Plot: An all-boys group from Allahabad's St. Joseph's College is thrilled when a new-comer from Mumbai, Vaishnavi, joins them. Most of the students' time is spent in college, then in coaching classes, and finally they return home to stern parents who want them to complete their homework and ensure they secure good marks and become doctors, engineers, and IAS officers. Some even go to the extent of forcing their children to take up Science instead of Arts - killing whatever talent and initiative their children may have. Unable to handle the pressure as well as convince his parents to let him take arts - Navneet Singh kills himself. Devastated by his death, his friends approach Advocate Sanjay to sue not only Navneet's but also their respective parents. The Police refuse to register a complaint, and Sanjay files this matter in a Trial Court naming the parents as well as the Government of India as defendants. Many other students approach him and add themselves as plaintiffs- bringing the total to over one Lakh nine thousand. The argument from the Government is that this is a personal issue, strongly supported by parents who assert that they only want a better future for their children. With the media and politicians taking an interest in this scenario - the debate taking place is how will an already overburdened and openly corrupt judicial system - that has matters pending for decades - will address - leave alone resolve - this issue within the students' lifetime.

Plot: On June 12, 1964, Nelson Mandela, along with a number of political detainees, was sentenced to life imprisonment in what remains the most sensational treason trial in the history of South Africa. The incarceration of Mandela and other political prisoners on Robben Island would become a symbol of the struggle to end apartheid and win freedom for the black majority in South Africa. On February 2, 1990, President F.W. De Klerk stood before Parliament and announced the legalization of the African National Congress and a host of other banned political organizations. At the same time, he announced that Nelson Mandela, having served 27 years in prison, would be released within 7 days. Yet the world, and indeed most South Africans, knew little about how this momentous occasion came to pass. Until now. Mandela & De Klerk was filmed in South Africa. Most of the locations are those where the actual events took place, and the dramatized sequences are augmented with newsreel footage to ensure the most accurate portrayal possible of recent historical events.

Plot: In 1860 Paris, chemist Louis Pasteur is considered a quack within the medical community for advocating that doctors and surgeons wash their hands and boil their instruments to destroy microbes that can kill their patients. He came across this belief when discovering microscopic organisms in sour wine, the organisms which could be killed if heated sufficiently. The belief among the scientific community at large is that the organisms are the result of disease and not the cause. This belief is despite the fact that thirty percent of women die in childbirth due to child bed disease, accounting for twenty thousand annual deaths in Paris alone. The debate takes Pasteur all the way to a meeting with Emperor Napoleon III and his physician, Dr. Charbonnet, who is one of the leading opponents of Pasteur. Several years later - France now a republic - much of Pasteur's reputation changes as a government sanctioned experiment with anthrax and sheep shows that a vaccine created by Pasteur proves effective. As Pasteur begins work on finding the cause and a cure for rabies, which proves a more difficult challenge, he still has his detractors, including Dr. Charbonnet. This continuing debate brings about his biggest challenge: proving that microbes are the cause of all disease. Through it all, he is supported not only by his family, but Dr. Jean Martel, who was once a junior physician in the emperor's court and a physician within the republic's government, but who now works with Pasteur and is his son-in-law. But an act of bravado by Charbonnet may ultimately prove to be the breakthrough for which Pasteur is looking. Moving the experimental treatments from animals to humans proves a bigger obstacle, as is Charbonnet's need to win at all cost in the court of public opinion.

Quotes:
Dr. Louis Pasteur: Jean, how many dogs have we left?::Dr. Jean Martel: Ten.::Dr. Louis Pasteur: Are they well? Healthy?::Dr. Jean Martel: In perfect condition. They've never been exposed.::Dr. Louis Pasteur: Give them hydrophobia.::Dr. Jean Martel: [in disbelief] You mean...?::Dr. Louis Pasteur: Give them hydrophobia.
[about Pasteur]::Dr. Charbonnet: You remember a few years ago, he was the cause of a slight controversy on the subject of sour wine.::Napoleon III: Oh, yes, I recall.::Dr. Charbonnet: He claimed to have found little animals in it... infinitesimal beasts.::Napoleon III: But are there such creatures? Do they really exist?::Dr. Charbonnet: Your Majesty, microscopic organisms have long been observed. They spring into being of their own accord wherever there is putrid matter or fermentation. They are the result rather than the cause of disease. By heating wine to certain temperature, Monsieur Pasteur was able to destroy them. I presume he plans to cure blood poisoning in the same manner: namely, by boiling our blood.::Napoleon III: Heaven forbid.::Dr. Charbonnet: It's not unlikely, I assure you.::Napoleon III: But, I won't have it, Charbonnet. I won't tolerate such practices. We're not living in the Middle Ages. This is France... Paris... the nineteenth century.::Empress Eugenie: I think Monsieur Pasteur should be allowed to defend himself.::Dr. Charbonnet: But, your Majesty...::Empress Eugenie: I, too, have read the pamphlet, Doctor Charbonnet. It said nothing about boiling blood - merely to boil the instruments that you surgeons use.::Dr. Charbonnet: Your Majesty, if I did anything so absurd as to boil my instruments or scrub my hands, they'd think I was a witch doctor resorting to charms and laugh me out of the hospital.::Empress Eugenie: That would be a novelty, Monsieur. Most people who go to hospitals are CARRIED out... dead.::Napoleon III: Yes, Cahrbonnet. Why?
Dr. Louis Pasteur: [to his assistants] Remember our aim: Find the microbe - kill the microbe.
Dr. Louis Pasteur: [speaking to the Emperor] Sire, the hospitals of Paris are pesthouses. There's scarcely a doctor in the city who's not carrying death on his hands and instruments.::Dr. Charbonnet: Because of microbes, Monsieur? Your private menagerie of invisible beasts?::Dr. Louis Pasteur: Exactly. Doctor Charbonnet could see them for himself if he took the trouble to use his microscope. He could watch them multiply into murderous millions. They breed in filth. They may start from the gutters of Paris tonight and by tomorrow claim some mother from this very court.::Dr. Charbonnet: Preposterous! To think that a human being could be destroyed by an animal ten thousand times smaller than a flea. It's as though an army of ants were to overthrow your Majesty's empire.
Dr. Louis Pasteur: Will you try and explain to Dr. Radisse what we are doing? [sarcastically] He's a member of the Academy of Medicine, so you'll have to use very simple language.::Dr. Emile Roux: We're convinced, Doctor - after eight years of experimenting - that this vaccine, when injected into the animal, will set up an immunity.::Dr. Radisse: Ridiculous! It would take eighty years to convince me.::Dr. Louis Pasteur: Eighty? Aren't you a little optimistic?
[last lines]::[addressing The Academy of Medicine - directing his remarks to the young men in the balcony]::Dr. Louis Pasteur: You young men - doctors and scientists of the future - do not let yourselves be tainted by apparent skepticism; nor discouraged by the sadness of certain hours that creep over nations. Do not become angry at your opponents, for no scientific theory has ever been accepted without opposition. Live in the serene peace of libraries and laboratories. Say to yourselves, first, "What have I done for my instruction?" And as you gradually advance, "What am I accomplishing?" Until the time comes when you may have the immense happiness of thinking that you have contributed in some way to the welfare and progress of mankind.

Holly Nicholas of TheRebel.Media reports, Finance Minister Joe Ceci seems to think that Alberta is a lot like Norway, but he’s completely off base.
When it comes to the oil and gas industry, the two regions couldn’t be more different.
Norway has access to pipelines, while pipelines are protested with foreign money in Canada. In fact, Eastern Canada would rather import oil from unethical sources instead of building a pipeline and obtaining their resource from their own countrymen.
And although Norway has a trillion dollars stashed away, there’s a reason why – they don’t have to make equalization payments to have not provinces and their citizens pay ridiculous amounts of taxes. This makes it easy for Norway to bank all of that money, since the people pay for all of their social programs. In Alberta, the government has the responsibility of paying hefty sums for education and healthcare.
When it comes to government, Alberta is just a branch of the federal system while Norway has a national governing body. This means that they have much more control over taxation and the economy – the state owns the majority of the oil and gas companies and controls the economy. More control also means no infighting with other provinces to get pipelines built.
Norway’s oil resource is also light sweet crude which comes with a higher price tag, so overall they get a higher Brent pricing. Alberta oil is heavier and is subjected to a different refining process, plus there are issues with transport due to lack of pipeline infrastructure. This causes bottle necking in the US, which drives the price we acquire for our resource down. This means our heavier resource garners Western Canada Select pricing, which is lower than Brent.
When it comes to the oil and gas industry, Alberta couldn’t be any more different than Norway.

In this conversation with Arun Jaitley, we try to understand how the Finance Minister wants to bring the country's economy back on track. He very vividly talks about former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whom he considers a man of scholarship and a patriot by heart. But he thinks the charisma of Dr Singh didn't reflect when it came to taking decisions as the PM. He also says that the recent foul mouthing by some of the party's MPs were uncalled for and condemned it strongly.

Greece's new left-wing finance minister says his government wants a "rational discussion" with the country's creditors.
Yanis Varoufakis told Newsnight that contrary to what had been reported he had held a "very fruitful meeting" with Jeroen Dijsselbloem, head of the eurozone group of finance ministers in Athens on Friday.
But he said Greece was not prepared to carry on trying "to enforce an unenforceable programme" of austerity measures.

EN - National briefing by Yanis Varoufakis, Minister of Finance of Greece, after the first session of the Extraordinary Eurogroup Meeting - Part in English - 27.06.2015 - Eurogroup/Council, Justus Lipsius building, Brussels.
Yanis Varoufakis: "Today's Eurogroup meeting discussed the latest developments on Greece. We explained to my colleagues why we could not accept the Institutions' proposal 2 days ago. Briefly, it had to do with 3 fundamental issues:
-the 1st one was that the prior actions recommended were seriously recessionary, and redistributing burdens from those who could and should pay them to those who neither could nor should,
-the 2nd reason concerned the financing. The proposal for financing the 5-month extension period of the calendar agreement, the funding proposal that was on the table by the Institutions was technically inadequate. The numbers simply did not add up. And when we asked questions about in particular the utilization of parts of the HFSF 10.9 bln which was there to recapitalize banks and to strengthen them (...) received an answer that involved the ASM, and that, as we know, effectively backed into this short-term arrangement, a new programme: both technically and legally, that did not make much sense, and I am sure that other member states would have a problem with it, Germany in particular,
-thirdly, and most importantly, what was proposed to us did not contain any plan for giving/instilling hope in investors, both Greek and non-Greek, in consumers, in depositors, that this 5-month period that was recommended proposed to us would be a period of consolidation and a period of overcoming the crisis. Instead it was punctuated by 1 review after the other every few weeks, leading to an end sometime in November December, without anything in sight that instilled confidence in anyone that wouldn't be exactly the same negotiation again with a threat of impasse, deterring through backward deduction today investors from doing what Greece needs, which is to invest. (...)
I reminded my colleagues that we were elected on the basis of a 36% vote ; collectively our government scored something just over 40% ; for a momentum decision like that, we believe that 50% plus one is the minimum that is necessary. We explained to our partners also that this government is absolutely determined to find a solution and accommodation with our partners, that the Greek people on July 5th will be asked to agree or not to agree with the Institutions' proposal. That leaves open the possibility of negotiations through the night and the day, and the night and the day ahead of us that would improve the Institutions' proposal, in which case our government's recommendation would change. (...) (Yanis Varoufakis then explains: "The real reason, Ladies & Gentlemen, why we are finding ourselves in this impasse ..." during 2 minutes)

THE BUSINESS INTERVIEW : Global oil prices have fallen sharply, leading to significant revenue shortfalls in many energy exporting nations, such as Nigeria. For Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the country's finance minister: "Obviously, it would be nice if both Opec and non-Opec members moved a little. But we should see this as the opportunity for Nigeria to truly diversify its sources of revenues."
