Mest ondt

"Mest ondt" is a Danish language hit song by Burhan G, a Danish pop singer, songwriter and producer of Kurdish origin, featuring Danish-Chilean singer Medina. "Mest ondt" (translated as What hurts the most) was released on the Danish record label Copenhagen Records. It is the first ever #1 hit for Burhan G on Tracklisten, the official Danish Singles Chart.

"Mest ondt" was not the first collaboration between Burhan G and Medina. Medina's solo hit "Kun for mig" was rereleased later in a version featuring Burhan G in 2008 alongside a third version featuring L.O.C..

Medina

Medina (/məˈdiːnə/; Arabic: المدينة المنورة‎, al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah, "the radiant city"; or المدينة, al-Madīnah, "the city"), also transliterated as Madīnah, is a city in the Hejaz, and the capital of the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. The city contains al-Masjid an-Nabawi ("the Prophet's Mosque"), which is the burial place of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and is the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca.

Medina was Muhammad's destination after his Hijrah from Mecca, and became the capital of a rapidly increasing Muslim Empire, first under Muhammad's leadership, and then under the first four Rashidun caliphs, Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. It served as the power base of Islam in its first century where the early Muslim community developed. Medina is home to the three oldest mosques, namely the Quba Mosque, al-Masjid an-Nabawi, and Masjid al-Qiblatayn ("the mosque of the two qiblas"). Muslims believe that the chronologically final surahs of the Quran were revealed to Muhammad in Medina, and are called Medinan surahs in contrast to the earlier Meccan surahs.

Carpark North

Carpark North is a Danish electronic rock band. The band was formed in Aarhus, Denmark on 28 July 1999 by Lau Højen (vocal, guitar), Søren Balsner (bass, synthesisers) and Morten Thorhauge (drums). The name "Carpark North" was created from the electro and rock genres: "Carpark" stands for car parks, edges, roughness, metal - the rock part, and "North" stands for northern lights, stars ethereal electronics.

In an interview with MTV, Lau Højen explained that the name was chosen, because when they started the band they misinterpreted the meaning of Carpark as Graveyard. They only discovered the error a few months later and decided not to change the name of the band.

History

The foundation for Carpark North was laid at Mellerup Efterskole, where Søren Balsner and Lau Højen met and formed a band. This band played in the national championship in rock in 1997.

Søren and Lau split up after Mellerup, and Lau started his education at high school - Aarhus Katedralskole. Here he joined a band - "Spacekraft" and met Morten Thorhauge a young drummer from Søften. After a couple of months Lau and Morten formed their own band, and contacted Søren.

Hej Matematik

Hej Matematik (literally "Hi Mathematics" and also the title of a Danish primary school math book) is a Danish pop band, consisting of the Aqua-member Søren Rasted and his nephew Nicolaj Rasted. On live shows, they are accompanied by Nikolaj Teinvig on guitar, Nicholas Findsen on bass, Mads Storm on keyboards and Peter Düring on drums.

History

2005–08: Formation and Vi burde ses noget mere

Hej Matematik was founded in 2005 by Aqua-member Søren Rasted and his nephew Nicolaj Rasted during Aqua's and Søren's own solo projects' LazyB hiatus. In 2007, Hej Matematik provided backing vocals on TV-2's album For dig ku' jeg gøre alting. The groups own debut album was Vi burde ses noget mere, released in 2008, preceded by the two single releases "Gymnastik" and "Centerpubben" in 2007. The album peaked #4 in the Danish album chart, while "Centerpubben" became a moderate success, peaking #22 in the Danish single chart. The music video for "Centerpubben" is known for having Søren's fellow band members of Aqua on board, who were reunited in a music video for the first time since their sudden split in 2001. In 2008, the two more singles "Du & jeg", peaking #32 in the Danish single chart, and the promotional single "Vi ka' alt vi to", a ballad featuring an uncredited vocal performance by Søren's fellow Aqua-bandmember and wife Lene. In 2008, the single "Walkmand", which features a vocal sample by Michael Hardinger from his 1981s recording "Walk, Mand", has been released. Due to the huge success of "Walkmand", which made it to #3 in the Danish single chart and won the Danish "Hit of the Year" at Zulu Awards 2009, an annual award-ceremony held by Denmark's largest commercial television station TV 2, the 11-track debut album has been re-released in a special edition with "Walkmand" as an bonus track in the 12th place.
