Wishing well

A wishing well is a term from European folklore to describe wells where it was thought that any spoken wish would be granted. The idea that a wish would be granted came from the idea that water housed deities or had been placed there as a gift from the gods, since water was a source of life and often a scarce commodity.

The Germanic and Celtic peoples considered springs and wells sacred places. Sometimes the places were marked with wooden statues possibly of the god associated with the pool. Germanic peoples were known to throw the armour and weapons of defeated enemies into bogs and other pools of water as offerings to their gods. Water was seen to have healing powers and therefore wells became popular with many people drinking, bathing or just simply wishing over it. Some people believe that the guardians or dwellers of the well would grant them their wish if they paid a price. After uttering the wish, one would generally drop coins in the well. That wish would then be granted by the guardian or dweller, based upon how the coin would land at the bottom of the well. If the coin landed heads up, the guardian of the well would grant the wish, but the wish of a tails up coin would be ignored. It was thus potentially lucky to throw coins in the well, but it depended on how they landed.

Terence Trent D'Arby

Sananda Francesco Maitreya (born Terence Trent Howard in Manhattan, New York, United States on March 15, 1962), better known by his former stage name Terence Trent D'Arby, is an American singer-songwriter who came to fame with his album Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby, released in July 1987, which included the singles "Wishing Well" and "Sign Your Name".

Early life

Terence Trent D'Arby was born Terence Trent Howard in Manhattan in 1962. His mother is Frances Howard Darby, a gospel singer, teacher and counselor; she married Bishop James Benjamin Darby, who became D'Arby's stepfather and raised him, hence "his last name changed and later he completed it with the apostrophe." His biological father was a married man with Scotch-Irish ancestry. He was known to childhood friends as Terry Darby. His family moved successively from New York to New Jersey, to Chicago, to Daytona Beach, and then settled in DeLand, Florida, north of Orlando.

He trained as a boxer in Orlando and in 1980 won the Florida Golden Gloves lightweight championship. He received an offer to attend boxing school in the United States Army, but he went to college instead. He enrolled at the University of Central Florida but quit a year later, enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was posted at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and then served in the 3rd Armored Division, near Frankfurt, West Germany. He was formally court-martialed and dishonorably discharged by the army in April 1983 after going absent without leave. While in West Germany, he also worked as a band leader with the band The Touch, releasing an album of material called Love On Time (1984). It was later re-issued in 1989 as Early Works after his worldwide success as a solo artist. In 1986 he left West Germany for London, where he briefly played with The Bojangels, after which he signed a solo recording deal.

Amba Shepherd

Amba Shepherd is an Australian singer and songwriter, best known for her collaborations with the Dutch music producer, Hardwell. Amba Shepherd was named "The most relevant guest vocalist in EDM" by Elektro Mag June 2013 & "The number one voice on today's dance floor" by DMC World. Her collaboration with Hardwell on the track "Apollo" held the number one position on the Beatport Top 100.

Shepherd comes from a musical family in Sydney.

Hardwell

Robbert van de Corput (born 7 January 1988 in Breda), who performs under the stage name Hardwell, is a Dutch big room house and electro house DJ and music producer. He was voted the World's No. 1 DJ on DJ Magazine's annual Top 100 DJs poll in 2013, and again in 2014. Hardwell is known for his live sets at major music festivals such as Tomorrowland and Ultra. The video streams of his performances on his personal YouTube channel have collectively garnered more than 100 million views.

Hardwell first gained recognition in 2009 for his bootleg of "Show Me Love vs. Be". He founded record label Revealed Recordings in 2010 and his own radio show and podcast, Hardwell On Air in 2011. He has since released six compilation albums through his label, as well as his own documentary film. His debut album, United We Are was released on January 23, 2015.

Early life

Robbert van der Corput was born on the 7th of January 1988 in Breda, Netherlands, where he grew up as well. He started learning classical piano and DJing. Van der Corput was first inspired to become a DJ after watching a documentary about DJs on the Dutch MTV. He was signed to his first record label and he began DJing at reputable clubs across the Netherlands. As a kid, he enrolled at a music-oriented school and the Rock Academy. Three months into the Rock Academy, he was advised to quit and to pursue a career in music immediately, changing his name to Hardwell. He often cited fellow Breda native, Tiësto, as his biggest inspiration and mentor.

Lose My Mind

"Lose My Mind" is the first single released from Young Jeezy's album, Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition. The song features rapper Plies. The song was also released on Jeezy's mixtape "Trap or Die II". It was nominated for Best Rap Performance By Duo or Group at the 2011 Grammy's. It serves as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of the album.

The music video for the song was released on April 25, 2010.

Covers and remixes

The official remix features Drake and was performed at the 2010 BET Awards. This version features a verse by Drake replacing Plies verse. The second remix features Trae. Rapper B.G. and R&B singer Teairra Mari have freestyled over the instrumental of this song. R&B singer Ciara covered the single for her upcoming "Basic Instinct Mixtape".

Chart performance

The song made its Hot Shot debut at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
