The September 11 attacks (also referred to as September 11, September 11th or 9/11) were a series of four suicide attacks that were committed in the United States on September 11, 2001, coordinated to strike the areas of New York City and Washington, D.C. On that Tuesday morning, 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets. The hijackers intentionally piloted two of those planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City; both towers collapsed within two hours. The hijackers also intentionally crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and intended to pilot the fourth hijacked jet, United Airlines Flight 93, into the United States Capitol Building[2] in Washington, D.C.; however, the plane crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania after its passengers attempted to take control of the jet from the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks, including the 246 civilians and 19 hijackers aboard the four planes, none of whom survived.
Suspicion quickly fell on al-Qaeda, and in 2004, the group's leader Osama bin Laden, who had initially denied involvement, claimed responsibility for the attacks.[1] Al-Qaeda and bin Laden cited U.S. support of Israel, the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions against Iraq as motives for the attacks. The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terror and invading Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, which had harbored al-Qaeda. Many countries strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded law enforcement powers. In May 2011, after years at large, bin Laden was located and killed.
The destruction of the Twin Towers caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan and had a significant impact on global markets. Cleanup of the World Trade Center site was completed in May 2002, and the Pentagon was repaired within a year. Numerous memorials were constructed, including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, the Pentagon Memorial, and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania. After a lengthy delay, the 1,776-foot-tall (541 m) One World Trade Center is expected to be completed at ground zero in New York by 2013.

May this sinister act never be repeated to our Country Again!
The September 11 attacks resulted in 2,996 immediate (attack time) deaths: 2,977 victims and the 19 hijackers. A total of 372 foreign nationals (excluding the 19 perpetrators) perished in the attacks, representing just over 12% of the total. The immediate deaths include 246 victims on the four planes (from which there were no survivors), 2,606 in New York City in the World Trade Center and on the ground, and 125 at the Pentagon. About 292 people were killed at street level by burning debris and falling bodies of those who had jumped or fallen from the World Trade Center's windows.

The US is marking the anniversary of the nine-eleven attacks 14 years after the World Trade Center’s twin towers in New York were hit by passenger planes.
Thousands of people, including victims’ relatives gathered at ground zero in New York where a moment of silence was observed. The names of some three-thousand people who perished in the attacks were read out at the event. In Washington, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama joined White House Staff to observe a moment of silence at the time of the first attack. At the Pentagon, US Defense Secretary Ash Carter and other officials joined remembrances for the relatives of victims and Pentagon employees. Back in 2001, a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks hit the US on the morning of September 11. The two first planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New York while another hit the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. A fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The September 11 attacks (also referred to as September 11, September 11th, or 9/11)[nb 1] were a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda on the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001. The attacks consisted of suicide attacks used to target symbolic U.S. landmarks.
Four passenger airliners—which all departed from airports on the U.S. East Coast bound for California—were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists to be flown into buildings. Two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. Within an hour and 42 minutes, both 110-story towers collapsed, with debris and the resulting fires causing partial or complete collapse of all other buildings in the World Trade Center complex, including the 47-story 7 World Trade Center tower, as well as significant damage to ten other large surrounding structures. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon (the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense) in Arlington County, Virginia, leading to a partial collapse in the Pentagon's western side. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, initially was steered toward Washington, D.C., but crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers. In total, the attacks claimed the lives of 2,996 people (including the 19 hijackers) and caused at least $10 billion in property and infrastructure damage.[2][3] It was the deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers[4] in the history of the United States, with 343 and 72 killed respectively.
Suspicion for the attack quickly fell on al-Qaeda. The United States responded to the attacks by launching the War on Terror and invading Afghanistan to depose the Taliban, which had harbored al-Qaeda. Many countries strengthened their anti-terrorism legislation and expanded the powers of law enforcement and intelligence agencies to prevent terrorist attacks. Although al-Qaeda's leader, Osama bin Laden, initially denied any involvement, in 2004, he claimed responsibility for the attacks.[1] Al-Qaeda and bin Laden cited U.S. support of Israel, the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions against Iraq as motives. Having evaded capture for almost a decade, bin Laden was located and killed by members of the U.S. military in May 2011.
The destruction of the World Trade Center and nearby infrastructure caused serious damage to the economy of Lower Manhattan and had a significant effect on global markets, closing Wall Street until September 17 and the civilian airspace in the U.S. and Canada until September 13. Many closings, evacuations, and cancellations followed, out of respect or fear of further attacks. Cleanup of the World Trade Center site was completed in May 2002, and the Pentagon was repaired within a year. On November 18, 2006, construction of One World Trade Center began at the World Trade Center site. The building was officially opened on November 3, 2014.[5] Numerous memorials have been constructed, including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, the Pentagon Memorial in Arlington County, and the Flight 93 National Memorial in a field near

9/11 Attacks Conspiracy - Disturbing Truth - September 11th Mystery Solved.
What really did happen on September 11, 2001? Did airlines follow homing beacons into the World Trade Centre? Was the Pentagon stuck not by a jet but by a missile? Was there a close link between the Bush and Bin Laden families and could that help explain the failure to avert the attacks? This program examines the rise of such theories and finds they are all too often based on legitimate yet unanswered questions about 9-11 and the war on terror. This program sorts fact from fiction, debunks the myths and uncovers some new and surprising revelations about a turbulent and confusing time. The common denominator of most 9-11 conspiracy theories is that somehow the US government knew the attacks were coming, yet still let them take place.

New York is capital city of the American Dream, with its population drawn from each corner of the world. The Empire State Building is a symbol of the glamour and fascination of this frenetic city, yet the Chrysler building is just as imposing, its unusual tower being decorated with car motifs such as bonnets, hub caps and car wheels of the 1930‘s. Wall Street derived its name from a wall which had been erected to protect the emerging town from attack by Native American Indians and now most of the city is an open powerhouse of ceaseless activity with a constant mêlée of car horns, sirens, and screeching tyres.Greenwich Village is one of the few areas of the city that has no clearly-defined symmetry. Attractive steps grace many of its 19th century houses of red brick and brown sandstone and, until the 1960‘s, many important artists and authors lived there, such as Edgar Allen Poe and Henry James. Little Italy, Chinatown, The Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, Broadway, Times Square…each has its own colourful stories to tell amid the fantastic man-made Manhattan glass horizons: the skyscrapers which shamelessly reach up to the heavens and exclaim that New York is most assuredly the commercial capital of the universe.

National September 11 Memorial and Museum
====================================================
One of New York's most evocative memorials opened on 11 September 2011, 10 years after the terrorist attack that destroyed the World Trade Center and claimed nearly 3,000 lives. Names of everyone killed that day surround two bronze reflecting pools set inside the footprints of the twin towers. A museum dedicated to the events surrounding September 11 is scheduled to open in 2013. Visitor passes to the memorial, for a specific date and time, can be reserved on the website. Passes for same-day visits are also available on a first-come, first-served basis at the memorial. The building is close to the new, striking 541m-high (1,776ft) One World Trade Center, the city's tallest building.

Statue of Liberty
==============
The ultimate symbol of the American Dream, Lady Liberty, standing majestically over New York Harbor, is probably the most famous landmark in America. The people of France donated the statue in 1886, to commemorate the alliance during the American Revolution. It was the first sight of the New World to be seen by the 12 million immigrants who passed through Ellis Island in the early and mid 20th century. Limited tickets to visit the crown are available by advance reservation. Park rangers give guided tours. Unfortunately, Liberty Island will be inaccessible during October 2013's US shutdown.

Ground Zero, where the Twin Towers stood in New York on the day of the September 11th terrorist attacks, is now the site of the 911 Memorial. It's located only a few hundred feet from the new One World Trade center Building, which is still known as "Freedom Tower" by many tourists and visitors to New York.
The 911 Memorial is a somber yet inspiring place to visit in New York. It's a beautiful setting to memorialize and remember those who died on September 11, 2001, but it's also exhilarating to see the huge new building beside it that has risen as a symbol of the resilient spirit of America and Americans.
If you visit Ground Zero, be prepared to go through airport-like security before you enter the actual 911 grounds. It's also a good idea to buy your tickets online in advance if you can. Lines can be long at the entrance, but if you already have passes you've printed from your computer, you can save a lot of time by bypassing the main line.

There's a lot of symbolism in One World Trade Center. Standing at an iconic 1776 feet tall, it's said to be the strongest building in the world; earthquake, storm and attack-resistant. A symbol of hope and the enduring strength of a city that was knocked down and got up again. On the Walks Of New York small group World Trade Center tour you'll travel with a local tour guide for a more personal take on the sites and events that unfolded here. You'll hear harrowing personal stories of tragedy and loss on September 11th; visit the most important sites to pay tribute to victims and firefighters; see the Survivor's Tree to learn of New York's battle to rebuild; and finish on a high with a visit to One World Observatory.
Your tour starts at St. Paul's Chapel; familiar to most from the footage and videos beamed around the world after the 9/11 terror attacks. This is where families and friends gathered to pray for their loved ones, support each other and await news from the wreckage.
Your first visit sets a more personal tone for your World Trade Center tour. Together with your small group and guide you'll move on to the American Express Eleven Tears Memorial to hear stories of the eleven colleagues who perished here, and to the stunning Winter Gardens rebuilt now even more beautiful than ever.
Speaking of beautiful, the two reflecting pools built in the footprint of the towers are a sight to behold. Lined with the names of every victim of the attacks, they're a striking reminder of the scale of the tragedy, while roses (a single rose is placed on the name of every victim on the day of their birthday) humanize the great memorial.
Your guide will lead you around the World Trade Center Memorial adding a more personal side to the sites as you pass them. Visit the Fireman's Memorial to learn of the heroic men and women who worked around the clock; many of them sacrificing themselves to save hundreds of lives. At the Survivor Tree you'll hear how after surviving the attack, the tree was weaned back to health by New Yorkers, becoming a symbol for their own recovery and resilience.
For many visitors the 9/11 Memorial is a daunting visit; the size and gravity so momentous that the reality is almost unfathomable. Traveling with an expert local tour guide in small groups, your experience will be more personal and insightful. Through their stories and anecdotes your guide will help you come to terms with the sites you visit, pointing out details and taking you to sites you may not have visited on your own.
End on a high with a visit to the One World Observatory which offers not just a breathtaking 360-degree view over NYC; but a full 360-degree experience too; with video commentary about the builders who created the tower and details of the structure itself.
With pre-reserved entrance, your visit is guaranteed, regardless of the crowds. Enter One World Trade Center and hop onboard one of the "Sky Pods" - incredible elevators that shoot from the first floor to 102nd in just 43 seconds. As you ascend the pods light up with LED technology, animating the changing skyline of New York from the 1600s to present day, and the program even changes depending on the time of day you visit.
Having explored the tragedy and loss of 9/11 at ground level, you'll end your tour on a high. Step out of the Sky Pod and into a circular room with floor to ceiling windows for the most spectacular 360-degree views New York has ever seen. Enjoy an independent visit at your leisure, staying for as long as you like to soak up the views.

Belém (Portuguese pronunciation: [beˈlẽj]) is a Brazilian municipality, the capital and largest city of the state of Pará in the country's north. It is the gateway to the River Amazon with a busy port, airport, and bus/coach station. Belém lies approximately 100 km upriver from the Atlantic Ocean, on the Pará River, which is part of the greater Amazon River system, separated from the larger part of the Amazon delta by Ilha de Marajó (Marajo Island). With an estimated population of 1,402,056 people — or 2,249,405, considering its metropolitan area — it is the 11th most populous city in Brazil, as well as the 16th by economic relevance. It is the second largest in the North Region, second only to Manaus, in the state of Amazonas,
Founded in 1616 by the Kingdom of Portugal, Belém was the first European colony on the Amazon but did not become part of Brazil until 1775. The newer part of the city has modern buildings and skyscrapers. The colonial portion retains the charm of tree-filled squares, churches and traditional blue tiles. The city has a rich history and architecture from colonial times. Recently it witnessed a skyscraper boom.
Belém, literally Bethlehem is also known as the Metropolis of the Brazilian Amazon region or the Cidade das Mangueiras (City of Mango Trees) due to the vast number of those trees found in the city. Brazilians often refer to the city as Belém do Pará ("Belém of Pará") rather than just Belém, a reference to an earlier name for the city, Santa Maria de Belém do Grão Pará, and also to differentiate it from a number of other towns called Belém in Brazil. It is named after Santa Maria de Belém in Lisbon, also better known by its shortened name, Belém.
Belém is served by two airports: Val de Cães International Airport, which connects the city with the rest of Brazil and other cities in South America, and Brig. Protásio de Oliveira Airport (Júlio César) Airport dedicated to general aviation. The city is also home to the Federal University of Pará.
Manaus (Portuguese pronunciation: [mɐˈnaws] or [mɐˈnawʃ]), or Manáos before 1939, or (formerly) Lugar de Barra do Rio Negro, is the capital city of the state of Amazonas in northern Brazil. It is situated at the confluence of the Negro and Solimões rivers. With a population of two million, it is the most populous city of Amazonas, and also the most populous city of the Amazon rainforest.
The city was founded in 1693-94 as the Fort of São José do Rio Negro. It was elevated to a town in 1832 with the name of "Manaus", an altered spelling of the indigenous Manaós peoples, and legally transformed into a city on October 24, 1848, with the name of Cidade da Barra do Rio Negro, Portuguese for "The City of the Margins of Black River". On September 4, 1856 it returned to its original name.
Manaus is located in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, and access to the city is primarily through boat or airplane. This isolation helped preserve both the nature as well as the culture of the city. The culture of Manaus, more than in any other urban area of Brazil, preserves the habits of Native Brazilian tribes. The city is the main entrance to visit the fauna and flora of the Brazilian Amazon. Few places in the world afford such a variety of plants, birds, insects, and fishes.
It was known at the beginning of the century, as "Heart of the Amazon" and "City of the Forest". Currently its main economic engine is the Industrial Pool of Manaus, the famous Free Economic Zone. The city has a free port and an international airport. Its manufactures include electronics, chemical products, and soap; there are distilling and ship construction industries. Manaus also exports Brazil nuts, rubber, jute and rosewood oil. It has a cathedral, opera house, zoological and botanical gardens, an ecopark and regional and native peoples museums.
With a population of 2 million people in 2014, Manaus is the most populous city in the Brazilian Amazon area and the 7th most populous in the country.Located on the north bank of the Negro River, 11 miles (18 km) above the meeting of the rivers where the Negro merges with the Solimões, Manaus is 900 miles (1,450 km) inland from the Atlantic Ocean. It is the hub of tourism for the rivers, the jungle lodges and the river cruises.
The Solimões and Negro rivers meet in Manaus and join to form the Amazon River (using the Brazilian definition of the river; elsewhere, Solimões is considered the upper part of the Amazon). Rubber made it the richest city in South America during the late 1800s. Rubber also helped Manaus earn its nickname, the "Paris of the Tropics". Many wealthy European families settled in Manaus and brought their love for sophisticated European art, architecture and culture with them. Manaus is also a duty-free zone, which has encouraged development in the region.

Munich, Germany Travel Guide http://bit.ly/13qHjF4
Shepherd Entertainment takes you on a tour of the Olympic stadium in Munich, built for the 1972 Olympic games.
In 1965 in Rome, the right of organizing the Olympic Games was supported to Munich. The planning lasted for four years in the Behnisch company architectural studio. The ceremonial laying of the foundation stone was in June 1969. Munich was bombed to the ground during the war and cleverly made use of the neglected field where so far only debris had been accumulating.
Rudolf Belling, six meter high were called peace monument was erected on top of the 52 meter high re-cultivated hill. The big stadium is quite a special site. Its grand stands are protected by wavy acrylic glass fastened on a steel frame work. A 75,000 m2 tent roof is a unique technical solution. Its supporting cables are stretched on steel columns with a height which varies between 12 and 81 meters.
With its budget of 168 million German Marks, it was the most expensive in the modern history of the Olympics. The stadium can hold 78,000 spectators where the similarly looking multi functional sport hall has a capacity of 14,000. The 290 meter high Olympic Tower rises above the park. An express lift goes up to its restaurant which provides a wonderful panorama. The formation of the Olympic village is also interesting and can even be exemplary for the future. On the surface, there are no roads for vehicles, just pedestrian zones, bicycle paths and parks. Cars can reach the underground garages through passages.
The multi story housing of the Olympic village where the sportsmen where accommodated have been sold as flats while the single story houses for the women have become a dormitory for 1800 students.
The Olympic swimming pool has five pools and can hold 6000 people as can the ice skating rink and the bicycle stadium. This enormous amount of work and money were almost made futile when terrorists pulled off violent attack against Israeli athletes. Until September 11, 2001 no further such brutal incident has occurred in the civilized world. Steven Spielberg's film entitle, "Munich" is about this terrorist attack.
Among the hills, an 85 m2 artificial lake was made from the dumped up channel. A special open area stage is situated on the lake. The stage floats on the lake while the audience of 3000 sits in a semicircular amphitheater around the lake.

Mossel Bay (Afrikaans: Mosselbaai) is a harbour town of about 60,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.
The town's economy relied heavily on farming, fishing and its commercial harbour (the smallest in the Transnet Port Authority's stable of South African commercial harbours), until the 1969 discovery of natural offshore gas fields led to the development of the gas-to-liquids refinery operated by PetroSA. Tourism is another driver of Mossel Bay's economy.

Mossel Bay is a bustling holiday town and port, set on the sunwashed slopes of Cape St Blaize overlooking the expansive bay, against the blueblack backdrop of the Outeniqua Mountains.
Mossel Bay lies halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, close to the towns of Swellendam, Outdshoorn, Plettenberg Bay and Knysna on the Garden Route and is synonymous with the Mossgas project, where offshore gas fields are mined for gas that is then converted into petroleum.
Despite this obvious industrial leaning, Mossel Bay has a tradition of unhurried hospitality and there is sufficient natural beauty in the town and its surrounds to make a stopover essential. Mossel Bay features in the Guiness Book of Records as having the mildest all-year climate in the world, second only to Hawaii. Add to this the long stretch of beaches, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, a championship golf course or two and Mossel Bay becomes an ideal retreat for both summer and winter.
Mossel Bay has a significant history and there are a number of historic houses worth a visit, including about 200 stone homes built a century ago by Cornish stonemasons. She received her present name in 1601 when the Dutch navigator, Paulus van Caerden found a collection of mussel shells in a cave at the headland of Cape St Blaize although Mossel Bay was ‘discovered’ as far back as 1488, when Dias first encountered the ancient Khoi-San people upon stepping ashore.
