U.S. home resales fell more than expected in August, a cautionary sign for the U.S. housing market which has recently looked on stronger footing.
The National Association of Realtors said on Monday existing home sales dropped 4.8 percent to an annual rate of 5.31 million units.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a 5.51 million-unit pace of home sales last month. Sales were up 6.2 percent from a year ago.
The decline in August might be due to rising prices shutting out potential buyers, said Lawrence Yun, the NAR's chief economist. Home sales fell most in America's South and West, areas which had recently seen the fastest price gains, h

U.S. Existing Home Sales Fall More Than Expected
U.S. home resales fell more than expected in August, a cautionary sign for the U.S. housing market which has recently looked on stronger footing.
The National Association of Realtors said on Monday existing home sales dropped 4.8 percent to an annual rate of 5.31 million units.
Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a 5.51 million-unit pace of home sales last month. Sales were up 6.2 percent from a year ago.
The decline in August might be due to rising prices shutting out potential buyers, said Lawrence Yun, the NAR's chief economist. Home sales fell most in America's South and West, areas which had recently seen the fastest price gains, he said.

Now listen, we’ve all got a problem of, you find something really creative to help us improve our sales process or selling abilities, or we talk to a friend who’s gone through a class and they think it’s great and they share some of the things that are going on, and all of a sudden, what do you do? I want to get my company to make the decision to let us all go to sales training and start learning some stuff.
So you’ve got to approach your manager as usual, during the whole hierarchy thing, so you’ve got to be able to think about rather than approaching your manager and going, “I want to go! I want to go! I want to go!” look at it from an ROI perspective. What will the investment return for the sales organization? If I learn to be a better qualifier, and we all learn together, will we generate more opportunities? Odds are yes.
If I really need something in terms of negotiation, that’s where we’re failing as a group because we’re not getting to the end of the deal and we’re losing it. So let’s make sure we are spending our time not trying to say, “I need to go to sales training because I just need it.” “We need to do it because we really appreciate the fact that it really returns something to the company and it returns something to yourself as well.
So focus on return on investment in sales training and your manager will be the first one to say yes.
