Duiker Air Rifle Hunting in South Africa

In this week’s episode of Realtree Global Hunting, Ian Harford takes to The Bushveld on the Eastern Cape of South Africa for some big game hunting. Accompanied by Gavin Ingram of Nduna Hunting Safaris, Ian takes the brand new Benjamin Bulldog .357 Big Bore air rifle for its first ever outing in the field. The light, manoeuvrable and accurage Bulldog is in for a real challenge out in the Bushveld, where swirling winds are putting the game in a skittish mood, and easily spooked animals can make for a frustrating day’s hunting. Ian and Gavin come across Nyalas, Mountain Reedbucks, Impalas and Black Wildebeest, but a shot to test out the Benjamin Bulldog on its debut is hard to come by. Amid better conditions, the next day proves more successful. Ian and Gavin find a Duiker just beyond plenty of cover, giving Ian the chance to give this air gun its first kill. From 65 yards, Ian gets the Duiker in Bulldog’s crosshairs, and makes a near perfect shot. A look at the penetration and terminal performance of the shot later on shows an impressive level of precision from this brand new gun. Next stop, bigger game!
