired by Krishna devotees worldwide.
The lyrics follow.....
Hare Krishna Mahamantra
Hare Krishna
Hare Krishna
Krishna Krishna
Hare Hare
Hare Rama
Hare Rama
Rama Rama
Hare Hare
Srila Prabhupada says:
"Rama and Krishna are names of God, and Hare is the energy of God. Somehow or other we have come to the service of material things, but when this service is transformed into the service of the spiritual energy, then our life is perfect."

The Song Lyrics Follow........
THIS IS LOVE
Precious words drift away from their meaning
And the sun melts the chill from our lives
Helping us all to remember what we came here for
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
Little things that will change you forever
May appear from way out of the blue
Making fools of ev'rybody who don't understand
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
Since our problems have been our own creation
They also can be overcome
When we use the power provided free to everyone
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
This is love, this is la la la-la love
Oh, this is love, this is la la la-la love

A Bhakti~art slideshow depicting the pastimes of Lord Sri Krishna as described in the Bengali Vaishnava bhajan ~ Bhaja Bhakata Vatsala Sri Gaurahari ~ official name ~ Sri Surabhi Kunjer Bhoga Arotik ~ composed by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura from His book Gitavali. Performed by The London Radha Krsna Temple ~ produced and featuring George Harrison. The translation follows.........
TRANSLATION
1) Just worship Sri Gaurahari, who is always affectionate toward His devotees. He is the same Supreme Godhead, Krsna, who sported in the cowherd pastures of Vraja and stole the hearts of Nanda and Yasoda.
2) Mother Yasoda calls to Krsna, "My dear Damodara, it is very late. Please come right now, sit down in the dining hall, and take Your lunch."
3) On the direction of Nanda Maharaja, Krsna, the holder of Govardhana Hill, sits down, and then all the cowherd boys, along with Krsna's elder brother, Sri Baladeva, sit down in rows to take their lunch.
4) They are then served a feast of sukta and various kinds of green leafy vegetables, then nice fried things, and a salad made of the green leaves of the jute plant. They are also served pumpkin, baskets of fruit, small square cakes made of lentils and cooked down milk, then thick yogurt, squash cooked in milk, and vegetable preparations made from the tower of the banana tree.
5) Then they receive fried squares of mung dahl patties, and urad dahl patties, capatis, and rice with ghee. Next, sweets made with milk, sugar and sesamum, rice flour cakes; thick cooked-down milk; cakes floating in milk; and sweet rice.
6) There is also sweet rice that tastes just like nectar due to its being mixed with camphor. There are bananas, and cheese which is nectarean and delicious. They are also served twelve kinds of sour preparations made with tamarinds, limes, lemons, oranges, and pomegranates.
7) There are puns made with white flour and sugar; puns filled with cream; laddus; and dahl patties boiled in sugared rice. Krsna eagerly eats all of the food.
8) In great ecstasy and joy Krsna eats the rice, curried vegetables, sweets, and pastries cooked by Srimati Radharani.
9) Krsna's funny brahmana friend Madhumangala, who is very fond of Laddus, gets them by hook or by crook. Eating the laddus he shouts, "Haribol! Haribol!~' and makes a funny sound by swapping his sides under his armpits with his hands.
10) Beholding Radharani and Her gopifriends out of the courters of His eyes, Krsna eats at the house of mother Yasoda with great satisfaction.
11) After lunch, Krsna drinks rose-scented water. Then all of the boys, standing in lines, wash their mouths.
12) After all the cowherd boys wash their hands and mouths, in great bliss they take rest with Lord Balarama.
13) The two cowherd boys Jambula and Rasala then bring Krsna pan made with betel nuts, fancy spices, and catechu. After eating that pin, Sri Krsnacandra then happily goes to sleep.
14) While Krsna happily takes His rest on an excellent bedstead, His servant Visalaksa cools Him with a fan of peacock feathers.
15) At mother Yasoda's request the gopi Dhanistha brings remnants of food left on Krsna's plate to Srimati Radharani, who eats them with great delight
16) Lalita-devi and the other gopis then receive the remnants, and within their hearts they sing the glories of Radharani and Krsna with great joy.
17) Thakura Bhaktivinoda, whose one and only Joy is the pastimes of Lord Hari, sings this Bhoga-arati song

Vintage video footage of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, affectionately known to those whose heart He touches as Srila prabhupada in New York City in 1966. Set to Sri Gurvastakam (Samsara Davanala) Comosed by Vaishnava Acarya Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura and performed by The London Radha Krsna Temple featuring George Harrison.
TRANSLATION
1) The spiritual master is receiving benediction from the ocean of mercy. Just as a cloud pours water on a forest fire to extinguish it, so the spiritual master delivers the materially afflicted world by extinguishing the blazing fire of material existence. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is an ocean of auspicious qualities.
2) Chanting the holy name, dancing in ecstasy, singing, and playing musical instruments, the spiritual master is always gladdened by the sańkīrtana movement of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. Because he is relishing the mellows of pure devotion within his mind, sometimes his hair stands on end, he feels quivering in his body, and tears flow from his eyes like waves. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
3) The spiritual master is always engaged in the temple worship of Srī Srī Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. He also engages his disciples in such worship. They dress the Deities in beautiful clothes and ornaments, clean Their temple, and perform other similar worship of the Lord. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
4) The spiritual master is always offering Kṛṣṇa four kinds of delicious food [analyzed as that which is licked, chewed, drunk, and sucked]. When the spiritual master sees that the devotees are satisfied by eating bhagavat-prasāda, he is satisfied. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
5) The spiritual master is always eager to hear and chant about the unlimited conjugal pastimes of Rādhikā and Mādhava, and Their qualities, names, and forms. The spiritual master aspires to relish these at every moment. I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
6) The spiritual master is very dear, because he is expert in assisting the gopīs, who at different times make different tasteful arrangements for the perfection of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa's conjugal loving affairs within the groves of Vṛndāvana. I offer my most humble obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master.
7) The spiritual master is to be honored as much as the Supreme Lord, because he is the most confidential servitor of the Lord. This is acknowledged in all revealed scriptures and followed by all authorities. Therefore I offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of such a spiritual master, who is a bona fide representative of Srī Hari [Kṛṣṇa].
8) By the mercy of the spiritual master one receives the benediction of Kṛṣṇa. Without the grace of the spiritual master, one cannot make any advancement. Therefore, I should always remember and praise the spiritual master. At least three times a day I should offer my respectful obeisances unto the lotus feet of my spiritual master.
9) One who, with great care and alteration, loudly recites this beautiful prayer to the spiritual master during the Brahma-muhurta obtains direct service to Krsna, the Lord of Vrndavana, at the time of his death.

Sanjay shows popular Indian classical instruments. Beatles played instruments made by his family.
Hi, welcome to Rikhi Ram Music, Gole Market. I am Sanjay Rikhi Ram, I will show you my shop today. I am the third generation in a row to follow the same tradition of musical instrument making. My grandfather, Pandit Rikhi Ram Sharma, he started his musical instrument manufacturing, or making in the year 1920.
Esteemed clients like the Beatles, they came in 1966 to India. That is my father in 1966, that is Paul McCartney and George Harrison. This is the sitar which George Harrison bought. This is the tanpura that Paul McCartney is testing. This one here. And since then, you know, a lot of other groups of people that come. This is Pandit Ravi Shankar in a recent concert in Delhi this year. This is our professional quality of sitar.
Sitar structure is the sound board, the neck, the pumpkin as a resonator, the backing for the, you know, the strength. So the difference on this particular sitar is compared to the bigger one, that it does not have a pumpkin, the gord. The next change what I did was, you know, compromising on the length. So tanpura is basically four stringed instrument and made and designed for a compliment, you know, at the background, like a drone. The bigger version of the tanpura is this one here. And this is a very old instrument made by my grandfather. I am Sanjay Rikhi Ram, showing you Delhi.

Wild Frontiers' Jonny Bealby presents a guide to Calcutta and the Northeast of India.
As far as Wild Frontiers is concerned Calcutta and the Northeast is a region that comprises pretty much anything east of Delhi, running along the Ganges flood plain to Calcutta and beyond to the borders of Bangladesh, Burma and Bhutan.
If most travellers coming to India head west out of Delhi to Rajasthan, most that don't head east down the Ganges to Varanasi.
Most of these travel by air or rail directly to Varanasi but if you are of an adventurous disposition there are many interesting places to stop off at along the route, such as Rishikesh -- where the Beatles stayed and wrote the famous White Album -- or Lucknow, a beautiful city packed with fabulous Moghul architecture. In fact if you're looking for a group tour you might like to try our Slow Down the Ganges trip, which, having spent some time in the Himalayas and at Corbett Tiger Park, takes a boat from Allahabad, spending two days and nights, on this spiritual aqua highway.
Whatever your preferred form of transport is to Varanasi, even the most seasons travellers among you are in for a shock when you get there.
Varanasi sits at the confluence of the Ganges, the Yamuna and the mythical Sara Swati Rivers and as such is one of the most important pilgrimage centres in the whole country. Over 60,000 devotees a day come here to cleanse themselves in the rivers holy waters. Others come here to die believing death in Varanasi removes you from the cycle of rebirth and delivers you to heaven and the burning ghats, and the religious festivals that go on here, day and night, are an ever present accompaniment.
From Varanasi you can continue east to Calcutta -- personally my favourite city in India. Largely off the beaten track, Calcutta -- or Kolkata, as its now known locally -- is a quintessential Indian city; a place of bustling bazaars and markets, of epic historical monuments, amazing decaying architecture, great cuisine and above all a buzzing humanity.
And from here head north. First and foremost to the famous tea plantations of Darjeeling -- where you'll find an interesting town, some great accommodation, and wonderful views, particularly of the 8,000m epic mountain Kanchenjunga. And from here, you can continue east, perhaps on one of the famous river boats up the Brahmaputra River, to Nagaland and a very different India.
We have a number of group tours to this region; the afore mentioned Slowly Down the Ganges. Land of the Kama Sutra -- which among other things takes in the amazing Sonepur Elephant Festival -- and perhaps one of our most remote trips called the Nagaland Festival Tour -- which takes you right up into the far northeast. And of course, back in our offices in London and Delhi, we have specialist travel planners that know all these places inside out waiting to help you create the most perfect tailor-made experience.
Calcutta and the Northeast is a region that will require greater effort on the part of the international traveller. It is a region that is less visited than others, where the infrastructure is less well developed. But it is also an region that is home to some of India's most iconic attractions.

Get to know Liverpool, England, where the River Mersey meets the Irish Sea. This charming city is filled with maritime history, Beatlemania, and places of worship.
Begin your English adventures at the Three Graces, which include the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building. These iconic and architecturally magnificent structures sit in Pier Head, overlooking the River Mersey. View the buildings in all their glory at the nearby Museum of Liverpool. Then head to U-Boat Story to explore a previously sunken German submarine, followed by a trip to the Merseyside Maritime Museum, where you’ll learn boatloads of information about ships of the past, from the Titanic to the Lusitania.
As long as you’re in Liverpool, explore the fabulous four’s old stomping grounds. The Beatles played more than 300 gigs at Cavern Club, while the Casbah Coffee Club is where Beatlemania took off. To learn more about the epic band, roam around the memorabilia exhibits at The Beatles Story, a museum where you can marvel at John Lennon’s glasses and George Harrison’s first guitar. What’s more, you can visit the grave of Eleanor Rigby—who inspired the famous song—along with the bandstand that prompted the “Sergeant Peppers” album.
Still looking for more adventures? Dabble in the city’s religious side and check out the Anglican Cathedral. It was engineered by a 22-year-old architecture student who won a design contest. Afterwards, visit the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, known as “Paddy’s Wigwam,” which exudes the free spirt and charm of the 1960s. Both of these structures boast magnificent designs and are considered architectural splendors.
There’s much more to Liverpool, though. Its football fans are die-hard, while the estates, such as Sudley House and Croxteth Hall, are historical treasures. However you decide to spend your adventures in this English town, check out our Liverpool travel guide for more tips and recommendations.

Hop in a taxi and see many historic and modern sides of Delhi.
New Delhi is loaded with hundreds of places! Today we are going to put you in a taxi and take you on a whirlwind tour of the whole place with our trusted taxi driver, Mr. Amit Lal. Are we ready Amit Lal ji?
Jantar Mantar: Built in the late 18th century by Sawaii Raja Jai Singh, this place is used to conduct experiments in time, space and astronomy. It sheds some light on how scientific thinking had evolved back then.
The Lotus Temple: one of the capital's most iconic structures, whose architecture reflects unification, the oneness of all religions, a significant symbol in India, where so many different religions are practiced.
Qutab Minar: Behind me is the Qutab Minar, India's largest stone tower. This was built in the 12th century by Qutb-u'd-Din Aibak. The Qutab Minar has been standing through national calamities, all the way from earthquakes to floods, to even strikes of lightning! The top bit, in fact, was struck down by a lightning bolt in the 14th century. Afterwards, it was rebuilt.
Rashtrapati Bhavan: This is the residence of India's president, the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In our tradition, the first president of India chose not to stay in the master bedroom, because he thought it was way too grand for his austere taste. Therefore, no president sleeps in the master bedroom.
India Gate: another famous monument in India, was built in the memory of soldiers who died in the first World War.
Connaught Place: This is Connaught Place, pretty much the commercial hub of Delhi. This is where people come when they want to shop like crazy or even hang out. Right down on the corner there is Janpath, the place to go if you are a tourist and want to pick up some really wonky artifacts.
India is a developing country, and it has got its bits of poverty and chaos. But Delhi's future looks bright. Roads are a lot better than they were years ago. Some of these flyovers did not exist until recently. The growing economy has created loads and loads of jobs. Many malls have sprung up around the city. The culinary scene continues to get global.
Red Fort: is where independent India first hoisted its flag. Shah Jahan, who built the Taj Mahal, also built the Red Fort.
Chandni Chowk: Take a turn from Red Fort and you are in Delhi's Old World Market, Chandni Chowk.
Rajghat: This is Rajghat, Mahatma Gandhi's final resting place.
Humayun's Tomb: This is Humayun's Tomb, with its architecture eerily similar to the Taj Mahal. Humayun's widow built this for him in the 16th century.
Come to the center of Delhi, take the toll road, and all of a sudden you are in Noida. The bustling new suburbs of the city, favored by new businesses, multi-national corporations and super-sized malls. This part of the country defines the new India.
And this is where most of the city's glittering new malls and apartment buildings are located. Believe it or not, India is changing. Expect the city to look dramatically different in the following few years, and when you are here, it seems very close to possible. This is Udayan, showing you Delhi.

In February 1968 The Beatles went to Rishikesh and stayed at the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, writing many songs for the White Album and others, including Revolution #9 in the small meditation huts you see in the video.
Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr left in March, returning to England, but John Lennon and George Harrison remained until John had a falling-out with the yogi over a rumored sexual liaison with a young westerner, some reportedly thought was Mia Farrow, who had accompanied the Fab Four on the trip. Before leaving, the Maharishi asked Lennon if they could talk to find out what was wrong, but John stated something to the effect of: "if you're so cosmic, you'll know why" and they were off, apparently plagued by car troubles that Lennon attributed to some type of "spell" the Mahirishi had put on them before their departure.
The "Beatles Ashram", as it has become known, closed in 1994 and has been taken over by jungle where only the empty shells of the former glorious ashram remain. Only parrots, peacocks, monkeys, elephants, and leopards remain along the banks of the Ganges where music history was made some 46 years ago.
Follow the path in front of the Parmarth Niketan Ashram south less than half a kilometer until it turns into a sand Jeep trail. You will see the Ganges on your right, where there happened to be a funeral pyre the day I was there, along with an old guest house and makeshift shacks. You may see the "Beatles Ashram" sign on the wall on your left if it is still there. When you reach the end of the path at the dry river crossing, make a left up the riverbed and follow the intertwined paths between the rocks. You will see a park and high wall on your right and about 150 meters further east you will find the gate to what used to be the Maharishi Mahesh Ashram.
The entrance fee will run around 100 rupees ($1.60) per person, but try to haggle. There will likely be a "guide" waiting there to offer his services for a "donation", so feel free to partake or not. I did and it was well worth the 200 rupees ($3.20) I gave him, probably twice what he was expecting for an hour of his time.
As you meander through the dense jungle, you will go up a hill past small domed rock two-story structures that served as living and meditation quarters for ashram guests. A little further up on the right (you will see a small entry/exit gate) are three of these that the Beatles "reportedly" used for song writing during their stay. The second, bungalow "#9", I was told by the guide, is where Revolution (1 and 9) were written by Lennon.
The ashram was a small city at one time, housing up to 2,000 guests and providing banking, a post office, shops, kitchens and cafeterias, bungalows, large single-room dorms (where the Beatles and their entourage lived during their stay), meditation halls, and the quarters of the Maharishi Mahesh atop the cliff overlooking the Ganges, complete with air conditioning and a small swimming pool.
You can see everything in an hour to an hour-and-a-half or you can spend an entire day meandering through the jungle, exploring buildings, or meditating in a mecca of rock and roll ... The Beatles Ashram.
CombatCritic Gives Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (The Beatles) Ashram 9 ... Number 9, Number 9, Number 9 ... Out Of 10 Bombs ... BOMBS ARE GREAT!

With some great travel tips, Udayan helps you navigate through the exciting and overwhelming India.
What are some practical and useful tips you should know when traveling to New Delhi, India or another city in India?
Despite India developing rapidly, it still does not have most of the infrastructure and amenities that are so common in the western world. Following a few handy travel tips might make travel for you a whole lot easier while you are in India.
First, if you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure it is a registered taxi. The best option is to take a prepaid taxi. If that is not available, you should fix the price or make sure that the meter is working. Do not wait till reaching your destination for deciding on the price even if your driver insists on doing so. This applies not only the transportation from the airport but any transportation in gerneral.
If you are traveling within India there are quite a few transportation options available. In India transportation ranges from the pragmatic to the imaginative. Within Delhi the metros the best way to travel. So if you are going somewhere, check if there is a metro route that can get you there. For short distances autos are generally a good bet. Unless the meter is not working. In which case you should find out what the correct rate is from the hotel you are staying at or from the person you are staying with.
If you plan to be sight seeing throughout the day, it is probably a good idea to get an air conditioned cab like this one. Especially so if it is summer. These cabs are generally cheap but check on the prices with your hotel or with the person you are staying with. Just incase. You might want to rent your own car to drive around here. But if you are not used to the streets in Delhi, it is not a recommended option. Always try and get bottled water instead of tap water in this country. Bottled water is widely available. But when you are buying it make sure that the top is sealed.
India has some great street food. But travelers should avoid eating it. If you are really keen, there is some upscale resturants that serve traditional fast food, that is actually hygenic. India has the finest hotels in the whole world. You will find attention and service here of levels far receding often those, even in the West. People here, from the concierge to the bell boy, will be more than willing to help you, even with your smallest bits of luggage. However, there is a slight catch. They all want to be tipped. Fortunately ten or tweenty rupee notes will do the trick, sometimes.
This here is a tweenty rupee note. This is a ten rupee note. This is hundred and this is five hundred. It is always a good idea to have as many as possible of these, that is a ten rupee ad a tweenty rupee note, for tipping and for just about everything else. When you ask somebody for dirrections it is always a good idea to ask somebody else, just to confirm. It is not that somebody wants to give you wrong dirrections or wants to ruin your day, it is just that sometimes people want to be way too helpful.
Most upscale and midscale hotels in the country provide you with basic accessories, like tissue paper and toilet paper. However, if you are putting up in one of those cheaper or small town accomodations you might not want to take these things for granted. All these essentials are available widely across the country. In general stores like the one behind my back. In India, getting your laundry done is not a hastle at all. Laundry takes a day. And the shirts can be ironed within the space of a few minutes. You need not worry about your laundry because it will not take more than a dollar. Getting your shirts wrinkled up is not too much of a hastle.
Always bargin in the market place. Unless you are in a fixed price shop. It is not a good idea to give beggers around the place money. Even if you are tempted too. It just incourages the wrong sort of placement. And anyways the money always goes to someone else and not exactly the person you paid the money. Avoid going to quiet and lonely areas if you are a woman. Dressing conservative is probably the best option. Medical help here is cheaper than any place else and widely available, at least in the cities. However, get a medical refference, like you get anywhere else, before you go to the facility.
When you are traveling back, I will equate enough time to make sure that you get to the airport on time. Even when you travel back late at night you are likely to encounter a traffic jam. Especially when you are traveling from central Delhi to say the airport. Take about an hour at hand but buffer some time in for traffic jams. With these tips you can enjoy a more comfortable, safer and healthier stay in the country. And get around to what is the most important, enjoying the immense beauty and culture you find here. This is Udayan showing you India.

An acoustic guitar lesson how to play Dear Prudence by the Beatles. John Lennon wrote this in India, inspired by Donavon's finger picking style who was also on the trip.
The guitar I'm playing here is a Taylor GS Mini. I really like this guitar, it has a real warm tone and is easy to play.
The strings are Elixir phosphor bronze 12-53 with nanoweb coating. These strings are a little bit more expensive, but for me they easily last 4-5 times longer than non coated strings.
Folks may be surprised at how much time and effort goes into creating these videos. If you're getting something out of the lessons and can afford to contribute to the cause, I've setup a Paypal link. If you can't afford it no worries, but if you can, any amount is appreciated and will help me to continue to make the videos.

Thanks for all the comments, and questions and of course for subscribing. I really appreciate the support. Good luck to everyone with your guitar playing.
cheers
