The llama (Lama glama) is a domesticated South American camelid, widely used as a meat and pack animal by Andean cultures since pre-Hispanic times.
The height of a full-grown, full-size llama is 1.7 to 1.8 m (5.5 to 6.0 ft) tall at the top of the head, and can weigh between 130 to 200 kilograms (280 to 450 lb). At birth, a baby llama (called a cria) can weigh between 9 and 14 kilograms (20 and 30 lb). Llamas can live for a period of about 20–30 years depending on how well they are taken care of.[citation needed] Llamas are very social animals and live with other llamas as a herd. The wool produced by a llama is very soft and lanolin-free. Llamas are intelligent and can learn simple tasks after a few repetitions. When using a pack, llamas can carry about 25% to 30% of their body weight for 5-8 miles.
The name llama (in the past also spelled 'lama' or 'glama') was adopted by European settlers from native Peruvians.
Llamas appear to have originated from the central plains of North America about 40 million years ago. They migrated to South America about 3 million years ago. By the end of the last ice age (10,000–12,000 years ago), camelids were extinct in North America. As of 2007, there were over 7 million llamas and alpacas in South America and, due to importation from South America in the late 20th century, there are now over 158,000 llamas and 100,000 alpacas in the US and Canada.

Lion: What are you animals doing on *my* hill?::Elephant: This is the only green spot left... or was.::Crocodile: Was is right! What happened here, anyway?::Lioness: Noah came here a few weeks ago and cut down all the trees!::Lion: Said he was sorry, but he had to build a big boat!::Elephantess: A boat? What would would he want with a boat?::Elephant: *That's* ridiculous! There's no deep water for maybe a thousand miles!::Lion: That's right! But he went ahead and he built one anyway.::Lioness: If you don't believe us, look for yourselves!
Elephant: [amidst ruins of city] Man chased all the animals away to build this place.::Crocodile: So he moves on and leaves us with *his* mistakes!
Elephant: Uh, *imagine*! A boat on a farm!::Lion: And Noah's been working day and night!::Lioness: We can't get a wink of sleep!::Crocodile: [scorning] So what's his hurry? He sure isn't going anywhere in *that* contraption!::Female Raven: Unless he puts wheels on it!
The animals: [after hearing Noah appointed him to find land] The *raven*?::Noah: Now, there are good reasons for this!::Female Raven: *I* can't even think of any! [the others in her group chuckle]
This view of the clouds is golden in worth
But what?s there to see if not planted on earth
The sun warms the ground that?s under my feet
But your roots grow so deeper than these city streets
Your not alone, you?re just chasing the sun
To see the new day first chasing the sun
For all that it is worth chasing the sun
I lick my lips of morning dew
I feel the rush of this pursuit
I know the sky must fall in time
But rising from the streets we find
We?re not alone, we?re just chasing the sun
To see the new day first chasing the sun
For all that it is worth chasing the sun
To see the new day first chasing the sun
For all that it is worth you?re not alone
We?re not alone, we?re just chasing the sun
To see the new day first chasing the sun
Some will go blindly into the night
Others will see by a candle?s light
But we?ve got a fire that burns from the core
Pushing us towards something more
[Many years after the overthrow of Wilson, a rebel soldier crouching high on a hilltop above the war torn forests of Gamehendge spots a group of loyalists approaching from their lakeside encampment below. His trusty llama stands beside him, loaded down with a canvas pack that holds two large bazooka type guns to the animal's sides. Near the man sits a cache of blastoplast, each capable of destroying the entire hillside in an instant...]
Sunrise over the turquoise mountains, messenger birds in sight
They came up through the valley, both sides at a time
Through the cold steady rain Raid! I bend down
Poke a double decker on a llama. Llama, Taboot Taboot
Trigger a blastoplast, ramshackle laker recedes I start to run
It was the loudest thing I'd ever heard And I knew my time had come
To enter the delta
Leave it on press, depress, depress.
In the lights of the blues exchange
In the clutches of the groove
How many times must these lights change?
Before I make my move
From across an empty street, I
Saw you on the corner waiting
For the moment we would meet
And the questions it would bring
Now you come to me
Tell me you've been thinking
And we're back where we began
Was it not enough?
That I loved you
And we're back where we began
In your mind is a perfect world
In your eyes it's crumbling
Now in my arms is this lovely girl
And my heart is trembling between the beats
Now you come to me
Tell me you've been thinking
And we're back where we began
Was it not enough?
That I loved you
And we're back where we began
Now you come to me
Tell me you've been thinking
Woman, that we're back where we began
Was it not enough?
That I loved you
And we're back where we began
Now you come to me
Tell me you've been thinking
And we're back where we began
Was it not enough?
That I loved you
I can see the world from here
High above the hills
Fly to catch your fallin' tears
Fly to your windowsill
Beside, with the gorgeous blue
Breathe like it's the last thing you'll do
Cry, so I will fly to you
Fly when the days go
I know what I have to do
But I promise I'll be home soon
And it's true, that when I can
I'll fly to you, fly to you
Swim beneath the waterline
Plunge into the soil
I dig myself a place to lie
You'll need a box of wood and foil
But you'll take the papers off
And scramble up my heart
Tie me up in balls of yarn
So no one ever knows
I know what I have to do
But I promise I'll be home soon
And it's true, that when I can
I'll fly to you, oh
I can see the world from here
I
I know what I have to do
But I promise I'll be home soon
Oh, and it's true, that when I can
I'll fly to you
Three white cars passed me by,
I could see the clouds
In their windshields.
Three white stars in a twilight sky,
And now that
The clouds are gone
I see,
One more that catches my eye,
I see,
Into the heart of the sky,
I see,
Something I tasted long ago
That was coming back to me
Come back.
I remember you reminded me
Of the subtleties
The little things that make your day
And the rain moves on
As the tide rolls in
In just a few days I'll still be here,
But you'll be far
Far away.
So one last time I hold you near
And save the hero
For another day
I remember you reminded me
Of the subtleties
The little things that make your day
And the rain moves on
As the tide rolls in
And the distance between us
Wouldn't seem so long
If we knew that one of those birds
Still left up in the sky
Gave a cry as he witnessed
One of those moments that you and I
Both look at the stars in the twilight sky
And count ONE, TWO, THREE
And one more that catches my eye
I remember you reminded me
Of the subtleties
The little things that make your day
And the rain moves on
As the tide rolls in
I can see the world from here
High above the hills
Fly to catch your fallin' tears
Fly to your windowsill
Beside, with the gorgeous blue
Breathe like it's the last thing you'll do
Cry, so I will fly to you
Fly when the days go
I know what I have to do
But I promise I'll be home soon
And it's true, that when I can
I'll fly to you, fly to you

But I promise I'll be home soon
And it's true, that when I can
I'll fly to you, oh
I can see the world from here
I know what I have to do
But I promise I'll be home soon
Oh, and it's true, that when I can
You set out to change the world
With the subtlety in your song
They?re the same old truths
That you?ve been singing all along
But still your biggest fear
Is finding out that you?ve been wrong
It?s all you ever wanted
Just over the horizon
It?s all you ever wanted
I can hear it in your song
It?s been there all along
You watch the rising sun
Holding tightly to your dreams
Knowing deep inside
That the world?s not what it seems
But when you think you?ve hit a wall
It?s just a mirror after all
It?s all you ever wanted
Just over the horizon
It?s all you ever wanted
I can hear it in your song
It?s been there all along
It?s all you ever wanted
Just over the horizon
It?s all you ever wanted
I can hear it in your song
It?s been there all along
It?s all you ever wanted
Just over the horizon
It?s all you ever wanted
I can hear it in your song
Lately I've been so slow to answer
I've been choosing my words carefully
Give me some time and a clear head
And I'll tell you everything I've seen
I'll tell you everything
I've got a lifetime of things to say
So softly spoken from within
So listen, close to the silence
You will find peace again
Suddenly every thing's so far away
In my ear there's a whisper among the cries
So I try to see past the illusion
But the world gets into my eyes
I've got a lifetime of things to say
So softly spoken from within
So listen, close to the silence
There are voices on the wind
So listen close to the silence
You will find peace again
Then through the noise I heard you say
You'll find your way
So see me now a wandering child
Searching for peace 'cause
I've got a lifetime of things to say
So softly spoken from within
So listen, close to the silence
There are voices on the wind
So listen close to the silence
Well, you never know what the day may bring
?Cause tonight I'm dancing for the spring
What springs from your heart?
What rolls from the tip of your tongue?
First it blossoms then it falls as fruit for the young
The fruit for the young, yeah
But there's no time to waste
For there are songs we haven't sung
And none but us can taste
All the sweetness of the fruit for the young
Can you show me what darkness means
By opening my eyes I hook into this scene
And those who've gone before us are seen again
In the sparkle in the eyes of the children
Of those who once led the fruit of the dead
For the young, for the young
There's no time to waste
For there are songs we haven't sung
And none but us can taste
All the sweetness of fruit for the young
Well, you never know what the day may bring
?Cause tonight I'm dancing for the spring
What springs from your heart?
What rolls from the tip of your tongue?
First it blossoms then it falls as fruit for the young
The fruit for the young
The fruit for the young
Pull the curtains and
Close the blinds
I can't see my way and I
Don't know what I might find
I dress myself
For the night ahead
I don't when or if
I'll be returning to my bed
…Can you tell me?
Can I trust you?
To lead me to
To my sanctuary
Can I trust you?
To lift me up, if I fall
And carry me high
I call my own name
But it don't sound the same at all
Can I change my mind?
Can I change before I fall?
And if I drop this ball
Will its weight crush me?
Is it fate that I'd see this?
If it's not what could it be?
…Can you tell me?
Can I trust you?
To lead me to
To my sanctuary
Can I trust you?
To lift me up, if I fall
And carry me high
Comfort me
Build me up
Until we reach the end, and then
Challenge me
Break me down
Until I've got nothing left to defend
I find my peace
…When you tell me
I can trust you
To lead me to
To my sanctuary
I can trust you
To lift me up, if I fall
And carry me high
Chalk up another bridge
That I've burnt
Before I crossed
I'd like another chance
To to to win back
Whatever I lost
What did I say?
What did I say to you?
To push you away
What can I do?
What can I do?
To be for you, the hero of your day
Sand through my fingers
Always returns to the waves
Love runs like water
For you keep slippin' away
Another dance, one
More advance
And you escape my kiss
But you must understand
A mortal man can be nothin'
When his love is missed
Here you are before me
Like a brick wall, beautiful and tall
I try to get through
But I don't want to harm you
Here I am like a tidal wave
Or a ripple on the lake
I try to seem strong
But only time can charm you
But sand through my fingers
Always returns to the waves
And love runs like water
You keep slippin' away
I try
To be the hero of your day
Was I so blind?
I let you slip away
I try
To be the hero of your day
Was I so blind?
I let you slip away
I try
To be the hero of your day
Was I so blind?
I let you slip away
I try
To be the hero of your day
Was I so blind?
Let's have another round for
the boys
For lending me a shoulder to cry on
Let's turn it up and make some noise
And together we will strive on
'Cause I can't shake you from
my dreams
No matter how hard I try
And though it may not be as bad
as it seems
Right now I feel like I could die
We've been playin' this game
For so long
Don't you think I know the
rules by now
I don't want to think that you
Are doin' me wrong
But now you want to go
Another round
One could say that
I've spilled the beans
I told you everything I feel
Maybe you don't know just
what I mean
But baby I know this is for real
'Cause we've been playin' this game
For so long
Don't you think I know the
rules by now
I don't want to think that you
Are doin' me wrong
But now you want to go
Another round
And when you want me I'm too busy
And when I want you I'm too late
But you and I both know
we'll make it
We'll make it
'Cause we've been playin' this game
For so long
Don't you think I know the
rules by now
I don't want to think that you
Are doin' me wrong
But now you want to go
Another round
Life is but a dream
And dreams can tell a lifetime
Frame by frame
The times you have seen
As they slowly slip your mind
You're all around me
But too close to see
You're at my fingertips
But just out of reach
And I don't want
To believe
Time is a great sea
And I'm thrown like a tiny ship
Life is in the air we breathe
As it slowly escapes our lips
You're all around me
But too close to see
You're at my fingertips
But just out of reach
And I don't want
To believe
I don't want
To believe
All in all it was a good day
I mean it could've been worse
But I couldn't help but curse
My fate
Once again my timing's all wrong
Once again I'm a little bit too late
I forgot about real-time
So lost in how you remind me
Of the dream that got away
But this all
Too much, too soon for you
In the middle of paradise
I would still cry for the moon
Too much, too soon for you
But if I'd just let this one wait
It'd be too little, too late
Yesterday was the first day
That I felt this way
Just what it was I couldn't say
Maybe it's your playful spirit
Maybe it's your voice
When I hear it I could give thanks
To the heavens above
On the reservoir banks I found love
In the dream that turned me away
But this all
Too much, too soon for you
In the middle of paradise
I would still cry for the moon
Too much, too soon for you
But if I'd just let this one wait
It'd be too little, too late
Too much, too soon for you
In the middle of paradise
I would still cry for the moon
Too much, too soon for you
But if I'd just let this one wait
It'd be too little, too late
All in all it's a good thing
Things worked out this way
We both know you couldn't stay
