The workweek and weekend are those complementary parts of the week devoted to labour and rest respectively. The legal working week (British English), or workweek (U.S. English), is the part of the seven-day week devoted to labour. In most Western countries it is Monday to Friday. The weekend comprises the two traditionally non-working days in the seven-day week. What constitutes the working week is mandated either by law or custom. In Christian tradition, Sunday is the "Lord's Day" and the day of rest and worship. Jewish Shabbat or Biblical Sabbath lasts from sunset on Friday to the fall of full darkness on Saturday. The French Revolutionary Calendar had ten-day weeks and allowed decadi, one out of the ten days, as a leisure day.
The present-day concept of the weekend first arose from the Dies Solis (Day of the Sun) decreed by Constantine and from Biblical Sabbath. The weekend in Western countries comprises Saturday and Sunday, when most employees do not have to work. The Christian Sabbath itself was just one day each week, but the preceding day (the Jewish Sabbath) also came to be taken as a holiday in the twentieth century.
Looking through my window up
At you in your doorway,
I can't believe this is happening.
Everynight we say goodbye
And everynight you almost cry,
But now it won't be everynight.
I can see you on the weekends,
but I'm not sure if that's enough.
And I pray we'll stay together,
But I don't think that we need luck.
Think of me when I am not around.
If seeing is believing,
Then I'm sure that this will work.
ICQ and AOL but it will still be hard at first.
No more calling you real early
Just to hear your voice.
Believe me that I love you,
But I have no other choice.
I'll see you when I can,
But it might be hard to get home.
And I promise you Christmas,
But the rest I just don't know.
Think of me when i am not around
One more time, losing my mind. Here I go again.
I'm sorry I could not be here for you all the time.
And then the last kiss goodbye you smile and wipe your tears away.
I think, you
I think
And my friends should
Hang out
O-o-on
The weekends
I think
And my friends should
Hang out
O-o-on
The weekends
I think
You and my friends should

Tuesday morning is Wednesday afternoon when you cry all nightWednesday early we fall into work all caught up in the day by dayThursday morning is not Thursday morning till Alanis says: "How's your life? How's your life? Hey, how's your life? How's your life?"

What if there were no more mother's boys? What if no one shared their humble experience? What if there were no consequences? What if there were no more arguments?Wouldn't that be a shame?Would that be impossible? And you would be bored'Cause you wouldn't want any other way...
Hold on till the weekend'Cause the weekend I'll get byHold off till the weekend'Cause the man upstairs has the really nice skiesHold off till the weekend'Cause the weekend I'll get highHold off till the weekend'Cause we may look strange but we surely will get by
Lights from the bedroom made halos of hair around her head
And later in silence she lay soft as silk on my bed
She whispered I love you then I placed a kiss on her cheek
And in moments her eyelashes covered her dark eyes in sleep
I lay there in silence as she lived in dreams of her own
Loving her so much the tears down my face warmly flowed
Her soft hair kissed my pillow and curled gold and brown on her cheek
My mind took a picture for a memory that I'd always keep
Saturday morning we laughed and we walked in the park
Having such good times that we lost today to the dark
Sunday came running her mother came promptly at three
Taking my daughter my pride and joy away from me
The week days are so lonely but on Fridays Lord my life begins
Cause I can't have her only on the weekends
Saturday morning we laughed...
Cause something's going down I'm getting ready for the weekend
And I've been waiting so long, it seems like it comes and it's gone
Cause babe you know I'm never gonna sleep until the weekend's dead.
And I just wanna hang out on the beach all day,
Cause I got the kicks for the Monday,
But she got the blues for the Tuesday,
So I got the peace for the Sunday,
And this whole week feels like one day.
And this whole week feels like one day.
Weekends on, go get your weekends on
Go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on
Cause I've been waiting so long, the weekend comes and it's gone
So go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on
Go get your
Cause baby know I'm never gonna sleep until the weekend,
And I'll be there with my friends, we'll play it out to the end
And Shorty's wildin' out while we be chillin in the deep-end,
And now she's callin up her three friends
Cause I got the place to go, the spot where the people all know,
That I got the beats for the Friday,
But she got the tears for the Saturday
And I got the peace for the Sunday,
And this whole week feels like one day
And this whole week feels like one day
Weekends on, go get your weekends on,
Go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on
Cause I've been waiting so long, the weekend comes and it's gone,
So go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on,
Go get your
Chyea! Everybody now, get your weekend on!
We play shows on the move, better bet we never lose,
Paid the dues, took the clues, now we gonna see it through
Starlight and I'm coming home, I'm up before the crack of dawn,
And I won't stop until the whole world's dancing to my fuckin' song!
Weekends on, go get your weekends on
(Go get your) Cause I've been waiting so long, the weekend comes and it's gone,
So go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on,
Go get your
Cause I got the kicks for the Monday,
But she got the blues for the Tuesday,
So I got the peace for the Sunday, (go get your weekends on, go get your)
Go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on,
Go get your
Go get your weekends on, go get your weekends on,
Go get your
And this whole week feels like one day
And this whole week feels like one day
Cause I got the kicks for the Monday,
But she got the blues for the Tuesday,
So I got the peace for the Sunday,
On the bus, make a move
Talking cheap, mirrored view
On a lead without a clue
Take a seat for twenty-two
I see you in the back of the hideout
You stand and walk towards me
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I just wanna know what all the fuss is about
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I just wanna know why they keep checking you out
Hearing talk of big events
Hearing squawk of swig lament
Hearing talk of moments past
Here the words speak twice as fast
I see you in the back of the hideout
You stand and walk towards me
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I just wanna know what all the fuss is about
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I just wanna know why they keep checking you out
You got lost in the basement
Hit your head on the floor
Now your draggin’ those flat feet
Right back to my door
Tell you to go away
You don’t like what I say
You gotta save it for later
Cos there’s no time to go play
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I just wanna know what all the fuss is about
I don’t really wanna know what you do on weekends
I called Chad on Wednesday night
So we could make plans for Thursday night
He said "we could go hit the peapods"
I was like yeah, that's my favorite spot
Plus I like it there, cuz I got love on the list
High powered juice, where I don't even get frisked
Walk up in the place and get love from the misses
Pounds from my brothers, cuz they knowing that disses
The place to be to let it all out
But when the weekend come, the weekend come
Y'all could come
So go tell ya momma come and ya papa come
Go to spin the record so we can get dumb
Place packed, capacity maximum
Due to my man Polo Promotion
And I can't wait to go out and hear some
Jumping music, swift D.J.'s
Smoke machines and laser rays
Look out weekend cuz, here I come
Because weekends were, werrrre
Walk in the club at like 10 o' clock
And the spot is hot, blowing up rooftops
Its Thursday night and the night is young
Four day weekend, time to have some fun
D.J.'s scutter up, drop them joints
Everybody's been waiting to dance and make noise
B-Boys, let me see you break it down
And ladies, let your hips move around
Its the sound of the BEP family
Got a poet named Life and a sister Kimy (worrrrd up)
And the blood of Abraham (worrrrd up)
So let's get ready for the jam
Jumping music, swift D.J.'s
Smoke machines and laser rays
Look out weekend cuz, here I come
Because weekends were, werrrre
It was a Thursday night and the party was bumpin'
And the bass was thumpin' and people was jumpin'
And taboo's at the front door comin'

You don€™t know me
But I€™m sitting next to you
Every morning
On the bus or on the tube
You look tired
Would it help to hear me say
Don€™t you worry
Friday€™s not that far away?
On the weekends
We try to get our share
Of excitement and of fresh air
Trying to forget
Who we€™re gonna be
When the alarm rings
On monday morning
If in the evening
All you do is watch TV
Cause your too tired for anything else
You€™re just like me
Just remember
As you struggle through the day
Relief awaits you
Friday€™s not that far away
You don't know me but I'm sitting next to you
Every morning on the bus or on the tube
You look tired, would it help to hear me say
