Summer 2015. New Orleans, LA.
Reason for forming:
A friendship fortified in Buffalo met with geographical coincidence in New Orleans. We’ve each spent a lot of time playing in a lot of bands. We live a few blocks from each other. What else are we gonna do? Sometimes we write songs. Sometimes we listen to records and have beers. Sometimes we make food and hang with animals. We still have to wake up everyday. It’s better than trying to meet new people.
What are your lyrics about?
Stream of consciousness absurdity. Alcohol, anxiety, and embarrassment. Jokes that no one else gets. Being smart enough to know how stupid you are. Being in your 30s and almost kinda having your shit together, but actually not really.
How would you describe your sound?
We like Swell Maps, but don’t really sound like that. The demo has acoustic guitar and singing saw, but we don’t really sound like that. One of us has played in hardcore bands, but we don’t really sound like that. One of us has played in pop punk bands, but we don’t really sound like that. We record with two mics and a 4 track in a living room, we do kinda sound like that. We like distorted vocals. We forgot to have any bass guitar or bass drum on the demo. The other day we stayed up really late and went to see Spray Paint, and we thought they were great. You get the idea.
What’s in the future for this band?
A 2nd tape is almost done. It has bass guitar and bass drum. It would be cool to do a record. Pretty soon we’ll probably be living in New Hampshire, or Buffalo, or the bottom of the ocean. I think we’ll keep playing one way or another for a while though.

Reason for forming:
Three out of four of us had just moved to Montreal and were eager to start playing shows here.
What are your lyrics about?
Shitty people and angry animals.
How would you describe your sound?
I think the one line description we got for our first show was “Negative Approach trying to sound like Slayer”.
What’s in the future for this band?
We’re aiming to get the newest tape out as a 7″, write some new slappers, and play as much as we can here and elsewhere.

Olympia, WA in Feb 2014.
Reason for forming:
Myself (max the guitar player/also in Bone Sickness), Mitch (vocalist also in Bone Sickness), and Jeff (drummer, also of gag) wanted to take NWHC in a much more abrasive direction and channel the likes aggressive HC acts such as Poison Idea, Voorhees, and Out Cold… and sort of mix it with an 80s NYHC vibe. At least that was the initial idea. Mitch, playing in Bone Sickness for as long as 5 years gave him an urge to try something new, and was nice enough to invite me along the way.
What are your lyrics about?
Lyrics veer away from politics and ideology and focus primarily on personal outlook and gruesome interests. For example, our track 213 is about the mind of Jeffrey Dahmer.
How would you describe your sound?
We strive to touch on all styles of HC and channel the likes of aforementioned influences, but Painkiller Records’ Cooch, who released our tape for us wrote “There’s almost an early-’80s Swedish element to the guitar playing, but shoved through the classic USHC blender, and then pumped full of the kind of performance-enhancing drugs that get you banned from professional competition.”
What’s in the future for this band?
We are releasing a 7″ some time in 2016 and have flirted with the idea of an east coast run of shows with our friends (who I won’t jump the gun on saying who just yet), but in any case, there will be some touring.
