What to do in Zhuhai in the month of April 2015: HISTORY AND CULTURE: Zhuhai was originally under the administration of Zhongshan County, but in 1953, it was made an independent county of its own. The new county consisted of a coastal region and the islands of Zhongshan, Baoan, and Dongguan. However, in 1959, it became a part of Zhongshan County again. In March 1979, Zhuhai County was again changed, this time to Zhuhai Municipality. The next year, the city was approved to one of China’s first batch of special economic zones. GETTING AROUND: Zhuhai has built a transportation system based on highways linking all nearby cities, harbors, railway stations and airports. On the south of Zhuhai is Macau, tourists can cross over to the other side through the Gongbei Port. Located on the central urban area is the Jiuzhou Port which offers ferry routes to Hong Kong and Jiuzhou Port. ATTRACTIONS: Bring the whole family to the largest ocean-themed resort in the world, the Chimelong International Ocean Tourist Resort. This theme park covers 5 square kilometers and is divided into three areas: Fuxiang Bay, Hengqin Mountain, and Dolphin Bay. On the coast of the Xianglu Bay, guests will find the famous landmark of the city - the Fisher Girl. The statue of the girl has been regarded as an icon of China and symbolizes the lively spirit of the city. Spend a day of shopping at the Huafa Century City Mall! This shopping hub is located at the Xiangzhou district and houses more than 64 local and international retail shops, a world-class cinema, countless restaurants, bars, and spas.
