Sikh soldiers since time immemorial have been in the forefront of many wars around the world. During World War II, 3400 Sikh soldiers laid down their lives to seek freedom for Malaya and this was proven in the historic Battle of Kampar, 1941.
It is estimated that there are around 100,000 Sikhs in Malaysia.

The attacks on places of worship in Malaysia escalated with yet another attack - this time against a Sikh temple in Sentul where stones were thrown damaging a glass door.
Police found about 20 golf-ball sized stones near the cracked window pane of the entrance door to the 100-year-old Gurdwara Sahib Sentul temple yesterday evening.
Temple volunteers who were doing gardening said they heard sound of broken glass at 6.45pm and went to investigate. One of the volunteers, who is a police officer, informed the police about the attack.
Temple committee chairperson Gurdiall Singh, 57, said that no one spotted the assailants. He said that the Sikh scripture use the contentious word 'Allah'. Temple officials are urging devotees to remain calm.

Rishiwant Singh, Humanitarian Aid Coordinator interview's students from the Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar during the Annual Gurmat Parchaar Samelan 2014 organised by Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. About 1000 participants from 10 countries come to Malaysia to participate in the camp. The one week camp comprises leadership training, prayers, games and many other interesting activities. Sewadars from throughout the world gather during this camp to help their fellow brothers and sisters in learning the Sikh way of life. It is wonderful combination of this band of selfless sewadars and participants that makes the samelan a land of beauty – a moment that always brings sweet and thrilling memories.

The attacks on places of worship in Malaysia escalated with yet another attack - this time against a Sikh temple in Sentul where stones were thrown damaging a glass door. Police found about 20 golf-ball sized stones near the cracked window pane of the entrance door to the 100-year-old Gurdwara Sahib Sentul temple yesterday evening. Temple volunteers who were doing gardening said they heard sound of broken glass at 6.45pm and went to investigate. One of the volunteers, who is a police officer, informed the police about the attack. Temple committee chairperson Gurdiall Singh, 57, said that no one spotted the assailants. He said that the Sikh scripture use the contentious word 'Allah'. Temple officials are urging devotees to remain calm. -

Rishiwant Singh, Humanitarian Aid Coordinator interview's students from the Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar during the Annual Gurmat Parchaar Samelan 2014 organised by Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. About 1000 participants from 10 countries come to Malaysia to participate in the camp. The one week camp comprises leadership training, prayers, games and many other interesting activities. Sewadars from throughout the world gather during this camp to help their fellow brothers and sisters in learning the Sikh way of life. It is wonderful combination of this band of selfless sewadars and participants that makes the samelan a land of beauty – a moment that always brings sweet and thrilling memories.

In this travel video travel guide to Malaysia, I travel to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, and to Terangganu, the country's second-largest city. I start off my trip by exploring Kenyir Lake, located just west of Terangganu, which is actually the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia (it's the size of Singapore). I head to the far end of the lake by speedboat to go trekking into the hilly jungle where I come across a school of hungry fish waiting for eager tourists like myself to provide them with a cheap snack. I start off my trip by exploring Kenyir Lake, located just west of Terangganu, which is actually the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia (it's the size of Singapore). I head to the far end of the lake by speedboat to go trekking into the hilly jungle where I come across a school of hungry fish waiting for eager tourists like myself to provide them with a cheap snack. I then head back on the lake to explore the many islands that call this lake home.
Next, I head back onto the water -- this time onto the ocean -- to do a little squid jigging as part of the first annual Terengganu International Squid Jigging Fest. Squid jigging, for those of you that don't know, is the act of fishing for squid by hand with a line and hook, something I have questionable skill doing.
Back onto dry land, I explore the market in Terangganu, one of the best places to find fresh seafood in the entire country, and try some of the region's favorite desserts and iced coffee.
For the second half of the video, I head east to the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, where I -- what else? -- find some street food in the famous Chow Kit neighborhood, followed by a little more food in Kampung Baru, a sleeping Malay enclave flanked by the city's downtown tower.
I then take the monorail (!) to explore the Petronas Towers and the KL Tower, two of the city's most famous landmarks, followed by dinner in Jalan Alor, the city's famed outdoor street food district.
Finally, it's time for a little rest and relaxation back on the west coast of Malaysia at the island of Redang, one of the country's most beautiful tropical islands, where I get to experience what beach life is like in Malaysia.

1. On this list of top things to do in Kuala Lumpur I first stop by the most famous landmark of the the city: the Petronas Towers. These twin giant sky scrapers are huge, and they literally reach towards the heavens and touch the clouds. 9. The Batu Caves, located just outside the central part of the city is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur. The caves and shrines are one of the most sacred Hindu sites outside of India.
10. Chow Kit Market is the central fresh wet market in the city. Everyday thousands of shoppers get their Malaysian food ingredients at this interesting market.

I'm Mark Wiens and thank you very much for watching this video about a few of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur, a city that just happens to be one of my favorite cities to visit in Southeast Asia. It's the largest and probably the most important and influential city in Malaysia and truly has some amazing sites to offer. Along with modern skyrise towers like the Petronas Towers, there are still lots of traditional historic buildings as well. The awesome mixture of cultures, the mix of traditional and modern, and very importantly, the outstanding cuisine is what makes Kuala Lumpur such a great city to explore!
1. On this list of top things to do in Kuala Lumpur I first stop by the most famous landmark of the the city: the Petronas Towers. These twin giant sky scrapers are huge, and they literally reach towards the heavens and touch the clouds. 1) Few architectural wonders can compete with the Petronas Towers. Equally as impressive by day as they are at night, it is an absolute must landmark to visit in Kuala Lumpur.
2) Night markets in Malaysia are well worth a visit. My personal favorite is the Jonker Street Night Market located in Melaka. On the weekends Jonker street shuts down to traffic and turns into a sea of people and stalls selling everything from trinkets to street food. While we were there we made sure to cool down with Cendol, which is our favorite Malaysian street food snack.
3) The Batu Caves are of my favorite attractions that is absolutely free! Taking the commuter train from KL Sentral we arrived early in the morning before all of the package tourists. The caves themselves, an important Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Murugan, are worth the 272 step climb to the top. You'll notice many of cheeky monkeys.
4) The KL Bird Park is a quirky attraction worth checking out. Its claim to fame is being the largest walk in aviary. Home to thousands of birds you'll be able to spot peacocks, flamingos and many other exotic ones.
5) While you're in Georgetown, Penang consider visiting a recently opened cat cafe! The Purrfect Cat Cafe in George Town is home to some adorable cats.
6) Whenever I head back to Malaysia I can't help but break out in a smile because I know I'm going to get a chance to eat dim sum.
7) When I mentioned Malaysia was a diverse country, I was referring to the people and cuisine. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and having the opportunity to eat a delicious banana leaf thali set is something I wouldn't miss for the world. Loaded up with rice, dal, vegetables, roti, papad, chutney and pickles. Coming in at only 22 Ringgit (for the two of us) it's an inexpensive but delicious meal.
8) Want to visit the biggest Buddhist temple in all of Southeast Asia? Would you be surprised to learn that it is in Malaysia? Kek Lok Si temple, also known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, is located in Air Itam. The temple combines Mahayana Buddhism and Chinese rituals. To visit take bus 201, 203 or 204 from Komplex Komptar in the heart of George Town, Penang.
9) The Petronas Towers are brilliant by day but 'wow' do they ever shine bright at night. They have really cool light shows.
10) You can't visit Malaysia without having Roti Canai for breakfast, lunch, dinner and/or a snack. An Indian flat bread, similar to a pancake, it comes in all different sizes, shapes and flavors. Our two favorites being cheese and banana.
11) While in Malacca it's a great idea to take a Melaka River Cruise at night as the city really lights up at night. You'll notice wonderful old colonial architecture and street art along with traditional homes alongside the Kampong.
12) The Clan Jetties are an important part of George Town's heritage and the last bastions of old Chinese settlements.
13) Georgetown is one of the most hot and humid cities I've ever visited. If you're looking to escape that for a while head over to the Botanical Gardens just outside of the city. In shady conditions you'll have the opportunity to walk around this massive park where you'll surely spot monkeys and other wildlife.
14) When visiting Malacca be sure to check out a Baba-Nyonya restaurant. A mixture of Chinese and Malaysian cuisine at its finest. Some of our favorite dishes included Nyonya Laksa, Rojak and Popiah.
15) Bling. Bling. That's not the sound of a horn but instead the decorations on a rickshaw in George Town. For around 30 to 40 Ringgit you can take a full one hour city tour. It certainly beats walking around in the heat. Highlights for us included going through Little India.

Chinese pioneers discovered an abundance of minerals here. Since then, however, things have much improved and Kuala Lumpur is now one of the cleanest cities in the world with two steel towers as its unmistakeable landmark, connected by an impressive bridge. Since 1926, tea has been cultivated in the Cameron Highlands where the mild and rainy climate is ideal for its growth. British surveyor, William Cameron, discovered this region in 1885 and soon afterwards its wooded hills were transformed into tea plantations that now attract tourists from all over the world. Sarawak is located in Borneo, the third largest island on the planet. We start our journey through this Malayan federal state, in the northwest of the island, in the capital, Kuching. The British Empire had various buildings constructed in the city but its ethnic groups were content to remain within their own surroundings. Malaysia is like a magnificent fairy tale, a melting pot of various cultures and ethnic groups amid abundant tropical vegetation. Although Malaysia has changed, it has not forgotten the rich traditions of its indigenous tribes yet it is now a country that is travelling into a new age.

One of the twin towers was built by the Japanese - Hazama Corp. and the other twin tower was built by the Koreans - Samsung. The tower built by Samsung group is level, however the tower constructed by the Hazama has a tilt of nearly 10 inches.
3. Kuala Lumpur Tower Menara is the seventh tallest tower in the world and tallest telecommunication tower in Southeast Asia. It provides panoramic views of KL.
4. People of Kuala Lumpur are known as KLites.
5. Kuala Lumpur is the retail hub of Malaysia and boasts a total of 66 shopping malls.

Updated: Made the video a little more concise and the music a little bit more interesting and not repetitive.
Take a deep breath and go on a journey around South East Asia through leech-infested jungles, abandoned temples, and colorful coral reefs. It was a 2 months trip that gone by so fast, like taking one deep breath.
This is no ordinary "inspiring" travel video. For this, I decided to go with a much more fun and action-packed style instead of the usual go-to "inspirational" travel style that I like to do.. and a delicious "disco" music. Everything is better with disco music. :) I also experimented on many ways of shooting and framing and I think most of the footages came out really well.
I spent 2 months traveling around Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia with a few different friends and with such a diverse culture in the region, I was able to accumulate so many material like I never had before. With such a variety of different types of transportation, landscape, people, and food, I was surprise that I could squeeze so much of the material into a 5:30 minutes video shown here.
All in all, I think this is one of my best work yet and I have the most fun creating the video as well. I hope you enjoy it!

In this travel video travel guide to Malaysia, I travel to Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, and to Terangganu, the country's second-largest city.
I start off my trip by exploring Kenyir Lake, located just west of Terangganu, which is actually the largest man-made lake in Southeast Asia (it's the size of Singapore). I head to the far end of the lake by speedboat to go trekking into the hilly jungle where I come across a school of hungry fish waiting for eager tourists like myself to provide them with a cheap snack. I then head back on the lake to explore the many islands that call this lake home.
Next, I head back onto the water -- this time onto the ocean -- to do a little squid jigging as part of the first annual Terengganu International Squid Jigging Fest. Squid jigging, for those of you that don't know, is the act of fishing for squid by hand with a line and hook, something I have questionable skill doing.
Back onto dry land, I explore the market in Terangganu, one of the best places to find fresh seafood in the entire country, and try some of the region's favorite desserts and iced coffee.
For the second half of the video, I head east to the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, where I -- what else? -- find some street food in the famous Chow Kit neighborhood, followed by a little more food in Kampung Baru, a sleeping Malay enclave flanked by the city's downtown tower.
I then take the monorail (!) to explore the Petronas Towers and the KL Tower, two of the city's most famous landmarks, followed by dinner in Jalan Alor, the city's famed outdoor street food district.
Finally, it's time for a little rest and relaxation back on the west coast of Malaysia at the island of Redang, one of the country's most beautiful tropical islands, where I get to experience what beach life is like in Malaysia.

Attracted both by the beauty of Asia, we left our jobs to realise our dream: launch an online travel guide, while traveling six months through Asia. We already much traveled the world but we chose finally this continent because we always have lived strong and memorable experiences there. We defined our route following the dry seasons of each country. Eh yes! We studied tourism management and we are therefore very rigorous in the organization of a trip. This project gave a real goal to this trip: to discover even more, even further, limitless. After a few months, we found ourselves completely free of any prior, completely off the beaten tracks and we become true adventurers. And it is there, you really feel the joy, the pride of all the emotions experienced. It's crazy, such a an adventure!

Passionate about cultural discoveries, the World cuisine, meeting people, travel has changed our lives. Before starting our trip, we lived in a kind of routine without really knowing how thousands of people were living in a very different continent of ours. Today we are coming back bringing with us different vision, awesome pictures in mind and above all a new approach to life. To be happy, we don't need so much: just a backpack to ... go on an adventure and discover magical places which still enrich our life today. Then, we must always remember this trip and remember that even though this is not always easy, we go completely outside of your small comfort zone, we learn a lot about who we really are : a couple passionate about the treasures that surround us, about the cultural differences, about unknown flavors; yes you totally understood: about TRAVEL. And above all, lucky to have achieved this adventure together, remembering always that we are somehow privileged: those who have the wealth to travel. Stones thrown at Sikh temple in Sentul
The attacks on places of worship in Malaysia escalated with yet another attack - this time against a Sikh temple in Sentul where stones were thrown damaging a glass door. Police found about 20 golf-ball sized stones near the cracked window pane of the entrance door to the 100-year-old Gurdwara Sahib Sentul temple yesterday evening. Rishiwant Singh, Humanitarian Aid Coordinator interview's students from the Miri Piri Academy in Amritsar during the Annual Gurmat Parchaar Samelan 2014 organised by Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia. About 1000 participants from 10 countries come to Malaysia to participate in the camp. The one week camp comprises leadership training, prayers, games and many other interesting activities. Sewadars from throughout the world gather during this camp to help their fellow brothers and sisters in learning the Sikh way of life. It is wonderful combination of this band of selfless sewadars and participants that makes the samelan a land of beauty – a moment that always brings sweet and thrilling memories.

Way less amount of you Singhs in New Jersey but just to see the amount of love , respect and unity yall have with each other was dope. Sometimes when there are so many of us in certain areas we take each other for granted and create groups , causing divide amongst our own society. Unity bi bot jaroori ah , learnt that from our squad in Jersey !! Love you all fam miss you kiss you 👊🏻❤️. Shoutout to Rutgers Sikh Association for calling us down to host the Sikh Charity event . It was blessing , thanks to everyone for the continues support because of you guys we get meet amazing people and experience amazing tings.(VLOG 12 is witness)
Another thing which was really dope , when all the Singh's met there they would always say Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh , it encouraged us to start bringing that aspect of Sikhi back into our lives .
