Back to the city center, I spare some time before my flight back heading to Jakarta to explore the city and find the traditional dish made from Sago named Papeda. I was in and out to some restaurant and asking about the menu but none of them still cook papeda untill in the end of hoping to taste it, fortunately I found a small resto in the center of the city nearby the Yos Sudarso harbour.

Sectarian violence is continuing in the remote eastern islands of Indonesia.
Indonesia's security forces came under attack on Wednesday as violence flared in Indonesia's remote Maluku islands.
Clashes between the security forces and feuding Christians and Muslims in Ambon left at least nine people dead.
Elsewhere, the Indonesian navy sent two ships to nearby Halmahera island to evacuate refugees from the bloody sectarian crisis.
In Maluku's provincial capital, Ambon, at least nine people were killed in street clashes between Muslims and Christians that erupted on Wednesday.
Two Christians and three Muslims were killed in a gang battle fought with homemade guns and swords.
As the fighting raged, people ran in all directions in search of cover.
Four police officers were among the dead.
Muslim gunmen had heard that Christian refugees were sheltering at a police barracks.
Before long, the group mounted a full-scale attack on the barracks.
The attackers are believed to be members of an Islamic group calling itself Laskar Jihad, or "Holy War Force".
Several months ago the group was accused of sending more than 2-thousand Islamic paramilitary troops into Maluku to counter a round of Christian attacks.
Their numbers are said to dwarf those of the Indonesian police in Ambon who find themselves, though well equipped, greatly outnumbered.
More sectarian fighting flared in other parts of the eastern Malukus, despite increased patrols by security forces, accused earlier of doing little to stop the bloody violence.
Jakarta has been heavily criticised for failing to quell the violence.
Military commander Admiral Widodo Adisutjipto said on Wednesday that he met Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid and ordered more troops into the area.
On Thursday, Indonesian navy ships evacuated more than 700 fearful Christian refugees from Duma village on Halmahera island.
Church workers said up to 187 people have died since the Monday attack on Duma village, which apparently came in revenge for past atrocities by local Christians against Muslims.
The military has put the death toll since Monday at 111, although the total couldn't be independently confirmed.
It was the latest round of religious killings in the Malukus - the fabled Spice Islands under Dutch colonial rule.
About 90 per cent of Indonesia's 210 (m) million people are Muslim, making it the world's most populous Islamic country.
But Christians are a majority in the Maluku islands, which lie 1-thousand-500 miles northeast of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
More than 2-thousand-500 members of both faiths have been killed in the past 18 months across the archipelago.
In December, hundreds of Muslims were slain by marauding Christian gangs, with both sides launching revenge attacks since then.
For more than three authoritarian decades Indonesia's military used force to keep a lid on ethnic and religious tensions across the sprawling Southeast Asian nation.
Since the ouster of President Suharto two years ago, the power of the armed forces has waned in the face of demands for greater democracy.
Some soldiers have been tried and imprisoned for human rights abuses in other parts of Indonesia and commanders have promised to reform their ranks.
But under cover of darkness, many still feel they are in danger.
The smoke coming from burning houses and a part of the barracks serve as a reminder of the intensity and desperation of the situation.

Indonesian troops were ordered to shoot rioters on sight on Friday as sectarian violence claimed five more lives in the eastern town of Ambon, officials said.
The death toll has reached 31 in the last four days of sectarian fighting in the Indonesian town of Ambon - the capital of Maluku province which was formerly known as the Spice Islands.
The recent intercommunal fighting in Maluku and neighboring North Maluku is fueled by complaints by Christians that Muslim newcomers from other parts of Indonesia have been taking their jobs and do not respect local customs.
The violence and destruction in Ambon have not abated despite the presence of the Indonesian Army.
This Catholic church was torched in the suburb of Ahuru, three miles east of Ambon, during Wednesday's riots.
Ahuru is a border neighbourhood dividing Muslim and Christian communities.
Military spokesman Colonel Iwa Budiman said six people were killed in Thursday's clashes between rival bands of militants.
Local police said the security forces later restored order, but peace was unlikely to hold for long.
On Friday, Indonesian troops were ordered to shoot rioters on sight as sectarian violence claimed five more lives.
Brigadier General Max Tamaela, commander of the Maluku military district, ordered the security forces to crack down on rival bands of Christians and Muslim after two soldiers were shot by snipers.
Hostilities between religious groups first erupted on Tuesday, ending a six-week lull in sectarian violence.
Many people are now fleeing the area to avoid being caught up in the fighting.
Ambon, 2,600 kilometres (1,600 miles) northeast of Jakarta, is the capital of Maluku province.
The city, one of the few in Muslim-dominated Indonesia where Christians are still the majority, was renowned for its religious tolerance before sectarian violence broke out in January 1999.
More than 2,500 people have been killed in the fighting since then.
Intercommunal fighting in Maluku and neighboring North Maluku, formerly known as the Spice Islands, subsided in April - when a dozen deaths were recorded - and the first half of this month.
The current strife is fueled by complaints by Christians that Muslim newcomers from other parts of Indonesia have been taking their jobs and do not respect local customs.
Meanwhile, more than 2-thousand Islamic militants belonging to the extremist Laskar Jihad paramilitary group, are believed to have arrived in Ambon from Indonesia's main island of Java.
Their leader Jafar Umar Thalib, who is believed to have close ties to the former regime of ex-dictator Suharto, has vowed to wage a holy war against the Christian community.

In recent weeks, Christians and Muslims have repeatedly clashed in the capital city, torching buildings and leaving scores dead and wounded.
The latest incident took place when a Muslim mob attacked a Christian village outside the capital, setting fire to a church and sparking a full-scale battle between the two ethnic groups.
At least seven people were killed.
Soldiers patrol the tense streets of Ambon city, the divided capital of this picturesque island in the east of the Indonesian archipelago.
Much of the city centre is devastated following recent riots between indigenous Christians and Muslims settlers.
The tension is palpable as they confront one another over the rubble of a decimated church, burnt down by a Muslim mob only days before.
The soldiers here attempt to keep the sides apart, fearing a repetition of the violence that engulfed the island last March, leaving scores dead and devastating vast swathes of the city.
But as they do so, another conflict is about to erupt only a few miles from the city centre.
A Muslim mob descend from the hills into the Christian quarter of Ahuru village, intent on burning down the houses of their enemies.
Christian villagers grab weapons from their houses and race up the hillside to defend their settlement.
From their vantage point, they fire mortars and rifles at the Muslim attackers creeping along the valley.
The Muslims' target are houses belonging to Christian Ambonese who attacked the village mosque earlier this year.
Well into the gun battle, Indonesian soldiers appear on the scene.
But they do little to prevent the panic among the Christian villagers fleeing the violence.
Seven Christians were killed in the conflict and dozens more were injured before the Muslims retreated.
It remained unclear how many Muslims were hurt or killed in the violence.
More than 300 people have been killed this year in fighting in and around coastal Ambon.
The unrest is not only caused by religious differences.
Economic hardship and political upheaval have all worked to ex acerbate
the existing tensions between the indigenous Christian Ambonese and the
more economically successful Muslim settlers.

An international human rights group on Wednesday condemned Indonesian soldiers for shooting religious rioters to death on the island of Ambon.
The group, Human Rights Watch, have also called for an investigation into claims that soldiers have taken sides in the bloody fighting between Christian and Muslims mobs.
More than 200 people have died in two months of clashes.
The accusation of army bias comes after relative calm descended on the strife-torn island.
Indonesian soldiers deployed on Ambon are keen to show they're doing something to restore order here and on neighbouring islands.
Hundreds of weapons were confiscated from a ship that had arrived at Ambon port on Wednesday.
The ship came from a nearby island, carrying weapons ranging from arrows and machetes to guns.
The army is unsure which group the weapons were destined for, but the discovery follows a stern warning by army chiefs on Tuesday that any one caught inciting riots could be shot.
However, the worst of the clashes between Muslims and Christians in this eastern part of Indonesia looks to be over for the time being.
The army sent reinforcements to calm the situation but an international human rights group now says soldiers have taken sides in the conflict, often just looking on instead of intervening.
But army chiefs in Ambon say their presence has made a difference.

Indonesian/Nat
Limited calm returned to the eastern Indonesian province where violence has been breaking out between Christians and Muslims since January.
More than 2-hundred people have been killed since January in the former Spice islands where rival mobs have fought savage street battles with swords, spears and gasoline bombs in the name of Allah or Jesus.
However, hope came from an apparent call for peace by members of both sides as they handed over their weapons to the Indonesian military.
Security was tight at the eastern Indonesian city after over a month of violence.
Checkpoints were set up by the military on the look out for weapons that may be used in the fighting between Christians and Muslims that have left 2-hundred people dead.
Among several people arrested was a high school boy found with arrows and spears.
The fighting first erupted in Ambon, 2-thousand 400 kilometres (1,500 miles) east of Jakarta, on January 19th.
It quickly spread to five other islands in the Maluku Province, formerly known as the Spice Islands in Dutch colonial times.
The weapons, which also include knives and slingshots used in the fightings have made it difficult for the security forces patrolling the islands to limit the resulting casualties.
But, signs of improvement have come as members in Ambon from both sides of the conflict met for the first time to handover their weapons to the military in the hope of a settlement.
But the gesture may not be enough.
Fifteen houses are reported to have been burnt as recent as Sunday and a body was found by the military on Monday minus its head and hands.
Thousands of people have been displaced, seeking refuge in mosques, churches and schools.
Many had been neighbours for generations on Ambon island.
But the shocking eruption of sectarian violence had left their houses burned and their relatives murdered or maimed.
Now, both sides were too terrified of one another to return to villages torn apart by religious violence.
One local reflects their bemusement to the violent turn of events, puzzled by the change in the once apparently peaceful relationship that existed between Muslims and Christians.
SOUNDBITE: (Indonesian)
"Before these problems occurred, they were friendly at first. They were even very kind to me and I also treated them like normal. But as it happens, there was an enemy dormant within."
SUPER CAPTION: Natti Siahaia, Vox Pop
So far, the Ambon crisis isn't easy to understand.
Although the country is nearly 90 percent Muslim, the number of Christians and Muslims in in eastern Indonesia is roughly even.
Relations between the two groups had been good for centuries, due in part to a system of strong village alliances.
As the violence in Ambon appeared to slow down, many people are left to wonder if their trashed neighbourhood will have any chance of recovering its long-lost peace and religious tolerance.

Armed mobs have taken to the streets of Indonesia's eastern island of Ambon, despite a security clampdown after a surge of religious violence this week.
The death toll in from the latest violence in Maluku province rose to 91 on Friday, and overwhelmed security forces denied allegations of a massacre at a church.

Angry mobs of Muslims and Christians clashed with each other - and with security forces - on the island of Ambon this week.
At least 89 people died in the latest round of violence which began on July 24.
Police said a total of 46 people were killed this week alone, but they denied accusations of a massacre.
Witnesses claimed 24 people were shot by troops on Tuesday and Wednesday in and around a Protestant church in Galala, a suburb of Ambon city.
The church secretary said he saw security forces shooting at battling mobs armed with homemade spears, bows and arrows and gasoline bombs.
Police were reinforced in the past few days by a battalion of Indonesia's toughest soldiers.
The unit is one of two deployed after local security forces proved incapable of quelling the running battles.
Some reports suggest an additional 600-man marine battalion is on its way to help out local police.
For now, soldiers patrol the streets of Ambon city, while machete-wielding gangs guard their turf.
Many say the city has become too dangerous for unarmed people to go outside.
Something the APTN cameraman who filmed these pictures experienced for himself.
He was shot in the arm and hit by an arrow in the leg.

(00.31)
More than 4-hundred people have died this year in a series of clashes between Christians and Muslims.
(00.37)
Police were reinforced in the past few days by a battalion of Indonesia's toughest soldiers.
(00.43)
The unit is one of two deployed after local security forces proved incapable of quelling the running battles.

Many say the city has become too dangerous for unarmed people to go outside.
(00.55)
Some reports suggest an additional 6-hundred battalion of marines is on its way to help out local police.
(01.02)
But it will do little to solve the cause of the religious unrest.
(01.06)
The deadly violence has also stemmed from economic hardship, political upheaval, gang feuds and ethnic tension.

Muslim gangs have attempted to storm a Christian neighborhood but were blocked by police in Ambon, the capital of South Maluku province where sectarian clashes began exactly one year ago.
Wednesday marks a year of ethnic violence on the Indonesian island - the situation is calm at the moment, but very tense.
About two-thousand people have died in religious fighting in the Maluku provinces, formerly known as the Spice Islands of which Ambon is a part.
There is a heavy military presence on the streets of Ambon city, following months of fierce fighting between Muslims and Christians.
Soldiers seized many weapons from the two factions but the situation remains unstable.
It's been a year since fighting started in eastern Indonesia.
Here, in the Muslim area of Ambon, people wear the scars of the troubles.
Many had to undergo treatment at the local hospital - which struggled to cope with the many injured arriving day in, day out.
The wards were so full that beds had to be set up outside the hospital, in the surrounding grounds.
Pressure is mounting on the Indonesian government to put an end to the bloodshed.
The violence has sparked a string of protests by Muslims throughout Indonesia - the ethnic strife has hit Aceh and Lombok to name but a few.
Many demonstrators want a holy war against the country's Christian minority, which can but hope for an end to the tense situation.
Muslim families who've taken refuge from the ethnic fighting on Ambon say they are still waiting for supplies.
They are afraid to leave what they believe to be safe places - but in reality they too are vulnerable targets for Christian rebels.

Indonesia's Vice President on Tuesday continued her mission to put an end to fierce fighting between Muslims and Christians in the Maluku Islands, known during Dutch colonial rule as the Spice Islands, or Moluccas.
Megawati Sukarnoputri visited Ambon city, where she spoke with some of those injured in recent clashes.
Christians used to have a small majority in Maluku and North Maluku provinces, but an influx of Muslims from Indonesia's other islands has changed the religious makeup and fueled tensions.
Analysts and foreign diplomats fear that, if left unchecked, the regional unrest could threaten President Wahid's government and programmes for democratic and economic reform.
Megawati also toured a mosque and visited a Protestant church in Ambon.
Her trip is the first of three top-level missions to quell religious and separatist violence that has killed thousands of people in recent months.
SOUNDBITE: (Bahasa Indonesian)
"What the government wants and feels responsible for is to stop the chaos between Christians and Muslims here in Ambon."

Indonesia's president himself on Tuesday led a peace mission to Aceh province, hours after seven people were killed in gun battles between security forces and rebels.
President Abdurrahman Wahid left Jakarta for talks with community leaders in Sabang, a town on the tiny island of We, just off Aceh's northern tip.
The Aceh peace initiative is part of a crucial bid by Wahid to restore stability across the Indonesian archipelago, which has been plagued by both separatist and religious bloodshed.

Troop reinforcements have been sent to the Indonesian island of Ambon after renewed violence in the east and west of the country which has reportedly claimed at least 34 lives since Friday.
About 2-thousand people have been killed in a year of religious violence in the Maluku and North Maluku provinces, collectively known as the Spice Islands.
The situation in Ambon is calm at the moment, but security is being stepped up in time for Vice-President Megawati Sukarnoputri's visit on Monday.
A heavy military presence on the streets of Ambon- the provincial capital of Maluku which is one of the Indonesian Spice Islands.
This is where fighting between the Muslim and Christian communities first started a year ago.
The clashes were originally triggered by a minor traffic accident involving a Christian and a Muslim and the hatred between the two has since spread to other regions in Indonesia.
On Haruku island, about 26-hundred kilometres (1,600 miles) east of Jakarta, at least 18 people died after a Muslim mob attacked and burned a church on Sunday.
The once strong Indonesian military force is struggling to control the fighting factions.
But Indonesia can no longer afford to take any chances and extra troops have been sent here ahead of a visit on Monday by Vice President Megawati Sukarnoputri.
Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid has come under increasing pressure to put a stop the fighting.
But he has another worry - Aceh, where violence has erupted over a call for an independent state.
Wahid is scheduled to visit Aceh on Tuesday to hold peace talks with the separatists.
But, few expect the bloodshed to stop there.
A similar visit to the area last month by Wahid and Sukarnoputri did little to help.
Although there was a brief pause in the violence, fighting broke out again just two days later.

Indonesia's troubled eastern islands have been enjoying a rare but uneasy calm for the past few days after 18 months of sectarian violence between Muslim and Christian inhabitants.
More than 3-thousand people have been killed in the Maluku islands and President Abdurrahman Wahid's government is under increasing pressure to stop the bloodshed.
Prominent Christian politicians and senior clergymen in the country have appealed to the United Nations and other world leaders, calling for foreign troops to be sent to the islands to help bring peace to the region.
But Wahid's administration has repeatedly rejected foreign intervention, saying the problem is internal and that Indonesia is capable of solving it.
The smoke clouding Ambon's skyline has become a regular sight in this troubled island, northeast of Jakarta.
President Wahid's declaration of a state of emergency in the Maluku region last month only highlights the desperate and violent conflict currently gripping the provincial capital.
At least 22 people were killed and 57 others injured in an attack by Islamic militants on a Christian village near the region's main city last Thursday.
Many buildings were burnt, many of them places of worship.
Burnt out churches and mosques have become commonplace, and the busy market streets have been replaced by an eerie silence after thousands abandoned their homes.
Despite the lull in fighting, many Ambonese Christians fear they are fighting a losing battle.
Indonesia is one of the world's largest Muslim countries and Islamic extremists here have called for a nationwide jihad (holy war) against the Christians of the Malukus.
Now, only a handful of Christian villages remain intact.
Many are desperate to escape - like this group who say they swam a few miles (kilometres) to get to this temporary safehouse in one of the many mountains on the island.
Walking through the jungle would have been too dangerous.
SOUNDBITE: (Indonesian)
"At that time everyone decided to swim. Some carried children, others carried some belongings but most could only take what they wore on their bodies already."
SUPER CAPTION: Helena Cols, Christian refugee
For now these refugees can only wait in hiding.
With trading halted, food and medication supplies are dangerously low.
Their best hope lies 2,600 kilometers (1,600 miles) away in Jakarta.
Growing support for the victims caught in the sectarian conflict are pressurising the government to somehow end the violence.
In a rare sign of unity, hundreds of Muslims and Christians rallied together on Monday outside Indonesia's vice-president's office.
Dozens of Catholic nuns joined hundreds of Muslim women, demanding that the government separate the Muslim and Christian warring sides.
The protesters also called on the international community to consider sending international observers to help mediate a peace agreement - something which the Indonesian government has so far rejected, insisting that the violence is an internal matter.

Christians in Ambon are taking advantage of the rare calm period this week to celebrate one of the most important days in the Christian religious calender.
Throughout the year, the highly segregated citizens of this Indonesian island have witnessed sectarian violence that has claimed thousands of lives since the conflict began in 1999.
Throughout the city, people are buying food and getting their homes ready for the holiday.
Many are hoping for peace to return to Ambon and the day that both Christians and Muslims can live together again in the island that was once a symbol of religious tolerance in the country.
Although people are thankful for the calm, they are wary of the prospect of more violence in the coming year.
But that has not stopped the festive spirit of Christmas in the neighborhood.
Many of the children in the town entertained the public with a special Christmas performance with singing, acting and dancing.

STORYLINE:
Former members of Laskar Jihad, Indonesia's most violent Muslim extremist group which is blamed for the slaughter of thousands of Christians in a sectarian conflict in the Maluku islands, have arrived in the Indonesian city of Surabaya.
The group reportedly disbanded following last Saturday's bombing of nightclubs in Bali which killed nearly 200 people, although the group's legal adviser said the dissolution was not connected to Saturday's bombing.
Police in Ambon confirmed that about 500 members of the paramilitary group boarded a ship for Indonesia's main island of Java on Tuesday, after driving through Ambon in a huge convoy.
They were accompanied by about 200 members of their families.

Ambon - The truth about one of WW2's most brutal POW camps
Roger Maynard talks about his latest book, Ambon, which details the plight of 1150 Australian members of Gull Force who were incarcerated by the Japanese on a tiny island in the Dutch East Indies during the Second World War. Only 300 of them survived. Beaten, starved and tortured by their captors, the brutality they endured lasted for three and a half years. In this hell hole of despair and evil,

In the year 1999, conflict between the Islamic and Christian communities broke out in the Maluku Islands – a province in eastern Indonesia, consisting of 1,450 islands. One of the most tragic consequences of conflict experienced is the division between the Muslim and Christian communities. As a result, in Maluku, especially in Ambon and the surrounding islands, villages are divided into being Muslim and Christian villages. Unfortunately, even schools are separated in this way, despite the fact that they belong to the Government. Almost all State Schools as well as the teachers and students are labelled and divided as “Islam” and “Christian”. The outcome of this division is a strained or almost no relationship between the Muslim and Christian students and teachers for almost fifteen years. This is truly sad, especially because, since the colonial days of the Dutch, the people of the islands of Maluku were known to be multi-religious and multi-cultural where interfaith harmony between villages was part of daily life, and well-known to the whole world.
For the last three years, The Asia Foundation has been working for Peace building with the Ambon Reconciliation and Mediation Center of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (ARMC IAIN), Ambon. The Programs have been focusing on creating teachers who can become agents of peace, religious tolerance, and harmony in schools. We call them peace makers. There are more than forty nine teachers from both religions from around thirty schools who have followed programs in peace education with all kinds of knowledge and skills needed – like multiculturalism, interfaith dialogue, value and peace education and live in (i.e. experiencing living in the homes and communities of people whose religions are other than their own). These Programs have been given mainly by ARMC IAIN Ambon with The Asia Foundation.
After three years of conducting these programs, The Asia Foundation has taken the initiative to work together with ARMC IAIN Ambon to gather again these forty nine “peace-maker” teachers to further ideas of interfaith, tolerance and harmony through a program for Tolerance and Peace Education conducted in World Interfaith Harmony Week (2015) with the theme “Love of God or the Good and Love of the Neighbor”. Using these two themes the document “A Common Word” is the focus of the festival and workshop of World Interfaith Harmony Week in the context of building peace on Ambon islands.

Only 300 of them survived. Beaten, starved and tortured by their captors, the brutality they endured lasted for three and a half years. In this hell hole of despair and evil, officers and men turned against each other as discipline and morale broke down. Yet this epic struggle also produced heroic acts of kindness and bravery. Amazingly some even escaped by island-hopping their way back to Australia. Ambon, the book, is published by Hachette.

he island of Ambon in Indonesia, 1945. During the War, the number of Australian POWs on the island had dropped from 1100 to less than 300 due to abuses by their Japanese captors. Capt. Cooper is the chief prosecutor. In a mass grave, the bodies of 300 executed servicemen have been unearthed. Cooper assumes that the massacre was ordered by Baron Takahashi, Japanese commander on Ambon. But the one potential witness has gone mad and is due to be shipped back to Australia. No captured airmen were found alive on the island at all, not even the four-man crew of a reconnaissance plane shot down late in the War. Takahashi is returned to the island in the custody of an American officer, Maj. Beckett. But there is little evidence with which to prosecute the Baron. Cooper thinks he could make a case for the missing airmen if only their bodies could be located. And why does Maj. Beckett appear interested in not seeing Takahashi convicted? Cooper gets a break when Lt. Tanaka, a communications officer and a Christian, surrenders himself...

1). The flow of the religion of Islam, which starts from the Maluku Islands because the world trade of spices, so that the people of Parsi and Gujarati, which came to buy spices, and while spreading Islam in Maluku.

Tim MTMA kali ini menelusuri Sumatra Utara.
Kelanjutan dari MTMA Sabtu kemaren (24 Jan 15)
Hari ini, Vicky & Nadine Berada di pulau Mursala.
pastinya masih di Sumatra Utara...
Dimulai dengan perjalanan menuju ke spot diving.
Menggunakan kapal pesiar mini namun mewah.
Setelah Diving disana, ada kejadian tak terduga.
Salah satu kru MTMA tak mematuhi aturan.
Hingga akhirnya dia hampir tenggelam karnanya.
Tapi untungnya tak terlalu fatal.
Seletah itu, Trip dlanjutkan ke air terjun Mursala.
Giliran para kru yang menikmati air disana.
Vicky & Nadine menikmati sunset
dengan bermain gitar diatas kapal.
Ditutup dengan melihat sunrise, namun
sayang karna cuaca hujan jadi tak terlihat mataharinya.
Keren abis...G boleh terlewat.!
Penasaran.? Penasaran.? Penasaran.?
Yauda, silakan ditonton aja :) ^_^ :D
