Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros is an American indie folk band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2007. Led by lead vocalist Alex Ebert, the group features a revolving lineup of up to 12 people. The band's name is based on a story Ebert wrote about a messianic figure named Edward Sharpe. Drawing from roots rock, folk, gospel, and psychedelic music, the band's image and sound evoke the hippie movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The group's first show was played July 18, 2007 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Their first studio album, Up from Below, was released on July 7, 2009 on Community Records and featured the popular single "Home". Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros released their second full-length album, Here, on May 29, 2012. Their third album, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, was released on July 23, 2013.
After years of the Los Angeles party life and subsequent drug addiction, Ima Robot frontman Alex Ebert broke up with his then-girlfriend, moved out of his house, and spent time in rehab. During this time, Ebert began to write a book about a messianic figure named Edward Sharpe that was "sent down to Earth to kinda heal and save mankind, but he kept getting distracted by girls and falling in love." Ebert adopted the Sharpe persona as his alter ego. He said, "I don't want to put too much weight on it, because in some ways it's just a name that I came up with. But I guess if I look deeper, I do feel like I had lost my identity in general. I really didn't know what was going on or who I was anymore. Adopting another name helped me open up an avenue to get back."
A home is a dwelling-place used as a permanent or semi-permanent residence for an individual, family, household or several families in a tribe. It is often a house, apartment, or other building, or alternatively a mobile home, houseboat, yurt or any other portable shelter. Homes typically provide areas and facilities for sleeping, preparing food, eating and hygiene. Larger groups may live in a nursing home, children's home, convent or any similar institution. A homestead also includes agricultural land and facilities for domesticated animals. Where more secure dwellings are not available, people may live in the informal and sometimes illegal shacks found in slums and shanty towns. More generally, "home" may be considered to be a geographic area, such as a town, village, suburb, city, or country.
Transitory accommodation in a treatment facility for a few weeks is not normally considered permanent enough to replace a more stable location as 'home'. In 2005, 100 million people worldwide were estimated to be homeless.
Rancid (also known as Rancid 5 or Rancid 2000) is the eponymously titled fifth studio album by the American punk rock band Rancid. It is the second eponymous album and was released on August 1, 2000, through frontman Tim Armstrong's label, Hellcat Records. It was the band's first album released through Hellcat. It is Rancid's most hardcore offering to date, which was released as a follow-up to the more ska and reggae oriented Life Won't Wait. It spans 22 tracks in under 40 minutes, resulting in over 3/4 of the songs clocking at under 2 minutes. The Japanese version includes one bonus track, "Sick Sick World". Songs on the album make reference to famous gangster Al Capone, as well as Norse God Loki, John Brown, Ulysses S. Grant, Nelson Mandela, Charles Van Doren, Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales and Don Giovanni. Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion) reunited with Rancid and became their producer for this album. It was 6 years since he co-produced the band's second album Let's Go (1994), although he engineered the band's third album, ...And Out Come the Wolves (1995). Rancid and Gurewitz would continue their collaboration for their next three albums, Indestructible, Let the Dominoes Fall and Honor Is All We Know.
Edward is an English and Polish given name. It is derived from the Anglo-Saxon form Ēadweard, composed of the elements ead "wealth, fortune; prosperous" and weard "guardian, protector".
The name has been adopted in the Iberian peninsula since the 15th century, due to Edward, King of Portugal, whose mother was English. The Spanish/Portuguese forms of the name are Eduardo and Duarte.
Other variant forms include French Édouard, Italian Edoardo, German and Dutch Eduard and Scandinavian Edvard. Short forms include Ed, Eddy, Eddie, Ted, Teddy, Woody and Ned. Edward can be abbreviated as Edw.
Zero is the name for both the digit 0 and the number 0.
Sometimes it is written in a slashed form, cf. slashed zero (the slash does not extend beyond the 0), which can be produced in HTML as a combined character: 0̸. It is to be distinguished from the symbol for an empty set, i.e. ∅, and the Scandinavian languages letter Ø.
Zero may also refer to:

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros can't exactly slip into an office building unnoticed: Clad in the same clothes they'd worn at a concert the night before, the L.A. band's 10 ragtag misfits would have fit in far more seamlessly at, say, Burning Man. Seeming to exist in a blissed-out alternate universe — during the wonderful "Home," singer Jade Castrinos exclaims, "Good morning, everybody!" as the clock behind her reads 2:10 p.m. — this is a band whose performances beg to be seen as well as heard, not to mention shot through a wide-angle lens. The biggest band to play a Tiny Desk Concert - the 10 members of The Magnetic Zeroes played three songs from their debut album (Up From Below). The set included: - Janglin - Home - 40 Day Daydream

I'm sending you all of my love
You with a heart to feel it
(Feel it)
You in the light and dark
With the eyes to see it
(See it)
Love, go ahead, love, stand beside us
Love is within each heart to guide us
And I thank the sun for shining that light
And letting love blaze like
Fire water
We're all still learning
The river forgives
All tides are turning
(You know)
Some say the river won't flow
They say it's gonna stay run dry
(You know)
Once more the river will flow
For every time it was dry
We'll all be sharing a river of love
And letting love blaze like
Fire
River, river, river
Love like a river, the river, it flows
However dark or long the night is
Right where you are
That's where the light is
My love
The sun is your reflection
It's true, we're one
We're all each other
Lay down your arms
Lay down your guns
Open your arms
Free your heart
And know one day I'll see you all
Farther down this river
To a place we've never, ever known
(No)
Tonight our song will finally
Know the sound of love delivered
To its hiding place
Beneath the winter snow
And I thank the sun
