Florence, Italy, is a bustling Mediterranean city loaded with delicious Italian food and thousands of years of recorded history.
Florence began 59 B.C., when Julius Caesar’s former soldiers settled along the Arno River. The city, initially called Florentia, grew up around these settlements. Today, the old Roman parts of the city are long gone, but the Piazza della Repubblica features a towering monument—the Column of Abundance—where the ancient Roman main streets met.
Explore some additional history at the Centro Storico, the historic center of the city. This area features a number of medieval buildings, like the breathtaking Florence Cathedral. Centro Storico is also where you can meet Il Porcellino, a bronze boar statue that is something of a mascot for Florence. Put a coin in his mouth for good luck—it can’t hurt, right?
Continue your Florence tour by taking in some of the world’s most stunning religious art, much of it created under the Medici family in the 15th and 16th centuries. You’ll find statues in parks and fountains, as well as outside and inside buildings. Stop by the Uffizi Gallery, which spans a full city block, and view paintings by great artists such as Sandro Botticelli. You’ll also want to visit the Gallery of The Academy to see some of Michelangelo’s seminal work.
On the south side of the Arno River is Palazzo Pitti, one of the Medici family’s residences during the Renaissance. It’s now a large set of galleries, where you can view some of the Medici heirlooms and some of their prized artwork, including pieces by Raphael and Correggio.

In Italy's Tuscany, Florence is a city of art, culture, churches, grand squares and palaces.
At the end of the 14th century, an elite handful of families ruled the city, most notably the Medici, whose highly ostentatious mausoleum was built in the Capelle Medicee.
Pope Eugene the Fourth bequeathed the Dominican orders the ruined Monastery of San Marco and Cosimo De Medici financed the renovation of the site. The main part of the monastery is still inhabited by monks, who pay due deference to its many valuable paintings and works of art.
With pride, and perhaps delusions of grandeur, the people of Florence demonstrated their supremacy over all the other towns of the region and the city has thus succeeded in being a combination of beauty, fortitude and religious belief in which art and culture are today united in magnificent finality.

Bus - Number 14, 22, Or 1 to La Pergola.
Walk - 5 minutes walking distance from Duomo.
So here we are in the narrow streets in Florence walking towards the Oil Shoppe, a famous deli in Florence. The place is usually pretty full. You may have to wait but it is totally worth it. "Hello".
"Hello! Sandwiches in Italy are thought of as.. they make sandwich just to stop the hunger-ness of the moment. It is not like in the United States where it is considered lunch or a meal. I try to combine this American idea, sandwich like meal, with the Italian philosophy for combining food. We do not really have a menu here. We try just to suggest to our customers the best combinations. Ninety-nine percent of my customers are from the United States and one of my sandwiches is based on turkey. I really like to try to make new things. I use a special kind of mustard made by wine apples, that is incredible with blue cheese, with Tuscan salami. You will have to try it."
"It has prosciutto from Parma, nut sauce and balsamic vinegar that has been aged for twelve years" "At the end I try to offer something nice, not too expensive and something you can remember" I am Giulio Frizzi, showing you Florence. Bye!" "A tribute to the animal that everyday makes my business"

I did want to upload it on my main channel because on my vlog channel, i upload small vlogs and i felt like this trip in Italy was special to me and it's something i don't want to forget!
So basically we explored Rome, went to the Colosseum (of course), Vatican City (we stayed near there so it was easy access) and alot more. In the next vlog, I will be taking you to Florence and Pisa so watch out for that!!
See you all in my next video! Ily all ❤️

Description:

A few weeks ago Alex and I went back to Florence to work on a project that we have been working on for some time now. As much as I love Italy though, doing business there has been very slow and challenging so far. For that reason, I won't share more about this project as of right now, until I have something tangible to talk about. My motto in life is: " Less talk, more action". As soon as I have something real and physical, trust me you will be the first one I will share it with. For now, enjoy the vlog and remember to leave a comment. I love reading your feedback and comments!

Danny and Michael tour the best and most popular sights to see through Italy in Venice, Rome, Vatican City, Florence, and Milan. First experiencing the canals of Italy, Danny and Michael take notice of the maze like neighborhoods difficult to navigate through. They end up at the Piazza San Marco, which beacons its beauty throughout Venice Italy.
Next they head over to Rome Italy and take notice of dangerously difficult traffic to navigate through. Great outside views of ancient Rome are viewed at the Roman Forum. Next they head over the the Pantheon and see amazing architecture still left intact. The Colloseum is being renovated at the time but is still a great visit. Then they take a trip over to Florence Italy and see some amazing street performers. as well as the Duomo.
Finally, they visit Milan Italy. Highlights include the Duomo Square for its great outdoor beauty.
Please lthumbs up our video, subscribe, and favorite our video. Video was filmed in August 2006.

The Monster of Florence is an epithet commonly used for the perpetrator, or perpetrators, of 16 murders, nearly all of couples, that took place between 1968 and 1985 in the province of Florence, Italy.
Four local men -- Stefano Mele, Pietro Pacciani, Mario Vanni, and Giancarlo Lotti -- were arrested, charged, and convicted of the crime at different times. However, these convictions have been criticized and ridiculed in the media; critics suggest that the real killer or killers have never been identified. Several other suspects were arrested and held in captivity at various times, but they were later released when subsequent murders using the same weapon and methods cast doubt on the guilt of the suspects held in captivity.

Here's a long drum solo from June 2012. I tried to include lots of different vibes, like complex stuff you have to count to follow and simple grooves where playing melodic fills was required. All and all, I had so much fun that the world disappeared while trying new moves and playing drums. Thanks to Riccardo and Jacopo for toting me around Italy and to Roberto for putting on this particular drum clinic.

In episode 3 of his Grand Tour, Brian Sewell visits Florence. Includes the 'Last of the Medici' scene.
Warning: This video contains personal opinions, do not watch it if you are afraid of hearing something that you might not like! For a purely practical Florence guide visit Rick Steves guide instead at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzDnJi-JeNI However, if you like a highly-opinionated, very critical art/travel guide by an extremely plummy & witty white haired elderly Englishman then watch this instead.
Brian Sewell writes for the London Evening Standard and is noted for artistic conservatism and his acerbic view of the Turner Prize and conceptual art. Sewell has been described as "Britain's most famous and controversial art critic." Brian worked at Christie's auction house, specialising in Old Master paintings and drawings.
The full ten part series is available to buy on DVD as 'Brian Sewell's Grand Tour' in the UK or 'Brian Sewell's Grand Tour of Italy' in the United States.
A wonderful description of Brian from The Guardian's post-filming interview: "An old primrose Mercedes stops on a snowy bend and from its leathery recesses emerges a man with white hair and small, beady eyes, a soft blanket pulled tight around his shoulders against the cold. The man begins to speak, his voice improbably delicate; he sounds like a dowager duchess carefully recalling a large turd she was once mistakenly served during tea at Claridge's."
From the same interview: "On the last day of filming, one of the crew looked him straight in the eye and said: 'We all think it's been absolute hell working with you', a compliment that Sewell simply batted back. He is, rather disingenuously, I would say, highly indignant at what he has learned of television. 'I was promised that it would be my programme. That it would be all my research. I set down my criteria. "Yes, yes, yes," they said. "You can have all that." But my researches were buggered up by some 22-year-old with a degree from Nottingham. The nitwit had no idea. He didn't know if we were in the 18th or the 19th century and had me, as it were, chasing after Browning and the phenomenon of Chiantishire. I think simply this: they [TV people] are fundamentally unserious. They know nothing. They see things only in their own petty, boxed-in terms, and they cannot understand it when they have a presenter who has no vanity.'
In particular, he hated the way he was expected to come up with pictures. If he mentioned a duel, swordsmen would be booked; if he mentioned dancing, music would be arranged. He found all this ridiculous, as you can see in one scene when a young 'nobleman' and his lady can be seen prancing around to, bizarrely, the sound of a hurdy-gurdy. For a while, Sewell watches, poker-faced. Then, unable to contain himself any longer, he explodes with laughter. It is to their credit that the people at Five have kept the laughter in.
'It's moronic,' he says. 'Moronic. The day-by-day tedium of it. Nine weeks. What hell. "
Despite Brian's suffering, I rather enjoyed the series. Which by the way, was filmed in reverse, starting in Venice. What a treasure he is.
The full interview can be read here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/2005/nov/13/art

In the Footsteps of the Poets
Beginning in Liguria, a region bordered by mountains and a beautiful rocky coastline which inspired the English Romantic poets, Andrew Graham-Dixon and Giorgio Locatelli travel along the west coast of Italy, exploring the culture and cuisine of the diverse regions. Their first stop is the city of Genoa, once a great maritime republic, whose former glory is reflected it its opulent Baroque palaces with their imposing facades, glamorous decor and splendid paintings by artists such as Van Dyck and Bernardo Strozzi. In contrast to these grand statements of wealth, Giorgio makes the simple dish that the city is famous for - pesto alla genovese. The two travellers' then move on to the Cinque Terre, a rugged portion of coastline featuring a national park and five picturesque villages seemingly wedged into the cliff face beside sea. Finally, Andrew and Giorgio cross over into Tuscany and, managing to stay off the tourist trail, visit a hidden gem of Renaissance art in Pistoia and one of Pisa's best-kept secrets. They finish back by the sea at the port city of Livorno, where the fishermen's catch of the day dictates the menu.
