""Capra"" is a genus of mammals, the "goats" or "wild goats", composed of up to nine species, including the wild goat, the markhor, and several species known as "ibex". The domestic goat is a domesticated subspecies of the wild goat . Evidence of goat domestication dates back more than 8,500 years.
Wild goats are animals of mountain habitats. They are very agile and hardy, able to climb on bare rock and survive on sparse vegetation. They can be distinguished from the genus "Ovis", which includes sheep, by the presence of scent glands close to the feet, in the groin, and in front of the eyes, and the absence of other facial glands, and by the presence of a beard in the males, and of hairless calluses on the knees of the forelegs.
The Rocky Mountain goat is in a separate genus, "Oreamnos".
All members of the "Capra" genus are bovids and caprids . All these are ruminants, meaning they chew the cud, and have four-chambered stomachs which play a vital role in digesting, regurgitating, and redigesting their food.
The genus has sometimes been taken to include "Ovis" and "Ammotragus" , but these are usually regarded as distinct genera, leaving "Capra" for goats and ibexes. In this smaller genus, some authors have recognized only two species, the markhor on one side and all other forms included in one species on the other side. Today, nine species are usually accepted:
The goats of the genus "Capra" have complex systematic relationships, which are still not completely resolved. Recent studies based on mitochondrial DNA suggest that the Siberian ibex and the Nubian ibex represent distinct species, which are not very closely related to the physically similar Alpine ibex. The Alpine ibex forms a group with the Spanish ibex. The West Caucasian tur appears to be more closely related to the wild goat than to the East Caucasian tur. The markhor is relatively little separated from other forms—previously it had been considered to be a separate branch of the genus.

"American Lamancha", or more commonly, simply "Lamancha" or "LaMancha", is a formally recognized breed of dairy goat, first bred in Oregon by Mrs. Eula Fay Frey. The Lamancha goat is a member of the Capra genus, specifically Capra aegagrus hircus , like all domestic goats.
Lamancha goats are perhaps the most distinctive goat breed; easily recognizable by their very short ear pinnae. They are also known for their high milk production, and the comparatively high butterfat content in their milk. The short-eared American Lamanchas first gained recognition as a distinct breed in the early 1950s, and the breed was registered formally on January 27, 1958 as "Lamancha or American Lamancha" goats. Approximately 200 animals were accepted at registration as its original stock. The first true American Lamancha goat registered was named Fay's Ernie, L-1.
The LaMancha goat is the only breed of goat developed in the United States. Although it is interesting folk lore and short eared goats do run throughout history, there is not, nor has there ever been, a breed known as the Spanish LaMancha. The Term "American Lamancha" is an ADGA term which denotes a goat that is mostly Lamancha but has unknown genetics or varied genetics of other purebred goats.
Lamancha goats may be any color known to occur in goats.
Modern Lamancha ear definitions, according to the American Dairy Goat Association breed standard are,
"Gopher ear: An approximate maximum length of 1 inch but preferably nonexistent and with very little or no cartilage. The end of the ear must be turned up or down. This is the only ear type which will make bucks eligible for registration."
"Elf ear: An approximate maximum length of 2 inches is allowed, the end of the ear must be turned up or turned down and cartilage shaping the small ear is allowed."

The "Nilgiri tahr" known locally as the "Nilgiri ibex" or simply "ibex", is an ungulate that is endemic to the Nilgiri Hills and the southern portion of the Western Ghats in the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Southern India. It is the state animal of Tamil Nadu. Despite its local name, it is more closely related to the sheep of the "Ovis" genus than the Ibex and wild goats of the "Capra" genus.
In the Tamil language it is called "varaiaadu" , the term being composed of two Tamil words, "wurrai" a precipice, and "aadu", a goat.In Malayalam it is pronounced as "Varayaadu" . The ancient word in classical Tamil was "varudai" . It was previously named "Capra warryato" by Gray.
Its closest relatives are sheep . Until 2005, it was placed with the Himalayan tahr and the Arabian tahr in the genus "Hemitragus". However, it has recently been transferred to a new genus "Nilgiritragus" because it is genetically more similar to members of the genus "Ovis" than to other tahrs.
The Nilgiri tahr is a stocky goat with short, coarse fur and a bristly mane. Males are larger than females and of darker color when mature. Both sexes have curved horns, reaching up to 40 cm for males and 30 cm for females. Adult males weigh 80 to and stand about 100 cm tall at the shoulder. Adult males develop a light grey area on their backs and are thus called "saddlebacks".
The Nilgiri tahr inhabits the open montane grassland habitat of the South Western Ghats montane rain forests ecoregion. At elevations from 1200 to, the forests open into grasslands interspersed with pockets of stunted forests, locally known as "sholas". These grassland habitats are surrounded by dense forests at the lower elevations. The Nilgiri tahrs formerly ranged over these grasslands in large herds, before but hunting and poaching in the nineteenth century reduced their population.

The walias Band Essential Ethiopian Instrumental Collection - Yene Fiker (MP4)

Walias Band (sometimes spelled Wallias Band; Amharic: ዋሊያስ ባንድ?) were an Ethiopian Jazz and funk band active from the early 1970s until the early 1990s. Formed by members of the Venus Band, Walias backed up many prominent singers with a hard polyrhythmic funk sound influenced by western artists like King Curtis, Junior Walker and Maceo Parker. In 1977 they recorded one of the few albums of Ethiopian instrumental music in collaboration with vibraphonist Mulatu Astatke, whose role as a bandleader and composer was also a major influence on Ethiopian popular music.[1]
In 1981 Walias became the first modern Ethiopian band to travel to the United States, playing on a tour with singer Mahmoud Ahmed primarily to audiences of Ethiopian refugees. Four members—Girma Bèyènè, Mogès Habté, Mèlakè Gèbrè and Hailu Mergia—stayed in the U.S. and formed a new group called Zula Band in favor of returning to live in Ethiopia under its dictatorship.[2] Mergia took work in Washington DC driving a taxi cab and released solo cassette tapes of traditional Ethiopian music played on analog synthesizer, electric piano and accordion.[3][4] The remaining members—Yohannes Tèkola and Tèmarè Harègou—continued to play together under the Derg dictatorship for another decade.[5]
In the late 1990s Walias Band found a wider audience in the west when the French label Buda Records reissued much of the group's music on the Ethiopiques series of compact discs. Their instrumental, "Musicawi Silt", became a popular dance number and has been covered by a number of artists.
The Walias Band's name derives from the walia ibex, an endangered species of the Capra genus native to the mountains of Ethiopia. They share no members with the similarly named Ibex Band who also backed up Mahmoud Ahmed during the same epoch.[6]

7 Amazing Hybrid Animals
Hybrid animals may sound like science fiction, but they're not. Hybrids are typically the topic of our own secret dreams. Said dreams usually revolve around owning a gorilladillo (a cross between a gorilla and an armadillo).
You wouldn't think that the animals below are real, but there are many living examples of such creatures. Unfortunately, most (not all) hybrids end up being sterile so they cannot be bred even further. That doesn't mean we can't clone an army of Ligers, though!
1. Savannah Cat
A Savannah cat is a cross between a domestic cat and the serval, a medium-sized, large-eared wild African cat. The unusual cross became popular among breeders at the end of the 1990s, and in 2001 the International Cat Association accepted it as a new registered breed.
A Bengal breeder, Judee Frank, crossbred a male serval, belonging to Suzi Woods, with a Siamese (domestic cat) to produce the first Savannah cat (named Savannah) on April 7, 1986.
2. Liger
The liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion (Panthera leo) and a female tiger (Panthera tigris). Thus, the liger has parents of the same genus but of different species. The liger is distinct from the similar hybrid tigon. While the Siberian tiger is the largest pure sub-species, ligers are believed to be the largest of all known extant felines.
Ligers exist only in captivity or zoos because the habitats of the parental species do not overlap in the wild.
3. Leopon
A leopon is a hybrid resulting from the crossing of a male leopard with a lioness. The head of the animal is similar to that of a lion while the rest of the body carries similarities to leopards. These hybrids are produced in captivity and are unlikely to occur in the wild.
The first documented leopon was bred at Kolhapur, India in 1910. Its skin was sent to Reginald Innes Pocock by Walter Samuel Millard, the Secretary of the Bombay Natural History Society.
4. Grolar Bear
A grolar bear is a rare ursid hybrid between Grizzly and polar bear that has occurred both in captivity and in the wild. In 2006, the occurrence of this hybrid in nature was confirmed by testing the DNA of a strange-looking bear that had been shot near Sachs Harbour, Northwest Territories on Banks Island in the Canadian Arctic.
With many suspected sightings and three confirmed cases, theories of how such hybrids might naturally occur have become more than hypothetical.
5. Wholphin
A wholphin or wolphin is an extremely rare hybrid born from a mating of a female common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) with a male false killer whale (Pseudorca crassidens). The name implies a hybrid of whale and dolphin, although taxonomically, both are within the "oceanic dolphin" family, which is within the "toothed whale" suborder.
The first recorded wholphin was born in a Tokyo SeaWorld, but he died after 200 days. The first wholphin in the United States and the first to survive was Kekaimalu, born at Sea Life Park in Hawaii on May 15, 1985; her name means "from the peaceful ocean".
6. Sheep-goat
Sometimes called a geep or shoat in popular media, is the hybrid offspring of a sheep and a goat. Although sheep and goats seem similar and can be mated, they belong to different genera in the subfamily Caprinae of the family Bovidae. Sheep belong to the genus Ovis and have 54 chromosomes, while goats belong to the genus Capra and have 60 chromosomes.
Despite widespread shared pasturing of goats and sheep, hybrids are very rare, indicating the genetic distance between the two species.
7. Zebroid
A zebroid (also zedonk, zorse, zebra mule, zonkey, and zebmule) is the offspring of any cross between a zebra and any other equine: essentially, a zebra hybrid. In most cases, the sire is a zebra stallion. Offspring of a donkey sire and zebra dam, called a zebra hinny, or donkra, do exist but are rare.
Zebroids have been bred since the 19th century. Charles Darwin noted several zebra hybrids in his works.

Capra is a genus of mammals, the goats or wild goats, composed of up to nine species, including the wild goat, the markhor, and several species known as ibex. The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a domesticated subspecies of the wild goat (Capra aegagrus). Evidence of goat domestication dates back more than 8,500 years.
Wild goats are animals of mountain habitats. They are very agile and hardy, able to climb on bare rock and survive on sparse vegetation. They can be distinguished from the genus Ovis, which includes sheep, by the presence of scent glands close to the feet, in the groin, and in front of the eyes, and the absence of other facial glands, and by the presence of a beard in the males, and of hairless calluses on the knees of the forelegs.[1]
The Rocky Mountain goat is in a separate genus, Oreamnos. (Source Wiki)

The "mountain goat" , also known as the "Rocky Mountain goat", is a large-hoofed mammal found only in North America. A subalpine to alpine species, it is a sure-footed climber commonly seen on cliffs and ice.
Despite its vernacular name, it is not a member of "Capra", the genus that includes all other goats, such as the wild goat, "Capra aegagrus", from which the domestic goat is derived.
The mountain goat is an even-toed ungulate of the order Artiodactyla and the family Bovidae that includes antelopes, gazelles, and cattle. It belongs to the subfamily Caprinae , along with 32 other species including true goats, sheep, the chamois, and the muskox. The mountain goat is the only species in the genus "Oreamnos". The name "Oreamnos" is derived from the Greek term "oros" "mountain" and the word "amnos" "lamb".
Both male and female mountain goats have beards, short tails, and long black horns, 15 – in length, which contain yearly growth rings. They are protected from the elements by their woolly white double coats. The fine, dense wool of their undercoats is covered by an outer layer of longer, hollow hairs. Mountain goats molt in spring by rubbing against rocks and trees, with the adult billies shedding their extra wool first and the pregnant nannies shedding last. Their coats help them to withstand winter temperatures as low as -50 F and winds of up to 100 mph .
A male stands about 1 m at the shoulder to the waist and can weigh considerably more than the female . Male goats also have longer horns and longer beards than females. Mountain goats can weigh between 45 and, though even males will often weigh less than 82 kg. The head-and-body length can range from 120 -, with a small tail adding 10 -.
