Girl Guided Missiles – Desperate Men 7″

Another UK 7″ you say? Yes of course I’d say, and this time it’s one that I think is new to a lot of people concidering it’s really hard to track down, never been comped and it’s not on youtube (yet, even though that might change after this post). And it’s a great record, so why it never appeared on any of of the Bloodstains, KBD, BTF etc series is beyond me. But then I could say the same thing about Nicky Beat & the Beatniks and numerous other bands in the posting queue. On the other hand I think that means that there are still enough great and uncomped records from the UK to fill a few more series if anyone wanna pick up the torch again.
And I’m still waiting for someone to do the first Japanese KBD comp! There has been a few hardcore ones, and then there’s the Gozira label comp, but I’m still waiting for for a classic Killed by death comp of obscure Japanese punk bands.
And I’m also waiting for a Bloodstains across Eastern Europe! Come on, someone whould know enough about that scene do put together a more than decent compilation.

If fyou couldn’t tell that already I don’t really know that much about this band…

From a time when it was unhip trying to emulate other bands and their sound or art work. I won’t call it good ‘ol times but certain things were definitely better. Or maybe I’m just too old and miss all the new great bands with interesting ideas.

The Ignerents – Radio Interference 7″

A nice little 7″ recorded in 1979, but released in 1980 that me a Peter had a short, but passive-aggressive fight over as we both wanted to post it. Guess who won!

The a-side is a bit too much boogie rock n’ roll for a young guy like me, but the b-side is the bees knees. Great powerpoppy punk with a really catchy chorus. I wouldn’t mind if that song interferenced my radio more often.

If your copy is on Ace records, you’ve got the second press that popped up about a month after the first, that was released on the bands’ own Rundown records. In 1981 the band released a second 7″ under the name the Bee Keepers, and the band can be linked to The Rivals and Wasteland who they exchanged members with over time. Of course both Rivals 7inches and Wastelands lone release will be posted later on.

Lullabies – Next One Single Single E.P. 7″

Lullabies were a bunch of Dutch teen punks who I guess didn’t spend too much time in the rehearal room before they recorded their trash considering the primitive racket they kicked out on this E.P. Their first E.P. was released a year prior to this one and was a close to 30 minutes long 21 songs double 7″ E.P. that’s even a bit more under produced than this one. Apart from 2 own records, the band had a bunch of songs on the Seven-Vijftig comp LP as well as one track on the U-Track LP from 79 and the great Utreg Punx comp 7″.

The band was from the home of drooling record collectors, Utrecht, which is pretty well known for an insane record fair where you can find pretty much every single record on your want list these days. And the fair apart, the city had a very healthy punk scene with bands as the Nixe, the Rapers, Rakketax, Coitus Int, the Ex, Dangerous Pyjamas, Bizon Kids etc. It seems to me like most bands from the town got documented with at least one song on vinyl, for which these guys have a decent responsibility as they were the initial force for the close-knitted local scene.
