Nazi human experimentation

Nazi human experimentation was a series of medical experiments on large numbers of prisoners (including children), largely Jews from across Europe, but also Romani, Sinti, ethnic Poles, Soviet POWs and disabled Germans, by Nazi Germany in its concentration camps mainly in the early 1940s, during World War II and the Holocaust.

Nazi Physicians and their assistants forced prisoners into participating; they did not willingly volunteer and no consent was given for the procedures. Typically, the experiments resulted in death, trauma, disfigurement or permanent disability, and as such are considered as examples of medical torture.

At Auschwitz and other camps, under the direction of Eduard Wirths, selected inmates were subjected to various hazardous experiments that were designed to help German military personnel in combat situations, develop new weapons, aid in the recovery of military personnel who had been injured, and to advance the Nazi racial ideology.Aribert Heim conducted similar medical experiments at Mauthausen. Carl Værnet is known to have conducted experiments on homosexual prisoners in attempts to "cure" homosexuality.

Human subject research

Human subject research is systematic, scientific investigation that can be either interventional (a "trial") or observational (no "test article") and involves human beings as research subjects. Human subject research can be either medical (clinical) research or non-medical (e.g., social science) research. Systematic investigation incorporates both the collection and analysis of data in order to answer a specific question. Medical human subject research often involves analysis of biological specimens, epidemiological and behavioral studies and medical chart review studies. (A specific, and especially heavily regulated, type of medical human subject research is the "clinical trial", in which drugs, vaccines and medical devices are evaluated.) Human subject research in the social sciences often involves surveys, questionnaires, interviews, and focus groups.

Human subject research is used in various fields, including research into basic biology, clinical medicine, nursing, psychology, sociology, political science, and anthropology. As research has become formalized, the academic community has developed formal definitions of "human subject research", largely in response to abuses of human subjects.

Human Experiments

Human Experiments is a women in prison film (also known as Beyond The Gate and Women In Prison) starring Linda Haynes, Geoffrey Lewis and Ellen Travolta. It is director/writer/producer Gregory Goodell's only feature film to be released in cinemas, this film earned its notoriety for being targeted by England's Director of Public Prosecutions during the video nasty furore in the early 1980s. Although it was listed on the first video nasty list issued by the DPP on July 4, 1983, the film was never prosecuted under the Obscene Publications Act and had originally been given an uncut (now defunct) X rating by the BBFC for theatrical release in 1979.

Plot Synopsis

Rachel Foster (Linda Haynes) is a country singer travelling alone through the United States. She resists the advances of lechrous bar owner Mat Tibbs (Aldo Ray) and in her hurry to leave town, she wrecks her car. Looking for help, she finds what appears to be an abandoned house - but in fact it's the scene of a grisly multiple homicide perpetrated by a young boy. Railroaded into prison by the bar owner's brother Sheriff Tibbs (Jackie Coogan), the innocent musician finds herself at the mercy of prison psychiatrist Doctor Kline (Geoffrey Lewis). Kline has some very radical techniques for "curing" criminality, and after a failed escape attempt she undergoes his treatment and loses her mind.

Most Shocking is an American reality television show produced by Nash Entertainment and truTV Original Productions. It generally features narrated video of criminal behavior, police pursuits, robberies, and freak accidents. It also airs a spinoff series Top 20 Countdown: Most Shocking which began airing on October 3, 2009.

The program held a TV-14 rating due to extremely violent situations depicted in the videos. The series currently reruns on The Justice Network as of October 26, 2015.

Most Evil

Most Evil is an American forensics television program on Investigation Discovery presented by forensic psychiatrist Michael Stone of Columbia University during seasons 1 and 2 and by forensic psychologist Dr. Kris Mohandie during Season 3. Neurologists, psychologists, and other forensic psychiatrists are interviewed on the show in an attempt to examine and profile the minds of notorious killers. Partial re-enactments are shown along with news footage, evidence, and reports from locals. Neurological, environmental, and genetic factors are examined to help determine what drives a person to kill. Background history and pre-meditation are considered when placing an individual on the scale of evil. The show indirectly deals with the concepts of morality and ethics.
