Jazz fusion or simply fusion is a musical genre that developed in the late 1960s when musicians combined aspects of jazz harmony and improvisation with styles such as funk, rock, rhythm and blues, and latin jazz. During this time many jazz musicians began experimenting with electric instruments and amplified sound for the first time. Electronic effects and keyboard synthesisers also featured. Many of the developments during the late 60s and early 70s have since become established elements of jazz fusion musical practice.
Fusion arrangements vary in complexity, some employ groove based vamps fixed to a single key, or even a single chord, with a simple melodic motif (a lick). Others can feature odd or shifting time signatures with elaborate chord progressions, melodies, and counter-melodies. Typically, these arrangements, whether simple or complex, will feature extended improvised sections that can vary in length. As with jazz, fusion often employs brass instruments such as trumpet and saxophone as melody and soloing instruments but other instruments often substitute for these. The rhythm section typically consists of electric bass (in some cases fretless), electric guitar, electric piano/synthesizer (in contrast to the double bass and piano used in earlier jazz) and drums. As with traditional jazz improvisation, fusion instrumentalists generally require a high level of technical proficiency.
Spanking is a type of corporal punishment involving the act of striking the buttocks of another person to cause physical pain, generally with an open hand (more commonly referred to in some countries as slapping or smacking). More severe forms of spanking, such as switching, paddling, belting, caning, whipping, and birching, involve the use of an implement instead of a hand. Parents commonly spank children or adolescents in response to undesired behavior. Boys are more frequently spanked than girls, both at home and in school. Some countries have outlawed the spanking of children in every setting, including homes, schools, and penal institutions, but most allow it when done by a parent or guardian. Adults may spank other adults as well, often in an erotic context.
In North America, the word "spanking" has often been used as a synonym for an official paddling in school, and sometimes even as a euphemism for the formal corporal punishment of adults in an institution.
In British English, most dictionaries define "spanking" as being given only with the open hand.
Jazz is a music genre that originated from African American communities of New Orleans in the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It emerged in the form of independent traditional and popular musical styles, all linked by the common bonds of African American and European American musical parentage with a performance orientation. Jazz spans a period of over a hundred years, encompassing a very wide range of music, making it difficult to define. Jazz makes heavy use of improvisation, polyrhythms, syncopation and the swing note, as well as aspects of European harmony, American popular music, the brass band tradition, and African musical elements such as blue notes and African-American styles such as ragtime. Although the foundation of jazz is deeply rooted within the black experience of the United States, different cultures have contributed their own experience to the music as well. Intellectuals around the world have hailed jazz as "one of America's original art forms".
Fusion or synthesis, the process of combining two or more distinct entities into a new whole, may refer to:
John Leslie "Wes" Montgomery (March 6, 1923 – June 15, 1968) was an American jazz guitarist. He is widely considered one of the major jazz guitarists, emerging after such seminal figures as Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian and influencing countless others, including George Benson, Kenny Burrell, Bobby Broom, Royce Campbell, Grant Green, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, Russell Malone, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Lee Ritenour, Mark Whitfield, Joe Diorio, Tuck Andress, David Becker, Randy Napoleon, Larry Coryell and Emily Remler.
Montgomery was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. According to NPR Jazz Profiles "The Life and Music Of Wes Montgomery", the nickname "Wes" was a child's abbreviation of his middle name, Leslie. He came from a musical family; his brothers, Monk (double bass and electric bass) and Buddy (vibraphone and piano), were jazz performers. The brothers released a number of albums together as the Montgomery Brothers. Although he was not skilled at reading music, he could learn complex melodies and riffs by ear. Montgomery started learning the six-string guitar at the relatively late age of 20 by listening to and learning the recordings of his idol, guitarist Charlie Christian; however, he had played a four string tenor guitar since age twelve. He was known for his ability to play Christian's solos note for note and was hired by Lionel Hampton for this ability.

Hello everyone! I know I upload ONE Lick for you to practice per week, but in a couple of days I'll go on tour through Europe with The Outside, a metal band where I play, so I've prepared 11 Licks for you. Most of them are based in the "Eight note Dominant" scale aka the "Half step-whole step" scale; mostly used over Dominant 7 Chords, it gives your solos that nice "outside" sound. The PDF's and Guitar Pro files you get by writing me an Email to guitarmastery.courses@gmail.com; just put "11 Licks PDF" in the description and you are set to go my friend. Remember to SUBSCRIBE; hit the LIKE button and leave a comment below! I'll see you all in 10 Days Cheers, Sergio http://www.aristidesinstruments.com/page/sergio-klein.html

One of my viewers (shoutout to andrulin1) suggested that I create a video with some jazz fusion licks so I sat down and wrote 10 of them with some of my favorites concepts in display. The purpose of this video is to give watchers an idea on how to apply certain concepts that they might already know but haven't been able to apply just yet or to just plain old learn some cool new licks. In the creation of these licks I used the minor pentatonic scale, the melodic minor scale, the dorian scale, the dorian b9 scale, the whole tone scale, the diminished scale as well as some pentatonic substitutions and tension building concepts and others. Please watch: "Unexpected Phantasy - Kit Tang | JTC Guitar Hero Ballads 2 Album | Jamtrackcentral.com" ► https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xJBDPSv-aA --~-- This is a C# Dorian Sounding Jazz Fusion Lick played on C# minor chord from Mike Stern's Chromazone (Live). My method to understand the theory behind this guitar lick: 1. Using the relative major scale I always think that it's easier to play the relative major scale while playing Dorian and Aeolian. In this case, I used B major scale instead of C# Dorian. 2. B Mixolydian (add b9th) or Db Harmonic Minor are also used in this lick. Here you can see the relationship between these 4 scales: B Ionian: B C# D# E F# G# A# B B Mixolydian: B C# D# E F# G# A B C# Dorian: C# D# E F# G# A# B C# C#/Db Harmonic Minor: C# D# E F# G# A B# C# 3.
Join the Members Area: http://www.creativeguitarstudio.com/ Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio One of the most common Jazz scales (applied in all styles of jazz music), is the Diminished scale. Often referred to as the "Octatonic Scale" its structure is very unique due to its 8-tone layout (which is a rare occurrence in a world of "5-tone" pentatonic and 7-tone scales & modes). The Diminished scale is derived out of two interlocking 4-tone diminished seventh chords giving us those "eight separate tones" that produce altered degrees in the scales structure. The associated altered tones are an augmented "9th & 5th," as well as, diminished 5th. In this lesson, we'll explore the Diminished scales' structure, we'll study a collection of popular scale patterns on the neck, and we'll work ...

I wanted to try a slightly different format. So here's a take on a song based Jazz Guitar Lesson: Analyze the chords and then talk about what concepts I use when improvising on it: Target notes, Arpeggios and pentatonic scales in jazz context. All of this coming out of my own playing on Lady Bird (Tadd Dameron)/Half Nelson(Miles Davis). The turnaround of this song is also a great way to work towards improvising over giant steps progressions. What do you think about this new format? What would you like to see :) Old recording of me playing Half Nelson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4JX8QNKv_k If you want to jam on the song yourself you can use my backing track here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cxMEXZbN5s&index;=16&list;=PLWYuNvZPqqcEKZdvb3Q2iKIMqiEVJFqcM Support me on Patreon: h...

'Guitar Legends' was a concert held over five nights, from 15th to 19th October 1991 in Seville, Spain, to publicise the Expo '92 event the following year. This concert was a huge inspiration to me when it was first broadcast on television, and was the first time I'd seen and heard many of these artists. Three of these videos come from my own VHS recordings from British television (the documentary, Rock Night and Blues Night), and the remaining three videos from Japanese TV recordings.
